  8. As the third Egyptian University, Ain Shams University was founded in July 1950 under the name of "Ibrahim Pasha University." It participated with the two earlier universities, "Cairo University" (Fua'd the 1st ) and "Alexandria University" (Farouk the 1st), in fulfilling the message of universities and meeting the increasing demand of youth for higher education. When it was first established, Ain Shams University comprised several distinguished faculties and academic institutes, which were later developed into University. After the revolution of the 23 rd of July 1952, it was suggested that Egyptian universities be given names that were strongly linked with the roots and historical landmarks of the country. Thus on 21 st of February 1954, the name of the University was changed to "Heliopolis," and then changed in the same year to its present name "Ain Shams," the Arabic for "Heliopolis," or "On," which was the oldest University in history. "On" University was established about 5000 years ago, and it had a wide fame as a center of knowledge and learning, especially in astronomy, engineering, and medicine. Perhaps a perfect example of "On" teachers' knowledge and skill is Imhotep, the chief priest, minister, and architect. They, in 2700 B.C., designed the first large structure of stone known in history, Zoser's Step Pyramid in Sakkara. Westcar Papyrus also states that the founder of the Fifth Dynasty was the Rector of "On" University before ascending the throne. However, the most important achievement of "On" University was the call for worshipping a single deity, the solar disk of Aton, at the hands of Akhenaton, who was influenced by the ideas of "On" priests. The University is now located in the Zaafaran Palace area, built during the regime of Khedive Ismail. The Palace was so named because the area surrounding it was famous for saffron (in Arabic Zaafaran) plantations. The Palace was used to host the Egyptian University administration offices when it was established in 1925. It was used by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (as a guest house) for accommodating important visitors. The Palace also witnessed the signing of the 1936 Treaty between Egypt and Great Britain. Finally, in 1952, it came to be used as the administrative headquarters of Ain Shams University. Being a major scientific and cultural institution, Ain Shams University is fully aware of these challenges. It is confident that it has - with other Egyptian Universities - a problematic challenging responsibility for creating the generation. In 1973 the faculty of Al-Alsun was made the tenth member in the University. However, the history of this faculty dates back to 1835. In 1994, a decree was issued to establish two more faculties, the faculty of Pharmacy and the faculty of Dentistry; the actual study was started the following year in both faculties. In the same year, it was decided to establish the faculty of Computers and Information Sciences, and the study started the following year. The last faculty to join the University is the faculty of Specific Education, in 1998. Faculty of Nursing was established in 1980, and the Institute of Childhood Postgraduates Studies was established in 1981. The establishment of the Institute of Environmental Research and Studies was in 1982. Ain Shams University comprises seven campuses, all of which are situated in Great Cairo. The university administration, faculties of Arts, Law, and Science are all located on the main campus, El-khalifa El Mamoon Street, Abbasi. The faculties of Commerce, Al-Alsun (languages), Pharmacy, Dentistry, Computer and Information Sciences, Institute of Postgraduate Childhood and Institute of Environmental Studies and Research, and the specialized Hospital are located on the second campus on the other side of the street above. Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Nursing and the university hospitals are located on another campus at Abassia. Faculties of Engineering, Specific Education, Education, Women, and Agriculture are located on a separate campus in Abbasi, Heliopolis, and Shoubra El-Kheema. Our mission is to Integrate a culture of total quality and continuous improvement in the educational process and research. Enrich the theoretical knowledge and applied the following ethical standards, social and cultural life of society. Spreading the culture and ethics of scientific research. Strengthen cooperation between the University and other universities, scientific research centers locally, regionally, and globally. Development of educational programs in light of the standards of local, regional, and global levels. Strengthening continuing education and distance education. Activating the centers and units of an unusual nature to provide research and advisory services to the community. View full university

The University of Jordan is celebrating its Golden Jubilee amid ever-growing global challenges to higher education. Over the past 50 years, the University has made great strides in becoming Jordan's leading and most comprehensive University that has provided successive generations with a solid education. That has contributed fundamentally to the making of modern Jordan. Much has been accomplished, and much is currently being done. There remains, however, much more to be done and ample space for improvement. The challenges of the times and the needs of a knowledge-based society make it imperative that the University charts new strategies for meeting the challenges and gaining global recognition. Excellence in education has been and will remain a priority for the University. However, there is a need to streamline academic programs in a manner that guarantees continued excellence while simultaneously meeting the demands of the rapidly-changing domestic, regional, and global job markets. The University will continue adapting to the internationally accepted best practices, and its faculty members will be encouraged to adopt blended-learning approaches. It will also vigorously seek to prepare its students for entrepreneurial careers by spreading entrepreneurship culture through integrating entrepreneurship education into curricula campus-wide. The University will focus on developing research capacity to meet domestic, regional, and global challenges. Providing a conducive research environment that promotes world-class scholarly activities is a high priority. The University's quest for global recognition necessitates establishing and nurturing Centers of Excellence that maintain a balance of basic and applied research and promote industry-oriented applied research and commercialization of research and development. Encouraging and supporting Business Incubators on- and off-campus will be high on the University's agenda. Faculty members will be encouraged to get involved and take initiatives in this regard. The University will also focus on transforming its students, faculty, and staff into global citizens capable of engaging not only each other but also people and cultures worldwide. We will seek to enhance campus diversity and further internationalize the student and faculty bodies. We envision the University as an intellectual and cultural melting pot that reflects positively on the values, lives, and careers of those affiliated with it. Students and faculty alike will be encouraged to contribute to University policy-making rather than be on the receiving end. With the University's internationalization initiatives, the dedication and hard work of its academic and administrative staff, and its students' excellence and creativity, the University will continue to lead the society and be Jordan's laboratory for innovation cradle of science and culture. They will pursue initiatives that will propel it towards joining the world-renowned universities' league in the not-so-distant future. View full university
  10. The Munich School of Philosophy follows the long educational tradition of the Jesuits, which has been valued worldwide for over 400 years for the quality of its schools and universities. Founded in 1925 with the name Berchman College in Pullach at the gates of Munich – initially as a training center for new members of the order – the college's move to the Munich university quarter center in 1971 was much more than just a change of location. It also brought state recognition of all qualifications and the university's opening to all students interested in a systematic education in philosophy. You can study philosophy to learn to think. This is not to say that you will learn to think "the right way" in your philosophy course. Instead, it refers to the challenge of getting to grips with your understanding of the world and values, comparing it with others, and finally articulating and discussing it. Philosophy attempts to find answers to hundreds of years old questions but still just as relevant today. One of the reasons for this is that such questions relate to the fundamentals of human existence and thinking. Each branch of philosophy examines a different facet. Munich is known as a center of education and research in Germany. Moreover, Munich stands out due to its extensive selection of museums and cultural institutions. The Bavarian Alps can be reached easily from Munich and provide an excellent selection of recreational opportunities. Different philosophical movements, perspectives, and methodological approaches have always been represented at the Munich School of Philosophy. This diversity is "state of the art" in philosophy and enables topical exchange between the different disciplines. This is precisely why we place a high value on a broad primary education, which – unlike at other universities, aims to cover the entire spectrum of philosophy. Whether studying for their Bachelor degree or their Ph.D., students generally need to have examined the following subjects: In the Federal Republic of Germany, the right to hold the academic qualifications Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, Magister Artium, Dr. Phil. and Dr. Phil. habil. It is obtained by passing the relevant examination following the university's rules in agreement with the Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Science, and the Arts. All of these qualifications have the same significance as those awarded by the state universities. The Munich School of Philosophy is officially recognized as a non-state, academic university in the sense of Art. 76–85 BayHSchG (Bavarian University and College Act). Under the decrees of Sacra Congregation pro Institutione Catholica, Rome, of 7 June and 28 October 1971, as well as the approval of the Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Science and the Arts by notice from 24 September 1971 and 17 November 1972, the Munich School of Philosophy is open to all students with higher education entrance qualification and can award the students with Baccalaureate in Philosophy and the academic qualifications Magister Artium in Philosophy (corresponds to the ecclesiastical licentiate) and Dr. Phil. according to the relevant requirements. On 24 July 1990, the Bavarian State Parliament awarded the Munich School of Philosophy the right to confer post-doctorates. On 24 July 2009, the Munich School of Philosophy's recognition by the Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Science and the Arts was changed to the effect that the Bachelor of Arts can also be conferred as an academic degree in the future. Since 19 June 2012, the Munich School of Philosophy can also award the title Master of Arts. With this, the Baccalaureate and Magister programs are being phased out. The state-recognized and canonical programs of study Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Master of Arts in Philosophy (consecutive) were accredited for the first time by the accreditation agency AKAST until 30 September 2019. The state-recognized postgraduate study course Master of Arts in Ethics was accredited for the first time until 30 September 2019 by the accreditation agency ACQUIN. As one of Europe's leading research universities, LMU looks back on 500 years of tradition and forward to the challenges and responsibilities ahead. Its excellence in teaching and research embraces a wide diversity of fields—from the humanities and cultural studies through law, economics, and social sciences to medicine and natural sciences. An intense interdisciplinary approach fosters the innovation so critical to our global future. LMU's faculty—whether they are early-career professors or internationally renowned prize-winners—form the foundation of the University's distinguished record in research. Their expertise, dedication, and creativity underpin the University's success in the Germany-wide Excellence Initiative, a competition in which LMU has won the enormous grant support awarded to a single institution. These resources are being used to enhance our shared pursuit of knowledge, a continually evolving process. LMU is home to students from all parts of Germany and more than 130 countries around the globe. They benefit from the University's uniquely comprehensive array of study programs and its strong focus on research. At all stages of academic training, we emphasize the links between research and course content. Our students view their studies as a springboard to a rewarding career, not least because Munich is one of Germany's foremost centers for technology and the media. Academic diversity thrives in an environment that encompasses social skills alongside a critical awareness of values and history. This includes the Munich legacy of the Weisse Rose, the student-based resistance group that opposed Nazism. When you come to LMU, you join a community dedicated to making the most of their talents, curiosity, and opportunities. I am both honored and humbled to be part of this community. LMU Munich has a classical academic profile ranging from the humanities and cultural sciences, law, economics, and social sciences to medicine and natural sciences. The University is divided into 18 faculties and enjoys one of Germany's most adequate library systems. Creative thinking, problem-solving, and research are central to LMU's academic programs. With 2,300 beds, its Medical Center is, next to the Charité in Berlin, the most prestigious and largest institution in Germany. LMU Munich enjoys an excellent library system. Faculty and students also have access to the Bavarian State Library, the Technische Universität München Library, other local and state LMU partner libraries, and the German university interlibrary loan network. The University's library system consists of the Main University Library and more than 130 decentralized libraries hosted by the individual faculties. Its total stock amounts to about 6.5 million volumes. The vast majority of the library system's holdings are listed in the online catalog accessible on the Internet. Whereas the holdings of the decentralized libraries are generally not available for lending, the Main Library houses lending stocks totaling 2.4 million volumes. These include the valuable old inventory of over 3,000 manuscripts and approximately 400,000 old prints up to the publication year 1900, the second-largest in Bavaria's Free State. Students and researchers at LMU Munich also have access to libraries at other universities and institutes of higher education in Munich and partner libraries and the special libraries our University maintains. Since the founding of LMU Munich, the University Archives has preserved archival material from the Board of University Representatives, Rectorate, faculties, and institutes and maintains its impressive University and faculty history library. It is open during select hours for academic research. Researchers are requested to contact the Archive in advance. Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München is a public corporation with the right of self-governance within the law's confines. At the same time, it is a state entity divided into a central administration and 18 faculties. The University Executive Board is composed of six members: the president and five vice presidents. The University Executive Board consults with its main advisory board, the University Council, comprised of the University's members and high-ranking and experienced representatives from the private sector, the professional world, and other academic branches. The University Governing Board consists of the Executive Board members, the deans, and the women's representative of the University. To develop competitive procedures adapted to the logic and specific performance of the different subject groups, a system of consultative committees was introduced, the functions of which are defined in LMU Munich's Basic Statutes. The faculties themselves house various academic bodies such as departments and institutes, as well as managing units. In order to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, members of these academic bodies can merge to form cross-disciplinary centers. View full university
  12. This year, the Faculty of Nursing Science Alumni meet to meet new graduates, enter into discussions, and continue discourses. With the Autumn Academy 2017, we are calling for a topic that is important for nursing science and nursing policy. Despite temporary signs of fatigue in the political and legislative discourse, the newly adopted Nursing Care Reform Act and its consequences will be our topic. The law and the related disputes in the legislative process leave traces and point to necessary reform processes in school and practice. We want to track down and discuss these with the expertise of alumni. Keynote speeches from a professional policy, nursing didactic, and international perspective offers this position and occasion. The topics of current research projects within the framework of master theses and dissertations are the subject of a science workshop. After being selected through a peer review, students have the opportunity to present the topic they are currently working on and discuss it with the alumni - a win-win situation for both sides. After plenty of time for meetings and exchanges, the Herbstakademie ends up in this year's Faculty Festival of the Faculty of Nursing Science. Welcome to Vallendar! Scientific training, human interaction, and Christian spirituality are the theological faculty of the Philosophical-Theological College Vallendar (PTHV). One of our small but well-equipped faculty strengths is that professors easily meet students and collaborate on learning processes. The students are individually accompanied in their scientific, spiritual, and personal development by proven scientists. The university creates space for innovative research, teaching, and studying. At the end of December 2017 (duration of the project until December 2020), the project "Innovations for the promotion of quality of care with a varying number of skilled workers (InQuaFa)" of Bethesda-St. Martin non-profit GmbH from Boppard. The project is supervised by Prof. Dr. med. Albert Brühl, Chair of Statistics and Standardized Procedures at the Nursing Faculty of the Philosophical-Theological College Vallendar (PTHV). Involved is also Prof. Dr. med. Katarina Planner from Esslingen University. The project is funded by the Ministry of Social Affairs, Labor, Health, and Demography of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate. The Bethesda St. Martin gemeinnützige GmbH ensures the residual financing of the project over its funds. The project aims to investigate the relationship between the differentiation of the need for care, the quality of care achieved, and nurses' provision. Here, an attempt is made to represent the influence of differently qualified nurses on care quality. The project is also about gaining insights into addressing the existing and, in the future, ever-worsening skills shortage. Based on these two days, the relationships between the equipment with nursing staff, the differentiation of different people in need of care, and possible levels are analyzed on which is maintained. The analyzes are used to derive interventions that help maintain the quality of care. These interventions will be implemented in the second year of the project. In the third year of the project, it is examined to what extent there have been meaningful changes in nurses' use. As a result, indications are provided as to where the use of nursing staff affects the quality of care and how this can be ensured. The BMBF project group "Game-Based Learning in Nursing" (GaBaLearn) is working on the development and Testing of computer-based learning games, which can be used for complex nursing casework in the context of nursing education. The aim is to create the opportunity to test and practice occupationally relevant competencies in simulated, digitized work environments simulated in practice. Digital nursing simulations are being developed that give learners in nursing the opportunity to exercise their decision-making skills in complex care situations (e.g., dealing with people with dementia) without endangering the people in need of care or themselves. The development, testing, and evaluation of these learning games occur in nursing education's real learning contexts. The project is aimed at the broad field of nursing education (care of the elderly, health and nursing, health care, and pediatric nursing) and is being tested using. View full university
  13. The Dominican School of Philosophy & Theology, a member of the Graduate Theological Union, is a community of scholars committed to the pursuit of truth as revealed in the Gospel and discovered by human reason. Inspired by the Dominican practice of disciplined inquiry and learned preaching, the School draws its students into the rich tradition of classical philosophy and Catholic theology, especially as exemplified by St. Thomas Aquinas. From this tradition, it engages contemporary scholarship and culture in mutual enrichment. As a Center of Studies of the Order of Preachers and an apostolate of the Western Dominican Province, the School is committed to preparing women and men for academic and apostolic vocations. Motivated by a thirst for truth, the disciplined inquirer is a life-long learner who recognizes fundamental principles in a given field of inquiry and applies them in creative or innovative ways to broader contemporary issues that are of importance to the Church, the academy, and society. A collaborative leader inspires within others the desire to realize the common good by articulating to academy or society a coherent vision rooted in the Church's mission, all the while leading by example. We believe that the most robust knowledge can be found when human reason, respected in its own right, is guided by the light of faith. Our Faculty value the necessary and fruitful partnership between philosophy and theology, creating a communal learning environment suffused with this interdisciplinary approach. This is why students come to DSPT. Since the 13th century, Dominican educational centers have incorporated the works of ancient Greek philosophers, of Muslim and Jewish scholars, and many contemporary philosophers and theologians. Remaining rooted in this tradition, our students and professors engage in conversations inside and outside of the classroom, exploring various ideologies and concerns of contemporary culture. Following the Dominican Order's long-standing interest in the fine arts, DSPT further encourages these interdisciplinary conversations through Blackfriars Gallery. Using the resources of the Blackfriars Institute for Religion and the Arts, exhibitions bring the tradition of art into conversation with academic disciplines such as aesthetics, sacred arts, liturgical studies, and Catholic culture. DSPT is engaged in a rare dialogue with ancient, medieval, modern wisdom, seeking to renew the relationship between philosophy and theology to transform the contemporary world. As a historic Dominican institution, we aim to convert hearts and minds by preaching the truth discovered by human reason and revealed in the Gospel. We are a community of scholars committed to studying both philosophy and theology, which we view as complementary forms of knowledge, as did our exemplars, St. Albert the Great and St. Thomas Aquinas. In our Dominican tradition, philosophy is a necessary pursuit that allows us to understand God's revelation's intelligibility. Since the 13th century, the Dominican order has equipped Catholics to engage the vast Western philosophical tradition, which illumines theology's practice. Thus, unlike most graduate schools, DSPT integrates our departments of philosophy and theology, encouraging faculty and students to engage both disciplines as part of a single conversation, attentive to the fullest range of truth. As our students become masters of each discipline, they develop the ability to think and reason from "first principles," which allows them to engage contemporary thought charitably and critically. Our search for wisdom is driven by a singular conviction: that the truth can be known, and that pursuit of the truth is the highest human vocation, a vocation in which we become our fully ourselves. In cooperation with the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), DSPT offers a semester of study in Rome for students in the DSPT Master of Arts (Theology) program and the concurrent MA study option. To qualify for this opportunity, students must have completed at least 24-semester units of coursework in the MA (Theology) program at the Berkeley campus. Because of the time involved in procuring necessary documentation, interested students should begin the application process one year before the study's anticipated time. No application will be considered less than six months before the start of the proposed semester abroad. Students in any DSPT MA program may petition to study at Dominican University College (Ottawa) as an Official Visiting Student. Because preference will be given to those applying for the full academic year, this program is best suited for those in the concurrent MAPh/MATh [or GTU MA] option. Official Visiting Students will be responsible for paying all applicable tuition fees and other charges at the host institution where they are registered in a program of study. The MA Philosophy degree program offers a rich background in classical, medieval, modern, and contemporary philosophy, emphasizing the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas. Our MA Philosophy program's approach is historical and systematic, aiming to understand Aquinas in context and how the tradition has interpreted and handed down his thought. An MA in Philosophy from DSPT equips students to master the Western philosophical tradition and bring philosophical thought into fruitful dialogue with theology. Following the scholastic tradition, our MA Philosophy program is designed to deepen and expand one's knowledge of philosophy's perennial issues. Following St. Thomas, this means seeking to understand the truth in all its forms and examining the ordered relationships between faith and reason, old and new, Gospel, and culture. The academic search is not merely a study of ancient texts and issues but also translates into contemporary contexts. DSPT offers a concurrent study option in MA Philosophy and MA Theology (Concurrent MA Option), where qualified students focus their study and research in a particular manner on those dynamic cross-sections between philosophy and theology. For the lay scholar, the Concurrent MA Option makes available the comprehensive breadth of Dominican education.

  16. In November of 2001, a small group of Christians met in Chino, California, to consider establishing a Reformed Christian college on the West Coast. Parents and young people were often hesitant to travel great distances to the nearest Reformed college. Moreover, the West Coast had many students who would benefit from a specifically Reformed perspective in their college education. At Providence, we believe that an institution is most successful if its vision is stated clearly and integrated consciously into every aspect of community life. The principles that guide Providence are adherence to the teachings of Scripture, Christ-centeredness in both doctrine and practice, and faithful service in extending the Kingdom of God into every area of life. These principles are woven throughout the Providence experience, from school mission statement to syllabus. The name given to Providence Christian College speaks boldly of God's excellent provision in the past and our trust in His goodness to provide for this college's future. God's Word, "providence," means that our sovereign God controls, upholds, and rules everything so that nothing happens to us by chance. As one of our Reformed confessions states, as a result of God's Providence, "we can be patient when things go against us, thankful when things go well, and for the future, we can have good confidence in our faithful God and Father that nothing will separate us from His love" (Heidelberg Catechism, Lord's Day 10). Our name also demands that we remember His sovereign care every day in the future. Whenever we stop trusting His Providence, we will fail. Whenever we begin trusting in ourselves, we will fall. It is our prayer that Providence Christian College, and all those associated with it, will always promote its name, trusting in the compassionate care of our Heavenly Father. The eye-catching centerpiece to Providence's campus is McGavran Hall, named for India's famous Christian missionary, who was a significant influence on modern missions, Donald A. McGavran. Providence classrooms fill the second floor of this impressive three-story structure, recently remodeled and upgraded with newly installed wireless internet. Students enjoy a clean and functional learning environment, complete with wall-sized windows looking out on the campus with mountains in the background. As the Academic Resource Center (ARC) is located down the hall from the classrooms, academic help and a quiet study area are just a short walk away. Open until midnight, and the ARC is the place for late-night study groups and a workspace away from distractions. Pierce Hall is the most versatile and widely-used facility on campus. It is centrally located immediately to the north of Speer Hall. The upper floor houses the cafeteria, which is complete with outdoor balcony seating. Students share meals with Providence staff and faculty, along with the extended community of the campus's other residents and organizations. The Latourette Library stands tall at the north end of the campus. One large room of the second floor houses Providence's book collection and research materials. 19. In 1938 in Belmar, New Jersey, Dr. Percy Crawford founded The King’s College to provide a challenging liberal arts education, a deep, meaningful understanding of biblical faith and prepare students to take their education and understanding into the world and its strategic institutions. The King’s College stands firmly rooted in the grand tradition of the animating ideals of Western Civilization, and yet fully engaged in the debates regarding the future of our society. For more than 75 years, the College has produced graduates who lead and bring real change to the strategic public and private institutions worldwide. Through its commitment to the truths of Christianity and a biblical worldview, The King’s College seeks to transform society by preparing students for careers in which they help to shape and eventually to lead strategic public and private institutions, and by supporting faculty members as they directly engage culture through writing and speaking publicly on critical issues. We educate young leaders to seamlessly integrate their faith, ethics, and morality into their lives and careers. Students are immersed in challenging academic and spiritual study that demands thinking, communicating, and problem-solving with the mind, heart, and soul. We require engagement with complex ideas to guide society's strategic institutions — government, commerce, law, media, civil society, education, the arts, and the Church. We participate in a demanding curriculum and present unique opportunities to students in the heart of New York City. We are not a college for the timid soul — we value bravery, commitment, and action. One of the great strengths of The King’s College education is the interdisciplinary nature of the curriculum. Students explore a wide range of ideas and topics, but most importantly, they study the relationships between ideas, generating interest in and recognizing the value of multiple disciplines. Our fifteen minors support each major of study so that students graduate with an impressive, agile intellect and a dependable ability to influence our culture.

  21. In the Federal Republic of Germany, the right to hold the academic qualifications Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, Magister Artium, Dr. Phil. and Dr. Phil. habil. 22. Marktkirchengemeinde in Neuwied Senior center Bethesda in Höhr-Grenzhausen Support and meeting center Haus im Rebenhang in Winningen. In a first project step, criteria are defined, collected in a first data collection on two working days within the four-member institutions.
