      About Me

      1. RAS offers an outstanding American education with top-notch international teachers. Our teaching staff holds teaching degrees from the US, Canada, and the UK. Professional development days are embedded into the school calendar for teachers to work together to keep abreast of best educational practices. Our goal at RAS is to educate the whole child through inquiry-based learning. This includes a strong co-curricular program that offers a variety of activities to appeal to the interests of all students, such as sports, dance, music, and art. Our curriculum follows the Common Core Standards for Math and Language Arts, Next Generation Standards for Science, and the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) for Social Studies. What sets us apart are our four General Learning Outcomes (GLOs): problem-solving/thinking skills, communication skills, character/interpersonal skills, and organization/research skills. These 4 GLOs are the backbone of both our educational and co-curricular programs and are assessed throughout the year in all areas. Important in all aspects of life, these four skills bridge the academic world to the real world. RAS is one of the premier educational facilities in Southeast Asia. This includes state-of-the-art athletic facilities including two gymnasiums, an Olympic-size swimming pool, a learning pool, tennis courts, two soccer pitches, a track, and a baseball field. The fine Arts Center consists of a 750-person auditorium, black-box theater, practice rooms, and classrooms. Our custom-designed science labs are complemented with a greenhouse and planetarium. The cafeteria offers nutritional choices for snacks and lunches because we understand the relationship between good nutrition and increased student learning. Raffles American School is a learning community that empowers students to achieve their academic and life potential. RAS serves students Pre-K through 12th grade. Our rigorous and rich academic and co-curricular programs encourage student growth through a learning outcome approach, acknowledging multiple types of intelligence and paths to learning. We facilitate student success through collaboration with parents, a balanced focus on intellectual, emotional, physical, and social progress, and a profound belief that all students can learn. At every grade level and in every subject area, students will be given the opportunity to be exposed, to practice, and to be given feedback on their demonstration of our General Learning Outcomes. The American Curriculum is a rigorous, standards-based system that aims to educate the whole child for the successful realization of dreams and goals. We understand that choosing the best school for your child/ren is an important decision for your family. At RAS, we take great pride in our mission to empower students to achieve their full potential. As an accredited American school with a holistic mission, we provide students with the opportunity to grow academically, creatively, socially, and emotionally. With a staff of highly qualified teachers, a rich curricular and co-curricular environment, and an internationally diverse student body, RAS provides students with the resources they need to gain valuable 21st-century skills in a supportive learning environment. As you take the opportunity to get to know RAS through our website and our admissions process, meet our staff and consider the needs of your family, we believe you will find RAS a valuable choice for your child’s future. 2. Welcome to the American Community School Beirut! Whether you are visiting our website for the first time as a prospective parent, an alumnus looking to reengage with the school, a current parent looking for the latest news, or a friend wanting to learn more about who we are, I hope that you find this site informative and helpful. We were founded way back in 1905 as the Faculty School, to serve families of the American University of Beirut (AUB). Today, we are an accredited and secular, not-for-profit, independent American college preparatory school. We serve a multi-cultural international student body and provide an internationally enriched, standard-based American curriculum. We enroll 1080 students, and our campus is in the heart of Ras Beirut, with the Mediterranean Sea on one side of us, and AUB, the preeminent University in the Middle East on the other. ACS is the one school in this region that is truly both American and international. We teach all our classes in English save our foreign language classes that are conducted in Arabic and French. We are chartered in New York, and our Board of Trustees Chairs and Heads of School have always come from the States. We prepare all our students for the American High School Diploma, but our high school students can also elect to take either the International Baccalaureate or the Lebanese Baccalaureate. Currently, our students hold passports from 64 different countries. While over 50% of our students are of Lebanese origin, we have several faculty children from AUB and LAU, and we have several children whose parents are in Lebanon as aid workers with different NGOs. Our mission reads “ACS empowers students to solve problems with creativity and integrity, to lead well-balanced lives, and to serve Lebanon and the world community with compassion and understanding.” We are focused on helping our students to become critical thinkers, develop their voices, and fulfill their academic potential. We challenge our students to be their best, but also provide them with a great deal of support. Students at ACS find balance through a wealth of opportunities in the arts and athletics, and we have an extensive community service program. Our students from all grade levels have access to the ACS Nature and Outdoor Education Center located in Deir El Qamar - a thoughtfully designed off-campus site that fosters and supports an appreciation for the natural beauty that exists in Lebanon and adds depth to an already excellent academic education. There are numerous opportunities to travel throughout the region with teams, on service trips, and our week without walls. The heart of the ACS education is not, however, our programs or the campus it is the relationship between our faculty and students and the bond they establish as they engage in learning. While our website captures this through vivid imagery and a clear overview of what we do, I encourage you to visit our campus and get in contact with us firsthand. Discover what learning should be like everywhere. Discover the unique excellence that is the American Community School Beirut. ACS empowers students to solve problems with creativity and integrity, to lead well-balanced lives, and to serve Lebanon and the world community with understanding and compassion. Students learn at different rates and in different ways. Setting high expectations for ourselves and our students. Empowering students to be critical thinkers and independent learners. Working collaboratively with all members of our community. Understanding and utilizing innovative teaching and learning. Creating a safe environment for students to take risks and learn from their mistakes. Facilitating students’ intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth. Engaging students in relevant and reflective learning. Encouraging students to explore different forms of personal expression. Providing opportunities for students to make choices, to lead, and to demonstrate responsibility. Supporting students to be caring, empathetic, respectful, and tolerant Students achieve success by being active participants in their learning. Students develop character through engagement with others from different backgrounds and through interaction within the community. Health services at ACS are provided through two infirmaries. The upper school infirmary is located in the upper school building and the lower school infirmary is in the administration building (BD). Both are fully equipped with over-the-counter medications, beds to rest in, medical equipment, physical screening tools, and first aid supplies. The goal of the school nurse is to promote a healthy environment for the students, prevent and control the occurrence and spread of infectious and/or communicable diseases, and maintain and supervise the provision of food services at school in a healthy nutritious no-junk plan. The active involvement of students, families, faculty, and staff creates the energy and enthusiasm that characterize the ALS We believe that service to others teaches young people to be productive and effective citizens, and we challenge ALS students to find passion and purpose beyond themselves. ALS offers meaningful opportunities in the classroom and through service learning for students to participate actively in our school, local neighborhoods, and abroad. We seek to inspire the compassion and international awareness necessary for students to contribute responsibly to the global community. We offer a strong academic program, including the Lebanese Baccalaureate Program (LP) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IP). Our graduates progress to excellent universities around the world. ALS emphasizes the importance of education being a collaborative exercise, involving the student, the teachers, and the family. We work together with parents in helping each student maximize his or her potential, both academically and socially. We welcome parent involvement in the school and encourage continued communication. 4. The National American School was first launched in the academic year 2000-2001 by visionary people who saw the benefit of a new secular school in Zahle that accommodates students searching for a unique and untraditional education. N.A.S. is a leading educational institution that has carved a niche for itself among other schools in the area. Located in the middle of the Bekaa Valley on the outskirts of Zahle, it caters to students from Nursery to Grade 12 in both the Lebanese and American curricula. Instruction for both programs is in English. Its location has enabled it to have students from all surrounding villages spreading from the north to the south of the valley. The well-organized and thoroughly studied curriculum of the N.A.S. and the dedication of its faculty members have enabled its students to harvest amazing results in the Lebanese official exams as well as in the SATs and university entrance exams. The Lebanese have been sailing the seas for centuries but most often they come back to their homeland to plant new roots and establish relationships with their homeland and original community. Hence, the application of the American System Program in the school. This program allows students with foreign nationalities to learn an atmosphere similar to the one they came from and yet maintain a sense of discipline and ethnicity. We believe the school’s motto: For a Better Tomorrow, Today has been well served and implemented. We work together to provide our students: The best possible start in life. A good quality education. The best opportunity to develop his/her full potential and contribute to society in a meaningful way. The diligence and dedication of very qualified and experienced teachers and administrators have expeditiously made NAS a leading educational institute in both the Lebanese Program as well as the International. Our Core Values are: A student is an individual worthy of our care and attention. Education is a powerful weapon that should be used to change the world. The International Program (American System) is taught in English and using international textbooks. The students registered are generally from Lebanese families returning from abroad or from non-Lebanese families working in Lebanon as well as students who have studied three consecutive years outside of Lebanon. The International Program, which occupies a separate department, leads to a High School Diploma with all students sitting for the SAT Reasoning Test. Every year, for our Graduation Ceremony, we have a new theme for our invitation card that is reflected in the platform we build for the event, where we try to send our students off into the world with a bit of educational splendor. The talented architect who has been helping us for the past few years suggested the theme “Let them fly away…”. The expression might carry negative annotations to the cynical in mind, but it also carries the most positive ones to the great-hearted. A school does not chain and bind but rather it sets free minds manacled by chaos and irresponsibility. A school is a place where students are trained to fly away for the first time. It is the place where they are taught to use their imagination to carry them to new places. It is also the place where the student first learns to be an independent intellectual, capable of great and rich feats. All that is the work of schools that set minds and souls free from the bondage of ignorance. Ignorance is the plague of our society today. Our young people’s interests nowadays are so trivial and redundant, making it easy for evil to creep into their impressionable and often ignorant immature minds, twisting all the goodness inside them to form horrible monstrous people capable of doing heinous crimes against their society and also against humanity. As educators, we strongly believe in the power of education. Education that opens minds and hearts to the value of human life, and the importance of accepting our fellow human beings, thus enriching our lives and existence. Helen Keller believes that “The greatest result of education is tolerance”. Socrates said, “There is only one good, knowledge, and only one evil, ignorance”. Let’s work towards the annihilation of evil and ignorance, and setting our students free, through the spreading of education and knowledge. View full school
      5. The American Creativity Academy is a private school that delivers a standards-based American curriculum within an environment in which Islamic values are respected and practiced. The school is dedicated to preparing students for university success. The American Creativity Academy (ACA) was founded in 1997 by a group of visionaries who wanted to establish a school in Kuwait which offered a unique blend of an American curriculum while respecting and practicing local values. We are fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. We were authorized to offer the IBDP in 2008. ACA is a growing and mixed physical entity. ACA operates on two separate campuses minutes apart by car in the suburb of Hawalli. Our student population is 100 % English Language Learners (ELL). The majority of our students have been born in Kuwait. Most of our students are Arab nationals and Arabic is their first spoken language. The students are expected to master both English and Arabic languages simultaneously. Our students are dedicated to the success and work hard towards achieving excellence. We are a college preparatory school and one hundred percent of our graduates are college-bound and attend universities around the world. The curriculum is American standards-based from KG to grade 12. We offer an Enrichment Program in grades 2 to 8 and an Honors Program in grades 9 and 10. Students entering grade 11 may choose to participate in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program or continue with the regular standards-based American education. Our school community consists of over 3,500 students and 350 staff members. Our students have achieved excellent results in sports, Ministry of Education competitions, interscholastic conferences, community activities, and overall academic success. We are a college preparatory school and have had 100% of our graduates attend universities around the world. The school year runs from September to June and has a minimum instructional period of 172 days divided into two semesters. A curriculum that is “standards-based” indicates specific criteria that define what students are expected to learn and be able to perform, and usually includes both content standards and performance standards. At ACA, the curriculum is always reviewed and revised. Each academic year, one subject area is subject to intense evaluation. Groups of specialized teachers and administrators work on updating the current curriculum in the selected subject, as well as the associated resources. By the end of the school year, there will be an updated curriculum for the particular subject. The other subjects are also under general review, to assess the need for development. By the end of each academic year, the curriculum can be modified using the information gathered. In September 2012, ACA purchased the Atlas software, which is used as a curriculum mapping tool. The software facilitates curriculum management to allow teachers more time in the classroom. Using this software allows the teachers to keep continuity in the students’ records for future reference. ACA has achieved full implementation of Atlas across all core and non-core subjects. The curriculum at ACA is alive, developing, and in continuous change. There is no time where we will have a perfect curriculum. By initiating reviews, the school will not wait for an external change to make modifications to the curriculum, on the contrary, the school updates the curriculum by looking at the changes around the world and technology. 6. We are a large PK-12 private, independent school with a school student population now of just over 2000 students. Students are greeted daily by just under 350 caring professionals who support every facet of our large school operation. 210 teachers, administrators, and school leaders ensure that our American international education meets the needs of our diverse student body consisting of sixty percent Kuwaitis, twenty-five percent other Arabs, and the balance of students from North America to other parts of Asia. AIS Kuwait inspires students to become critical thinkers and contributing world citizens through rigor and balance in a nurturing educational environment. At AIS, nurturing students to reach their potential is our fundamental purpose. We believe strongly in guiding students to develop strength of character and to experience learning in ways that are motivational and which provide the impetus for action, creativity, and service. Students are very much at the center of our educational program and this provides the path to collaborative curricular engagement. Our PreK-12 education captures the essence of Kuwait, the region, and the larger international context of our International Baccalaureate World School. Our students and staff represent multiple nationalities and cultures and strive together as one. As we learn together, we gain from one another’s experiences and ways of knowing. At AIS, we are impacted by our circumstances and are better prepared to join the world outside of our school due to such engagement. AIS is growth-minded and reaches continuously for improvement. Our commitment to our School Improvement Plan (SIP) underscores our focus on being a premier international school, one that provides students a meaningful, rewarding, safe, and college-preparatory education. Incremental planning and collaboration set the tone and we are involved in initiatives that extend and advance our curriculum, while often leading the way through coaching and innovation. We strive to develop students who are balanced and who appreciate rigor and learning by taking action. We fully understand that taking risks and being supported along the way leads to meeting one’s potential. Our program offers many academic options, leading students to be career-focused early in their educational journey. Numerous experiences in athletics and activities provide further opportunities for learning and support student mental fitness. We regularly celebrate high achievement, making progress, finding a solution, and the game-winning goal. Every member of our 300+ staff provides opportunities for our students to be engaged in their learning and is supported in doing so. We acknowledge that we must collaborate to ensure achievement and personal development. We engage our educational staff to develop their skills and to be impacted by the progressive nature of our curricular program. We are fortunate to be supported by a strong Board leading us to be better able to realize our success together at just the right time and to learn from one another’s passions. View full school
      7. The American Academy for Girls is part of the Al-Jeel Al-Jadeed Educational Institute founded in 1964. The institute began with one school, the Al-Jeel Al-Jadeed School in Hawally, and was later joined by the Nasser School in Salmiya in 1969. These two schools were joined in 1993 by The English Academy in Jabriya, the first school in Kuwait to take the title ‘Academy’. Following the founding of these three schools, the board then turned its attention to a very different and very exciting project, the proposal being to establish a school based on the American educational system, to help the young women of Kuwait achieve their true educational potential. This was the birth of the American Academy for Girls, a truly proud moment. AAG was awarded dual accreditation by the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) in the year 2001. It was a major accomplishment for a school so young to be awarded dual accreditation only six short years after its inception. The Al-Jeel Al-Jadeed Educational Institute continues to be a pioneering spirit in educational initiatives in Kuwait, a reputation the board is extremely proud to have and maintain. The American Academy for Girls is a private, single-gender school, which provides an American-style education crafted to meet Kuwait educational requirements and encourages students in their pursuit of academic excellence. AAG’s high-quality and integrated early childhood program provides a safe and nurturing environment while promoting the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of young children. It is designed to foster our young students a lifelong love of learning. We strongly believe that all children should be allowed to experience the very best possible start to their education. Through various developmentally appropriate activities, we will help to ensure that your daughter enjoys her learning environment and continues to flourish during her school years in the future and beyond. The Early Childhood Education Department consists of three divisions: Pre-KG, KG1, and KG2. English Language Arts, Math, Health Education, Social Studies, Science, Arabic, and Islamic Religion are all the subjects taught in the department. The Common Core States Standards (CCSS) are used for English and Math. The American Educators Reach Out (AERO) standards are used for Science and Social Studies. Specialty teachers instruct the students in Library, Physical Education (PE), Art, and Music. View full school
      8. Arab-American Bilingual Academy is committed to providing students with the best of two worlds empowering them with the knowledge that diversity of culture and background is a strength to be respected. Students are encouraged to meet academic challenges with openness, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn. AABA offers an English-Arabic bilingual education from Pre-K through to year 12. The bilingual aspect of the school is its most distinctive feature. Learning through another language gives students a level of second language skills not achievable through a regular language arts program. Perhaps more importantly, a bilingual education prepares children for life in a rapidly changing world, while still maintaining contact with their Arab cultural heritage. Our vision at AABA is to inspire commitment, responsibility, enthusiasm, and creativity with a desire to learn. A unique feature of our school is the scheduled activities that allow children to communicate, explore experiment and discover at their own level. Students have access to a computer lab necessary for today's growing technologies age. We are starting a Drama Club to open the child's imagination to role-play and encourage personal expression. The Kindergarten section has a qualified facilitator who monitors the children's progress as they master many life skills such as pouring, carrying, and sewing necessary for the fine motor skills needed to have good penmanship. The Science Lab is a safely equipped lab utilized for experiments with water, plant life, and various science activities. Reading lessons take place in our bilingual Library complete with appropriate books on various subjects. We are also pleased to inform you that our school has applied for CIS accreditation. A CIS accreditation guarantees excellence in all stages and aspects of school-based education. CIS assures a school, and the community it serves, that an accredited institution provides a quality education program for students based upon a clearly defined philosophy and objectives that are appropriate for the school's unique population. Arab-American Bilingual Academy is dedicated to building generations of students who strive to excel academically, are proud of their culture and beliefs, and are open-minded to the world. Arab-American Bilingual Academy is committed to providing students with the best of two worlds empowering them with the knowledge that diversity of culture and background is a strength to be respected. Students are encouraged to meet academic challenges with openness, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn. View full school

      12. American Pacific International School (APIS) was created by Kritsanant Palarit and opened for its first academic year in August 1997. Kritsanant’s founding vision was to provide the same opportunities and advantages of a western-style education and boarding program (in a Thai setting), that prepares all students for university-level studies. APIS aims to provide a quality education program for students in Pre Nursery through Grade12, based on international education standards, delivered in the English language through a constructivist approach. The Main Boarding Campus (MBC) was established in 1997, teaching students in Grades 7-10 in a remote setting with both boarding and day school options. This campus has seen many changes over the years, including growth in grade levels to include Grades 1 – 12 and in 2015 the application to become an IBO – Middle Years Program school. In 2000, APIS opened a Kindergarten campus in Chiangmai. This kindergarten campus provided the same mission-driven education for our youngest students in Nursery through Kindergarten 3. In 2009, both campuses adopted the IBO Primary Years Program as a framework for curriculum delivery. In 2014, due to the growth of the Kindergarten campus, a new purpose-built facility was created and now serves students from Pre Nursery (PN) through Grade 5. The new campus is referred to as American Pacific International School Primary (APISP). Today, APIS and APISP host over 400 students across both campuses, PN – Gr. 12 with more than 20 nationalities representing our diverse student population. The school continues to remain as a mission-driven school, focused on internationally-minded, happy, life-long learners. View full school

      14. With the world changing at an incredibly unimaginable speed, our education system seems to not be able to catch up with this acceleration at all. With the coming of the industry 4.0 era where 50% of the work will be replaced by AI and Robots, students of the next generation will be heavily challenged to compete with machines. Traditional content-based curriculum can no longer cater to the needs of the real world. Instead, project and skill-based learning along with technology and research skills will dominate the future world of education. In line with the technological hub of Hsinchu, Pacific American School (PAS), has begun to meet this challenge by implementing the interdisciplinary project and skill-based learning, targeted to solve real-world problems and further integrate design thinking, into our curriculum. While cloud technology and service are a definite reality to our next generation of children, PAS has jump-started the education revolution in Taiwan by implementing innovative educational practices. We have successfully created several coding, data modeling, and robotics courses for our students while advocating a different variety of courses to fulfill the different industries that will come along with the industry. Education has to be diversified to create opportunities for the skill sets needed in different industries rather than traditionally favored professions. With over 100 classes offered, Students at PAS are encouraged to follow their hearts in every crossroad of their lives and every critical phase of decision making, since passion is the driving force behind all decisions, without which any learning and pursuit will not make sense. Passion serves as the energy that keeps PAS and our students going. It is a powerful force supporting us to accomplish tasks our hearts set to do It gives our life meaning, happiness, excitement, anticipation, and also possibilities to the fullest extent. Through many years of dedicated involvement with education, I have formed my belief in this new practice. I believe in creating hands-on opportunities for students I believe in helping students develop skills needed in the professional world of the 21st century I believe that effective learning lies in an interdisciplinary approach with technology. While the world rapidly moves ahead into a new realm, education has to change to cater to those needs, so that our next generation will not be challenged and replaced by AI machines. While our students have been equipped with the skills needed in any phase of their life pursuit, they will have to continue to embrace changes and conquer challenges, using the tools they have acquired at our American school. Hence, no matter what the obstacle will be ahead, they will always be able to handle these obstacles with their creative minds and useful tools. At PAS, all students are encouraged to pay attention and stay aware of what is happening in our world, whether it is new technological development, social and political movements, international relations, economic advancement, in the design and fashion industry, or the hospitality field. They are also encouraged to dream big, apply their creative minds and entrepreneurial spirit, to create and implement new ideas and perspectives so that they can always stand high in this highly competitive and fast-changing world of today. 15. Hsinchu County American School (HCAS) was established in 2016 to fulfill the vision of Dr. Johnson Korrnell Huang to challenge the current education system in Taiwan. In summary, he saw the need to produce students who will have a lasting impact on society - changing the world and saving lives. Dr. Huang also envisioned students who will stop, think (critically), and act (fearlessly). Dr. Huang believes that just as the purpose of a hospital is to save lives and to alleviate pain, the mission of a good school is to influence future generations and to create aspirations. By combining the Western educational principles with Chinese educational philosophies, students at HCAS will benefit by learning the best of both cultures while being oriented and setting their standards toward North America. Regardless of whether our students decide their futures in Taiwan or abroad, they will be equipped for success in our complex globalized society. There are many stakeholders at Hsinchu County American School (HCAS). These stakeholders include the Board of Trustees, parents, teachers, students, and members of the administration as well as the staff. Two of the important functions of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) are to streamline the communication between parents and our school and to give support to our school. PTA at HCAS was not created from an appointment from the school nor by the election from the parent body. Parents from all grades simply began to gather on a volunteer basis to share their concerns in an ad hoc manner until the body formed its organization and momentum. HCAS then naturally decided to formally recognize this gathering as the official PTA meeting. As described by Horace Mann, individuals organized in voluntary associations, just as our education should be taught by the spirit, methods, and discipline of a free society. Currently, parent representatives from all grades meet once a month at our school. At Hsinchu County American School (HCAS), student council members are elected every academic year to represent the student body and to serve as a channel for communication for administration and other stakeholders of the community. Student Council provides a unique opportunity to put forward the issues and policies that matter to students. As originally espoused by John Dewey, student council activities often engage students in learning about democracy and leadership. HCAS expects our student council members to voice their opinions and concerns politely and confidently to our parents, teachers, admins, and fellow student body. Therefore, we anticipate HCAS student council members to demonstrate a higher level of maturity in character and merit in academics. The goals and purposes of special councils and associations in the school are to build up our community in the spirit of collaboration and democracy. We anticipate constructive voices which will help move the school forward in a positive manner. Student council members should not trivialize democracy, but rather cherish it. View full school
      16. New Taipei City is Taiwan's largest municipality many professional Taiwanese citizens and foreign expatriates work and live in New Taipei City. It is bewildering then to see that up until now that there has been no international or American school available to this large population. Parents of New Taipei school-aged children who possess a foreign passport and would like to send their youth(s) to a private international or American curriculum school have had to rely on options in central Taipei City. In the past few years, the number of foreign passport holding international school students in Taipei has reached saturation, and many New Taipei City parents are finding their children set aside and placed on waitlists. School founder Allan Liang sought to address this lack of educational opportunity amongst New Taipei City residents and began coordination with the Ministry of Education, and the New Taipei City Bureau of Education. In November 2014 the school was granted and founding license and approval to move forward on planning the construction of New Taipei City's first international American curriculum school Asia American International Academy (AAIA). After filing future school enrollment, AAIA addresses the new Taipei professional expatriate children's education needs, enhance outstanding professional expatriates to settle in the willingness to work the new Taipei, and actively strive to integrate international education resources, to set up a perfect example of a beautiful alien School Construction New Taipei City can improve education platform and learning of English international culture, the development of more high-quality international cultural education. AAIA seeks to prepare students for post-secondary overseas studies. The school will offer career guidance to this end and provide a complete internal mechanism to assist students in completing the application process for first-class universities in the United States of America and Canada. “AAIA is a caring community dedicated to student success.” AAIA challenges students to achieve academic excellence and embody the Expected Schoolwide Learning Outcomes (ESLO’s). AAIA teaches more than academic facts and skills. The Expected Schoolwide Learning Outcomes are life skills that AAIA instills in students to help them succeed in life and contribute to making the world a better place. AAIA is a private, co-educational, independent school offering a college preparatory education to students in grades 6 through grade 12. We are currently in our second academic year welcoming students from grades 6 through grade 10. AAIA has acquired consent for the establishment of our school with the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), the Ministry of Education, and the New Taipei City Bureau of Education. In November of 2014, the school was granted its founding license and approval to move forward on planning the construction of New Taipei City’s first international American curriculum school. 17. Hsinchu American School was established to meet the educational needs of international students, enabling them to be successful in a post-secondary English-based program. Located in scenic Hsinchu, the Silicon Valley of Taiwan, one of the leading knowledge-based economies of Asia, our school has emerged as the only fully licensed international school to grade 12 in the area, due to the concerns from the professional community for an international school that can meet as well as exceeds the expectations of the global community represented here. Hsinchu American School is a co-educational and college-preparatory international school licensed by the Taiwan Ministry of Education and by Hsinchu Education Bureau serving grades 1 through 12. It is registered with the American Institute in Taiwan and is in the process of accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Nestled in the National Art Park, the school is surrounded by a scenic 21,500 sq. meter (6,500 pings) campus with newly renovated and state-of-the-art facilities for student achievement. Our classrooms are loaded with projector screens and wireless internet access. The spacious atrium in the middle of the building offers a safe environment for a diversity of indoor activities and celebrations. The sculpture park and the coming fine arts museum in the National Art Park provides an environment to nurture students’ appreciation of arts and promote their artistic creativity. With our outstanding faculty, Hsinchu American School offers students the opportunity for Advanced Placement with an AP preparatory program from the 6th Grade. The school curriculum is based on the U.S. national McRel Standards, designed for university-bound students in the United States. We are extremely excited about the 2019-2020 school year, as well as moving forward in the future. Not only is this our 15th year, but the school also continues to undergo steady improvement in the areas of instruction, extra-curricular activities, and facilities. We are certain this will be one of the best years in the history of the Hsinchu American School. We are currently in the 5th year of a six-year WASC accreditation period and are looking forward to our next full visit in the spring of 2021. Gaining full accreditation was an arduous process, but we are all proud of the outcome and how it has provided us a mechanism for continual school improvement. We will be sending our new vice-principal, Mrs. Heather Wilson, to the EARCOS Conference this fall to receive training to be our WASC representative on visiting teams. We are also excited here at HAS with the opening of lower elementary grades for the first time in the school’s history. We have hired several fully certified elementary homeroom teachers who will bring a great deal of excitement and energy to the design and creation of this program. The school is also currently constructing a dormitory that should be completed in the fall. This will allow students outside the greater Hsinchu area to attend our school and experience a great international educational program. Hsinchu American School is an innovative school focused on preparing students for the constantly changing climate of the 21st century. The school provides a university preparatory program, for international students, using an American-based curriculum. The school offers a rotating schedule of Advanced Placement courses and places a great deal of importance on math and science courses, allowing advanced students to enroll in higher-level courses based on ability, as a means of propelling them to greater academic heights. Hsinchu American School also strives to provide students with a strong foundation in the classic liberal arts, to enhance their abilities in the four C’s (critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity), and to furnish students with multiple opportunities for experiential learning. HAS is intent upon helping its students become global citizens, critical thinking, and lifelong learners. The program’s focus is to create young adults who can draw upon a plethora of knowledge and skills necessary for life-long success in the modern world. Hsinchu American School’s Schoolwide Learner Goals – the LGs – have emerged from the vision and mission that were created as a foundation and framework for the school. These distinguishing skills and habits of mind and action not only support students in achieving academically but also in self-directed and continual learning, problem-solving, and adaptation. Since their original establishment in the fall of 2011, the LGs have been continuously reviewed, analyzed, and revised by all stakeholders in the school community. They have been most recently revised in the fall of 2013 after multiple sources of input culminating in a set of three areas for student development. View full school

Founded in 1872, this network is the largest Protestant private education system in the world with over 7,790 universities, colleges, high schools, and elementary schools serving the needs of more than 1.8 million students. In the United States alone there are over 1,100 schools in all 50 states. The mission of TAAS is to provide American education to Taiwanese and international students with foreign passports. Its curriculum, teachers, and educational environment are equivalent to an American-based school. This level of quality and professionalism allows its students to enter American schools and universities on the same terms as domestic students. The mission of Taipei Adventist American School is to provide an academically challenging, Seventh-day Adventist, value-based, American education to K-8 Taiwanese and international students with foreign passports in the greater Taipei area. TAAS is committed to a nurturing environment that will provide opportunities for spiritual, academic, social, and physical growth. The vision of TAAS is to be the best-known school in Taipei for providing the most holistic instruction possible by following God’s blueprint for education. Here at TAAS, we understand the importance of training the whole child including the mental, physical, social and spiritual, or moral values. We use a top curriculum with small classes that have proven to be successful for students that have passed through our education system. We also provide opportunities for students to learn outside of the classroom through educational field trips, overnight trips like outdoor school, and even mission trips to other countries. Studies have shown that students who go through our system consistently score at least one grade level higher than the national average for the United States. The longer a child stays in our system, the better the chance they will have to be at the top of their class. We also believe that no matter a child’s academic level, religion, or nationality they can be a part of our school family. We strive to meet each student where they are at and help them grow in a diverse environment. This has proven to help students develop better social skills with those who are different. This in turn will help them be more successful at working with others when they are adults. Here at TAAS, our goal is to provide our children with the best possible education that will help them be successful in all areas of life, especially the spiritual and moral. Many parents have found the Christian setting to be ideal for their children as they experience the love and acceptance our teachers provide. View full school
