The Institute will offer a range of relevant and flexible learning opportunities within a professional and supportive learning environment, which are career-focused. Provide increased lifelong learning opportunities commensurate with the career requirements of those living in the region and with the developmental needs of business and industry. Promote equality of access and opportunity to widen participation and facilitate all learners in achieving their potential. Serve as a leader and center for the advancement of research, commercial innovation, and enterprise development within the region. Implement civic engagement initiatives to maximize the participation of, and increase opportunities for all citizens in the region's development. Cultivate a range of international activities and partnerships to advance the core activities and role of the Institute. The Institute of Technology, Tallaght. Our Institute is one of the leading higher education institutes in Ireland. It is accredited as a member of the European Credit Transfer Scheme for Higher Education Awards, and we have been awarded the Extended European Erasmus University Charter. Our qualifications are recognized world-wide and therefore provide opportunities for educational and career mobility on a global basis. The Institute is currently celebrating 20 years of service to the region. It was opened in 1992 as a European Demonstration College for Technological Education. In that time, the Institute has expanded from an initial cohort of seven hundred students to a current complement, full and part-time, of almost four thousand undergraduates and over 60 postgraduates. It has been an exciting period in which we have witnessed the revolution in ICT impact education to make institutions like our innovative adopters of technology for teaching and student support. We have seen the Celtic Tiger grow, mature, and latterly go into decline. However, every observer of Ireland's current economic situation knows that Ireland's future relies heavily on our continued production of high-quality graduates capable of undertaking life-long learning in a knowledge-based society. Now is the right time for you to invest in yourself by undertaking an education program, and we offer something for everyone. It is important not to lose sight of the emerging career opportunities and will continue to emerge as the global economy pulls itself out of recession. The Institute continues to be a leader in research in the sector, and we have recently officially opened our new research Centre for Applied Science and Health. We will continue to appraise national and international research opportunities that play to our strengths and that have the potential to benefit the region. The Institute has always prided itself on engaging with the community, and we have established a network of supports for schools and other organizations in our region. We have also received significant funding from the Strategic Innovation Fund to develop the teaching and learning environment within the Institute. Through these projects, we play a lead role in raising participation rates in Higher Education in the region. Last year the President's Volunteer Programme saw hundreds of our students engage with national and international voluntary organizations to help others in society at home and abroad. We have a multicultural campus that celebrates diversity. In last year we had over 70 different nationalities represented on campus. This is an essential aspect of your education as you will, upon graduation, most likely work in a multicultural environment where cultural mix is used as a strategic business advantage. By participating in the cultural events organized on campus and beyond, you are investing not only in your social development but also in your career development. The last twelve months have seen quite a few developments in the Institute. The business incubation center 'Synergy' attracts people with a wide range of ideas to expand their businesses. Any of you who feel that you are budding entrepreneurs should contact the Centre Manager Tom Rooney, who has a range of support for small businesses. We continue to pursue Technological University status with our partner institutes DIT and ITB. We believe we can offer an increased number of high-quality educational pathways for our students via this development. Thomas Stone, President, Institute of Technology, Tallaght, Dublin 24. In all, the Institute is a thriving, exciting place to learn and work, and it continues to grow from strength to strength. Fisher College

At Fisher College, we believe that college is more than just an education—it's a life-changing experience. For more than a century, Fisher has been changing lives by providing opportunities to students focused on the three most important aspects of a college experience: education, dedication, and life. Fisher is a four-year college located in Boston's historic Back Bay with locations in Brockton, New Bedford, and North Attleboro. The College provides affordable, real-world educations that prepare students to achieve their career goals and compete in today's challenging economy. Additionally, Fisher College is dedicated to the education of our military service members. Fisher College first opened its doors in 1903 in the predominantly working-class city of Somerville, Massachusetts, just two miles north of Boston. The school traces its roots to educational entrepreneurs Myron and Edmund Fisher, who believed the immigrants of that city in the early 1900s should have an opportunity to advance beyond unskilled labor jobs. In 1952, the Board of Regents of Higher Education of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts approved Fisher as a two-year college, and five years later it was given degree-granting powers. In 1970, Fisher gained accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and operates as an independent, non-profit educational institution, currently boasting a diverse population of students from all parts of America and many foreign countries. Fisher College improves lives by providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary for a lifetime of intellectual and professional pursuits. Fisher embraces student centered education that creates an independent graduate, who thinks critically and is prepared for the workplace. Fisher provides a unique learning environment, enhanced by experiential learning, through attentive, experienced and well-credentialed faculty. The Fisher experience motivates students to take ownership of their learning by preparing them to overcome challenges and pursue opportunities. Fisher celebrates an inclusive campus culture that values learning and diversity, bringing cultures and perspectives together in a dynamic arena. Fisher commits its entire community to supporting students and promoting intellectual curiosity and lifelong learning, through hands-on experiences in the workplace, and through a vibrant co-curricular experience. Fisher expects that its students adhere to the highest moral and ethical principles, and demonstrates the value of public service through research-based and service learning opportunities.

  5. The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) is a private Catholic higher education institution founded by the Lebanese Maronite Order (LMO) in 1938. From that moment, these monks, who had been entrusted with a teaching mission for more than three centuries, have undertaken the management of USEK. Their remit was to provide university teaching in conformity with the labor market requirements and close association with scientific research. Being a national institution, USEK has brought its teachings and curricula into line with the Lebanese state's official requirements, which acknowledges the diplomas it delivers. Furthermore, USEK remains careful in achieving a synthesis of tradition and modernism in the educational options it offers while remaining true to a Christian humanism, which is imprinted on the general education it provides. Due to the pressure to democratize higher education, the University is deploying necessary efforts to fight exclusion and abide by a non-elitist policy, albeit without making any concessions concerning education quality. The establishment of decentralized regional centers (in Zahle, Chekka, and Rmeich) thus springs out of the wish to implement the right to higher education. USEK has adapted well in light of soaring socioeconomic development and has created new vocational specializations to diversify its education and meet the needs of the labor market. Nowadays, USEK welcomes more than 8,000 students across its twelve faculties and three institutes, i.e., fifteen academic units, which offer a broad array of diversified high-level education. Studies in USEK are based on the modular system of units, which are accounted for on a half-year basis, or "credits." Also, the adoption of such a structure enables students to enjoy flexibility on all levels for the prospective degree courses' academic and financial management. It also enables the Promotion of students' mobility in Lebanon and abroad: Credits can be accumulated and transferred from one University to another. Personalization of the students' training: Each student's academic course is adapted to his(her) personal and vocational project. Flexible Organisation of the semester: Students are allowed the freedom to choose the number of credits (while abiding by the minimum and maximum numbers set by the University) and the courses taken during the semester (out of a group of courses that are required for a given curriculum), thus enabling them to ameliorate how they set their schedule. Development of close pedagogical support: The teachers' follow-up and support are reinforced by the fact that thanks to this system, education is centered on the students. The offer of diversified courses to students promotes a multidisciplinary approach and exchanges within and among disciplines. Facilitation reorientation: Thanks to the establishment of links among the various education courses proposed, students can easily change their curriculum without losing all their achievements. USEK cultivates a strong feeling of belonging among its students, thanks to its welcoming student life and the multiple services. Hence, outside the framework of courses, student life in USEK takes several shapes and offers new occasions to develop new competencies and knowledge and build an extensive network of contacts: a student magazine, social associations, and clubs, pastoral work, cultural trips, student parties, etc. Since the University is keen on emphasizing the culture of the body and that of the mind, it also offers students a broad choice of sports activities. The program includes basketball, volleyball, football, tennis, table tennis, oriental dance, yoga, ski, etc. Also, USEK has several sports teams, which take part regularly in competitions among universities and national and international championships. USEK has always been interested in research activities, as proven by the international magazines published by the University (Melto, Parole de l'Orient), the annals and proceedings of high-level conferences and seminars held at USEK, in addition to the numerous publications, which are the result of individual or collaborative research works and which – by and large – pertain to a broad theme of diversification, namely that of the Lebanese and Near-Eastern heritage (musical, theological, liturgical, literary, legal, historical, architectural, technical, scientific, etc.). In this context, exchanges within and among disciplines are promoted, thus establishing links among USEK's faculties and institutes to achieve better collaboration. Moreover, the University has access to much resource equipment earmarked for research activities and put at the disposal of teachers/researchers and students. As higher education became widespread and the socioeconomic crisis in the country grew harsher, USEK has set the following objectives for itself: Make higher education accessible to all equally, without discrimination and, most importantly, without excluding economically deprived students Preserve the quality of its students' education and training to better live in society and their vocational sphere. Since its founding, USEK seeks, and by Article 92 of the Constitutions of the OLM (ed. 2012) and the Catholic Church's social teaching on universities, to contribute to all its students' development through quality educational programs and research in various fields of study. By providing a high-quality American-style education to its students, USEK intends to prepare future leaders for innovation, professional growth, and life-long learning, in Lebanon, within the Middle East, and throughout the world. USEK is committed to a faith-based educational development of its students rooted in the Catholic tradition, whereby spiritual values and ethics and respect for cultural and religious pluralism are promoted.

    Al Jinan University

The youth who believe in education and the scholars who look for specialized and encyclopedic knowledge are the pillars of nations and their civilizations' premises. Based on these facts, Jinan University was founded in 1988. Jinan University was officially licensed by the Lebanese Republican Decree no. 1948 in 1999. So it has become a higher educational institution rewarding official academic degrees of all levels: Bachelor, Honor, Master's, and Ph.D. Degrees. The university took this initiative to help the students evade travel fatigue and the costs of living away from home. The hard work continues to open new branches in the other Lebanese areas. Jinan University has never been limited to Lebanese students. Due to her global culture and good relations with Arab, Islamic, and international surroundings, Jinan has become the destination for students, scholars, thinkers, and specialists from different countries and nationalities. These unique human components' intimate presence features Jinan with the global connectivity aspect in a broad meaning. Students gain a memorable experience and excellent relations, which they can never find, but in universities with a universality aspect.

  8. AUST reflects its founders' concerns in that American-styled university education should be within reach of all qualified students. Hence, tuition fees are kept at a minimum level while providing financial aid to those students who cannot afford the tuition and without compromising the requirements for growth and excellence in academic delivery. The American University of Science & Technology seeks to: Promote the search for the truth through the pursuit of knowledge and the application of its derivatives. Provide men and women from Lebanon, the Middle East, and the rest of the world with the opportunity to seek higher education (without discrimination as to religion, gender, color, national origin, or socioeconomic background) in an atmosphere of intellectual freedom and respect for the particularities of one's own culture and customs. Instill in the minds and the hearts of its students the principles of adequate national and international citizenship so that they may become the agents of social justice, catalysts for universal peace, and promoters of human rights. Ensure an intellectually-rich atmosphere of academic pursuit dominated by responsible freedom and respect for the rights of others. Develop the student's analytical, critical, creative, and communication skills across the curriculum and para-academic activities. Strive to become a model of the use of high technology in education in the region. Avail the students of social, cultural, and educational programs and activities that will support and complement the traditional classroom teaching and the learning processes. Antonine University

The monastery in Lebanon has always been a school. For centuries, Lebanon has owed to the Church in general and monasteries, particularly its cultural and educational development, its didactic art, and its spiritual, literary, and artistic heritage. The Church was the central protagonist in the Nahda, the renaissance in Arab thought. The role of ecclesiastical institutions was decisive in reviving the Arab language and literature after a prolonged state of torpor known as Inhabitat or decadence. The 1736 Synod of Mount Lebanon commanded not only free education but also free clothing and food. Since its foundation towards the end of the seventeenth century, The Maronite Antonine Order has always regarded teaching and educating the youth as a mission and a sphere of its parochial activity. A school was almost always geographically linked to each of the monasteries. Antonine University would like to locate itself amid this famous ecclesiastical tradition. Being an heir to such a glorious past, it aims to maintain a secular, salutary, and civilizing mission. In the past, education had a global character. There was no differentiation among disciplines. The boundaries between school and university were not clear, and the same applied to the differentiation among faculties and courses. The same instructor used the same book for almost all courses to teach all the students in the same institution. This is how the monasteries of Baabda, Mar-Chaya, Ghazir, Deir-el-Kalaa, and Kattine taught their students grammar and languages and philosophy, theology, music, law, and jurisprudence. Higher learning in the East gradually became classified into independent disciplines. The same applies to the allocation of different courses to different faculties. The specialty was increasingly imperative at the level of the institute, the instructor, and the student. The Lebanese state also gradually improved higher learning legislation. Throughout this differentiation process, The Antonine Order committed itself never to confine its educational mission to one field. To that end, the order has continued for decades to prepare its staff members in the most reputed universities in Europe and elsewhere to assume their academic and administrative responsibilities at its university. Meanwhile, the Antonine Order has witnessed several developments at the level of organized higher learning. Throughout those stages, we have been preoccupied with meeting the growing needs of the middle and the lower classes and contributing to Lebanese society's development. In 1979 and following the agreements signed with Belgian universities, Lebanese students started their studies at the Antonine Institute. They completed them in Belgium, where they graduated with Belgian diplomas. The majors ranged from applied sciences to medicine and dentistry. Engineering students did two years in Baabda, followed by three in Belgium; medical students did the first three years in Baabda. They then went to Belgium for another four years, and dentistry students had to spend four years in Baabda before going to Belgium to do their fifth year and obtain the Belgian state diploma in surgery-dentistry. From the beginning, the Antonine students have demonstrated remarkable achievements at The University of Liege, The Free University of Brussels, The Catholic University of Louvain, where they graduated with official diplomas. At present, those graduates have successful careers in addition to having a legal status in their country. Furthermore, it is worth noting that the Antonine Order had a pastoral concern; due to the war, many young Lebanese people, especially Christians, left the country searching for university studies abroad. The results and the validity of that education were uncertain and questionable. Host countries were not adequate milieu for them, and many were lost irremediably. This constituted a real hemorrhage at the human and financial levels, and the young had to face many economic, cultural, linguistic, ethical, and human problems. Many people opted for East European countries. They came back with debatable academic standards and professional competence, especially with an ideology that is hardly commendable for our society.

16. The American University in Dubai is a private, nonsectarian establishment of higher learning established in 1995. AUD's enlistment in 2015-2016 was somewhere around an average of 2,600 students. In Spring 2016, more than one hundred nationalities were embodied in the AUD student body. AUD offers both undergrad and graduates degrees and Certificates in Middle Eastern Studies and Professional Teaching. As well as courses in their selected program/major, college students in all fields must follow an educational module in Arts and Sciences. This is in fulfillment of the general training bit of their degree necessities. Through its Center for English Proficiency (CLEP), the institute also delivers Intensive English courses to create college-level English language skills in students requiring extra language learning before starting college. The institute's staff have suitable academic qualifications. Besides, many are or have been practicing experts of note. As far as workforce composition, North Americans have the most fantastic portrayal of any national gathering. AUD's multi-complex structure has been conceived to support the institute's programs (both academic and additional-curricular) to an American standard. The campus environment incorporates Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City. In satisfaction of its mission as one of only a handful of American-certified foundations of higher learning in the Gulf, The American University in Dubai seeks to reproduce the American formula for fruitful advanced education. Syllabi and reading material are the same as those utilized as a part of the United States. Furthermore, the prevalence of American and American-trained employees additionally guarantees that the university stays American in substance and as well as in name. Expectations of educational performance either coordinate or surpass those predominant on a "common" American campus. A few variables clarify the greatness, which supports American advanced education and aides AUD in the outflow of its American character: An educational module that grants general knowledge but allows for noteworthy specialization A program of extra-curricular exercises intended to develop the student's humanistic standpoint and social aptitudes Employees who merge scholarship and strategy in practicing their classroom obligations Training techniques that create solid aptitudes in essential thinking and exact and powerful self-expression The support of high academic models through transparent and predictable arrangements and Ingraining gratefulness for life-long learning. One may examine that the depiction above represents all universities. However, it is generally thought that something sets American colleges apart. We claim that it is a progression of qualities/points of view that sets apart American higher education in the final investigation. Eventually, AUD's selection of these qualities and their interpretation into a working strategy makes AUD American.
