To reinforce its positioning within the framework of Portuguese's higher education institutions, it began a merger process in November 2000 (the 1st stage of which included the merger of the founding entities ESE/ENFOC, in June 2005), that was completed in 2006 through the merger of ISAG - Instituto Superior de Administracao e Gestao and ISAI - Instituto Superior de Assistentes e Interpretes into a single institute of higher education, under the name of ISAG - Instituto Superior de Administracao e Gestao - (2nd Series), 13th March, of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology. 3. Welcome to ISAL. We are thrilled to have you on our premises, a place where strong will, motivation, and knowledge are shared. SAL, as an institution of Higher Studies, initiated its activity in Madeira Autonomous Region – the Pearl of the Atlantic- in 1984. This year it commemorates its 30 years of existence. In the beginning, ISAL developed several Higher Studies which granted a Cacharel degree in Management and Tourism Areas. To accomplish further goals, ISAL acquired new facilities which allowed the adequate development of new actions within the area of Higher Studies. These new facilities were inaugurated in 2004 and they represent the first phase of the investment. 2005 was a marking year not only for ISAL but also for Madeira Autonomous Region itself once ISAL obtained permission to offer its first degree. For the very first time, a degree in Tourism was created in Madeira Autonomous Region. In 2006 ISAL began a new adventure: Postgraduate Studies. In that year a Postgraduate Study in Hotel Management was created and, thanks to its success, ISAL annually launches several new Post graduations in decisive areas always bearing in mind what is needed in the Region. In the next school year, we will promote the following Post graduation: Local Accommodation Management (New), Human Resources Management (5th Edition), Management and Logistics ( New), Management of Health Services and Social Institutions (6th Edition). With the setting up of the Bologne Agreement, ISAL created the following Degrees in 2007/08: Management, Hotel Management, Tourism. From 2008 to 2014 ISAL has developed several TSC´s(Technological Specialisation Courses): Human Resources Administrative Management (7 editions), Environmental Tourism ( 4 editions), Commercial Management (1 edition). Nowadays ISAL has acquired new facilities which will allow the development of consistent studies not only in the areas of Post graduations but also in new studies known as PHTS – “ Higher Technician Studies” along with the existing degrees. We acknowledge there is still a long way to go and to accomplish our goals we are also counting on the active participation of all the intervenients, besides new strategic measures which include a strong bet on post-graduation studies and, in the future, the offering of second-cycle studies (masters). ISAL is a nonintegrated Private Polytechnic establishment of Higher Studies. Its genesis dates back to 1971, a period when other institutions of Teaching and Professional Studies were created in Lisbon and which developed synergies that were determinant for the organization and functioning of ISAL in Madeira. In 1984, the Regional Secretary of Education of the Autonomous Region of Madeira granted the needed permission for this Institute to function. This way, the very first private institution of pos-secondary studies was born in the Region. The ISAL also develops, together with the higher studies of tourism and management, several complementary or connected activities to that level of studies, namely in the areas that allow the perfecting and counseling in management and tourism. The expansion of ISAL permitted the use of a wide variety of equipment which allowed not only the improvement of the scientific and pedagogical levels but also an increase in the offer of courses. In the school year of 2007/2008, the implementation of the adequacy of the courses offered at ISAL to the juridical regime, dated 24. March, thus making possible the aims of the Bologna Declaration, was relevant to explicit the adhesion of this Institute to a paradigm – a teaching system based on the acquisition and development of competencies- that is somehow already present in the working methodology adopted at ISAL. 12. ENA was created just after the end of the Second World War by executive order (Ordonnance) of the French Republic's provisional government, then led by General de Gaulle. This ordonnance, dated October 9, 1945, was prepared by a temporary task force on administrative reform, led by Michel Debré, then a member of the Council of State (Conseil d'Etat, France's highest administrative court). It intended to "fully overhaul France's administrative machinery," virtually by broadening access to recruitment for the highest executive levels of the non-technical civil service through a joint entrance examination. ENA has continued to update its structures and educational program to remain faithful to the principles that guided its foundation in 1945. Administrative personnel, researchers, archivists, pedagogical advisers, warehouse personnel, audiovisuals, and copying technicians all work together to ensure that the school functions well. ENA has a permanent teaching staff of only 2, French as a foreign language and in sports. More than 1,500 other teachers are recruited each year for all of the school's different educational programs, coordinated by the educational directors. Besides student delegates, ENA's Board of Directors, chosen for their competence, includes, among others, members of the National Assembly, the Senate and the European Parliament, reflecting the strong European and international character of the school. The Chairman of the Board of Directors is, ex officio, the Vice-President of the Council of State, the nation's highest-ranking civil servant. The Long International Course is a general course. It helps students deepen their knowledge on European issues and become familiar with the French administration. This course allows them to benefit from the same training as the French students at ENA. The latter passed the entrance examinations, particularly from two internships, one based on European Affairs and one on Regional Affairs (France). The Long International Course (14 months + 1,5 months*) is aimed at young foreign civil servants and foreign public agents, and in some very exceptional cases, to foreigners who have shown a career plan that involves a commitment to public service their countries of origin. Administrateurs civils serves in all ministries. The majority of the positions offered to students graduating from ENA form part of this civil service category (corps). The areas of action handled by each ministry or central government agency are incredibly varied. Each administration has its specific characteristics, and a choice assumes a considerable interest in the area of activity chosen. A Committee for the History of ENA was created in 1999. A natural part of the school's Director's Office, this committee draws on the testimony of former students, members of the school's administration, teachers, and members of examination boards, and many others who have taken part in the school's operations. Certain documents essential for intimate knowledge of the school are also made available: courses, lectures, student work (reports on professional training experiences or seminars), directors' reports, reports of the chairpersons of examination panels, etc.

      16. A privately-owned institution of higher learning, PSBA conducts instructional programs exclusively in business education. It is a member of the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities and the Philippine Association of Collegiate Schools of Business. PSBA envisions itself to be globally recognized as the RIGHT SCHOOL FOR A COMPLETE BUSINESS EDUCATION.PSBA assumes the responsibility to educate men and women to become good citizens who will practice in their everyday life the true meaning of value-laden education and who will be able to co-exist in peace, friendship, and dignity with their fellowmen. PSBA aims to provide quality instruction, undertake and utilize research for sustainable development, serve the community, instill virtues, and uphold lifelong learning. Our service should be worthy, vigorous, resourceful, courteous, and reliable to make a difference in BUSINESS EDUCATION quality. The PSBA e-learning system is created to uphold the school's commitment to providing a world-class education to the youth through the Blended Model of Teaching (20% Online, 80% face-to-face). Teachers and students can have both online and lecture type of teaching and learning experiences. Our work should make a difference in the quality of business education in the country. To this end, we should try to discover what is most important to do and focus our resources on the most incredible, most enduring benefits. In doing this, we should continually remind ourselves of the inherent worth of all people and make its responsibility to be attentive to everybody's unique needs in our school. To make a difference in the world and turn ideas into action, we must be pioneers in our field, contributors to knowledge, problem solvers, explorer of ideas, and risk-takers. Our service should be worthy, vigorous, resourceful, courteous, and reliable. In pursuing our mission, we should be a healthy, creative organization with the needed financial and inner resources to produce our best work. To demand the best of ourselves and attract, stimulate, and keep the best people, we must develop an environment that will support innovation, experimentation, and calculated risk-taking. As an organization, we should prize each member of our staff's creative participation, welcome the open exchange of ideas, and foster the practice of careful listening. We must actively encourage the personal well-being and professional development of every person who works here. Therefore, we should maximize the authority and responsibility of each person so that he can continue to make an even more outstanding contribution. Our policies should be implemented sensitively and consistently. Founded in October 1963, by men of vision whose lives have been dedicated to university administration and teaching, and in varied executive capacities in business and industry and the professions, it did not come as a surprise that they have chosen to dedicate the school exclusively to the development of aspiring young men and women who could meet the workforce requirements of our economy as a developing nation. PSBA commits to provide the students with an education that will develop analytical thinking, self-expression, moral and social responsibility, and the skill in discovering the truth. Originally launched as a review and training center for Certified Public Accountants under the name of "PHILIPPINE ACCOUNTING AND TAXATION TRAINING SERVICES, Inc." (PATTS), it became, in no time, one of the most prominent CPA review School in the country. From the beginning of its operation, the review program's products have been leading the lists of successful candidates in every CPA examination. Changing its corporate name to the Philippine School of Business Administration (PSBA) in 1966, it offered baccalaureate programs in business administration. Today, it is considered one of the leading schools of business in the country. In June 1981, PSBA opened a sister school in Quezon City under the name of the Philippine School of Business Administration Inc. – Quezon City, which, like PSBA-Manila, has emphasized the quality of academic programs and scholarship. Located on a sprawling campus, this new school has already gained acceptance of students in the short period of its life, and its enrollment has kept on growing. To help meet the country's management requirements for more advanced and sophisticated industrial and commercial life as well as for further governmental responsibilities, PSBA started to offer the MBA program in June 1979. Effective SY 1993-1994, DECS authorized the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) course, which emphasizes creative scholarship and develops professional competence through a comprehensive understanding of management functions and strategy and coping with future changes in the environment. These graduate programs are mainly conducted on-campus; however, occasional off-campus classes are arranged on representations of business corporations and government agencies, which prefer classes to be conducted for their executive and officers in their work places because of time constraint. Actual off-campus classes are now in operation at the Philippine National Bank, Philippine Tourism Authority, and Congress of the Philippines (for administrative employees) and Rizal's provincial government. Negotiations are in process with other government agencies and private establishments for similar classes. Cooperative linkages have also been with educational institutions in Asia countries where PSBA provides technical assistance in designing academic programs in business education and providing administrative advisory services and qualified Filipino professors and instructors. Under these arrangements, we have existing tie-ups with institutions of higher learning in Indonesia and Pakistan.
      17. IBA is the oldest business school outside North America. It was established in 1955 with initial technical support provided by the world-famous Wharton School of Finance, the University of Pennsylvania later, the University of Southern California set up various facilities at the Institute, and several prominent American professors were assigned to the IBA. IBA has zealously guarded the high standards and academic traditions it had inherited from Wharton and USC while adapting and adjusting them with time. "To be among the best learning institutions in Pakistan—recognized for developing potential leaders, nurturing a vibrant community of scholars and practitioners, generating innovative ideas, and promoting creative solutions that address the needs of Pakistan, the region, and the global community." For the Institute of Business Administration, 2016 marks both the end of one era and another. After completing a successful inning spanning over eight years, Dr. Ishrat handed over the baton of IBA's leadership to the next Dean and Director. To date, the IBA has been led by ten visionary individuals, and each has made his significant contribution to the development of the Institute. Their contribution to making IBA the institution that it is today can never be discounted. But history will record Dr. Ishrat Husain's outstanding performance as a pivotal moment, one that carried the institution firmly but surely into the 21st century. The IBA today sets a standard that other institutions emulate and serves as a beacon of hope and success for students across the nation. The Institute has gone through significant changes over these six decades to embrace a more comprehensive set of disciplines in its curricula. These changes have been made to respond to society's requirements, the market, and the economy. They are also an outcome of associations forged with credible institutions, both local and international, and various stakeholders' most prominent being the IBA Alumni. During the last eight years, the Institute has witnessed massive developments in all areas ranging from infrastructure, accreditations, increase in programs, faculty, and students to linkages, thus changing IBA's physical and academic landscape. Prominent among Dr. Ishrat's contributions is overseeing the inception and development of Centres of Excellence such as Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance (CEIF), Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ), Centre for Business and Economics Research (CBER), Centre for Executive Education, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) and the Ardeshir Cowasjee Centre for Writing. The establishment of Centres of Excellence fulfills a crucial need by servicing professional communities outside the institution and student, faculty, and staff. They complement the institution's mission and serve as crucial avenues through which the IBA returns to society.
