In other words, – social workers. It is our view that such a discipline of higher education, one that touches all areas of personal and social life, and helps to create better-living conditions for everybody, could be the basis for the development of higher education as a whole, giving it the dual dimensions of social responsibility and humanity. The Russian State Social University was founded for social benefit to promote education and knowledge and provide an institution open to all, irrespective of race, creed, or political belief. Combining the pursuit of economic objectives with consideration for social and environmental factors is a priority at RSSU. Our strategy for social responsibility includes a commitment to pursue change across the following priority areas: Human rights Fair working conditions Occupational health and safety Qualification Equal opportunities Freedom of Expression Environment We aim to create conditions under which students and staff will develop their knowledge, skills, and experience to engage with and contribute effectively to tackling global challenges. 10. Presidential Decree founded the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) on September 20, 2010. This foundation involved the merger of two previously existing academies: The Academy of National Economy (ANE), which was established in 1977, and the Russian Academy of Public Administration (RAPA), established in 1991. The merger also brought together 12 other state educational institutions. Each of the merged academies had already earned reputations as leaders in training Russia's political elite. From its creation in 1977, ANE prided itself as a breeding ground for future ministers. With the fall of the Soviet Union, ANE changed its strategic model from training members of the 'Nomenclatura' to providing high-quality business education for a new generation of leaders by becoming an institute of higher education wide array of academic opportunities in management. Likewise, RAPA has traditionally been a national leader in providing public management training for current and future state and municipal civil servants. Over the years, RANEPA has developed many unique programs to train civil servants for Russia's federal and regional authorities. Russian civil servants have received their training at RANEPA, receiving first undergraduate degrees and later attending graduate and short-term programs. RANEPA was one of the first institutions to introduce the МРА (Master of Public Administration) program in Russia to meet the public sector's needs and develop personnel's talent and capacity. RANEPA dominates the field of professional education for top-level managers at Russian enterprises. RANEPA was a pioneer in the domestic MBA program market and was the first in Russia to receive international accreditation for its MBA program. Unlike the usually fixed format teaching, followed by most Egyptian universities, the credit hour system enables the student to select several courses from a well planned academic program. ERU, concerned with society's welfare, has kept the tuition fees to very reasonable levels, convenient to many families in the region. Tuition fees at ERU might be the lowest compared to those at other private universities in the area. Besides, ERU provides scholarships for the highest performing students. ERU has been established in cooperation with seven of the best Russian institutions as patrons and partners. They guarantee a high standard of academic programs at ERU. Besides, they provide ERU students with the opportunity to do summer training and study for one or more semesters in Russia. Currently, the engineering faculty offers four programs: Architecture Engineering, Construction Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, and Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering. Three more programs have already been approved and will be introduced shortly: Renewable Energy Engineering, Heavy Equipment Engineering, and Nuclear Power Stations Engineering. Each student is assigned an academic advisor who guides him in planning his study program, monitors his progress, and helps solve any problems that may be encountered. The system encourages the students to develop independent thinking, gives them enough time to widen their scope of interest, and trains them to search for information through the library and other learning facilities. A student is permitted to repeat a course in which a low grade was obtained to improve the overall average. View full university
  23. RSSU was founded in 1991 to continue the core of the research and teaching activities of the former Higher School of the Communist Party. Initially, research and teaching focused on the Social and Political Sciences. Gradually, University activities extended into project work on social policy for State Institutions and the education and support of acting administrators. It also became the leading institution for developing and drafting social reforms. RSSU was the first University in Russia to offer undergraduate and graduate programs in Social Work, Social Youth Work, Social Insurance, Social Gerontology, and Social Support for the Disabled. Since starting these programs, more than 400 000 social workers have graduated from the University. Today RSSU has become a modern university with 14 faculties and more than 20 campuses in the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, Belorussia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and the representative office in Cuba, at the University of Guantanamo. At RSSU, we understand social education in a broader sense as the combination of degree programs for managers, state civil servants, social workers, sociologists, anthropologists, etcetera, id est all those degree programs the graduates of which work for the improvement of society and the needs of each individual. We aim to produce graduates fully equipped to achieve the highest personal and professional standards. Our strategies include encouraging sustainability and social responsibility in program and course development and delivering learning and teaching leadership education for active citizenship. The RSSU has excellent achievements in research activities and the development of doctoral and postdoctoral research in Social Sciences, Political Science, Humanities, and others. The significant role in these achievements has RSSU participation in implementing the Russian Academy of Sciences decisions to strengthen collaboration between the academic science and the scientific and pedagogical community of universities. The university's scientific and pedagogical partnership with national and international academic institutions has granted new opportunities for the improvement of research quality, implementation of scientific achievements in the educational process.
  24. Russian State University for the Humanities grew out of Moscow State Institute for History and Archives. Its official birthday is 27 March 1991. The first round of admissions into RSUH took place in 1991. Despite its comparatively young age, RSUH has come to be one of the best among the country's most respected universities, has emerged as of the leading educational and research centers in Russia. Our University was the first to combine the words "Russian" and "humanities" in its name. We are proud and honored to bear this title, ever striving to affirm our status further. The progress we have made is recognized both within the country and abroad. In all the past years, RSUH has been one of the most sought-after institutions among prospective students. And we feel obliged not just to preserve but also to develop and enrich the legacy we enter the third decade of our history. University educational principles: The European two-level educational system (B.A. – M.A.) noticeably increases the number of training types and offers a possibility to study and work abroad. Integration of research and education allows students to develop research skills and acquire the necessary set of competencies. The unified educational complex represents sustainability and interdisciplinarity as opposed to a series of specialized non-related programs. A practice-oriented approach to educational tracks is based upon a carefully created combination of fundamental theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills. The educational environment is conducive to learning and is based on freedom of creative and professional self-actualization and the principles of mutual tolerance. A student-oriented educational system allows tapping into the individual abilities of the students. The University has an active tutor system. The life-long learning concept views education as a continuing and uninterrupted process. RSUH offers preparatory training for prospective students, continuing education programs as well as graduate and postgraduate tracks. The programs operate both in Moscow and in the regions. The principle of "educating through art" has created a unique training environment – teaching in museums and exhibition halls. RSUH's mission is to maintain and develop a leading scientific and educational institution in the humanities, social, and informational studies in Russia and beyond. RSUH strives to deliver its contribution to the processes of internationalization and humanitarisation of higher education and scholarship in Russia to perceive the functions of a socially-oriented institution promoting modern society's social and humanitarian values. We are targeting to raise the competitiveness of the Russian economy and further integrate our country into the global economy.
