  8. Receiving a good education is one of the key cornerstones of life and this is what Qatar International School sets out to achieve. We are a school where, “Learning Comes First,” and this philosophy is understood by staff and students alike. We aim to be the best international school in Qatar and so we strive to provide the best for our students, both inside and outside of the classroom. Like Doha itself, QIS is a very welcoming and friendly place. We strive to make the school environment a safe and secure one that will allow our excellent teachers the opportunity to deliver high-quality lessons and our students the opportunity to develop and learn to the best of their varied and wide-ranging abilities. Whilst recognizing the importance of standards and achievement we also promote and celebrate creativity and diversity. We aim to prepare students for life and the international world of work, not simply examinations. Like all of us, the school is very much on a learning journey, constantly updating our curriculum and improving the way learning is facilitated by always striving to improve our practice. We study the very latest educational research as well as the best of current practice from the UK education system and we believe our offer to students is unique. We are proud of our traditions and we continue to uphold standards in attendance, punctuality, and presentation. Our students must be at school, on time, to learn properly and they should also be appropriately dressed. Our modern uniform has been designed by parents, students, and staff to be more functional and comfortable in terms of fabrics and quality. However, we also believe wholeheartedly that education should be fun. It is the best way to motivate students and instill into them a love and passion for learning. A significant part of the school ethos and improvement plan is to build this enjoyment into our development to engage learners at all levels. We aim to build positive relationships and create and nurture independence in our students, which will carry them forward and stay with them into the future. The ‘ABC’ of Qatar International School- “Aspiring to Excellence Building Futures Celebrating Diversity.” The ABC of Qatar International School is a motto that underpins all the work carried out at QIS that will lead us to become not just the best school in Qatar but one of the best international schools in the world. Through high-quality teaching and learning, we will establish ourselves at the heart of our community locally, nationally, and internationally. QIS will be recognized for its excellent work in all areas of international education and its focus on ‘learning comes first.’ Everyone who belongs to QIS is a learner. The only distinction is where each of us is at on our learning journey. To achieve this we will strive to become: An outstanding and inspirational education provider where every learner will be challenged and allowed to flourish and develop beyond their potential. All learners will aspire to excellence and in so doing will be supported fully by a school that caters creatively for all needs and abilities. A safe, caring, and secure school where every person matters. We will be recognized for the outstanding nature of our care, guidance, and support to staff, students and parents. Quality mentoring and coaching will be available to all, underpinning our investment in people and their personal development. An organization where quality learning comes first, through creative and engaging activities, lessons and relationships. Fundamental learning skills and competencies amongst all students and staff will be a key foundation to developing life-long learning, transferable to all lessons and situations. Everyone, adults and students alike, is on a learning journey that has been personalized, routed, and mapped out just for them. This will be evidenced by an innovative professional development program and forward-looking curriculum, which will empower all learners and encourage them to be active, independent participants in the learning process. A school where students’ thoughtful behavior is the outstanding contributory factor to their successful learning. Positive behaviors are recognized, encouraged, and rewarded in support of the QIS ethos. This will be modeled and exemplified by all stakeholders to ensure others do the same. An international community of learners where achievement, attainment, progress, and development are valued and celebrated in a ‘can do’ culture. All forms of prejudice are challenged whilst risk-taking and mistakes are viewed as a necessary part of the improvement process. Aspiration and ambition are the norms and high expectations are met with pride and enthusiasm. A center of excellence and specialism for the English curriculum in an international context. A school where standards, rigor, and accountability are used positively and constructively to improve the learning community for everyone, ensuring that QIS will stand in comparison with the very best schools in the UK and around the world. 12. This sense of wonder and curiosity to discover and learn about our universe, not just that of atoms, stars, and galaxies but also that of the living, of the mind, and the complex social, economic, and political structures we have created unwittingly, this sense led Newton to realize, and he, in turn, taught us to see that all systems and structures are governed not by whimsical supernatural forces that are beyond our minds and out of our control but by rules and laws that can be discovered and used to create technologies. This sense is what we, the founders, have always dreamt of encouraging in all children. We, therefore, thought of establishing schools that will nurture it. But we needed a curriculum that is exciting and promotes a life-long love for learning. This curriculum should also be dynamic in its response to the never-ending changes in the world and our perception of it. We believe we have found what we were looking for it is the National Curriculum of England and Wales (NCEW) which is popularly known as the British Curriculum! It is one of the best available in the world that is capable of imparting to our students the quality of learning and skills they need to transform our world, not just for the short-sighted good of themselves but for the sustainable good of the whole Earth. We have adopted the British Curriculum, not by default of having a school that should follow a particular curriculum the contrary is the truth. We have established our first school to actualize, to the best of our abilities, the British Curriculum! We believe that such a curriculum, when applied with dedication and creativity, gives a child one of his/her best chances to develop into a well-rounded free human being, who will be best equipped to live and flourish in our modern world. We believe that education is one of man's greatest transformative powers that needs to be honed and improved all the time. At our schools, we strive to improve continuously. This has earned the trust of many parents living in Qatar and made us grow in twelve years from a humble beginning of a small school in two villas with about 200 students in 2006 to nine campuses with a family of around 10,000 students in 2018. Our last words are to parents. No one is more eager and passionate about your child's education than you. We, therefore, invite you to help your child's school to continuously improve by being engaged and active with your feedback through the many channels that are made available, be it the Parents & Teachers Association (PTA), the Parents Affairs Officer (PAO) or the teachers themselves who are always available to parents to eagerly discuss their concerns. Newton International School West Bay is now the school of choice for hundreds of families. Why is that? It is because NIS West Bay has pride in presenting an encompassing learning environment that is coupled with a warm, friendly family atmosphere. The staff at the school are committed to creating the best possible learning opportunities for all of our students. That’s what makes NIS West Bay special! Our program is challenging but balanced within a safe, nurturing environment. We aim to extend the knowledge of our students, develop their skills, to make them passionate about learning for now and into the future. Our staff is also committed to ensuring each student becomes confident in an immersion English language environment. That is why we are special! But learning is only achieved because the teaching team at West Bay has high expectations of the students’ behavior. This comes from the core values of responsibility, the pursuit of excellence, social justice, respect, and cooperation. We want our students to enjoy school. We also want them to feel excited about their learning and to know that their aspirations and hopes are dear to the hearts of their teachers. But this can only happen in a disciplined environment. That’s why West Bay has dedicated classroom reward programs for good behavior plus playground positive “Posi” awards for encouraging our students to care for the school. We aim to provide the highest quality of education possible for students of all abilities. In doing so, we aim to positively encourage each student to achieve academic excellence, enjoy creative diversity, develop critical thinking skills and become lifelong learners and responsible citizens. To achieve this, we will provide a diverse education in a safe, supportive environment that promotes self-discipline and motivation. We will provide and maintain a calm, trusting, and caring atmosphere where teaching and learning are meaningful and developed. 13. 14. The International School of London (ISL) Qatar has an outstanding reputation for high academic standards, prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, and an impressive record of admissions to the best universities worldwide. In September 2008, ISL Qatar opened its new home, a modern, purpose-built campus in the northern suburbs of Doha. The buildings have been developed to embody the school's philosophy of child-focused education. It offers a curriculum appropriate to the 21st century, using methods and technologies that engage children while advancing their learning and understanding. We also offer facilities for sport and recreation, individualized learning and research, and personal development and growth. This year we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary, and since opening the doors to our first students in August of 2008, the International School of London Qatar has developed a reputation both locally and internationally as a pioneering educational institution, that is continually exploring the process of learning and considering what constitutes effective learning. As well as striving to develop the academic potential of every one of our students, our teachers are committed to the school mission statement which sets out our goal of “developing a passion for life and learning that leads to the betterment of the world in which we live.” Our teachers believe in the importance of exploring and developing the personal, social and cognitive skills that our children will need to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world. We seek to ensure that all pupils are equipped with the essential qualities of kindness, compassion, and respect for others and that when each child leaves us they are skilled and confident in their ability to perform in a wide variety of contexts. With over 70 different nationalities in the school, diversity is a cornerstone of our school. The International School of London, Qatar is striving to offer a truly “international education”, but recognizes that this is not simply a question of having different nationalities in the school. Every one of our students and their different backgrounds, experiences, and cultures are recognized for who they are and for the unique qualities that each one of them brings to the school. The extensive support provided by the school to the ongoing development of mother tongue languages is an essential component of the program offered, and, as shown by the latest educational research, is fundamental to unlocking the academic potential of our students. Each child is encouraged not to forget who they are or where they came from to “fit in”. The importance of the individual is enshrined within our curriculum, which is founded upon a belief in the value of a holistic approach to education. At ISL Qatar we value each student as an individual, creating a welcoming atmosphere that celebrates and nurtures all cultures in a lively international community. Each child is welcomed into the school in their language and follows a personalized learning plan based on their skills, goals, and background. Our teachers pride themselves on knowing the students as individuals, although the size of the school means we’re all part of a vibrant and active international community. Our mother tongue program ensures the students continue to thrive in their language, while a range of additional languages is also offered within our positive and wide-ranging learning environment. At ISL Qatar, we believe in our students' ability to build a bright future, and that our purpose for being here should guide everything that we do. We are committed to developing a passion for life and learning that leads to the betterment of the world in which we live. We aim to foster creativity, empathy, integrity, and resilience, founded on respect for self, for others, and the environment. We strive to maintain a diverse community of learners that promotes, nurtures and celebrates individual growth, talent, and mastery within a culture of collaboration. The core values at the International School of London are Diversity, Understanding, Identity, and Passion. The ISL education philosophy is based on the following core values and applies to our students, teaching, and administrative staff: A commitment to the acquisition of knowledge and the achievement of personal potential. The pursuit of excellence in all areas of activity and effort. Respect of self and others including the recognition of the uniqueness of each individual. Social and civic responsibility seeks to explore and promote the common good and values, social justice, cultural diversity, and the emotional and physical wellbeing of others. Concern and respect for the natural and cultural environment. Treating all members of the community with respect, honesty, and integrity. At ISL Qatar, we recognize that every time our teachers think differently about a learning experience, we are creating opportunities for our students to do something amazing. We aim to immerse students in authentic learning that not only connects to their lives outside of school, but that allows them to explore, create, make mistakes, reflect and refine to build essential skills such as communication and collaboration to think critically about problems that they define and to engage in research that asks more questions than it answers.
