      About Me

      1. Since 1925, we’ve helped our students discover what it takes to be undaunted. Unrelenting. Unstoppable. Athenians at the Mount demonstrate this every day. Because for women who are unstoppable, everything is possible. Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Mount Saint Mary's University is an independent, Catholic, liberal arts university which provides a values-based undergraduate education for women, as well as innovative programs for graduate and professional men and women on two historic campuses in Los Angeles. It is nationally recognized for its academic programs, its culturally diverse student body, and its focus on preparing the next generation of citizen leaders. Mount Saint Mary's University’s commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusive Excellence stems from our CSJ heritage, Catholic identity, mission and values. We are compelled to always move toward profound love of God and love of neighbor without distinction. We are committed to diversity in all its possible forms with emphasis on the importance of human rights, equity, fairness, inclusiveness and diversity in the broadest sense including differences in gender, race, ethnicity, generational history, culture, socioeconomic class, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, citizenship status, political perspectives, geographic origin and physical ability. Mount Saint Mary’s University strives to be a place where all people feel welcome. Engaging with others from a variety of different backgrounds improves and enriches our learning, living and working environments. Mount Saint Mary’s University offers a dynamic learning experience in the liberal arts and sciences to a diverse student body. As a Catholic university primarily for women, we are dedicated to providing a superior education enhanced by an emphasis on building leadership skills and fostering a spirit to serve others. Our measure of success is graduates who are committed to using their knowledge and skills to better themselves, their environments, and the world. Our students graduate not only with a regular transcript, but also with a Leadership Transcript that documents their involvement, service and leadership experiences on and off campus. This has been a unique advantage for our students when they apply for graduate scholarships and graduate schools or for their first professional positions. At the Mount we go further in that we celebrate the most creative, the most promising, and the best students through beautiful ceremonies that are steeped in our CSJ traditions and values. All of our students are encouraged to develop spiritually and are rewarded not just for their achievements but for their commitment to use their gifts and talents to serve others in their schools, families and communities. Finally, there are really special things about the Mount, sometimes hard to define but genuinely palpable. There is a feel to our college. The mission of Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) is to enhance the emotional growth and academic success of students by promoting balanced lifestyles, positive self-esteem and essential life skills with an emphasis on the development of the whole person. The years 1968, 1990, and 2007 mark turning points in the history of Freie Universität. The university was one of Germany's important sites for the student protests of the 1960s, which sparked a trend toward greater openness, equality, and democracy. Then, after German reunification in 1990, Freie Universität Berlin shifted its emphasis, increasing its research activities. The number of graduates, successful doctoral candidates, and publications also grew by a significant measure. The basis for the university's successful new approach was a series of fundamental reforms, including the introduction of modern management structures in the university's administration, reorganization of the departments, and use of funding to support specific aims. In 2007, Freie Universität Berlin was selected in the Excellence Initiative jointly sponsored by the German federal government and the federal states' governments. It was one of nine universities in Germany to receive distinction in all three funding lines, a step that has enabled the university to solidify and further expand its position as an "international network university." In 2012 during the second funding round of the Excellence Initiative, it was selected again and is now one of eleven universities of excellence in Germany. Freie Universität Berlin is a leading research institution. One of the German universities successful in all three funding lines in the federal and state Excellence Initiative, thereby receiving additional funding for its institutional future development strategy. Freie Universität can thus take its place as an international network university in the global competition among universities. Development and assessment of research projects occur within various focus areas, research networks, and platforms for interdisciplinary collaborative research. The Excellence Initiative's performance provided funding for several new graduate schools and transdisciplinary research clusters. In particular, the graduate schools play a vital role in developing internationally competitive research centers of excellence. Freie Universität Berlin is a broad-based university with 15 departments and central institutes offering over 150-degree programs across a wide range of subjects. Freie Universität Berlin was founded on December 4, 1948, by students, scholars, and scientists to support the American allied forces and politicians in Berlin. The move was sparked by the persecution faced by students who took a critical eye on the system at the former Universität Unter den Linden, located in the Soviet sector of the divided city. Students and academics wanted to be free to pursue their learning, teaching, and research activities at Freie Universität without being subject to political influence. Generous donations from the United States enabled Freie Universität to build some of its central facilities, including the Benjamin Franklin University Hospital and the Henry Ford Building. In a nod to the university's founding history, the seal of Freie Universität still features the words truth, justice, and freedom. In 2007, the university dedicated a memorial to the founding students killed by the Soviet secret service. The university also presents its Freedom Award to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to freedom. To remain relevant and to compete academically and intellectually from its isolated position in West Berlin, Freie Universität made connections with academic institutions and leading literary figures in Germany, elsewhere in Europe, and worldwide. What started of necessity soon became a success strategy: Freie Universität currently maintains roughly 105 partnerships at the university-wide level and about 330 university partnerships within the Erasmus academic exchange network. 45 institute partnerships. Freie Universität is located in the southwest of Berlin, in Dahlem's garden district, which had already become a top-ranked location for research and study in the early 20th century. Academic activity in Dahlem was supported by Friedrich Althoff, Ministerial Director at the Prussian Ministry of Culture, who proposed the founding of "a German Oxford" at that time. The first new buildings housed government academic and scientific agencies and new institutes of the former University of Berlin. Also, the Kaiser Wilhelm Society – the precursor of the Max Planck Society – maintained various institutes in Dahlem from the time it was founded in 1911. A dynamic group of scientists, including Albert Einstein, Werner Heisenberg, and Max Planck, performed pioneering research at the new site, earning multiple Nobel Prizes. In 1938, in what is now the Hahn-Meitner Building, nuclear fission occurred. Otto Hahn and Lise Meitner had spent more than two decades working together there toward that aim. Since it was first founded, Freie Universität Berlin has used former buildings of the Kaiser Wilhelm Society and brought several architecturally innovative buildings of its own to the area. Freie Universität is made up of groups of buildings all located within walking distance of one another. The campus planners designed it along the American college campus lines, a novelty in postwar Germany. The permanent exhibition "Future from the Very Beginning" (Zukunft von Anfang an) in the Henry Ford Building of Freie Universität highlights the university's rich and varied history, from its founding in 1948 right up to the present day. Photographs, early films, radio reports, and contemporary printed materials show the university's position at the center of contemporary events right from the start. The Henry Ford Building exhibition is open to the public at no charge during regular building opening hours (Garystraße 35, 14195 Berlin, 7:30 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Friday).

        Ain Shams University

As the third Egyptian University, Ain Shams University was founded in July 1950 under the name of "Ibrahim Pasha University." It participated with the two earlier universities, "Cairo University" (Fua'd the 1st ) and "Alexandria University" (Farouk the 1st), in fulfilling the message of universities and meeting the increasing demand of youth for higher education. When it was first established, Ain Shams University comprised several distinguished faculties and academic institutes, which were later developed into University. After the revolution of the 23 rd of July 1952, it was suggested that Egyptian universities be given names that were strongly linked with the roots and historical landmarks of the country. Thus on 21 st of February 1954, the name of the University was changed to "Heliopolis," and then changed in the same year to its present name "Ain Shams," the Arabic for "Heliopolis," or "On," which was the oldest University in history. "On" University was established about 5000 years ago, and it had a wide fame as a center of knowledge and learning, especially in astronomy, engineering, and medicine. Perhaps a perfect example of "On" teachers' knowledge and skill is Imhotep, the chief priest, minister, and architect. They, in 2700 B.C., designed the first large structure of stone known in history, Zoser's Step Pyramid in Sakkara. Westcar Papyrus also states that the founder of the Fifth Dynasty was the Rector of "On" University before ascending the throne. However, the most important achievement of "On" University was the call for worshipping a single deity, the solar disk of Aton, at the hands of Akhenaton, who was influenced by the ideas of "On" priests. The University is now located in the Zaafaran Palace area, built during the regime of Khedive Ismail. The Palace was so named because the area surrounding it was famous for saffron (in Arabic Zaafaran) plantations. The Palace was used to host the Egyptian University administration offices when it was established in 1925. It was used by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (as a guest house) for accommodating important visitors. The Palace also witnessed the signing of the 1936 Treaty between Egypt and Great Britain. Finally, in 1952, it came to be used as the administrative headquarters of Ain Shams University. Being a major scientific and cultural institution, Ain Shams University is fully aware of these challenges. It is confident that it has - with other Egyptian Universities - a problematic challenging responsibility for creating the generation. In 1973 the faculty of Al-Alsun was made the tenth member in the University. However, the history of this faculty dates back to 1835. In 1994, a decree was issued to establish two more faculties, the faculty of Pharmacy and the faculty of Dentistry; the actual study was started the following year in both faculties. In the same year, it was decided to establish the faculty of Computers and Information Sciences, and the study started the following year. The last faculty to join the University is the faculty of Specific Education, in 1998. Faculty of Nursing was established in 1980, and the Institute of Childhood Postgraduates Studies was established in 1981. The establishment of the Institute of Environmental Research and Studies was in 1982. Ain Shams University comprises seven campuses, all of which are situated in Great Cairo. The university administration, faculties of Arts, Law, and Science are all located on the main campus, El-khalifa El Mamoon Street, Abbasi. The faculties of Commerce, Al-Alsun (languages), Pharmacy, Dentistry, Computer and Information Sciences, Institute of Postgraduate Childhood and Institute of Environmental Studies and Research, and the specialized Hospital are located on the second campus on the other side of the street above. Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Nursing and the university hospitals are located on another campus at Abassia. Faculties of Engineering, Specific Education, Education, Women, and Agriculture are located on a separate campus in Abbasi, Heliopolis, and Shoubra El-Kheema. Our mission is to Integrate a culture of total quality and continuous improvement in the educational process and research. Enrich the theoretical knowledge and applied the following ethical standards, social and cultural life of society. Spreading the culture and ethics of scientific research. The University, which started with 17 students and five instructors, grew steadily over the years attracting students from diverse groups and bringing higher education to students and regions of Lebanon that were neglected and forgotten. Today MUBS enjoys a diverse population of over 1800 students, 200 instructors, and 100 administrators spread across its campuses in Damour, Beirut, Aley, Semkanieh, and Jal-el-Dib Center. Over the years, MUBS positions itself as an institution that strives for excellence and modernity, taking huge strides every year to maintain a high-quality education that introduces the latest pedagogical approaches. MUBS remains committed, now more than ever, to its goals and mission as it continues to push forward to realize its vision through extensive internal development programs in association with the European Union Tempus Programs and partnerships with internationally recognized universities in the US, UK, France, and Canada. Our mission at MUBS is to provide a rich and innovative academic environment that provides students of diverse backgrounds with equal opportunities to learn, explore, and attain the knowledge and skills necessary to realize their career objectives and empower them to contribute positively and effectively to their community, country, and the world. The university'suniversity's guiding vision is to lead the way in educational quality, academic integrity, and scientific research. MUBS is committed to creating conscientious world leaders exemplary in their moral, professional, and educational excellence. These values stem from a sense of responsibility towards our local and broader community and our youth's great potential, whose creativity is fostered and empowered through creative, modern pedagogical approaches that reflect our innovative and dynamic identity. The University uses the Credit System, a systematic way of describing an educational program by attaching credits to its components. Under the Credit System, each course is assigned a credit rating reflecting weekly contact hours. In general, a three-credit course indicates three hours of lectures per week for one term. A course represents a particular topic of study into a broader subject area and is the basic building block of a qualification. After deciding on the degrees and subjects of interest, you will need to decide on the courses to enroll in your academic year. Most courses are taught during one semester: Fall Semester (October to February), Spring Semester (February to June), and Summer Session (June to August), twice per week: Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday. Some courses may require attendance on Friday or Saturday. The School of Computer and Applied Sciences was established in the year 2000. Since then, the faculty has been multiplying, graduating more than 1300 students in different majors now occupying various positions at corporations in Lebanon and abroad. The school has two departments the computer science and Graphic Design. The Graphic design department offers one undergraduate degree in Graphic Design. All our degrees are accredited by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE).

      22. The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) is a private Catholic higher education institution founded by the Lebanese Maronite Order (LMO) in 1938. From that moment, these monks, who had been entrusted with a teaching mission for more than three centuries, have undertaken the management of USEK. Their remit was to provide university teaching in conformity with the labor market requirements and close association with scientific research. Being a national institution, USEK has brought its teachings and curricula into line with the Lebanese state's official requirements, which acknowledges the diplomas it delivers. Furthermore, USEK remains careful in achieving a synthesis of tradition and modernism in the educational options it offers while remaining true to a Christian humanism, which is imprinted on the general education it provides. Due to the pressure to democratize higher education, the University is deploying necessary efforts to fight exclusion and abide by a non-elitist policy, albeit without making any concessions concerning education quality. The establishment of decentralized regional centers (in Zahle, Chekka, and Rmeich) thus springs out of the wish to implement the right to higher education. USEK has adapted well in light of soaring socioeconomic development and has created new vocational specializations to diversify its education and meet the needs of the labor market. Nowadays, USEK welcomes more than 8,000 students across its twelve faculties and three institutes, i.e., fifteen academic units, which offer a broad array of diversified high-level education. Studies in USEK are based on the modular system of units, which are accounted for on a half-year basis, or "credits." Also, the adoption of such a structure enables students to enjoy flexibility on all levels for the prospective degree courses' academic and financial management. It also enables the Promotion of students' mobility in Lebanon and abroad: Credits can be accumulated and transferred from one University to another. Personalization of the students' training: Each student's academic course is adapted to his(her) personal and vocational project. Flexible Organisation of the semester: Students are allowed the freedom to choose the number of credits (while abiding by the minimum and maximum numbers set by the University) and the courses taken during the semester (out of a group of courses that are required for a given curriculum), thus enabling them to ameliorate how they set their schedule. Development of close pedagogical support: The teachers' follow-up and support are reinforced by the fact that thanks to this system, education is centered on the students. The offer of diversified courses to students promotes a multidisciplinary approach and exchanges within and among disciplines. Facilitation reorientation: Thanks to the establishment of links among the various education courses proposed, students can easily change their curriculum without losing all their achievements. USEK cultivates a strong feeling of belonging among its students, thanks to its welcoming student life and the multiple services. Hence, outside the framework of courses, student life in USEK takes several shapes and offers new occasions to develop new competencies and knowledge and build an extensive network of contacts: a student magazine, social associations, and clubs, pastoral work, cultural trips, student parties, etc. Since the University is keen on emphasizing the culture of the body and that of the mind, it also offers students a broad choice of sports activities. The program includes basketball, volleyball, football, tennis, table tennis, oriental dance, yoga, ski, etc. Also, USEK has several sports teams, which take part regularly in competitions among universities and national and international championships. USEK has always been interested in research activities, as proven by the international magazines published by the University (Melto, Parole de l'Orient), the annals and proceedings of high-level conferences and seminars held at USEK, in addition to the numerous publications, which are the result of individual or collaborative research works and which – by and large – pertain to a broad theme of diversification, namely that of the Lebanese and Near-Eastern heritage (musical, theological, liturgical, literary, legal, historical, architectural, technical, scientific, etc.). In this context, exchanges within and among disciplines are promoted, thus establishing links among USEK's faculties and institutes to achieve better collaboration. Moreover, the University has access to much resource equipment earmarked for research activities and put at the disposal of teachers/researchers and students. As higher education became widespread and the socioeconomic crisis in the country grew harsher, USEK has set the following objectives for itself: Make higher education accessible to all equally, without discrimination and, most importantly, without excluding economically deprived students Preserve the quality of its students' education and training to better live in society and their vocational sphere. Since its founding, USEK seeks, and by Article 92 of the Constitutions of the OLM (ed. 2012) and the Catholic Church's social teaching on universities, to contribute to all its students' development through quality educational programs and research in various fields of study. By providing a high-quality American-style education to its students, USEK intends to prepare future leaders for innovation, professional growth, and life-long learning, in Lebanon, within the Middle East, and throughout the world. USEK is committed to a faith-based educational development of its students rooted in the Catholic tradition, whereby spiritual values and ethics and respect for cultural and religious pluralism are promoted.

The Lebanese University was established in 1951 to serve the diverse social groups that make up Lebanese society and provide a high-level institution where students can acquire university degrees. It was launched amid a growth in the number of students in grades 10 to 12. The first departments were The High House of Teachers and The Statistics Center. On 3 December 1951, the first class of 68 students entered the University, under the efforts of many professors and educated personalities and the support of the Lebanese President Bechara El Khoury. On 26 February 1953, official decree No. 25 founded a financial and administrative center at the University, called The Institution of Finance and Administration. The High House of Teachers was renamed The High Teachers Institution. The next significant change was 1959's regulating decree No. 2883, which, along with many others between 1960 and 1972, added more material into the University's structure and legalized all of its activities, requiring students to participate, administrators, the different faculties. The Faculty of Public Health aims to educate specialists in health, social and environmental fields, and cooperate and coordinate with public and private institutions, alongside civil organizations in the health, social, and preventive domains.
