  4. RAKMHSU is the First Comprehensive Health Science University in UAE under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and Supreme Council Member, United Arab Emirates, who is also the Chancellor of the University. With the continued unstinted support from His Highness, RAKMHSU is marching forward as per its Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives. Now, RAKMHSU is wholly owned and managed by the Government of Ras Al Khaimah. Further, all the programs have been fully accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation under the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research. RAKMHSU is known for its sincere and transparent administration, focusing on professionalism. From the humble beginning with 22 students, RAKMHSU has grown remarkably well, having 1300 plus students from 48 different Nationalities. Same way, RAKMHSU is proud of having 109 Teaching Faculty, 113 Adjunct Faculty, and 96 Non-teaching Staff hailing from 26 different countries. RAKMHSU has become a role model of synergy and cooperation among the students and faculty of different nationalities and religions, pursuing a commitment to their respective professional careers. The continued significant contribution from our committed faculty has helped RAKMHSU immensely in improving the academic standards. RAKMHSU is proud to maintain a Student-Teacher Ratio at 7:1, which is more than an ideal situation. One of the happiest moments for RAKMHSU was the First Convocation in 2010, which saw 19 Medical and 48 Nursing students getting their degrees from the hands of His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi. It is also a matter of pride for RAKMHSU for being able to be the first in UAE to start two year Masters Programs in Nursing and Pharmacy. Now, in addition to the MS in Adult Health Nursing (MSN), MS in Clinical Pharmacy, we also have MS in Pediatric Nursing, MS in Community Health Nursing, MS in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, MS in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, MS in Pharmaceutics and Pharm.D, programs after due accreditation. It is also heartening to see our Nursing and Pharmacy Graduates getting placements in different hospitals and industries immediately after graduation. It is also satisfying to note that our students have done well in some of the external qualifying examinations and have done well in both Dubai Health Care and Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD) Examinations. RAKMHSU continues to improve the teaching-learning, including clinical teaching. It is noteworthy to mention that more than 40% of our students are recipients of merit scholarships from either Sheikh Saqr foundation for Excellence or through other Government and NGO organizations. Further, most of our students who participate in various conferences both within RAKMHSU and outside receive several awards, including Sports awards. Looking at the progress made in the last nine years, RAKMHSU continued to focus on student satisfaction. It is very gratifying to see that the ratings based on the IRO feedback have seen a consistent improvement from as low as 2.50 out of 5 – to – 4.51 out of 5 in the different services like Academic Advising, Admissions, Examinations, Student Services, Finance & HR, IT facilities, Library, and other services. With the University Management System's implementation, the University's functioning has been made simple, fast, and more effective. Nothing can be more satisfying to the University when we know that our students, who are the end-users, understand the facilities available and utilize them properly. In this connection, I appreciate the efforts of the Institutional Research Office (IRO), who is working very hard to collect and analyze the data very systematically, and all other offices of the University and the four Constituent Colleges. Thanks to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between RAKMHSU and the Ministry of Health (MOH), our students get hands-on clinical experience in both Sheikh Saqr and Obaidulla Hospitals in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah hospital. Commissioning of the Geriatric hospital with 140 beds has added to the comprehensiveness of the clinical teaching. Further, the Clinical teaching for medical students has been strengthened by the addition of 10 Core Clinical Faculty. The Ministry of Health also Sponsors UAE Nationals for the Nursing Program, both for Undergraduate and Masters. Also, several processes of examinations have been streamlined. The Vetting Committees for both MCQs and PBLs are making earnest attempts to improve the Quality of both and their uniform implementation across all colleges. The Office is conducting examinations for more than 130 courses each semester across four constituent colleges in a very systematic way. Our students' meticulous hard work resulted in an overall pass percentage of over 95%, with more than 26% obtaining excellent or outstanding grades. Starting from the year 2010, the University has instituted a system of academic honors for students with excellent academic achievements. In addition to the celebration of UAE National Day, RAKMHSU Cultural Day and the Student Scientific Conference were some of the highlights of student activities every year. It is very gratifying to note students' high participation in both Oral and Poster Presentations at the Conference. In addition to the academic achievements, our students excel in several co-curricular and extracurricular activities, including the sports activities within and outside RAKMHSU, bringing laurels to the University. The Office of Student Affairs is to be commended to initiate all the activities and manage a high level of student involvement. RAKMHSU was quite fortunate to be the host for several dignitaries who visited RAKMHSU on several occasions. To mention a few, Dr. Lauren Arnold, Advisor to Health Minister, UAE Dr. Fathima al Rifai, Secretary, NMC, UAE Mr. Richard Mottershead, Senior Lecturer, Glyndon University Dr. Mohammed Shein, President, Zanzibar (Tanzania) Dr. Mariam Matar, Chairman, UAE Genetic Diseases Association Dr. Satish Chandra, Research Director & Head, Clinical Research, Tawam Hospital, Al-Ain Dr. Udupa, Principal, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal, India Dr. Jey Pillai, Clinical Pharmacist, St. Rose Hospital, Siena Campus, US Dr. Fadil Citaku, CEO, Academy of Leadership Sciences, Switzerland Prof. Francisco J. Gutierrez, Laureate Education Inc Delegation from the New York State Education Department, US Flemish Delegation Salford University and Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital. RAKMHSU conducts several CME programs with the help of faculty. Many delegates attend the CMEs, and it was a nice feeling for us to receive accolades from everybody for the facilities and the way CMEs were organized. RAKMHSU wholeheartedly thanks the Ministry of Health, Adjunct Clinical faculty, and other NGOs like AKMG to close cooperation in organizing these CMEs. The CME Programs on "Cardiology Update," which hosted more than 600 delegates, "World Hypertension Day" 2nd RAKCON Scientific Nursing Conference "Making a Difference: Strengthening Nursing Education, Practice and Research for Quality Patient Care," were the other CMEs organized by RAKMHSU. Experience has demonstrated that the more diverse the foundations and points of view of students and the workforce, the wealthier the educational experience becomes. The goal behind building up Al Ain University came in light of direction from His Highness, the late Sheik Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, the UAE's first president. This was about cultivating the UAE's general population on establishments of information and science, adding to the advancement of the UAE, and react to the difficulties hastened by the twenty-first-century development of innovation and mass communications. Extraordinary thought was likewise taken concerning the Federal Law No (4) of 1992, setting up the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and connecting to the guidelines and controls of permitting higher academic establishments and the MOHESR's "Norms for Licensure and Accreditation" 2003. Upon the fulfillment of all studies executed with the end goal of setting up this academic landmark with its very own dream, a productive viewpoint and an innovative mission had been made. Al-Ain University was set up in 2004 with full dedication regarding the guidelines and policies issued by the MOHESR. View full university

  11. Tokyo University of Pharmacy and Life Sciences was founded in 1880 as the Tokyo Pharmaceutists School, Japan's first private educational institution to train pharmacists. In over 130 years, the school has produced countless graduates who have helped advance pharmaceutical science, the pharmaceutical industry, and education in Japan. The School of Life Sciences was established in 1994, the first school of its kind in Japan, greatly expanding education and research in this field. A system was established to pursue molecular and cellular level research in biotechnology and the life sciences that fully embody the university's original pioneering spirit and philosophy of humanistic education. We aim to educate individuals to become rich in spirit, able to see the world with a broad-minded perspective and contribute to the welfare of humanity and world peace through the fields of pharmacy and the life sciences. The university's Latin motto is Flore Pharmacia! Flore Scientia Vitae! ("May Pharmacy and the Life Sciences Flourish!") Our primary educational philosophy is to enable students to develop the ability to think for themselves by carrying out a wide field of experiments and research. At the same time, we put great effort into training, emphasizing well-grounded ethics to complement highly specialized knowledge and skills. The School of Pharmacy's educational philosophy is to provide knowledge and teach the skills needed to be a pharmacist working in the medical profession. We aim to foster broad-minded, compassionate individuals who can contribute to the welfare of humanity. Naturally, a pharmacist needs the correct pharmaceutical knowledge and appropriate skills. But to fulfill his or her responsibility as a medical professional, the pharmacist must protect the patient's health and life-based on this foundation by providing the patient with respectful medical care. The School of Pharmacy offers practical training through a six-year curriculum that integrates Basic Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacy courses. Also, the graduate school Master's Program and equivalent level graduation thesis research help students to develop problem-solving skills and expertise as medical professionals. Established as Japan's first educational institution dedicated to training and research in the life sciences, the school has consistently been a pioneer in these areas. We take an interdisciplinary approach to unlocking the knowledge held in the fundamental mysteries of life. Studies in major scientific fields are pursued insofar as they relate to living organisms. The School of Life Sciences' educational philosophy fosters talent in individuals who develop a broad base of specialized knowledge and learn how to apply that knowledge with exceptional problem-solving skills. Students learn to utilize a wide range of knowledge related to living organisms to find solutions to various issues. Studies draw upon diverse subjects in biology, chemistry, and physics and extend to applications in molecular biology, medical science, and the environment. The university's campus is approximately 27 hectares (67 acres) in size. Surrounded by abundant greenery, the campus includes educational and research facilities, community facilities for students, sports facilities, and more—everything a student could need. There are over 70 classrooms and lecture halls of varying sizes, for small classes to full school assemblies. Each is equipped with a projector and other equipment to enable their use for seminars, public talks, and symposia, in addition to regular classes. There are also lecture halls specifically for computer literacy education and laboratories for chemistry, biology, analysis, and pharmaceutical studies. The university began offering a major in Clinical Pharmacy Studies in 1976 and set up the Master's Program in Clinical Pharmacy Studies in 1981, leading Japan as the first university in the country to offer clinical pharmacy studies at the graduate level. The School of Pharmacy has provided high-level education for over 30 years, focusing on training clinical pharmacists. This program provides the opportunity for experiential learning before engaging in real-world clinical practice. The pre-clinical pharmacy practice facilities completed in September 2008 have the floor dedicated to practical training. Students spend approximately one-month training, engaging directly with patients, filling prescriptions, and learning aseptic dispensing methods. The facilities contain a model pharmacy, aseptic dispensary, mock hospital ward, and so on. These pre-clinical pharmacy practice facilities are exceptional in both quality and range. 12. University is a place where dreams and hopes are nurtured. Since the Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences is a life science university comprising the Faculty of Pharmacy for primarily training pharmacists essential for healthcare. The Faculty of Applied Life Sciences for training human resources for bioscience, environment, and food in an environment that makes it easier for students to set their goals in terms of which pathways they would take in the future and whom they could contribute to society. What is important is to engage in trying to make intangible dreams actively and hopes into something concrete. Based on the dignity of life and through education/research of pharmacy and life science, we will nurture promising human resources who have a high degree of professionalism and rich humanity that contribute to health enhancement, environmental conservation, international exchange, and community evolution, and produce research results that are beneficial for social progress and cultural enhancement. How can one do that? It is essential to understand the individual subjects that one studies in lectures, but it is also essential to understand how each of those subjects relates to one another. Take, for instance, a jigsaw puzzle. One can see how each piece connects to another from the characteristics of individual pieces. One can complete the puzzle by judging where the connected part is supposed to be placed in the overall image. In this way, it is crucial to grasp the big picture by integrating individualized knowledge for future growth. We would like you to be keenly aware of the necessity to make your dreams and hopes more concrete and realize them. At the Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences, we have many brilliant teaching staff active in their fields and fellow students who are studying with the same aim. We aim to cultivate "pharmacists working at the center of community healthcare" who are equipped with knowledge and humanity appropriate for healthcare professionals through the study of ethics and problem-solving abilities required in medical practice, as well as advanced knowledge of the relationship between the properties of chemical substances and life, illness and drug therapy. Based on "life sciences" learned from the world filled with nature and human life, we aim to nurture: Human resources that would support activities that protect and develop our rich natural environment. Human resources with knowledge of new sciences and technologies such as bioscience would play active roles in food and the environment. View full university
  13. Daiichi University of Pharmacy (the University) is located in Fukuoka City on Kyushu's southern island. Established on a rich history of culture and traditions, the city boasts local festivals, professional sports, and competitive education. Considered the Gateway to Asia, Fukuoka can be accessed by sea, air, and land, providing international exchanges and development opportunities. The University is one of 31 schools that form educational organization Tsuzuki Gakuen. Tsuzuki Gakuen has three pharmacy schools in Fukuoka, Yokohama, and Saitama. The University presently has 1060 students in attendance from around Kyushu and neighboring prefectures, with 150 graduates studying for the licensing exam. The students are trained to work as pharmacists in hospitals, community pharmacies, drug companies, and schools and have the option of continuing their studies in graduate school. The two six-year pharmacy programs of the Department of Pharmacy and the Department of Kampo Pharmacy (traditional Japanese medicine) provide students with the clinical skills and science-based knowledge to provide competent pharmaceutical care in hospitals and community pharmacies. The six years of study follow a rigorous curriculum of pharmaceutical science courses, liberal art language and humanities options, a year of pre-clerkship practical study, two 11-week clerkships in a hospital and community pharmacy, and concludes with research study and national licensing exam preparation. Collaboration between local hospitals and pharmacies allows students to practice their learning with patients and observe professionals in realistic pharmacy settings. The advanced curriculum that follows the clerkship program encourages students to focus on specialized research areas and practice before graduation to give a competitive edge in the job market. The students develop balanced lifestyles and interact with their peers through extra-curricular clubs, such as team sports, arts, and cultural disciplines. Once a year, there is a school festival where students work together as a school body to create an enjoyable day for the people in the local community and stage their talents. Many students volunteer in community pharmacy programs to promote drug abuse awareness and assist in the local cleanup from recent earthquake and flood disasters. The University aims to increase international partnerships to provide the students with exposure to global pharmacy practice. These partnerships give the students opportunities to travel and observe pharmacy practices in other countries. Presently, there are active partnerships with pharmacy schools in the United States, Italy, Taiwan, and China. The University also wishes to increase scientific and clinical research partnerships through faculty exchange programs. Everybody is born with a special gift that defines the character and distinguishes individuality from other people. This quality may be identified in primary and secondary education, but it needs to be developed and recognized fully through specialization in higher education. Daiichi University of Pharmacy (DUP) helps each student acquire expert knowledge in pharmacy and a professional spirit for the vocation in prescribing and preparing medicines as a pharmacist. It is hoped that this spiritual legacy at DUP will lay the foundation for many students to gain self-realization as professionals through life-long learning and education. DUP's rules provide that "this college, following the provisions of the Constitution of Japan, the Fundamental Law of Education and the School Education Law, shall impart a great deal of expertise to the students who are determined to learn pharmacy, and turn them into pharmacists with practical competence it shall contribute to improving and developing medical welfare and science." DUP has a history of over fifty years and has produced 13,000 students as pharmacists in hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies, supporting community health care. Long before the new six-year pharmaceutical education system was introduced, this college had been committed to educating the students to be pharmacists who not only have vital expertise and clinical competence but feel compassion for patients. It is also making every effort to offer many different courses compatible with an aging society, including life and health care guidance in local communities. With its eminent faculty and administrative staff, highly original curriculum, and educational facilities on a higher level, OCPS supports the students. View full university

  16. The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) is a private Catholic higher education institution founded by the Lebanese Maronite Order (LMO) in 1938. From that moment, these monks, who had been entrusted with a teaching mission for more than three centuries, have undertaken the management of USEK. Their remit was to provide university teaching in conformity with the labor market requirements and close association with scientific research. Being a national institution, USEK has brought its teachings and curricula into line with the Lebanese state's official requirements, which acknowledges the diplomas it delivers. Furthermore, USEK remains careful in achieving a synthesis of tradition and modernism in the educational options it offers while remaining true to a Christian humanism, which is imprinted on the general education it provides. Due to the pressure to democratize higher education, the University is deploying necessary efforts to fight exclusion and abide by a non-elitist policy, albeit without making any concessions concerning education quality. The establishment of decentralized regional centers (in Zahle, Chekka, and Rmeich) thus springs out of the wish to implement the right to higher education. USEK has adapted well in light of soaring socioeconomic development and has created new vocational specializations to diversify its education and meet the needs of the labor market. Nowadays, USEK welcomes more than 8,000 students across its twelve faculties and three institutes, i.e., fifteen academic units, which offer a broad array of diversified high-level education. Studies in USEK are based on the modular system of units, which are accounted for on a half-year basis, or "credits." Also, the adoption of such a structure enables students to enjoy flexibility on all levels for the prospective degree courses' academic and financial management. It also enables the Promotion of students' mobility in Lebanon and abroad: Credits can be accumulated and transferred from one University to another. Personalization of the students' training: Each student's academic course is adapted to his(her) personal and vocational project. Flexible Organisation of the semester: Students are allowed the freedom to choose the number of credits (while abiding by the minimum and maximum numbers set by the University) and the courses taken during the semester (out of a group of courses that are required for a given curriculum), thus enabling them to ameliorate how they set their schedule. Development of close pedagogical support: The teachers' follow-up and support are reinforced by the fact that thanks to this system, education is centered on the students. The offer of diversified courses to students promotes a multidisciplinary approach and exchanges within and among disciplines. Facilitation reorientation: Thanks to the establishment of links among the various education courses proposed, students can easily change their curriculum without losing all their achievements. USEK cultivates a strong feeling of belonging among its students, thanks to its welcoming student life and the multiple services. Hence, outside the framework of courses, student life in USEK takes several shapes and offers new occasions to develop new competencies and knowledge and build an extensive network of contacts: a student magazine, social associations, and clubs, pastoral work, cultural trips, student parties, etc. Since the University is keen on emphasizing the culture of the body and that of the mind, it also offers students a broad choice of sports activities. The program includes basketball, volleyball, football, tennis, table tennis, oriental dance, yoga, ski, etc. Also, USEK has several sports teams, which take part regularly in competitions among universities and national and international championships. USEK has always been interested in research activities, as proven by the international magazines published by the University (Melto, Parole de l'Orient), the annals and proceedings of high-level conferences and seminars held at USEK, in addition to the numerous publications, which are the result of individual or collaborative research works and which – by and large – pertain to a broad theme of diversification, namely that of the Lebanese and Near-Eastern heritage (musical, theological, liturgical, literary, legal, historical, architectural, technical, scientific, etc.). In this context, exchanges within and among disciplines are promoted, thus establishing links among USEK's faculties and institutes to achieve better collaboration. Moreover, the University has access to much resource equipment earmarked for research activities and put at the disposal of teachers/researchers and students. As higher education became widespread and the socioeconomic crisis in the country grew harsher, USEK has set the following objectives for itself: Make higher education accessible to all equally, without discrimination and, most importantly, without excluding economically deprived students Preserve the quality of its students' education and training to better live in society and their vocational sphere. Since its founding, USEK seeks, and by Article 92 of the Constitutions of the OLM (ed. 2012) and the Catholic Church's social teaching on universities, to contribute to all its students' development through quality educational programs and research in various fields of study. By providing a high-quality American-style education to its students, USEK intends to prepare future leaders for innovation, professional growth, and life-long learning, in Lebanon, within the Middle East, and throughout the world. USEK is committed to a faith-based educational development of its students rooted in the Catholic tradition, whereby spiritual values and ethics and respect for cultural and religious pluralism are promoted. 21. The University of Innsbruck has a long history dating back as far as 1669, the year it was founded. The University of Innsbruck is the leading University for the Tyrol, South Tyrol, Vorarlberg and the Principality of Liechtenstein. It aims at promoting and facilitating a lively exchange between science and the public. Sustainable academic and social values are the foundation for achieving its goal of having an impact on society. Within the framework of several activities, the University substantiates the assignment it takes on for the society of the region by bringing research, teaching, and administrative functions closer to the general public. Founded in 1669, the Leopold-Franzens University Innsbruck is the largest University in the western part of Austria. Located at a traditional north-south crossroads connecting Europe, we are oriented internationally while positioned locally. Learning from the long and sometimes problematic history of the University, we build bridges into the future. Our strength is managing seemingly conflicting topics in a productive manner: asking globally oriented but regionally motivated research questions self-confidently breaking with well-established knowledge while consciously respecting traditions and capitalizing on academic freedom while treating it responsibly. In this environment of balanced diversity, everyone at the University acts as a member of society as well as a link to society. This philosophy is reflected in our current main research areas: Alpine Space – Man and Environment, Cultural Encounters – Cultural Conflicts, Molecular Biosciences, Physics, and Scientific Computing. Our research is available to the public to initiate, foster, and advance informed discussions and sometimes vigorous debates inside and outside of the academic world. The University of Innsbruck, as a vital social force, stands for high-quality, independent research and education. All members of the University, students, and staff alike, actively take responsibility to sustainably contribute to developments at the University and in society. As a University, we create an environment where free, creative, and daring thinking can prosper and offer diverse opportunities through comprehensive education. Our leading principles to promote these values are participation, cooperation, trust, and transparency as the democratic tradition demands. Based upon the academic ideal of a comprehensive university offering all disciplines, the depth of academic fields at the University of Innsbruck drives research and teaching while serving society. Research-driven teaching leads our students to outstanding achievements in their daily life and professional careers. It is also the foundation of higher education and develops future academics. Despite its regional roots, the University of Innsbruck is ready to compete internationally with other higher education institutions for the brightest minds and ideas while collaborating with other universities. As society continues to evolve rapidly, knowledge generated at the University significantly benefits everyone. It gives guidance but also promotes a culture of scrutiny. It explains connections and leads to new questions. Our educational aim is to strengthen critical faculty and judgment and improve the quality of life of individuals and society. In cooperation with cultural, political, economic, and civil society institutions, we participate responsibly in public discourse, thereby creating new perspectives for society's positive development. Also, we contribute to the self-fulfillment of everyone at the University and facilitate co-determination at all levels. We stay in contact with our alumni and strive to inspire them to the concept of lifelong learning. Academic freedom is the foundation for our actions. It also commits us to evaluate our work, research findings, and new technologies critically and ethically. In this context, it is natural that we use our resources sustainably. We cultivate open and honest communication treating everyone on an equal footing. We need to value personal achievements and support each other. By guaranteeing transparent structures and policies, the University creates a motivating and engaging environment. The University embraces diversity: people, ideas, life aspirations, opinions, and methods, which we promote by striving for (gender) equality, inclusion, and facilitating a balance between work, education, and life commitments. This diversity is a pre-requisite for insightful and inspiring higher education, academic excellence, and social recognition. In this regard, the Leopold-Franzens University Innsbruck acts as a role model and is an active advocate for an open society. The history of the University of Innsbruck starts about 100 years before its official foundation in 1669, when in 1562, a Jesuit school/college was established. Emperor Leopold, I used this school as a foundation to establish a university on 15 October 1669. He guaranteed financing by introducing a new extraordinary tax on salt extracted in Hall, the so-called "Haller Salt Surcharge." Eight years later, in 1677, the founding certificate was issued, which mentioned four faculties. In the following years, the University had to endure challenging times – it was dissolved and reopened twice. In 1826, Francis I Emperor of Austria finally founded the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Law and, after that, other faculties were established step-by-step. In 1969 teaching started at the Faculty of Civil Engineering Sciences and Architecture, and in 1976 the Faculty of Sociology and Economics was established, which used to be integrated into the Faculty of Law and Political Science. Under the University Act 2002, the University was reorganized into 15 faculties, and the Faculty of Medicine became a University in its own right – the Medical University of Innsbruck. In 2012 the Faculty of Teacher Education had been established and became the 16th faculty of the University of Innsbruck. International Higher Education Rankings regularly prove that the University of Innsbruck – despite the problematic financial preconditions of all Austrian universities – plays an outstanding role as an education and research institution in the European higher education system. The strategic direction into which the University is to go is laid down in the development plan, where the main strategies for future milestones are mapped out for several years. Thus, it is the basis for performance agreements concluded between the University and the Ministry of Science and Research on the one hand and the guideline for target agreements between the Faculties and the Rectorate on the other hand.
