About Me

  1. Windesheim is in the top three major universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands. Our mission is to make an active contribution to an inclusive and sustainable society by educating valuable and principled professionals and conducting practice-oriented research. Enabling everyone with enough talent to pursue higher education at our university, that is Windesheim's social responsibility. Regardless of their origin, primary education, background, or age, every student with talent counts and deserves the opportunity to develop his/her full potential. Our mission and social responsibility translate into the following three ambitions, determining Windesheim's course for the next few years: Each student has his/her learning pathway that is personal, challenging, and flexible. The research at our university focuses on an inclusive and sustainable society. We improve the transfer of students through the education chain. With well over 25.000 full-time and part-time students and more than 2.000 staff, Windesheim is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands. To maintain and continue to improve the high quality of education and interaction with the business and academic communities, Windesheim has a dedicated governance structure. Our three aims – education, research, and entrepreneurship – are reflected in how the university is organized. We have four divisions, each made up of related study programs and research centers. As well as the campus in Zwolle, there is a campus in Almere offering education, research, and entrepreneurship. The university also has three services departments to support its primary processes. Windesheim is a broad-based, innovative knowledge center, which seeks to create lasting value for students, staff, practicing professionals, and broader society. By doing so, the university aims to play a significant role in the region, Netherlands, and the international community. Students develop into responsible, valuable, and principled professionals. Professionals whose actions are guided by a vision of good citizenship in which personal, institutional, and governmental values play an essential role. Windesheim continuously strives for improvement. For all the university's staff, professionalism is the basis of quality. Quality is not achieved by chance. It is the outcome of process control and harmony with the world around us. Education, research, and entrepreneurship are fully integrated, each field of endeavor driving quality and innovation in the others. And that benefits our students, our partner organizations, and the national and international communities. We believe in the power of diversity. The ability to accommodate differences in background, education, values, culture, and belief enhances professionalism. In our study programs and into the broader organization, the acceptance of responsibility and result-focused working are strongly encouraged. Windesheim is an innovative knowledge center that challenges individuals within organizations to develop into valuable, principled, and confident professionals who have: Socially relevant knowledge and competences Professional and social ambition The ability to achieve personal growth in pursuit of their goals The ability to contribute to the development, improvement, and modernization of companies, social institutions, and governments Windesheim has a clear identity, which shapes the university's approach and policies. Windesheim's identity has its origins in Christianity and Christian culture and the philosophical convictions and inspirations that stem from that faith and culture. 4. Radboud University Nijmegen was established on 17 October 1923 under the name Catholic University Nijmegen. With their University, Dutch Catholics sought to promote the emancipation of Roman Catholics in the Netherlands, who were strongly underrepresented in public administration, the legal profession, medicine, and other sectors. The Radboud Foundation was the body behind this initiative. Radboud University is a comprehensive, international-oriented university that aspires to be one of Europe's best. Together with Radboudumc, we have created an intellectual environment that inspires and challenges our students and staff to extend the scope of academic disciplines and benefit society. Radboud University challenges its students to actively participate in the academic community and trains them to be critical and committed academics, with their views regarding scholarship and society, who will take up responsible positions in a society that is becoming increasingly internationalized. The University's academic staff come from all over the world, and a large proportion of our student population has spent at least some months studying at a university abroad. For its core activities of research and teaching, Radboud University draws its inspiration from academic curiosity and the demands placed upon the University by society. The Strategic Plan sets out the decisions made by Radboud University, based on an analysis of its strengths and weaknesses and of the changing environment in which it performs its core tasks. The Plan describes the goals that the University has set itself for the years ahead. Radboud University offers its staff and students an inspiring, pleasant, and safe work and study environment. It offers its students an education in optimal (academic) surroundings that contribute directly to their formative development as academics and highly trained professionals. To its staff, the University offers opportunities to pursue satisfying careers and develop in their career paths. Students and staff must treat each other and the outside world with respect and integrity. Each member of our academic community is accountable to themselves and others. In this respect, directors, supervisors, professors, and managers have a special responsibility. They are role models because they are to comport themselves with respect and honesty in their daily lives. They have an essential role in taking the initiative and organizing evaluative activities. Authority is clearly defined and transparent. Integrity relates to honesty, openness, and dependability in personal and business relationships, academic education and research, and administration and management. Respectful, as in viewing others as worthy of respect and value. Students and staff take great care when using the resources provided (both by the University and external parties); this includes funds, equipment, furniture, and sports facilities. These resources are to be used solely for the purposes for which they were intended. Radboud University aspires to quality. Internationalization plays a significant role in the quality of our teaching, research, and service provision. These are the three pillars on which we are building towards a leading position in international academia. Our research will only excel if we operate in international partnerships. Our teaching thrives on international exchanges of students and staff. The services we provide are designed to make our international staff and students feel welcome and at home in our academic community. 7. Sinai University was established refereeing to the presidential decree number 363 for the year 2005 in accordance to provisions of law number 101 the year 1992 regarding the private Universities, which was replaced by law number 12 the year 2009 regarding the private and civil Universities and its executive regulations issued by the presidential decree number 302 for the year 2010. The significance of establishing a university, including research centers, especially in the North of Sinai, is not only due to the lack of such universities in this area but also to the particular importance of having a world-class education to support the economic development of the region and to tie the Egyptian economy to the changes and transformation of the international economic system in the 21st century. Specialized high institutes are also needed; hence many countries tended to set up more universities, academies, institutes, and cities. The idea is to increase the flexibility in different economic sectors by securing a base of specialists who constitute the real starting point for economic growth. This fact does not negate the risk of establishing this University in Sinai, which represents a real challenge for national participation in this region's development. The University aspires to be one of the pioneering Universities from local, regional, and international perspectives, introducing educational and research specific services for the local and regional community. We intend to provide our students with the best education practical experience from beginning to end, with smart, sophisticated equipment to deliver glowing, well-educated graduates. Sinai University has two campuses; our main campus is in El Kantara East town in Ismalia Govern ate the other is in Al-Arish inside Sama Village and the beautiful, bizarre sea view, the capital of North Sinai. Hence our students will have time for learning and education and will lead a life surrounded by a charming nature. They will be self-independent in formulating their personality. They will actively participate in all academic and recreational facilities, including faculty academic buildings, students' hostels, central library, gymnasium, coffee shops, swimming pools, and horseback riding. Being involved in extracurricular activities can be a valuable addition to your academic achievements. SU has many student clubs and committees, making your university experience balanced, exciting, and rewarding. There are no limits to our ambitions, and our goal is to make SU an open invitation to peace and a center for academic excellence hence leading a massive developmental movement to Sinai and effectively achieving our National Project's goal to relocate three million Egyptians into a whole new dawn of civilization in Sinai by the year 2017. Sinai University shall fulfill its role in achieving balance to the other side of the equation. The human factor- building the type of graduate that opens up to the latest scientific trends yet maintains their roots and traditions. Sinai's treasures of raw material and vast fertile land- combined with its geographical ingenuity as a global trading center in the Middle East's heart and overlooking the Mediterranean and the Suez Canal lure numerous scientists to attempt to create a tremendous industrial and agricultural revolution. Sinai has witnessed, since the dawn of history, only the wheels of wars and the weapons of destruction is in dire need of a development engine to contribute to reformulating and restructuring life upon this virgin land. With its own distinguished and specialized nature, Sinai University has emerged that made it different in its perception and profile from the traditional academic concepts and policies. Universities have a critical and essential role in national history. California State knew the development path only through a university. Alborg University was the seed for an evolution that enabled such a small spot in the far south of Denmark to be one of those big industrial cities among developed countries. Our primary goal is to provide a high-caliber technical workforce for the future. Our programs offer a balance of practical skills, solid theory, and computer technology, which will allow you to obtain new knowledge and skills when pursuing your career. It is an essential goal of our programs to help you become independent learners. By the time you take your graduation project in the fifth year, you will be expected to manage your time and use all the knowledge you acquired in previous years. In addition to our departments, we have several social and sport extracurricular activities. 16. As the third Egyptian University, Ain Shams University was founded in July 1950 under the name of "Ibrahim Pasha University." It participated with the two earlier universities, "Cairo University" (Fua'd the 1st ) and "Alexandria University" (Farouk the 1st), in fulfilling the message of universities and meeting the increasing demand of youth for higher education. When it was first established, Ain Shams University comprised several distinguished faculties and academic institutes, which were later developed into University. After the revolution of the 23 rd of July 1952, it was suggested that Egyptian universities be given names that were strongly linked with the roots and historical landmarks of the country. Thus on 21 st of February 1954, the name of the University was changed to "Heliopolis," and then changed in the same year to its present name "Ain Shams," the Arabic for "Heliopolis," or "On," which was the oldest University in history. "On" University was established about 5000 years ago, and it had a wide fame as a center of knowledge and learning, especially in astronomy, engineering, and medicine. Perhaps a perfect example of "On" teachers' knowledge and skill is Imhotep, the chief priest, minister, and architect. They, in 2700 B.C., designed the first large structure of stone known in history, Zoser's Step Pyramid in Sakkara. Westcar Papyrus also states that the founder of the Fifth Dynasty was the Rector of "On" University before ascending the throne. However, the most important achievement of "On" University was the call for worshipping a single deity, the solar disk of Aton, at the hands of Akhenaton, who was influenced by the ideas of "On" priests. The University is now located in the Zaafaran Palace area, built during the regime of Khedive Ismail. The Palace was so named because the area surrounding it was famous for saffron (in Arabic Zaafaran) plantations. The Palace was used to host the Egyptian University administration offices when it was established in 1925. It was used by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (as a guest house) for accommodating important visitors. The Palace also witnessed the signing of the 1936 Treaty between Egypt and Great Britain. Finally, in 1952, it came to be used as the administrative headquarters of Ain Shams University. Being a major scientific and cultural institution, Ain Shams University is fully aware of these challenges. It is confident that it has - with other Egyptian Universities - a problematic challenging responsibility for creating the generation. In 1973 the faculty of Al-Alsun was made the tenth member in the University. However, the history of this faculty dates back to 1835. In 1994, a decree was issued to establish two more faculties, the faculty of Pharmacy and the faculty of Dentistry; the actual study was started the following year in both faculties. In the same year, it was decided to establish the faculty of Computers and Information Sciences, and the study started the following year. The last faculty to join the University is the faculty of Specific Education, in 1998. Faculty of Nursing was established in 1980, and the Institute of Childhood Postgraduates Studies was established in 1981. The establishment of the Institute of Environmental Research and Studies was in 1982. Ain Shams University comprises seven campuses, all of which are situated in Great Cairo. The university administration, faculties of Arts, Law, and Science are all located on the main campus, El-khalifa El Mamoon Street, Abbasi. The faculties of Commerce, Al-Alsun (languages), Pharmacy, Dentistry, Computer and Information Sciences, Institute of Postgraduate Childhood and Institute of Environmental Studies and Research, and the specialized Hospital are located on the second campus on the other side of the street above. Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Nursing and the university hospitals are located on another campus at Abassia. Faculties of Engineering, Specific Education, Education, Women, and Agriculture are located on a separate campus in Abbasi, Heliopolis, and Shoubra El-Kheema. Our mission is to Integrate a culture of total quality and continuous improvement in the educational process and research. Enrich the theoretical knowledge and applied the following ethical standards, social and cultural life of society. Spreading the culture and ethics of scientific research. Strengthen cooperation between the University and other universities, scientific research centers locally, regionally, and globally. Development of educational programs in light of the standards of local, regional, and global levels. Strengthening continuing education and distance education. 17. The international is a priority in the strategy of development of the University of Picardie Jules Verne. Its presence on the international scene is manifested by expanding its partner universities' network, its participation in effective exchange programs, and its accession to the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie and the Agency National Campus France. In the early '60s, Amiens grouped four pre-university level establishments: a national school of medicine and pharmacy, a law school, a science college, and an art school. However, these structures did not supply a complete cycle of studies, forcing Amiens to continue their studies elsewhere. Students coming under an exchange agreement attend the same classes and courses and are subject to the same assessments as local students. Grades obtained while studying abroad are recorded, and validation by their university is guaranteed. This course is entirely free of charge, takes place throughout the academic year, and refreshes and develops French language skills. Courses are available at different levels (elementary, intermediate, advanced, and highly advanced) with 5 hours per week and per level: 2½ hours on French culture and civilization, 2½ hours on the French language, making a total of 50 hours per semester. These courses can give up to 8 ECTS credits per semester for validation by the student's home university. An FLE course registration form is sent to students and must be completed and returned to the Department of International Affairs before arrival. The FLE Centre regularly offers courses in French for University Objectives (FUO), which feature intensive French language courses before the start of the academic year (at the beginning of September). These courses allow for a comprehensive review of language basics and help prepare students for university life in France. Conferences about France and cultural activities are also included in the program. Furthermore, this course provides an ideal first opportunity for international students to meet up. A great way to start the year. View full university

  23. The University of the Aegean (Aegean) was founded in 1984, aiming to introduce new higher education approaches in Greece and worldwide and promote regional development. Situated in 6 picturesque islands in the Aegean Archipelago, the Aegean offers a unique natural, cultural and human environment for modern studies in the ancient cradle of knowledge. From its earliest days, the Aegean challenged the prevailing limitations of the academic endeavor in Greece, both in terms of educational approach and organizational structure. In less than thirty years, the Aegean has evolved into an international research-oriented University offering 18 undergraduate (BA or BSc) and 40 postgraduate (MA or MSc) programs in modern interdisciplinary thematic areas such as environment, communication systems, cultural informatics, product design, food and nutritional sciences, education design and Mediterranean studies. Besides, the Aegean has established joined international postgraduate programs (i.e., in Biodiversity, Environmental Policy and Management, European Integration) and joined Ph.D. degree programs in a wide range of thematic areas. The early and full incorporation of Information and Communication Technologies in all aspects of academic and administrative operations and the critical research outputs in specific fields of excellence and innovation have transformed this unique network of "academic ports of studies and research" into a dynamic and competitive institution at national and international level and a vital social and economic stakeholder in the region. The Aegean has created a strong international academic and research profile, having been an active member of the European Universities Association (EUA), a founding partner of the Cremo network, member of the EMUNI Senate, a partner in many academic and research networks, and participant in more than 210 bilateral and LLP Erasmus academic agreements. The University Units (Schools and Departments) are located on six different islands in the Aegean Archipelago (Lesvos, Lemnos, Chios, Samos, Syros, Rhodes ), thus making the University of the Aegean a pioneering network university. The beautiful Aegean islands provide a unique natural, cultural, and human environment in which high-quality research and education can thrive. After the Peace Treaty of Moudros had been signed (17/30 October 1918), Greece was assigned by the allies to control the Smyrna area in order to maintain stability and peace in the wider area. In the socio-political context, Professor Constantine Caratheodory - being a Professor at the University of Berlin - proposed establishing a new University. While Greece was negotiating the normalization of its authority over the "Smyrna zone", the internationally known mathematician turned in a "plan for the creation of a new University in Greece," named "Ionian University" on 20 October 1919. While Greece was extending its borders, Hellenism stood as a mediator between the Slavic and Turkish-Arabic world and the Western world. Caratheodory argued that Athens, being the only educational center in the area, could not deal adequately with the growing needs of the eastern part of the country. He proposed three possible administration centers for the new University: Smyrna, Thessaloniki, and Chios. The Government decided upon establishing the Ionian University, based in Smyrna, Asia Minor (in today's city of Ismir, Turkey) on 1 December 1920. Constantine Caratheodory undertook the task of coordinating the initial efforts. The first plans included establishing schools that would promote the area's development as a critical spot for the overseas Hellenism. Simultaneously, when it was almost ready to operate, the University was considered just as good as other well-known European Universities. However, the Ionian University never opened its doors to students due to the Asia Minor Disaster in 1922. The University of the Aegean is the continuity of Constantine Caratheodory's initial vision. Re-established in 1984, it is one of the newest Universities in Greece. Today, 21 years later, the University has 17 departments and has become one of the largest Universities in the country. The University's central administration is located in Mytilene (the capital of the island of Lesvos). Simultaneously, various departments have been established in Chios, Karlovassi (on the island of Samos), Rhodes, Syros, and Mytilene. Because the University is set up on different islands, it constitutes a University-network covering all the Aegean Sea prefectures. One of the principal features of the Departments of the University of the Aegean is that they develop new scientific domains, usually interdisciplinary, which adhere both to the needs of the contemporary Greek society and global community as well as to students' requirements and expectations for high-quality studies combined with excellent career prospects. The University of the Aegean has been developing slowly but steadily and indeed, according to the Strategic Plans and the Five-Year Development Plans. In these plans, the experiences gained from academic departments' operation on border islands and the communication within a University-Network are incorporated. View full university
