  11. Our mission affirms international education's central principles: academic rigor and diversity, critical thinking, and communication across cultures. We are the only Bay Area school offering a truly multilingual, multicultural education that culminates in the International Baccalaureate or French Bac. Our youngest students pursue a bilingual curriculum in French and English through 8th grade. As students progress through the school, they hone their critical thinking skills, communicate in at least three languages, and participate in a rich array of arts, athletics, service learning, and travel programs. Our classrooms are lively, and our school community is always engaging. Students and faculty from across the Bay Area worldwide forge meaningful, trusting relationships as they experiment and explore, question, and collaborate. Committed to every student's well-being and success, our teachers bring global teaching experience and expertise in their disciplines into a differentiated classroom daily. Boldness is a hallmark of a French American education: students grapple with real issues raised in the context of a challenging curriculum. Here, students experience the world and develop a sense of autonomy, empathy, and agency. They are primed to go out into the world and make a positive difference. Guided by the principles of academic rigor and diversity, the French American International School offers programs of study in French and English to prepare its graduates for a world in which the ability to think critically and communicate across cultures is of paramount importance. Our international community brings together people from many backgrounds. Together we strive to create a shared culture that develops compassionate, confident, and principled people who will make the world better. We base our community on these values: RESPECT – We celebrate the dignity, shared humanity, and potential in everyone. We listen attentively, speak thoughtfully, and act with courtesy and kindness. We take care of ourselves, our community, and our environment. INTEGRITY – We speak and act with honesty. We take responsibility for our actions, and we meet our commitments. INCLUSION – We celebrate the diversity that defines our school, our community, and the world. We seek to understand one another and to appreciate differing perspectives. We act with empathy and compassion. COLLABORATION – We prize the benefits of working and learning together. We succeed through shared effort and by seeking excellence in ourselves and one another. CURIOSITY – We are inquisitive about the world and our place in it, about ourselves, and one another. We ask questions, take risks, and delight in discovery. At French American International School, our youngest minds are immersed in two languages from day one. Teachers pay close attention to each student's linguistic and socio-emotional development, warmly encouraging critical thinking, active exchange, and cooperation. As students progress through the school, they learn to communicate in at least three languages, study mathematics in two languages, participate in a rich array of arts, athletics, and travel programs, engage in local and global service-learning projects, and further develop strong critical thinking skills within a challenging, engaging curriculum. There is no better way to see what we do than to come to an Open House, schedule a campus tour, or attend one of our community events. Our doors are open, and we look forward to welcoming you soon.
  12. When it opened its doors in 1962, for a handful of students, the French School of Kuala Lumpur was generously accommodated in the premises of the Alliance Francaise and no one could imagine then the rapid development that it would experience. Today, the Lycee Francais of Kuala Lumpur accommodates around 800 students from the Kindergarten to Terminale in premises that have undergone several changes. The mission of French schools abroad is to provide schooling for French children who move to Malaysia with their parents, but with the additional mission of enabling each child to achieve their full potential in a multi-cultural environment. Welcoming students of other nationalities and from other cultural origins, be they children from the host country or children of another nationality, is an undeniable asset for all students at our school. The Lycee Henri Fauconnier has been affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) since 1990 and as such benefits from the expertise of educational professionals, who guarantee the quality of the education provided. The network of French schools abroad contracted to or in partnership with the AEFE, is unique in the world, as it enables each student to benefit from an education conforming rigorously to the curricula and spirit of the French educational system, as well as to the republican values embodied by it. Our ambition is to prepare our students for the world of tomorrow so that they are better armed to face the challenges of the 21st century and become responsible and tolerant citizens. This objective is fully apparent in the cultural richness of the teaching offered to them. Taking each student’s individuality into consideration is an indisputable factor in their success, which is why a personalized pedagogic relationship is one of our teaching priorities, and the educational personnel is ready to provide help and confidence to the students to accompany them in their learning and schooling. Finally, the collaboration between families, the pedagogic team, and the school’s administration is a necessity to make our investment, in serving your children, all the more efficient.
  13. Our little school has grown. The high school moved into a new building in 2013 the elementary school renovation was finished in 2014, and modern facilities are available from pre-school to 12th grade. All these changes mean that the school offers its students optimal conditions for teaching and learning. Apart from the buildings, we also offer a French, English, and Arabic multilingual project that focuses on the progressive learning of several languages and their cultures from the last year of pre-school. This ambitious project created meticulously in 2013 and launched at the start of the 2014 academic year is now proving successful at the start of the 2015 year. Knowledge of foreign languages opens doors around the world, allows us to understand others and their differences, and adapt to diversity. It is also a valuable asset for studies and future careers. The future of the young people in our care is what drives our projects and our actions. A future based on universal human values, a future of solidarity, an environmentally conscious future, a future to be reinvented through innovation and commitment, because this is the 21st century. This is our children’s century. Albert Camus said, "Real generosity towards the future consists of giving everything to the present." So we give, we give everything, we give our young people the tools to develop their analytical thinking, a critical mind, a sense of initiative, inventiveness, and citizenship. Prepared in this way, our students ultimately stand out as budding ambassadors. They stand out at the meeting of High School Student Council delegates of all the French high schools worldwide, at the award of Major Excellency Scholarships, and finally when the results of the baccalaureate reveal a 100% pass rate, 86% of which are distinctions. With a French baccalaureate under their belts, which serves as an international passport and is recognized throughout the world, our students are all accepted into the country and course of their choice – in France, of course, but also in England, Germany, Belgium, the United States, Canada, and Lebanon, among others. We are pleased to welcome young people from twenty different nationalities who will remain in contact through the alumni association network of French schools worldwide. We are proud of our joint achievements and confident about the future we plan together. The LFA is a rapidly changing school and is putting all of its energy into updating the school development plan and projects.
