  1. The history of the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) can be traced back to 2003 when visionary Omanis contemplated establishing a high-quality university of technology in Oman, the first University with German collaboration in this region. In 2007, GUtech was established in affiliation with RWTH Aachen University in Germany, one of the world's leading technical universities and member of the elite IDEA league, a strategic partnership of five of Europe's leading research universities, including Imperial College London, Delft University of Technology, ETH Zurich and the Paris Institute of Technology. GUtech is locally accredited by the Omani Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and by the Oman Academic Accreditation Agency (OAAA) and has achieved overseas accreditation by the German Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance Institute (ACQUIN), a member agency of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. The University's Board of Governors' 12 members include external representations from the RWTH Aachen University, The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Embassy in Muscat, and the Omani Ministry of Higher Education, thus assuring high standards in delivering quality education. As a young and innovative university with a student body of just under 2000, the University can deliver an education that incorporates theory and practice in an individualized setting. GUtech students not only learn the theory; they apply and extend what they learn in the classroom in hands-on projects with real-life application, exemplifying the Humboldt ideal of holistic education. Rooted in Omani tradition and driven by German quality standards, GUtech has an inherently international outlook. Our students, faculty, and staff hail from about 40 different countries across the globe, and at least as many different mother tongues can be heard on campus. Students are encouraged to take advantage of our international exchange agreements to gain international experience, primarily through our DAAD funded programs at RWTH Aachen University, including short stays for summer schools, or faculty-led excursions, or long-term stays to write the Bachelor thesis in Aachen or enroll in a consecutive Master's program there. The Campus The GUtech campus is spread over about 100 acres, currently housing the University's main building (40,500 sqm.), three accommodation buildings (11,800 sqm), a teaching and research EcoHouse, a new museum, and exhibition hall, and a classroom building scheduled to open in 2018. Student enrollment in winter semester 2017/2018 stands a little under 2000 with an 80% female population. New 400 bed accommodation is scheduled to open for winter semester 2018/19 and the current 250-bed student accommodation. GUtech staff is comprised of 75 faculty and 108 administrative staff. On-campus facilities include sports amenities, in-house, franchise food options, and a library with access to RWTH Aachen University's digital catalog. The main building on Oman's first-ever Green Campus was awarded the Design Award 2016 of the German Design Council in the category Excellent Communications Design – Architecture. The museum recently received the architecture award for the best commercial project in Oman 2018. GUtech provides students with the education required to become highly qualified and socially responsible graduates, guided by German excellence in science and technology with a firm grounding in Oman's culture and heritage. The University fosters creative and critical thinking to advance research and development and aims to serve society as a whole. GUtech is committed to ethical principles in all of its undertakings. In particular, the University welcomes students and employees from both genders, all ethnic, geographical, cultural, and religious backgrounds. The University encourages association in peace and with tolerance and welcomes other intercultural exchange between Oman and Germany. The German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) strives to become a leading university of technology in Oman and the wider region, thus defining the highest education, research, and innovation standards. 3. The German-Jordanian University (GJU) is a public university located in Mushaqar. It was founded in 2005 by a Royal Decree, following a memorandum of understanding reached between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of the Federal Republic of Germany. In August 2004, a founding committee began up its activities in Jordan. The committee was in close cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. At the same time, the German planning office opened at the University of Magdeburg-Stendal in close cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Education and Research BMBF and the German Academic Exchange Services DAAD, which funded the university project for four years. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) under the category "German Study Programmes Abroad." The laying of the cornerstone took place on April 25th, 2005, under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II and in the presence of Her Excellency Ms. Edelgard Bulmahn, the German Federal Minister of Education and Research His Excellency Dr. Khaled Touqan, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Jordan at the time His Excellency Professor Jan-Hendrik Olbertz, the Minister of Cultural Affairs of Saxony-Anhalt the DAAD Vice President, Professor Max Huber and many other notables. The University was modeled on the German applied-sciences model, characterized by their focus on putting knowledge into practice and promoting knowledge transfer. We aim to play a significant role in promoting links between Jordan and Europe, particularly Germany. By taking advantage of the best educational practices in Jordan and Germany, the University has positioned itself as a leader in its field. The University's focus is on providing undergraduate and graduate programs of the highest quality. We offer over 20 programs, with a student body of around 5,000, drawn predominantly from Jordan and international students. We take pride in our student-centered learning environment and believe that quality education is founded upon close associations between faculty and students. GJU recognizes research and research-led teaching as primary responsibilities of its academic staff and places value on fostering, publishing, and disseminating research of the highest quality internationally. The University's mission, goal, and strategy statements reflect this strong emphasis on the importance of quality research. We provide lifelong learning opportunities for a diverse spectrum of people, capitalizing extensively on partnerships with private companies and public agencies in the region. The University has grown in both size and stature over the past few years. It has positioned itself as a leading institution of higher learning, known for its dedication to service, its innovative approach to academic management and human resource development, and its relentless pursuit of excellence in all fields of applied research and instruction. GJU is linked with many other universities through bilateral agreements for cooperation, collaboration, and exchange of faculty members and students. These include Arab universities in the region and European, North American, and Asian universities. The University is intended to serve as a unique university of applied training, experiential learning, and professional excellence, oriented towards market and industry needs. It is thereby expected to have a remarkable impact on Jordan and the region by capitalizing on the best practices and expertise in higher education in Germany and Jordan. The University has an objective to prepare highly skilled graduates with relevant knowledge of the industry, to contribute positively to socio-economic development, to be able to survive today's fiercely competitive and technologically oriented world, and to boost the industrial and economic standing of Jordan and the region. The School of Applied Medical Sciences was established in September 2005. Two programs, then, constituted the core of the school, namely, Pharmaceutical-Chemical Engineering (CPE) and Biomedical Engineering (BME). Biomedical Engineering was created in response to continual changes and the emergence of new areas of expertise commensurate with rapid advances in technology. Some of the well-established specialties in biomedical engineering include bioinstrumentation biomaterials biomechanics cellular, tissue and genetic engineering clinical engineering, medical imaging orthopedic surgery rehabilitation engineering, and systems physiology. The School of Applied Technical Sciences (SATS) was established in 2005. The SATS offers undergraduate programs in three engineering disciplines giving the students the knowledge and skills they need for success in a technically oriented career. Graduates of the SATS are expected to fill the gap in the Jordanian and the regional markets in critically needed disciplines concerning technology transfer, innovation, and management. The faculty's approach is to foster applied learning in all courses offered via practical projects, teamwork, technical writing, and presentations. The faculty will capitalize on the great opportunity of studying and training its students in Germany during the fourth year to facilitate transfer and management of technological resources via a partnership with many reputable universities in Germany. Our guideline is: whatever the focus might be, we guarantee the highest educational quality for all of our programs. It is irrespective of whether you opt for a logistics, economics, social work, or energy management program. In pursuing its academic objectives, the SRH University of Logistics and Economics Hamm observes the following guiding principles. We are convinced that individual liberty is the life elixir of a lively, dynamic, and democratic society. Although guaranteed by the constitution, individual liberty will not just fall from the sky but must be continuously fought for and asserted repeatedly. This is why we value staff and students who see themselves as liberal, independent personalities and champion the maintenance and defense of civil liberties and fundamental rights with moral courage while also always respecting others' liberty. We believe that people can only fully realize their creativity, originality, and personality to develop and design their life plans as autonomously as possible. We are therefore promoting individual self-determination and self-development in our universities, i.e., the ability to form an own opinion from facts, arrive at own, considered decisions, and represent them with firmness and self-control. We bank on individual responsibility, a willingness to perform, and private initiative to lead a self-determined, socially responsible life that benefits the common good than trusting in collective structures and solutions. Everyone is a unique personality and social being at the same time. This is why we promote our students' and staff's development into people who think and act on their authority and actively and independently shape their fate with self-confidence in their abilities and partnership with others. We welcome all employees and students who meet the subject-related requirements, approach others with tolerance and respect and respect our mission statement's values in their work at our universities, irrespective of their ethnic, religious, and social background. We attach value to our students gaining experience abroad and mediate intercultural competencies. We aim to ensure the party-political, religious, and ideological neutrality of SRH universities and their independence from third parties' economic interests to cultivate a climate of intellectual independence and diversity where staff and students can freely develop, represent and realize their own opinions and ideas. Our guiding principle is a social market economy that combines individual liberty, industry dynamic, and mutual social equalization. We are convinced that a market economy that is as free from state intervention as possible is better suited than any other system to promote individual prosperity, solidarity with others, and just society with its essential elements of freedom of contract, private property, and competition. Therefore, we would like to contribute to the understanding, maintenance, and strengthening of the market economy in our country with and our universities and enable our students to successfully prove themselves in the global competition of markets while remaining aware of their social responsibility. We are convinced that our universities will only live the values above and better address and meet the scientific challenges they face more flexibly and quickly if they are run as a business. This calls for strong entrepreneurial personalities who are willing to assume personal responsibility for the enterprise's welfare entrusted to them, seek their way to success, and then even pursue it if difficulties and obstacles should attend. Our student service is ready to help you at all times. Supporting you during your time at our university is very important to us. You can reach our student service on the telephone Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If these times are a problem for you, we can also offer you other time windows upon prior coordination. Antonine University

The monastery in Lebanon has always been a school. For centuries, Lebanon has owed to the Church in general and monasteries, particularly its cultural and educational development, its didactic art, and its spiritual, literary, and artistic heritage. The Church was the central protagonist in the Nahda, the renaissance in Arab thought. The role of ecclesiastical institutions was decisive in reviving the Arab language and literature after a prolonged state of torpor known as Inhabitat or decadence. The 1736 Synod of Mount Lebanon commanded not only free education but also free clothing and food. Since its foundation towards the end of the seventeenth century, The Maronite Antonine Order has always regarded teaching and educating the youth as a mission and a sphere of its parochial activity. A school was almost always geographically linked to each of the monasteries. Antonine University would like to locate itself amid this famous ecclesiastical tradition. Being an heir to such a glorious past, it aims to maintain a secular, salutary, and civilizing mission. In the past, education had a global character. There was no differentiation among disciplines. The boundaries between school and university were not clear, and the same applied to the differentiation among faculties and courses. The same instructor used the same book for almost all courses to teach all the students in the same institution. This is how the monasteries of Baabda, Mar-Chaya, Ghazir, Deir-el-Kalaa, and Kattine taught their students grammar and languages and philosophy, theology, music, law, and jurisprudence. Higher learning in the East gradually became classified into independent disciplines. The same applies to the allocation of different courses to different faculties. The specialty was increasingly imperative at the level of the institute, the instructor, and the student. The Lebanese state also gradually improved higher learning legislation. Throughout this differentiation process, The Antonine Order committed itself never to confine its educational mission to one field. To that end, the order has continued for decades to prepare its staff members in the most reputed universities in Europe and elsewhere to assume their academic and administrative responsibilities at its university. Meanwhile, the Antonine Order has witnessed several developments at the level of organized higher learning. Throughout those stages, we have been preoccupied with meeting the growing needs of the middle and the lower classes and contributing to Lebanese society's development. In 1979 and following the agreements signed with Belgian universities, Lebanese students started their studies at the Antonine Institute. They completed them in Belgium, where they graduated with Belgian diplomas. The majors ranged from applied sciences to medicine and dentistry. Engineering students did two years in Baabda, followed by three in Belgium; medical students did the first three years in Baabda. They then went to Belgium for another four years, and dentistry students had to spend four years in Baabda before going to Belgium to do their fifth year and obtain the Belgian state diploma in surgery-dentistry. From the beginning, the Antonine students have demonstrated remarkable achievements at The University of Liege, The Free University of Brussels, The Catholic University of Louvain, where they graduated with official diplomas. At present, those graduates have successful careers in addition to having a legal status in their country. Furthermore, it is worth noting that the Antonine Order had a pastoral concern; due to the war, many young Lebanese people, especially Christians, left the country searching for university studies abroad. The results and the validity of that education were uncertain and questionable. Host countries were not adequate milieu for them, and many were lost irremediably. This constituted a real hemorrhage at the human and financial levels, and the young had to face many economic, cultural, linguistic, ethical, and human problems. Many people opted for East European countries. They came back with debatable academic standards and professional competence, especially with an ideology that is hardly commendable for our society.
