Participation in extramural activities. Fostering of religious principles. Interacting with and serving our community. To transform learners into proud & responsible citizens. The school has a well-functioning computer Laboratory. We offer basic computer classes to Grade R – 9. Learners are offered computer Literacy for exposure to Information Technology Environment. Computer Literacy will not be formally accessed and therefore will not appear in learners’ reports. Often educational tours use multimedia to visually grab attention and encourage students to partake in an enjoyable learning experience. However, in the classroom, these exposed sensors may be limited. Students are more likely to enjoy and learn from a history class located in the center of where it all began, than in the classroom. If you’re a teacher that struggles to grab your student’s attention from time to time, school tours and field trips are sure to spark excitement to learn. Reinforcing the course material and allowing the lesson to come to life, allows them to visualize, experience, and discuss the information, allowing students to recall the experience long after the trip. Taking the students out of the classroom and into a new environment allows them to work as a team with other classmates outside of their normal group. Not only that, but they make lifelong memories among peers, which is no doubt a fun learning experience in itself View full school

      5. The 12-member Corporation is the body that has the ultimate authority to exercise control over ownership of property, to promulgate and amend the by-laws, to accept or reject the recommendation for election to the Presidency of the College by the Board of Trustees, and to elect members of the Corporation and the Board of Trustees. The Corporation is comprised of four ex officio members and eight other individuals elected by the Corporation, four Dominican friars, and four laypersons. The ex officio members are the provincial of the Province of St. Joseph, the elected leader of the Dominican Order for the eastern region of the United States, the Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Providence, the president of the College, the executive vice president/treasurer and the chair of the Board of Trustees. The terms of office of the Bishop, the president, the provincial, and the chair of the Board of Trustees are co-terminus with the respective incumbency. The term of all other members is three years. The College president is the chief executive of the institution. The President's Cabinet, consisting of the president, executive vice president/treasurer, and six vice presidents, is the primary organizational vehicle by which the College is administered. The Cabinet typically meets weekly to discuss major administrative issues and make policy decisions. Responsibility for implementing Cabinet decisions rests with the appropriate vice president and the College president. Providence College is a Catholic, Dominican, liberal arts institution of higher education and a community committed to academic excellence in pursuit of the truth, growth in virtue, and God and neighbor's service. Providence College is confident in the appeal of reason, believes that human beings are disposed to know the truth, and trusts in the power of grace to enlighten minds, open hearts, and transform lives. Providence College maintains that the pursuit of truth has intrinsic value, that faith and reason are compatible and complementary means to its discovery, and that the search for truth is the basis for dialogue with others and critical engagement with the world. Providence College is committed to academic excellence and holds itself to the highest teaching, learning, and scholarship standards. Its core curriculum addresses critical questions of human existence, including life's meaning and purpose. It stresses the importance of moral and ethical reasoning, aesthetic appreciation, and understanding the natural world, other cultures, and diverse traditions. Providence College honors academic freedom, promotes critical thinking and engaged learning, and encourages a pedagogy of disputed questions. Providence College seeks to reflect the rich diversity of the human family. Following the example of St. Dominic, who extended a loving embrace to all, it welcomes qualified men and women of every background. It affirms the God-given dignity, freedom, and equality of each person. Providence College promotes the common good, the human flourishing of each member of the campus community, and neighbors' service near and far. Providence College brings the eight-hundred-year-old Dominican ideal of veritas to the issues and challenges of today. It seeks to share the fruits of contemplation in an increasingly global and diverse society and praise and bless all that is good and vital in human endeavors. Providence College supports the Dominican mission of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to a new generation of students and helping them discover God's providence in their lives. Providence College was founded in 1917 through a joint effort of the Diocese of Providence and the Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Joseph, with the blessing of Pope Benedict XV and the consent of the General Assembly of the State of Rhode Island. The driving force behind the development of the College was the late Rt. Rev. Matthew Harkins, D. D., Bishop of Providence, whose dream it was to create a center of advanced learning primarily for the Catholic youth of Rhode Island. However, the College's charter demonstrates that the founders intended PC to serve members of all religious faiths as it reads: "no person shall be refused admission . . . nor shall any person be denied any of the privileges, honors, or degrees in said college on account of the religious opinion he may entertain." Bishop Harkins' negotiations with the Dominicans of the Province of St. Joseph and his gifts of approximately 17 acres of land and $10,000 in scholarship funds helped make Providence College a reality. With donations coming primarily from Catholics of modest means, and a pledge from the Province of St. Joseph to provide Dominican administrators and teachers, the College broke ground for the imposing Harkins Hall in 1917. Two years later, in September 1919, it opened its doors to 71 students and nine Dominican faculty members. The Office of the Dean of Students and the Director of Cultural Education guide Cultural Agility initiatives (Pillar III of the Friar Four) for the Division of Student Affairs. 6. In November of 2001, a small group of Christians met in Chino, California, to consider establishing a Reformed Christian college on the West Coast. Parents and young people were often hesitant to travel great distances to the nearest Reformed college. Moreover, the West Coast had many students who would benefit from a specifically Reformed perspective in their college education. At Providence, we believe that an institution is most successful if its vision is stated clearly and integrated consciously into every aspect of community life. The principles that guide Providence are adherence to the teachings of Scripture, Christ-centeredness in both doctrine and practice, and faithful service in extending the Kingdom of God into every area of life. These principles are woven throughout the Providence experience, from school mission statement to syllabus. The name given to Providence Christian College speaks boldly of God's excellent provision in the past and our trust in His goodness to provide for this college's future. God's Word, "providence," means that our sovereign God controls, upholds, and rules everything so that nothing happens to us by chance. As one of our Reformed confessions states, as a result of God's Providence, "we can be patient when things go against us, thankful when things go well, and for the future, we can have good confidence in our faithful God and Father that nothing will separate us from His love" (Heidelberg Catechism, Lord's Day 10). Our name also demands that we remember His sovereign care every day in the future. Whenever we stop trusting His Providence, we will fail. Whenever we begin trusting in ourselves, we will fall. It is our prayer that Providence Christian College, and all those associated with it, will always promote its name, trusting in the compassionate care of our Heavenly Father. The eye-catching centerpiece to Providence's campus is McGavran Hall, named for India's famous Christian missionary, who was a significant influence on modern missions, Donald A. McGavran. Providence classrooms fill the second floor of this impressive three-story structure, recently remodeled and upgraded with newly installed wireless internet. Students enjoy a clean and functional learning environment, complete with wall-sized windows looking out on the campus with mountains in the background. As the Academic Resource Center (ARC) is located down the hall from the classrooms, academic help and a quiet study area are just a short walk away. Open until midnight, and the ARC is the place for late-night study groups and a workspace away from distractions. Pierce Hall is the most versatile and widely-used facility on campus. It is centrally located immediately to the north of Speer Hall. The upper floor houses the cafeteria, which is complete with outdoor balcony seating. Students share meals with Providence staff and faculty, along with the extended community of the campus's other residents and organizations. The Latourette Library stands tall at the north end of the campus. One large room of the second floor houses Providence's book collection and research materials. Against the walls, there are several study carrels and computers for exclusive use by Providence students. In addition to Providence's library, students have access to William Carey's expansive third-floor collection of theological and mission-oriented materials for study. Located at the edge of the campus to the west of the Pierce building, the Gladys Aylward Hall provides residential space for over 300 people. Providence occupies the northern wing of the building with men on the first floor and women on the second. Rooms consist mainly of two-person rooms complete with beds, desks, and ample storage space. Each hall has a spacious, typical restroom. In addition to residences, Aylward provides a well-stocked weight room, several community rooms, community kitchen facilities, barbeque, and mail service. Located on the north edge of campus along Elizabeth Street, Townsend Hall provides additional residential space. It boasts a newly renovated quad style living and a spacious inner courtyard. Providence is committed to affordable education for all of its students, which is why we partner with you to make an educational investment in your future. Because of hundreds of generous donors, 100% of our students receive financial aid. Providence holds its total cost at an average of $7500 less than other Christian colleges in California, and last year 72% of our students received a renewable academic scholarship. In order to help our students achieve their academic and religious goals during their time at Providence, we have instituted several financial aid packages, including Grants, Scholarships, Loans, and Work-Study Programs. Also, we offer the Providence Promise Loan Repayment Assistance Program. This program is unique to Providence and ensures that our graduates can successfully follow God's plan for their future without worrying about student loan debt. Our financial aid advisor is on hand to help you with anything you need and our admissions counselors are happy to let you know what the next steps are in applying for financial aid. Providence academy combined school is committed to the development of all facets of the child, namely intellectual, emotional spiritual, and physical. Providence Academy is committed to an education whereby the child will be allowed to learn the necessary life skills which will enable him/her to succeed in a changing society, interaction between all stakeholders, community, teaching staff and learners will be encouraged. To accomplish our mission, we are committed to the appointment of the best available qualified staff that will be able to respect the diverse values, cultures, and norms within the school. At providence academy we are committed to: Quality education for all. The creation of academic culture. Developing each learner to his/her potential as to achieve his life calling. Not only that, but they make lifelong memories among peers, which is no doubt a fun learning experience in itself

We believe that students should be astute thinkers and persistent, creative problem solvers. We believe the school community should maximize individual potential by encouraging new endeavors and risk-taking without fear of failure. We believe that teachers are a significant influence on our students; therefore, we exercise great care in selecting faculty members. In addition to demonstrating excellence in their fields of instruction, they must love working with students. We believe that students should enjoy the right to express themselves in a way that shows respect for others and honors the school community's spirit. We believe that our students' success depends on a partnership that includes teachers, parents, administrators, support staff, grandparents, alumni, and friends. We encourage the extended school family to be active in each student's development. Parents should expect that their involvement will make a difference. We believe in developing within our students an ability to appreciate and value the differences among people in our school community and those in the larger world around us. We believe in the value of personal honesty as the foundation for students' preparation to become responsible citizens and leaders. We believe that the purpose of athletic activities is to promote physical vigor, teamwork, school spirit, sportsmanship, and a sense of personal accomplishment. We believe that non-athletic activities enable students to discover new talents, contribute to a group effort, gain self-confidence, and develop leadership skills. We believe that responsible and thoughtful management of the school's financial and human resources is essential to accomplishing our mission. We aim to attract curious learners who take an active role in their educational journey in the classrooms, on the fields and courts, in the labs, through travel, and on various stages. The United States was in its worst economic condition in history—the Great Depression. O'Hara, and the Sisters of Charity of Providence and the Ursuline Sisters worked together to create Great Falls Junior College.
