About Me

  1. The English School Fahaheel has served the ex-pat community here for almost half a century now. We aim to provide the very best in British education for all our pupils in a supportive and caring environment. Well qualified and motivated staff encourage the children to develop their academic, social and personal skills closely following the National Curriculum for England and Wales. Working in close harmony with parents and the community, we enable students to reach their full potential and develop skills to become independent, self-sufficient adults who will succeed and contribute to a global society. At the English School, Fahaheel, Kuwait, we provide each student with a broad and balanced education in a safe and supportive environment that promotes an enjoyment of learning, strong motivation and excellence respect for others, and the advancement of international-mindedness At The English School Fahaheel, we fully expect excellent conduct and behavior from all our students. This expectation comes from everyone associated with the school. In this way, your son or daughter will work, learn and develop at ESF with confidence. The courtesy shown by staff and students is well-known throughout Kuwait, and this is the high standard that we fully expect throughout each Department. Both our staff and the Ministry of Education are quite clear regarding the effort and behavior expected from each student. In school, children are encouraged to strive for and achieve, their best in work, attitude, and personal behavior. Members of staff are experienced in encouraging positive aspects of a student's efforts, ranging from written approval in workbooks to reward by certificates and other means. The English School Fahaheel was founded in 1968 by a group of expatriate parents under the guidance of the incumbent British Consult. In that same year, the school was recognized by the Private Education Department of the Ministry of Education in Kuwait and opened its doors to a handful of expatriate students. At that time there was no other school in South Kuwait providing an English education other than a company school established in Ahmadi by Kuwait Oil Company for the children of its employees. This company school was closed in 1970. Due to the steady increase in the expatriate English-speaking population in Kuwait, it became evident by late 1976 that further expansion would be necessary for the not-too-distant future. In 1978 an upper story to the main building was constructed, substantially increasing the number of student places available. Progress and expansion continued unabated until the invasion of Kuwait in 1990. The occupying Iraqi army used the school premises as a command center and destroyed or looted furniture, educational materials, and anything of value. Following the liberation of Kuwait in 1991, the owner of the school, Mr. Ibrahim Shuhaiber M.Sc., was determined to see it thrive once again. A major clean-up operation began as the British Army forces in Kuwait assisted in clearing mines and ammunition from the surrounding area and beach. The English School Fahaheel soon regained its position as one of Kuwait's leading English schools, achieving excellence in education. The Early Years Department occupies spacious and stimulating teaching areas which are linked to large and well-resourced indoor and outdoor play areas. These areas are equipped with large and safe play equipment. Throughout Middle School, the ethos is to create a stimulating educational environment, lively and colorful, in which children feel secure and happy, are motivated to do their best work, and enthusiastic about the range of subjects taught in a challenging manner. The curriculum in the Upper School Department of The English School Fahaheel is designed to provide a balanced, broad, and rich education as preparation for university courses within the Middle East and further a field. A strong team of proven specialist teachers contributes much to the academic and all-around education of Upper School students.
  2. The English School, which is the only not-for-profit school in Kuwait, has served the English-speaking community here for 60 years and celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in style in February 2013. Closely following the Foundation Stage and National Curriculum for England, pupils are taught by well-qualified and experienced staff who recognize that all children are unique. Pupils are stretched and enriched by a curriculum that is broad, challenging and varied, and caters to the individual needs of each child. Pupils are also encouraged to develop their social and personal skills, with a strong emphasis on good manners and respect for one another. We constantly strive to improve the quality of education that we provide and respond quickly to initiatives and changes in the UK ensuring that our children do get the very best education possible. At the end of their time with us, pupils move on to excellent schools in Kuwait, the UK, and around the world. We are very proud to say that TES pupils are known for being hard workers, high achievers, and well-balanced and ambitious boys and girls ready to make the most of their abilities. The English School provides the best possible British education, primarily for the children of UK expatriates in Kuwait, from the ages of 2½ to 13 plus, to allow those children to make a seamless transition whether to UK State Maintained or Independent schools, schools in Kuwait or elsewhere in the world. With the school’s core values at the heart of all we do, we aim for each child to develop their: Confidence to be comfortable with who you are and with what you think and say. Empathy to understand and appreciate how other people feel and think. Integrity to do what is right in all situations, even when it is difficult to do so. Positivity to be cheerful, optimistic, and to work hard in all that you do. Respect - to treat yourself, all people, and all things in a way that shows you care. The English School follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the National Curriculum for England (2014). Additionally, we are obliged to teach Arabic for Arabs and Islamic Studies for Arabs from Year 1 upwards, and Arabic for non-Arabs from Year 3 upwards. Kuwait Social Studies is also an additional requirement of the Kuwaiti Ministry for Education and this is taught from Year 5 upwards. Teaching at The English School is not rigidly based on age-related learning objectives, but is based around the abilities of each child. Teachers plan and implement differentiated lessons that allow the more able to be stretched and the less able to be supported with work of an appropriate level this enables all students to achieve success through appropriately leveled challenges. At The English School, we are very lucky to be able to offer subject specialist teachers throughout the school. Even our youngest children in the Foundation Stage are taught by specialist PE, ICT, and music teachers. In Key Stage 1 they continue with these specialist lessons and our Arabic students also attend lessons taught by our Arabic and Islamic teachers. In Year 3 upwards, all children attend further specialist lessons for art and DT. French is an additional specialist taught a subject that is offered from Year 4 upwards. In Year 5 students also benefit from specialist teaching in science, and in Year 6 to Year 8 all lessons are taught by subject specialists. The school has an open-door policy, so should you have any concerns about your child and their progress, you are welcome to make an appointment, in the first instance, to discuss this directly with the class teacher/tutor or the relevant subject specialist teacher. If the issue remains unresolved, an appointment should be made to discuss this further with the relevant Pastoral Coordinator or the Director of Studies should the issue continue. At the start of each academic year, parents are invited to attend year group Curriculum Information Evenings. At these meetings, the teachers have the opportunity to explain to parents what they should expect over the coming year and how parents can assist in their child’s learning. Parents also have the opportunity to ask questions with regards to the curriculum and school procedures. Twice yearly, in Term 1 and 2, there are Parent Consultation Evenings, where you will have the opportunity to meet individually with the teacher for an update on your child’s progress. Twice yearly, at the end of Term 1 and 3, you will receive a formal report on your child’s progress, in the form of an electronic report that can be accessed and downloaded from the Parent Portal.
  3. A Don Bosco institution is a dynamic and co-educational school serving the needs of students since 2002. One enjoys a friendly, caring, and safe environment where everyone is made welcome. The school was founded by the Salesians of Don Bosco, dedicated to the education of youth. The Salesian’s daily presence in school life enriches the overall development of each student. We consider each child to be a special member of our school community, each of them has something to offer whether it be a friendly smile, sporting abilities, or academic abilities. We value each child for their individual qualities. Every child is proud to proclaim. We now know that we are vulnerable. We now know that the threats of terror are no longer half a world away. We now know things change and not always for the better. We now know that evil exists. So the question is, how can we live triumphantly in a terror-stricken world? And amid all the chaos, we must find a way to stand and to carry on. All of us have problems. But one way or another we learn to overcome the darkness and get along with life. The darkness surrounding us now seems so much more. Men blowing themselves up in a concert hall or going on a rampage shooting people down irrespective of their color, race, or religion. That is darkness of a different dimension. We do not live on a playground. We live on a battlefield. We are soldiers in a great cosmic war between good and evil. The question asked is what shall we do? How will we go on? How do we live triumphantly in this new reality that has come among us? We need to rebuild our faith in God. And hope for the best. Because hope is to the soul what oxygen is to the body-absolutely essential for survival. People of hope, those who believe in God’s tomorrow, can live better today. Those who expect joy to come out of sadness, strength to come from weakness, new life to arise out of the ashes of the old, are the people who discover God to be a present help in times of trouble. ‘We are born for greater things’ and hence our role in this world must go far beyond us simply taking care of ourselves. We cannot live by hate we need to fill our lives with love. Loving people are healthier people, happier people, and more helpful people than those who allow themselves to sink into the deep pits of rage, revenge, and hate.
  4. Kuwait International English School is part of the Al Rayan group of schools and is situated in Hawally. The school has approximately 600 students and aims to provide teaching and learning in a family atmosphere. We will offer your child the best in private education with small class sizes and British teachers, recruited from the United Kingdom. KIES follows the British Curriculum adapted to suit the needs of our students from Kindergarten to Year 13. All students follow the IGCSE program from Year 10 and many students continue their program of study to AS/A level which allows them to apply to many British and other universities around the globe. To enable students to be motivated, effective and independent learners. Provide an environment that caters to the needs of the individual student. By completing regular assessments on the children, we can cater to their ever-changing needs during the foundation stage.
  5. British-based education offers its students a strong academic grounding but also provides a broad extra-curricular program. The aim is to develop abilities and personalities to enable the graduates of the school to be able to enter and compete in the best universities in the world and, for half a century, this is what the school has achieved. What makes this school special is that its alumni, whatever their abilities, have a special ‘stamp’ that distinguishes them and is recognizable many years later, both in the workplace and in life in general. This stamp is achieved through academic excellence, extra-curricular opportunity, and involvement, as well as the distinctive family atmosphere that has been maintained in the school from the very beginning. The New English School, (N.E.S.) was founded by the late chairman, Mr. Tareq S. Rajab, and was the first private, coeducational day school in Kuwait to offer a British-style curriculum from Kindergarten to A level. The chairman comes from a family with a history of pioneering in education and he established the school at a time of change in Kuwait in which he foresaw the need for education with English as the medium of teaching. The first classes of NES opened in a villa in Shamiyah, actually starting at the Secondary level and very soon after extending backward to Kindergarten. It was soon apparent that this educational venture was outgrowing the original premises, so a purpose-built campus was opened in 1974, and to date, improvements and extensions continue to maintain an environment that allows students to thrive. The school serves both the local and international communities, with children from over 70 nationalities and close ties are maintained with the U.K. and with other overseas British and International schools. The New English School has an enviable academic record and is outstanding in the region. The school achieves its mission through a combination of academic and extra-curricular activities. Thus, along with a broad range of academic subjects, the extra-curricular activities program spans diverse areas – drama, music, sports, the arts, crafts, technology as well as formalized programs such as the Model United Nations (M.U.N.), the International Debating Club and the Duke of Edinburgh Award (International Award), the first school in Kuwait to offer this.

This allows children to explore and learn in an environment that is secure and safe, yet challenging. This means that boys and girls from years 1 to 5 will be taught in separate classes. We believe that this change will directly benefit the education of both boys and girls in school. At The English Playgroup, you will find a stimulating and successful program of learning, playing, and care, taught by the very best trained English specialist teachers. Within the schools, there is a strong belief in children receiving a challenging and inspirational education and in developing their talents and personalities in preparation for their future education. At our schools, we use the English National Curriculum to deliver the best of Early Years and Primary Education. Over the years, we have developed our books and curriculum resources that match our student’s abilities and help them progress solidly through the Foundation, KS 1, and KS 2 levels. Arabic is taught in line with the Kuwait Ministry of Education guidelines. Class sizes are kept small at our schools to ensure each child receives the attention and care they deserve and all our staff is experienced professional teachers with high standards of achievement.

  12. The very great Thomas Carlyle said, "Nothing builds self-confidence and self-esteem like accomplishments". In the next stage of our journey, i.e. the next five to ten years, we shall endeavor to build a strong management team, implement cutting-edge curriculum resources, and above all strive to emphasize passion towards the quality of our students’ learning experience. In our team, we shall endeavor to recruit exceptionally trained teachers who are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and experienced in differentiated teaching practice. Our school endeavors to create a learning community where the class leaders collaborate to create exciting learning opportunities they are committed to pastoral care and consistently play an active role in school life. As a small, family school this positive and personalized approach undertaken by our cohort of educationalists will encourage our students to develop a love of learning and a desire to excel in their fulfillment in the achievement of their academic potential. The English School for Girls follows the National Curriculum for England and Wales, commonly referred to as the British Curriculum. This is supplemented by lessons in the Arabic Language for all students and Islamic Studies for Islamic students. Through this curriculum, we aim to have all students make the most of their academic opportunities. Tests and IGCSE examinations are all externally set in Great Britain and students around the world all sit them on the same day. Tests are conducted in Literacy and Numeracy for Key Stages 1 and 2 and in English, Mathematics, and Science for Key Stage 3. They are internally marked by International Schools but there are very detailed and strict marking schemes issued by the examining board. Students are graded according to the National Curriculum level they achieve and these are reported to parents by the school as levels. In Years 10 and 11 students will take a range of subjects for IGCSE. These exams are externally marked and are graded on an A to G scale. Students who achieve 5 or more A to C passes are eligible to move to the next phase of their education. At ESG we will provide support in a caring, organized, and disciplined manner, encouraging each student to reach their full potential. Every child will have an equal opportunity to learn. We aim to promote amongst our students, the understanding and tolerance of any differences in ability, race, or culture. This we will achieve through a common code of moral conduct in which Islamic values are adhered to and respected. We will demonstrate, through a balanced curriculum that the academic, social, moral, personal and physical development of each student is of equal importance. Our curriculum and school philosophy aim to encourage full participation by all students.
  13. “Choosing the road of Education is a difficult one but also a wonderful one. “While engaged in our scholastic pursuit towards excellence in all academic areas we recognize all the moral values in building Humanity and engage ourselves to act upon issues threatening our Human Family and hence our Earth Home.” All students at Kuwait National English School are members of an international community. They get to know each other and learn to respect each other. We aim to build their personalities, to broaden their minds, to increase their knowledge in all academic subjects, to prepare them, while they develop their knowledge, to be ready to tackle different issues: human, social, cultural and scientific, and environmental. In other words, we prepare our students to be fully responsible, develop intercultural understanding, and be internationally minded. We aim to develop their intellectual and cognitive skills as well as physical, social, and artistic skills but, we aim also to prepare our students to be fully responsible citizens, conscious not only of their rights but also of their duties as being part of the “Human Family” and to take care of our “Earth Home”. We aim to build a community, gathering people from different cultural backgrounds in which everyone recognizes our common humanity and destiny. Our students learn and understand that we are living in a fragile limited, interdependent world and which is in constant evolution. Students, who come to KNES, often go somewhere else to continue, their studies according to the activities of their parents. We have to take this factor into account for their further adaptation to be easier. In brief, we consider the following points as part of our mandate. To develop the respect of the fundamental values such as truth, trust, integrity, justice, respect for others, and respect for their well-being. To develop in each student verbal and written skills. Within the limits of the syllabus and the resources of the school, we try to develop the student’s intellectual, physical, and social abilities. To promote in each student a spirit of inquiry, analysis, and a sense of criticism so that, within the conflicting ideologies of our modern world and the plethora of information, they succeed in making up their own opinion. To try to give enthusiasm to students to study and to let them learn by themselves (to learn how to learn). To train students in experimental methods and observation: to look for information (facts), to investigate, and to explain. To make sure that body and mind are one, (a healthy mind works only with a healthy body). To make sure each student is aware of the fragility of our environment and practice responsible conservation. To instill in each student a sense of loyalty to his/her peers and the school. To educate students on the importance of social contribution, to prepare them to be useful members of the Global Community. In all activities, to encourage respect for the diversity of cultures within the school and the world in general, in a word to promote the spirit of tolerance and to promote the necessary spirit for co-operation in general, and peace. Kuwait National English School is a private co-educational non-profit making organization, offering classes from Charlotte Pre-School, KG up to the entrance to university with IGCSE, GCSE, GCE, and IAS, and IAL. Kuwait National English School follows the New National Curriculum from the UK and is an approved Centre of Examination since 1996 from the UK. The Early Years Department with its extension of Charlotte Preschool named after the late Patron of the Department has a lovely garden and a separate entrance and a covered separate safe playground. The school campus itself has also three large playgrounds with covered areas, a large theatre and a canteen for pupils and staff called Gourmet Corner, and a well-resourced Media Centre. We are proud of the comments made by all the Accreditation and Inspection Teams on the performance of the school and the efforts made on continuous improvements towards excellence.
  14. Experienced carefully selected Yokohama English preschool staff and a fulfilling curriculum are not just to become able to speak English but also to learn about various cultures and customs. We have prepared a variety of events throughout the year and we have many activities that foster children's intellectual curiosity and creativity in daily learning. In addition, even those who are planning to take the examination at a famous private elementary school in Japan, we have set up separate examinations classes so that we can be compatible with English education with confidence. In addition, some courses let you select the day of the week to suit your wishes, so you can of course get through as an infant English conversation classroom. The important thing for a child is how much fun and means you can spend your time at school. Our Yokohama English preschool staff keep in mind that we never feel stressed in children's first experience of learning. In addition, Yokohama English preschool incorporates a wide variety of cultures from around the world for children to acquire an international sense. As we prepare various events and curriculums throughout the year, children can learn a truly international sense while having fun. Since our classroom has a small group system, we can respect each individual's individuality by careful attentive care, and we will be able to maximize each student's abilities. Also, we have all the veteran staff for raising children, so please feel free to contact us if you have any troubles such as childcare or education. The Yokohama English preschool is located in a residential area for foreign residents with a good environment near Negishi Forest Park and is conveniently located for cars and buses. On sunny days I will go to a nearby park. The classroom faces the garden and is a very bright classroom with a spacious and open feeling of full open style. In the spacious space, the children spend their time elongation and comfort, learn, and gradually grow towards true international people. (How are you? How old you? pencil grip. Write your name. EISP promotes a digital learning path where students are introduced and trained in computational thinking, programming language (coding), and the use of digital technologies and resources starting from Nursery/Infant School with age-appropriate lessons and workshops. These specific educational activities enhance various skills including problem-solving, logical thinking, and creativity to be then combined in a single project such as the creation of a videogame or an interactive story. School trips and events are designed as an extension of the curriculum and are an integral part of students’ personal growth we offer valuable first-hand experiences, for our students to achieve new abilities and perspectives of analysis. Their open-mindedness has the opportunity to flourish as they become more self-aware and improve their understanding of the world outside, visiting international conferences (MUN, TOK), artistic, cultural, and natural locations in Italy as abroad. EISP considers school orientation to be a crucial element and supports students in making the right choices by suggesting the best strategies to follow for their future careers. More specifically the High School relies on an internal Careers Advisor, who encourages students’ research of the best academic and professional opportunities in Italy and abroad, guiding them step by step in the admission process and liaising closely with universities and companies. EISP has two Psychologists one for the Infant/Nursery and Elementary School and one for the Secondary School. The Psychologists actively support students, staff, and parents. Our educational mission is to provide students with the essential stimuli to develop and achieve their potential in an international learning environment that can encourage and motivate them to give their best every day. EISP aims to make its students citizens of the world and life-long learners, preparing them for the challenges of a complex and changing reality through a holistic approach that encompasses all aspects of their personal development. 16. Founded in 2000 in the center of Vicenza, the Little English School is an international school that welcomes children of nursery, primary, and middle school ages. At each level, the classroom lessons are taught in English by qualified native teachers. Our program includes the integration of the British National Curriculum and the Italian Ministerial Program. Under the guidance of our trained staff who work daily with passion and enthusiasm, we have created an environment where problem-solving in a creative way is encouraged, and the acquisition of tools for critical thinking is stimulated. Our priority is to support children in their emotional, cognitive and social development, and thus our child-teacher ratio is very low. We give each student the attention he or she needs, as an individual, and as part of a group. The school also places a strong emphasis on the development of civic sense and respect for diversity. The Little English aims to provide an environment and opportunities which encourage all students to become receptive, independent, creative and responsible world citizens. We recognize the wide range of aptitudes, interests, and cultural backgrounds of every learner and the impact they will have on each other and the wider community in the future. The Little English School aims to nurture and support the potential of every child to become a knowledgeable, proactive and curious student. We believe our students must be aided in the development of their natural curiosity and supported in the acquisition of the skills that will render them autonomous in the learning process. Our school aims to be a place where children learn to learn, taking joy in doing so. Our students’ constant exposure to languages other than their mother tongue provides them with an open mind towards other cultures and a strong awareness of diversity. There are significant advantages to learning a second language early in life. Very young children learn through play and first-hand experience. Students in our elementary and middle school obtain a strong English proficiency through a differentiated and stimulating program. The Little English School, therefore, offers a unique educational opportunity for both very young and primary/middle school-aged children who attend our facility. Our Goals: To create a secure, happy, and stimulating environment that supports and stimulates the all-around (academic, physical, social, and emotional) development of each child. To value each student, taking into account individual diversity. To ensure that each student knows how to use language effectively, developing a strong English proficiency. To provide a curriculum that covers the subject requirements of the Italian education system. To develop self-esteem and awareness of the needs of others. To encourage qualities such as creativity, curiosity, and imagination, aiding in the development of critical thinking. To promote respect for moral values, highlighting multiculturalism. To create a school community open to dialogue and cooperation. We believe in helping each child develop self-confidence, self-respect, and self-reliance as essential ingredients for learning. As part of an international community, we also believe that students who have a meaningful connection to different cultures and nationalities will actively seek to create a world in which cooperation, tolerance, and kindness will prevail. The Little English School offers a structure where students feel safe and confident to explore and engage in different experiences. This encourages a strong sense of community between staff, pupils, and families. The classrooms are organized so that our students sit and work in small groups. All furniture is child-sized and appropriate for each age group. Students’ work and other educational materials are displayed in the classroom to make the environment lively, colorful, and inspiring.
  17. The English International School is an International school which welcomes children from 5 to 14 years old. The school was founded in September 1992 with a class of 12 children in Bassano del Grappa. The project was set up by a group of parents who wanted their children to experience an international education and thereby grow up at ease with many different cultures. The school is based in a recreational zone of the town with a swimming pool, sports center, cycle routes and footpaths set around the school. The Villa had been remodeled to make it suitable for its use as a school. However, the classrooms preserve much of the original character of the building, and the children experience a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by green space in a beautiful setting. Our Mission is to: Help children develop an active intellect and a life long curiosity for learning. Promote their curiosity to ask questions and to seek answers through rational argument. Realize the full potential of each child. Stimulate children's linguistic and mathematical learning processes. Develop their aesthetic awareness. Encourage the children to take pride in their work and seek high standards in all that they do. Teach the children the appropriate use of the English and Italian languages. Develop in all students respect for moral values and an understanding and appreciation of different Races, Creeds, and Cultures. Help the children to understand the world around them and the relationships connecting individuals, groups, and Nations. Encourage teamwork. Help children grow into capable, confident, rational, and positive adults who can live their lives productively and be active and positive members of their community. Promote the development of healthy relationships between the children and the staff of the school in a calm and disciplined environment. Instill mutual respect and consideration for the needs of others within a united, well-organized community. The English International School discipline is based on mutual respect and positive reinforcement. The school aims to raise self-esteem and reinforce respect for each other to help students choose their behavior appropriately for every situation. The pupils are expected to maintain excellent behavior towards their teachers, peers, and community members. Self-control is also insisted upon while moving to and from the sports hall, the playgrounds, or the dining hall. The school's whole Programme is based on putting the child at the heart of their own personal and educational progress. The school offers its students an education of high quality, which gives them the necessary intellectual, emotional and linguistic tools for life. The school aims to satisfy each pupil's needs, taking account of their age, experience, and ability. The Programme is flexible enough to be adapted to different groups and classes to be stimulating and productive. Above all, it should stimulate the student to develop a pleasure for life long learning.

    Fisher College

At Fisher College, we believe that college is more than just an education—it's a life-changing experience. For more than a century, Fisher has been changing lives by providing opportunities to students focused on the three most important aspects of a college experience: education, dedication, and life. Fisher is a four-year college located in Boston's historic Back Bay with locations in Brockton, New Bedford, and North Attleboro. The College provides affordable, real-world educations that prepare students to achieve their career goals and compete in today's challenging economy. Additionally, Fisher College is dedicated to the education of our military service members. Fisher College first opened its doors in 1903 in the predominantly working-class city of Somerville, Massachusetts, just two miles north of Boston. The school traces its roots to educational entrepreneurs Myron and Edmund Fisher, who believed the immigrants of that city in the early 1900s should have an opportunity to advance beyond unskilled labor jobs. In 1952, the Board of Regents of Higher Education of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts approved Fisher as a two-year college, and five years later it was given degree-granting powers. In 1970, Fisher gained accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and operates as an independent, non-profit educational institution, currently boasting a diverse population of students from all parts of America and many foreign countries. Fisher College improves lives by providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary for a lifetime of intellectual and professional pursuits. Whether traditional or non-traditional, undergraduate, graduate, or professional, our students come to Calumet College of St. Joseph to share our commitment to learning as a lifelong endeavor. We, in turn, take our responsibility seriously to foster and support excellence in Catholic higher education, to keep a Calumet College of St. Joseph education accessible to a diverse population of students, and to offer personal attention and care to each member of the Calumet College of St. Joseph family. Since that time, we have added three more graduate programs: Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Arts in Psychology, and a Master of Science in Management. Subsequently, the Law Enforcement Administration degree was revised and is now the Public Safety Administration. These four master's programs provide students with the skills, knowledge, and dispositions to confront their careers' challenges and affect their professions. In 1951 the Missionaries of the Precious Blood established an educational outpost in Northwest Indiana. They served a community like their patron St. Joseph: selfless, hardworking, and devoted to family. In church basements and empty storefronts, they educated the sons and daughters of mill workers and first-generation college students. Offering the Calumet Region's first bachelor's degree, the College changed lives. Providing access to education, the College grew. A move to Whiting accommodated expansion. In 1973, Amoco donated the building that currently serves as our 6-story "vertical campus." During these early years, the College's academic mission was defined: to serve the Calumet Region by offering quality education in the Catholic tradition. In keeping with the Catholic tradition, we place a high value on the dignity of every person. In addition to gaining knowledge and skill, our students learn to respect themselves and others. They learn to serve. Our graduates become alumni who make a daily difference in the community. They positively influence the fields of education, business, law enforcement, and the professions. They serve as artists and social workers, leaders of banking, and industry. This dedicated family of alumni is the College's legacy and future. With our roots deep in the Calumet Region, the College continues to grow. We carry on the tradition of serving a diverse student population, changing lives through education. Master's degrees and accelerated programs remove time and space barriers for our adult students. Innovative education programs assist professionals to transition to teaching. An athletic program, established in 1999, swelled the College's traditionally-aged academic population. Across the curriculum, our social justice emphasis fosters ethical behavior and civic engagement. We actively serve our neighbors with thousands of volunteer hours a year. We share our gifts with the less fortunate, providing books to the school-aged victims of Hurricane Katrina and adopting a Guatemalan village. Through academics and outreach, the College's mission extends far beyond the classroom.

    Bethel College

Founded in 1947 by a group of Missionary Church visionaries, the goal was to create leaders for the world. In the seven decades that have passed since then, we have succeeded in that mission! While some things have changed on campus, we've continued to be intentional as we guide students along in their spiritual journey and path to academic success in some key ways: Our students' spiritual formation is about creating a holistic approach for each student's spiritual journey and personal discovery. That begins with being faithful to God and his word. Mentoring is a part of the Bethel community where students can connect with their peers, faculty, staff, and even alumni. At Bethel, students build lifelong relationships that will continue well past graduation. Academics in over 50 areas of study allow students to explore, grow, and prepare for their future careers. Each field of study is rich with knowledgeable professors seeking the success of our students. Every fall, students return to campus, ready to grow and ready to engage in experiences that will shape them for their future roles in the world. From undergraduate programs that train nurses to sign language interpreters to musicians to athletes, our students impact the world. Our students are offered many opportunities through task force trips, internships, and, finally, careers. We can offer more grad courses now than in the past through an expanded online program. Bethel offers graduate programs online, on-campus, and some as hybrids. We offer master's degrees in business administration (Online MBA), counseling (M.A. in Counseling Online), education (including Master's in Education Online, a school administrator license, Special Education Licensure Online, Transition to Teaching Licensure Program – On-campus (evening courses), Master of Reading and Literacy Online, Online Masters Degree in Educational Leadership), ministry (Master of Ministry Degree Online), Nursing (, Educator's track and Administrator track), Teaching, Theological Studies (Master of Ministry and Master of Arts in Theology). The experiences do not end when students leave campus. In our Bethel Community Stories section, we share stories about our alumni, as well as reports on current students, donors, faculty, staff, and friends whom we hope to provide inspiration and seeds of wisdom. We are a Christian community of learners dedicated to building lives of commitment to leadership in the Church and the world. Bethel provides liberating academic and co-curricular programs to challenge the mind, enlarge the vision, and equip the whole person for lifelong service. Our goal is to partner with our students and families to connect them with the resources they need to help their dreams become a reality. Your education at Bethel College is an investment in your future. We are confident that your time at Bethel will help you become the best version of yourself, with your future potential to become even more than you can imagine! Financial aid, grants, scholarships, loans – it can be overwhelming and confusing. While there are common steps for every institution for financial aid, there are also some unique requirements. Federal Aid – financial aid from the federal government, is available to help you pay for education expenses. Grants (Pell, TEACH, SEOG), loans (subsidized, unsubsidized, PLUS), and work-study are federal student aid types you must complete the FAFSA to apply for this aid. More information regarding federal aid can be found on their site. State Aid – Indiana residents may be eligible for grants from the state of Indiana to be applied to their direct tuition costs. These grants are need-based, and the FAFSA must be completed by April 15th to be considered for any applicable state grants. More information regarding state financial aid. Institutional Awards – Bethel College awards many types of institutional scholarships and grants to full-time undergraduate students. Awards may be based on merit or need and may be restricted to tuition costs only. Financial aid awards and policies are subject to change—review list of an expanded list of institutional awards and financial aid policies. Students can apply for an alternative loan to cover remaining educational expenses, but most will need a credit-worthy cosigner. Based on the federal government's criteria, students who receive federal financial aid may be selected for verification. This process is designed to verify the financial information provided on the FAFSA. A verification worksheet and federal tax information is required to complete the process. Additional information may also be requested. To be considered for all financial aid, information must be submitted within 30 days of the college's written request. In no instance will verification information be processed beyond the student's enrollment period. All federal, state, and institutional grants and scholarships will post to your student account at the start of each semester, once all requirements have been met. Some grants or scholarships may have minimum enrollment, or housing requirements endowed scholarships often require a thank-you note from the recipient to be sent to the donor. Some federal programs require additional steps to be completed before funds being released, such as the direct loan and TEACH grant. From the original Oakwood-Slater Hall and Shupe Hall for underclassmen to the newer Logan Village for upper-level students, there's a rich history in our student dorms. In your home away from home, you'll build close friendships and always support our Student Life Staff. Bethel College's Spiritual Life is often referred to as the heartbeat of campus. Whether you are in the chapel, the classroom, or the dorm, you will find opportunities to grow spiritually. Three times a week, students and staff gather together for chapel. With student-led worship and a variety of speakers, this weekly practice allows the Bethel community to engage different perspectives and experiences. Our Spiritual Life team puts on events to engage the campus in spiritual practices and disciplines throughout the year. Read through the Bible in a weekend during Scripture 66, participate in prayer stations during the Collegiate Day of Prayer, or join the weekly alternative service, Vespers. Most significantly, though, Bethel College is a community of discipleship. There is a vibrant mentoring program on campus, and staff, faculty, and students all reap the benefits of these relationships. We hope you will take part in this essential piece of the Bethel experience.

  25. In November of 2001, a small group of Christians met in Chino, California, to consider establishing a Reformed Christian college on the West Coast. Parents and young people were often hesitant to travel great distances to the nearest Reformed college. Moreover, the West Coast had many students who would benefit from a specifically Reformed perspective in their college education. At Providence, we believe that an institution is most successful if its vision is stated clearly and integrated consciously into every aspect of community life. The principles that guide Providence are adherence to the teachings of Scripture, Christ-centeredness in both doctrine and practice, and faithful service in extending the Kingdom of God into every area of life. These principles are woven throughout the Providence experience, from school mission statement to syllabus. The name given to Providence Christian College speaks boldly of God's excellent provision in the past and our trust in His goodness to provide for this college's future. God's Word, "providence," means that our sovereign God controls, upholds, and rules everything so that nothing happens to us by chance. As one of our Reformed confessions states, as a result of God's Providence, "we can be patient when things go against us, thankful when things go well, and for the future, we can have good confidence in our faithful God and Father that nothing will separate us from His love" (Heidelberg Catechism, Lord's Day 10). Our name also demands that we remember His sovereign care every day in the future. Whenever we stop trusting His Providence, we will fail. Whenever we begin trusting in ourselves, we will fall. It is our prayer that Providence Christian College, and all those associated with it, will always promote its name, trusting in the compassionate care of our Heavenly Father. The eye-catching centerpiece to Providence's campus is McGavran Hall, named for India's famous Christian missionary, who was a significant influence on modern missions, Donald A. McGavran. Providence classrooms fill the second floor of this impressive three-story structure, recently remodeled and upgraded with newly installed wireless internet. Students enjoy a clean and functional learning environment, complete with wall-sized windows looking out on the campus with mountains in the background. As the Academic Resource Center (ARC) is located down the hall from the classrooms, academic help and a quiet study area are just a short walk away. Open until midnight, and the ARC is the place for late-night study groups and a workspace away from distractions. Pierce Hall is the most versatile and widely-used facility on campus. It is centrally located immediately to the north of Speer Hall. The upper floor houses the cafeteria, which is complete with outdoor balcony seating. Students share meals with Providence staff and faculty, along with the extended community of the campus's other residents and organizations. The Latourette Library stands tall at the north end of the campus. One large room of the second floor houses Providence's book collection and research materials. Against the walls, there are several study carrels and computers for exclusive use by Providence students. In addition to Providence's library, students have access to William Carey's expansive third-floor collection of theological and mission-oriented materials for study. Located at the edge of the campus to the west of the Pierce building, the Gladys Aylward Hall provides residential space for over 300 people. Providence occupies the northern wing of the building with men on the first floor and women on the second. Rooms consist mainly of two-person rooms complete with beds, desks, and ample storage space. Each hall has a spacious, typical restroom. In addition to residences, Aylward provides a well-stocked weight room, several community rooms, community kitchen facilities, barbeque, and mail service. Located on the north edge of campus along Elizabeth Street, Townsend Hall provides additional residential space. It boasts a newly renovated quad style living and a spacious inner courtyard. Providence is committed to affordable education for all of its students, which is why we partner with you to make an educational investment in your future. Because of hundreds of generous donors, 100% of our students receive financial aid. Providence holds its total cost at an average of $7500 less than other Christian colleges in California, and last year 72% of our students received a renewable academic scholarship. In order to help our students achieve their academic and religious goals during their time at Providence, we have instituted several financial aid packages, including Grants, Scholarships, Loans, and Work-Study Programs. Also, we offer the Providence Promise Loan Repayment Assistance Program. This program is unique to Providence and ensures that our graduates can successfully follow God's plan for their future without worrying about student loan debt. Our financial aid advisor is on hand to help you with anything you need and our admissions counselors are happy to let you know what the next steps are in applying for financial aid.
