About Me

  1. UW holds high positions in international rankings, such as the Times Higher Education World University Ranking and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (also known as the Shanghai Ranking). Taking into account the total number of research universities that reaches 20 thousand, the University of Warsaw is among the top 3% of the world’s best universities. According to international rankings, it also is the best university in Poland and one of the leading ones in this region of Europe. Also, the University of Warsaw holds very good positions in comparative evaluations of the quality of education, in particular study programs, such as the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Ranking and Eduniversal Best Masters and MBA Worldwide. 16 programs provided by UW have been listed in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017. 15 programs offered by UW have been listed in Eduniversal Best Masters & MBA Ranking 2017. The quality of education at the University of Warsaw is confirmed by the annual appraisals conducted by the university itself which show that the majority of students are satisfied with their selection of the university and the education program. The University’s strongest points are its prestige, development opportunities, the study environment. The quality of education is also confirmed by research conducted with the University’s graduates. The University of Warsaw conducts the largest research enterprise of its kind in Europe by monitoring the careers of former students. Results demonstrate that having a diploma from the University of Warsaw is a definite asset in the job market 94% of respondents have found employment after graduation. The leading concepts of the University’s activity are the unity of teaching and research, and the harmonious development of all branches of knowledge represented in its curriculum. The University employs 3,750 scholars, ¼ of whom hold professorial titles. Their scientific inquiry extends over 3,350 research topics students who they concurrently teach have the opportunity of joining in their research projects. The University’s research teams have won worldwide recognition in many areas of knowledge and have joined international research programs. The University of Warsaw community includes 4,400 foreigners: students, doctoral students, employees, and grantees of, among others, the Erasmus+ program. Concerning academic exchanges, the University of Warsaw stands out not only in Poland but also internationally, is one of the leaders of the European Commission ranking issued as part of its assessment of student exchange at over 3,000 institutions of higher education in entire Europe. The University of Warsaw is most popular among students from Spain, Germany, Italy, France, and Turkey. The University is located in the capital of Poland, one of the most dynamically developing European cities. Warsaw is the center of political and economic life and has a lively social and cultural scene. It is steadily climbing the international rankings of the world’s most attractive urban areas: Top 50 of the City Brand Index, United Nations State of the World’s Cities report, best cities ranking and report by the Economist Intelligence Unit. In 2017 Warsaw took 15th place among the most sociable and friendly cities in the world (Business Insider, The 19 most sociable and friendly cities in the world, 2017). Warsaw has also – for the second time running – been named fDi’sPolish City of the Future (fDi Intelligence, Financial Times, Polish Cities of the Future 2017/18, 2017). According to QS Best Student Cities 2017, Warsaw took 52nd place among the best cities in the world. It receives a very high score in the affordability category – within the top five of the entire index – thanks to its combination of low living costs and reasonable tuition fees. The University’s historical Main Campus, located in the very heart of Warsaw, is renowned for its splendid architecture. Its imposing buildings, some going back to the 17th century, are one of the city’s main tourist attractions. The opening of the nearby University Library building, which took place at the very end of the millennium, marked a new chapter in the history of the University’s architecture. New buildings, completed in the following years, are modern, functional, and architecturally interesting. The Natural Sciences campus consists of imposing structures with state-of-the-art laboratories. The University of Warsaw recognizes as still valid its mission as a public utility institution formulated by its founders in 1816: “The University should not only maintain in the nation both learning and skills at the level they have already attained in the scholarly world, but also further develop and propagate them as well as apply their theory for the public good.” The University realizes its aim with the participation of the whole University community: its scholars, students, and staff. Since its establishment, our University’s community has written numerous glorious pages in its history. It has produced many outstanding scholars and created famous scientific schools. It actively resisted armed force, organizing clandestine classes when the University was not allowed to function openly. Our students and graduates have served Poland and the world. These proud annals are our continuing obligation. We must also remember what has been inglorious: submission to political pressure, religious and social discrimination, the expulsion of scholars and students. Let this be a living history lesson for us. The University of Warsaw belongs to the community of universities and accepts its universal aims, and its name is bound up with the capital of Poland. In response to the challenges arising from the transformation of our country, the new position of Poland in Europe and the world, and the education of a knowledge-based society, the University of Warsaw defines its mission as follows: The basis of the University’s activity is the unity of teaching and research. The University brings together scholars from a variety of disciplines. It is the place of a diversity of scientific research. Young researchers in direct contact with teachers develop their research awareness and improve their methodological skills. At the same time, the University propagates throughout society this multifaceted knowledge and these sophisticated skills. New communication technology allows this propagation to take place regionally, nationally, and worldwide. The University offers undergraduate and doctoral studies, organizes summer schools, postgraduate studies, and vocational courses, initiates interdisciplinary programs, and introduces new teaching techniques. The high level of scientific research, its connection with the education of students, and the diversity and attractiveness of our teaching will determine the position of the University in the country and the world, and so decide the University’s future. We seek to be the best Polish university and a leading university in Europe. We recognize our particular responsibility toward Central and Eastern Europe. The mission of the University within society is to guarantee access to knowledge and acquisition of skill to all who are entitled. Knowledge and education today decide a lot of people and entire nations. The University generates knowledge allowing us to know and understand the world around us. Skills acquired through study ensure high professional qualification and preparation for the proper fulfillment of public roles. The civic mission of the University is the formation of those elites who will in their activities serve the “Imperio rational” rather than the “ratione Imperii”. The University is a community of dialogue. The exchange of views, the clash of arguments, openness to new ideas and conceptions are bound up indissolubly here with respect for diversity and personal dignity. In this way, the University develops its capacity for cooperation regardless of political, ideological, or religious differences, and creates a model of public debate. The shaping of the civic attitudes of students is thereby combined with the development of their personalities. The cultural mission of the University is a synthesis of universal and local values. In the emerging conflict between globalism and regionalism, a special role is to be played by institutions that succeed in combining universal techniques of communication and knowledge of universal significance with the maintenance of respect for the historical and cultural identity of regions and states. The University where many disciplines are cultivated – from mathematical and natural sciences to social and humanistic sciences – is a place where such a symbiosis exists naturally. The University is also an institution, which assists the dialogue between the integrating societies of Western Europe and its Eastern neighbors. The mission of the University of Warsaw approved by the Senate shall bind all members of our academic community. It is a signpost for our activities and the basis for University programs. The University’s plans for development and the decisions of University authorities should be made concerning it. View full university
  2. The University of Silesia in Katowice is one of the largest and most dynamically developing public universities in Poland. Founded in 1968, the University of Silesia quickly established a reputation as a vibrant academic institution and an important interdisciplinary research hub. With a tradition of launching new programs to best meet the needs of rapidly changing labor markets, the University of Silesia offers students a variety of programs and specialized fields of study. With outstanding research teams and well-equipped laboratories, we are an important player in the global research arena. We actively participate in European Commission initiatives focused both on educational and scientific development, and realize projects within the frame of programs such as Erasmus+ and Horizon 2020. The University of Silesia in Katowice gives its students a unique possibility to develop their interests, fulfill their passions and gain practical skills necessary in the constantly changing job market. Every academic year we offer over 70 programs and over 240 specializations, that are designed to help our students and alumni meet the challenges of changing reality and the labor market. We provide a stimulating learning environment where individual interests can be pursued and academic ambitions achieved. The University of Silesia serves almost 25,000 intramural and extramural students and it already has 250,000 proud alumni, among which there are outstanding personalities in many fields. Our community consists also of more than 2,000 teachers and researchers. The roots of the University of Silesia date back to 1928 when the Institute of Pedagogics was established in Katowice. The institute was later reformed to National Pedagogical University in 1950, however, the first preparations for the formation of what would later become the University of Silesia were taken just after the finish of the Second World War. In June 1962, a branch of Jagiellonian University was settled in Katowice, which concentrated, apart from humanities, on mathematics, physics, and law. Together with the National Pedagogical University, these are the foundations of what came to life in 1968 as the University of Silesia. And so on October 1, 1968, the University (comprising of four faculties) had its first academic year inaugurated, providing almost 6,000 students with twelve programs, such as philology, pedagogics, psychology, history, law, administration, mathematics, physics, chemistry, physical education, electrotechnics, and mechanics. Two years later, the branch of the University in Cieszyn was established, and in the following years (1974-1978) six new faculties were opened. We are currently teaching almost 25,000 students on over 70 programs and 240 specializations on bachelor, master, and doctoral levels. With almost 50 years of its tradition, the University of Silesia has gathered well over 250,000 alumni to this day and has its units located in 4 different cities. Having renown among international students, the University of Silesia makes its best efforts to provide them with a profound and satisfying learning experience supported not only with the sole transfer of knowledge but also by emphasizing students' personal development. The University of Silesia warmly welcomes international students and candidates willing to undertake studies in our institution either in Polish or in a foreign language. Our broad and diverse educational offer ensures us that we can develop specialists in almost every possible field of science - from arts and linguistics to molecular physics. "The University of Silesia, operating under the ethos of European scholarship, assumes that as a community of scholars and students bound up with mutual respect and trust it not only responds to the increasing educational needs by providing instruction at the best possible level and conducting research which respects the elementary right of academic freedom in the pursuit of Truth but also carries out a significant social mission consisting in encouraging self-development as well as the formation of creative attitudes and spiritual aspirations, whereby it helps shape the cultural image of the Region and Poland. Whilst being committed to both preserving and disseminating knowledge which is a legacy of past generations, the University of Silesia also actively contributes to the cultural heritage of society through the pursuit of art and creative research, the interpretation of contemporary reality, and the analysis of the evolution of values which shape the immediate environment. Both the geographical and cultural situation of the University, at a junction of regions to every one of which History assigned a different course, yet which for centuries have developed their culture through interpenetration and dialogue, endows the University with a European dimension and enables it to define itself as a place whose identity is constituted not by its isolation, but by its readiness to welcome the Other and Different." 3. The Rzeszow University of Technology is a state-funded academic university that makes up a part of the Polish national education and science system. The Rzeszow University of Technology offers its students a wide variety of programs and courses. It also undertakes research and scientific projects in the following specialized fields of the applied sciences: engineering, mathematics, physics, economics, as well as the chemical and biological sciences. Through its multilateral co-operation with entrepreneurial and industrial entities, the University carefully constructs and tailors its academic programs to offer students and graduates the most rewarding hands-on experience, benefitting the development of their professional careers on both a local and national level. The University’s approach to learning provides students with an education grounded in the common values of respect for their community, their state, and the principles of human rights. It teaches them the value of patriotism coupled with tolerance and the exercise of due diligence in carrying out their student responsibilities. In its activities, the University cultivates and realizes the humanistic and intellectual ideals advocated and followed by its patron. The University is named after Ignacy Łukasiewicz, who is remembered as the father of the modern era in the mining and oil industries and inventor of a paraffin lamp. He was an innovator who did most of his work in this region in the nineteenth century. When the University was established, different aviation traditions began to take shape with the training of its first aviators. Insignia and gowns were not worn at official ceremonies until 1972, but since that time, the Rector, deans, and Senate members attend an annual inauguration where doctoral nominations and the matriculation of students takes place, and they don regalia including handcrafted scepters and medallions produced by local artisans. Afterward, the students and lecturers go, as a solemn group, to Rzeszow Cathedral to attend mass. The statutes of the University officially introduce its symbol. The University initials (PRz) symbolise the name Politechnika Rzeszowska (the Rzeszow University of Technology). The Maltese Cross, which is the heraldic arms of Rzeszow, is incorporated into the initials. The background is blue. Since 1976, the I. Łukasiewicz Medal of Merit has been awarded to distinctive researchers. The ceremony of awarding outstanding people with an honorary doctor title, Honoris Causa, is also celebrated solemnly. In 1994, the University began to publish Gazeta Politechniki, The Polytechnic Gazette, which is a continuation of Wiadomości Rektorskie 1988-93. The magazine describes news about on-campus life and research awards, as well as general information to spread well-being. At Christmas, the student body, local diocese, special guests, and the Połoniny ensemble gather to share in Polish Christmas traditions where we break unleavened bread with each other and wish each other well, then share in Christmas cheer with caroling. In May of each year, the student body celebrates Juvenalia, a “celebration of youth”, and they are given the town keys by the mayor of Rzeszow for three days – when they symbolically rule the town. The students also have plenty of other traditional events at the beginning of the academic year and at mid-term. View full university
  4. The Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (NCU) was founded in 1945. It is one of the largest universities in Poland, currently comprising 17 faculties (including 3 medical faculties at Collegium Medicum UMK in Bydgoszcz). It provides graduate and postgraduate courses for almost 25 000 students, offering education in over 100 fields of study and 65 postgraduate courses. The university employs 4039 staff on both Toruń and Bydgoszcz campuses, over half of whom are academic teachers. NCU alumni now number around 200 000. The university participates in student and staff exchange programs at both international (the Erasmus+ program) and national (the MOST program) levels. It develops studies in cooperation with universities abroad and is currently collaborating with the universities in Anger (economics) and Moscow (history). NCU has state-of-the-art research infrastructure including the National Laboratory of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (FAMO), the Center for Quantum Optics, and the Interdisciplinary Center for Modern Technologies to name but a few, as well as modern teaching facilities comprising, among others, Collegium Humanisticum and the brand new University Sports Centre. The Centre for Astronomy in Piwnice near Toruń houses a unique 32-meter radio telescope. Spitsbergen (in the Arctic Sea) is home to NCU Polar Station. The university has also organized the Polish Historical Mission at the University of Würzburg. NCU researchers can boast several spectacular successes which include, among others, the design and construction of an Optical Coherence Tomography instrument, an ultra-modern device for medical eye examinations. The University Library holds an imposing collection of nearly 3 million printed volumes, periodicals, and special collection items. NCU campus hosts the Academic Centre for Arts and Culture ‘Od Nowa’, one of the oldest students’ clubs in Poland. This has contributed to the Nicolaus Copernicus University’s position as one of the five best universities in Poland and it is also the reason why QS World University Ranking has placed NCU in the top 4% of universities in the world. The University Library was officially established in September 1945, a fortnight after the establishment of NCU. Apart from 1000,000 books and almost 500,000 periodicals and regular publications, the Library has some 500,000 special items including 48,000 old prints (213 incunabula) and 4,100 manuscripts. It also has valuable collections of drawings, charts, musical scores, and other documents of social life. The total number of items amounts to over 2.5 million and places the University Library in Toruń amongst the largest in Poland. The collection of old books contains many scientific and literary works, including a collection of all the editions of the works of the University's patron Nicolaus Copernicus. Among others, it has the first and third edition of De revolutionibus orbium coelestium. University Sports Centre provides students with a wide range of sports activities such as basketball, volleyball, aerobics, yoga, steam gym, swimming, judo, aikido, and cycling. Students may also play tennis at NCU Tennis courts or attend horse riding lessons. It is important to notice that the number of students admitted to each class is limited and that priority is given to those who have PE (Physical Education) obligatory in their curriculum. The Od Nowa Club is the most well-known students' club in Toruń. It is the organizer of almost all student cultural events. Various musical concerts take place there, including weekly jazz meetings. Od Nowa often features well-known popular performers, including foreign bands, representing various musical styles. It also houses Gallery 011 where students of Fine Arts present their works. 11. Founded in 1947 by a group of Missionary Church visionaries, the goal was to create leaders for the world. In the seven decades that have passed since then, we have succeeded in that mission! While some things have changed on campus, we've continued to be intentional as we guide students along in their spiritual journey and path to academic success in some key ways: Our students' spiritual formation is about creating a holistic approach for each student's spiritual journey and personal discovery. That begins with being faithful to God and his word. Mentoring is a part of the Bethel community where students can connect with their peers, faculty, staff, and even alumni. At Bethel, students build lifelong relationships that will continue well past graduation. Academics in over 50 areas of study allow students to explore, grow, and prepare for their future careers. Each field of study is rich with knowledgeable professors seeking the success of our students. Every fall, students return to campus, ready to grow and ready to engage in experiences that will shape them for their future roles in the world. From undergraduate programs that train nurses to sign language interpreters to musicians to athletes, our students impact the world. Our students are offered many opportunities through task force trips, internships, and, finally, careers. We can offer more grad courses now than in the past through an expanded online program. Bethel offers graduate programs online, on-campus, and some as hybrids. We offer master's degrees in business administration (Online MBA), counseling (M.A. in Counseling Online), education (including Master's in Education Online, a school administrator license, Special Education Licensure Online, Transition to Teaching Licensure Program – On-campus (evening courses), Master of Reading and Literacy Online, Online Masters Degree in Educational Leadership), ministry (Master of Ministry Degree Online), Nursing (, Educator's track and Administrator track), Teaching, Theological Studies (Master of Ministry and Master of Arts in Theology). The experiences do not end when students leave campus. In our Bethel Community Stories section, we share stories about our alumni, as well as reports on current students, donors, faculty, staff, and friends whom we hope to provide inspiration and seeds of wisdom. We are a Christian community of learners dedicated to building lives of commitment to leadership in the Church and the world. Bethel provides liberating academic and co-curricular programs to challenge the mind, enlarge the vision, and equip the whole person for lifelong service. Our goal is to partner with our students and families to connect them with the resources they need to help their dreams become a reality. Your education at Bethel College is an investment in your future. We are confident that your time at Bethel will help you become the best version of yourself, with your future potential to become even more than you can imagine! Financial aid, grants, scholarships, loans – it can be overwhelming and confusing. While there are common steps for every institution for financial aid, there are also some unique requirements. Federal Aid – financial aid from the federal government, is available to help you pay for education expenses. Grants (Pell, TEACH, SEOG), loans (subsidized, unsubsidized, PLUS), and work-study are federal student aid types you must complete the FAFSA to apply for this aid. More information regarding federal aid can be found on their site. State Aid – Indiana residents may be eligible for grants from the state of Indiana to be applied to their direct tuition costs. These grants are need-based, and the FAFSA must be completed by April 15th to be considered for any applicable state grants. More information regarding state financial aid. Institutional Awards – Bethel College awards many types of institutional scholarships and grants to full-time undergraduate students. Awards may be based on merit or need and may be restricted to tuition costs only. Financial aid awards and policies are subject to change—review list of an expanded list of institutional awards and financial aid policies. Students can apply for an alternative loan to cover remaining educational expenses, but most will need a credit-worthy cosigner. Based on the federal government's criteria, students who receive federal financial aid may be selected for verification. This process is designed to verify the financial information provided on the FAFSA. A verification worksheet and federal tax information is required to complete the process. Additional information may also be requested. To be considered for all financial aid, information must be submitted within 30 days of the college's written request. In no instance will verification information be processed beyond the student's enrollment period. All federal, state, and institutional grants and scholarships will post to your student account at the start of each semester, once all requirements have been met. Some grants or scholarships may have minimum enrollment, or housing requirements endowed scholarships often require a thank-you note from the recipient to be sent to the donor. Some federal programs require additional steps to be completed before funds being released, such as the direct loan and TEACH grant. From the original Oakwood-Slater Hall and Shupe Hall for underclassmen to the newer Logan Village for upper-level students, there's a rich history in our student dorms. In your home away from home, you'll build close friendships and always support our Student Life Staff. Bethel College's Spiritual Life is often referred to as the heartbeat of campus. Whether you are in the chapel, the classroom, or the dorm, you will find opportunities to grow spiritually. Three times a week, students and staff gather together for chapel. With student-led worship and a variety of speakers, this weekly practice allows the Bethel community to engage different perspectives and experiences. Our Spiritual Life team puts on events to engage the campus in spiritual practices and disciplines throughout the year. Read through the Bible in a weekend during Scripture 66, participate in prayer stations during the Collegiate Day of Prayer, or join the weekly alternative service, Vespers. Most significantly, though, Bethel College is a community of discipleship. There is a vibrant mentoring program on campus, and staff, faculty, and students all reap the benefits of these relationships. We hope you will take part in this essential piece of the Bethel experience. View full university
  12. Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences was founded on 1 January 1988 by merging nineteen educational institutes in Rotterdam, Delft, and Dordrecht. This was the start of a school for higher education in Rotterdam and the surrounding area. Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences has more than 36,000 students and more than 3,500 employees. There are various programs to choose from across all educational sectors, except in the agrarian sector. Our education is closely connected to developments in the metropolitan region of Rotterdam. Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences has more than 36,000 students and more than 3,500 employees. There are various programs to choose from across all educational sectors, except in the agrarian sector. Our education is closely connected to developments in the metropolitan region of Rotterdam. The merger resulted in an organization that was divided into four faculties. The Faculty of Educational Programmes included the former pabo schools (secondary teacher training) in Rotterdam and Dordrecht, the Teacher Training school in Delft, de Nutsacademie, and part-time teacher training programs in Rotterdam and the province of Zeeland. The Faculty of Visual Arts and Architecture included those two academies. The Polytechnics Faculty included the higher technical school of Dordrecht and two programs for laboratory training in Rotterdam and Delft, the Academy for Nautical Training, and higher education for Maritime Mechanical Engineering. The Faculty of Health, Labour Relations, and Health Care consisted of the Social Academy, the higher education school of Youth Welfare, and Nursing, the Academy of Physical Therapy, and schooling for Speech Therapy. Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences stands for inclusive, high-quality education. We organize our education to be context-rich. Students, lecturers, researchers, and professionals are working together in a work-study environment. In the education vision of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, we identify characteristics and basic principles of our education. The content and application of that vision are in the hands of the lecturer teams. They realize and organize education that fits their students, the professions they are educating for, and their specific study program's identity. Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences has chosen to commit to the expanding city of Rotterdam. Society has not stopped developing, and neither has the city. More and more potential students find their way to Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. Often these are kids of immigrant parents, the first generation of families in this country to enroll at a school of higher education. This asked for a different approach because this new generation of students was less prepared for the independent study. Therefore, Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences presented a new and finely tuned policy. Using the motto 'Exceed Expectations,' the school wanted to challenge all youth to achieve the maximum result during their studies, including the disadvantaged group. The project 'Study Success for Everyone' and stimulating education using the Rotterdam Education Model needed to make this ambition possible. The school's role as an institute of higher education for this region was given more emphasis. The clusters were divided into eleven institutes better to connect education, research, and contract education. Although the institutes were given some freedom to develop, the school ensured that school policies' unity would be kept intact. In September 2012, Ron Bormans was appointed Chairman of the Executive Board of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. His role in the organization and his observations led to a thorough analysis of the school's state and current situation. The most important conclusions were presented in his Focus program. The shortest summary is that the school was doing well but was still not doing everything well. The connection with Rotterdam was the right choice. Thus, education and research were better connected to the city, and a hefty investment was made in reaching the youth of Rotterdam and keeping them in school. Investment in the quality of lecturers was also on the rise. But the school still did not achieve enough. The school continued to focus on the broad and diverse student population, as is Rotterdam, but the quality of education needed to improve. For that reason, the Focus program turned the school's complete attention to the quality of our Bachelor education. The intrinsic bond between students and lecturers needed to be more vital to increase Study Success, and education needed to profit more from applied research. The Focus program started another way of working and thinking within the school. Guidelines are placing more responsibility with lecturer teams and supporting management, services, and staff.

  18. The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) is a private Catholic higher education institution founded by the Lebanese Maronite Order (LMO) in 1938. From that moment, these monks, who had been entrusted with a teaching mission for more than three centuries, have undertaken the management of USEK. Their remit was to provide university teaching in conformity with the labor market requirements and close association with scientific research. Being a national institution, USEK has brought its teachings and curricula into line with the Lebanese state's official requirements, which acknowledges the diplomas it delivers. Furthermore, USEK remains careful in achieving a synthesis of tradition and modernism in the educational options it offers while remaining true to a Christian humanism, which is imprinted on the general education it provides. Due to the pressure to democratize higher education, the University is deploying necessary efforts to fight exclusion and abide by a non-elitist policy, albeit without making any concessions concerning education quality. The establishment of decentralized regional centers (in Zahle, Chekka, and Rmeich) thus springs out of the wish to implement the right to higher education. USEK has adapted well in light of soaring socioeconomic development and has created new vocational specializations to diversify its education and meet the needs of the labor market. Nowadays, USEK welcomes more than 8,000 students across its twelve faculties and three institutes, i.e., fifteen academic units, which offer a broad array of diversified high-level education. Studies in USEK are based on the modular system of units, which are accounted for on a half-year basis, or "credits." Also, the adoption of such a structure enables students to enjoy flexibility on all levels for the prospective degree courses' academic and financial management. It also enables the Promotion of students' mobility in Lebanon and abroad: Credits can be accumulated and transferred from one University to another. Personalization of the students' training: Each student's academic course is adapted to his(her) personal and vocational project. Flexible Organisation of the semester: Students are allowed the freedom to choose the number of credits (while abiding by the minimum and maximum numbers set by the University) and the courses taken during the semester (out of a group of courses that are required for a given curriculum), thus enabling them to ameliorate how they set their schedule. Development of close pedagogical support: The teachers' follow-up and support are reinforced by the fact that thanks to this system, education is centered on the students. The offer of diversified courses to students promotes a multidisciplinary approach and exchanges within and among disciplines. Facilitation reorientation: Thanks to the establishment of links among the various education courses proposed, students can easily change their curriculum without losing all their achievements. USEK cultivates a strong feeling of belonging among its students, thanks to its welcoming student life and the multiple services. Hence, outside the framework of courses, student life in USEK takes several shapes and offers new occasions to develop new competencies and knowledge and build an extensive network of contacts: a student magazine, social associations, and clubs, pastoral work, cultural trips, student parties, etc. Since the University is keen on emphasizing the culture of the body and that of the mind, it also offers students a broad choice of sports activities. The program includes basketball, volleyball, football, tennis, table tennis, oriental dance, yoga, ski, etc. Also, USEK has several sports teams, which take part regularly in competitions among universities and national and international championships. USEK has always been interested in research activities, as proven by the international magazines published by the University (Melto, Parole de l'Orient), the annals and proceedings of high-level conferences and seminars held at USEK, in addition to the numerous publications, which are the result of individual or collaborative research works and which – by and large – pertain to a broad theme of diversification, namely that of the Lebanese and Near-Eastern heritage (musical, theological, liturgical, literary, legal, historical, architectural, technical, scientific, etc.). In this context, exchanges within and among disciplines are promoted, thus establishing links among USEK's faculties and institutes to achieve better collaboration. Moreover, the University has access to much resource equipment earmarked for research activities and put at the disposal of teachers/researchers and students. As higher education became widespread and the socioeconomic crisis in the country grew harsher, USEK has set the following objectives for itself: Make higher education accessible to all equally, without discrimination and, most importantly, without excluding economically deprived students Preserve the quality of its students' education and training to better live in society and their vocational sphere. Since its founding, USEK seeks, and by Article 92 of the Constitutions of the OLM (ed. 2012) and the Catholic Church's social teaching on universities, to contribute to all its students' development through quality educational programs and research in various fields of study. By providing a high-quality American-style education to its students, USEK intends to prepare future leaders for innovation, professional growth, and life-long learning, in Lebanon, within the Middle East, and throughout the world. USEK is committed to a faith-based educational development of its students rooted in the Catholic tradition, whereby spiritual values and ethics and respect for cultural and religious pluralism are promoted.

    Lebanese University

The Lebanese University was established in 1951 to serve the diverse social groups that make up Lebanese society and provide a high-level institution where students can acquire university degrees. It was launched amid a growth in the number of students in grades 10 to 12. The first departments were The High House of Teachers and The Statistics Center. On 3 December 1951, the first class of 68 students entered the University, under the efforts of many professors and educated personalities and the support of the Lebanese President Bechara El Khoury. On 26 February 1953, official decree No. 25 founded a financial and administrative center at the University, called The Institution of Finance and Administration. The High House of Teachers was renamed The High Teachers Institution. The next significant change was 1959's regulating decree No. 2883, which, along with many others between 1960 and 1972, added more material into the University's structure and legalized all of its activities, requiring students to participate, administrators, the different faculties. The Faculty of Public Health aims to educate specialists in health, social and environmental fields, and cooperate and coordinate with public and private institutions, alongside civil organizations in the health, social, and preventive domains. It is also keen on providing theoretical and applied education while ensuring that moral standards and professional ethics are well-adopted. The Faculty of Pharmacy seeks to provide qualified professionals with pharmacies, pharmaceutical industries, and hospitals. It also endeavors to meet the increasing needs for competent pharmaceutical professionals by keeping up with the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences worldwide. The Faculty of Pedagogy is the foundation of the Lebanese University, and was known as the High Teachers Institution when it was established in 1951, before being renamed the Faculty of Pedagogy in 1967. Its current number of students stands at 2327. The Faculty includes two branches other than the Deanery. Its mission is to educate elementary and high school teachers, in addition to other pedagogic frameworks. Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management has been distinguished for its applied orientations, where learning and training are primarily geared towards practical and professional purposes. It teaches students according to the latest scientific and international basics, qualifying them to work in tourism, travel, tourist guidance, and hotel management, whether in Lebanon or other Arab countries. Faculty of Medical Science at the Lebanese University was established in 1983; distinguished students from different social classes in Lebanon had the opportunity to turn their dreams into reality and study medicine. The branches of the Faculty of Medical Sciences were merged in 1996, forming a unit tasked with graduating the best physicians, who would be recognized at the local and global levels, and known for their top-notch scientific competencies, complete training, and professional ethics. The Faculty of Medical Sciences is aware that such a high medical practice level cannot be achieved without focusing on medical research, workshops, and conferences. The Faculty now comprises 1,263 students. The Institute of Fine Arts was established in 1965 and has evolved into four branches and two departments, the Urbanism Department and the Restoration Department. It currently has around 2,930 students. The goals of the Institute of Fine Arts are closely linked to all civilized human phenomena. Indeed, its majors reflect the real civilized face of any society, whether for present or future generations. The artistic works have historically measured the greatness of all civilizations contributed to humanity and human legacy. The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration was established in 1967 as the Faculty of Commerce and was renamed in 1970. The number of students enrolled in this Faculty stands at 7,640 today, divided across six branches, in addition to the Deanery. This Faculty aims at developing highly skilled and specialized professionals in a field that has become the very backbone of modern life, as economies are now intertwined due to globalization. 25. On the seventeenth of January 2005, a Royal Decree was issued to establish Tafila Technical University as a public university that currently contributes to higher education in Jordan. Since then, the university has sought to realize the objectives for which it was established. On top of these objectives are the reinforcement of spiritual and moral values, national pride, Arab Islamic identity, and the development of students' talents, emphasizing the qualities of leadership and citizenship. The ways to realize these objectives include offering higher education opportunities, disseminating knowledge about the constructive role of Arab-Islamic civilization in the progress of human civilizations, and meeting the communal need for specialists in science and technology arts. Having a qualified generation would help our country encounter contemporary and future challenges in various fields of life. The university also encourages scientific research, sets findings into practice, and uses modern technologies for the overall development of Jordan. Tafila Technical University has seven colleges: Engineering, Science, Business, Education, Arts, Student Affairs, and scientific research and graduate studies. The number of university students at the beginning of 2016 has reached approximately six thousand students spread over different programs: Bachelor program, two-year intermediate diploma program, higher diploma program, and master program. The number of faculty members has recently reached (237), whereas the administrative staff amounted to (631). The university has taken quick, confident steps towards the consolidation and assimilation of e-learning, online registration, and information technology among students and faculty members. Also, computer courses are regularly held for staff members to develop their computer skills the Computer Center has an integrated infrastructure, several computer laboratories, and technical competencies in the fields of computer and information technologies. The university has forged strategic partnerships with such international organizations as Microsoft, Cisco, and the Center for International Computer Driving License. Today, both students and employees realize that all academic departments' lectures start on the first day of the semester. As I demonstrate an equal interest in scientific research and scholarships, all faculty members should immediately submit their research proposals. Another merit of TTU is the small number of its enrolled students. The total number of enrolled students is similar to many reputed American universities such as Harvard and Princeton. This makes it feasible to communicate with students, provide them with educational and recreational activities, supervise their extracurricular activities, train them in the fields of their specializations, and enhance communication between students and their professors. Being the university president, I encourage students and their teachers to engage in constant conversations and dialogues. An additional merit of TTU is that students whose grade point average (GPA) in the General Secondary Certificate is below the minimum average for admission in other public universities can apply for diploma programs. If students get the minimum GPA for admission in Shamel or the comprehensive exam, they can transfer to bachelor programs. To offer study programs and disciplines of applied technology according to international academic standards. To support applied scientific research under the standards of advanced research and employ it to realize economic and social development in Jordan. To attract outstanding academic faculty, raise their capabilities, and continue their work for the university. To have a campus with the potential to polish students' personalities, develop their skills, and cultivate their creativity and innovative spirit. To enhance cooperation between the university and the local community. To develop a TTU campus and provide public services and the necessary infrastructure. To support quality assurance, which contributes to the development of the university. To efficiently manage financial resources. TTU seeks to be a leading university with a prestigious international scientific reputation that can domesticate and assimilate technical development and employ applied scientific methods to meet the community's current and future needs.
