      7. In November of 2001, a small group of Christians met in Chino, California, to consider establishing a Reformed Christian college on the West Coast. Parents and young people were often hesitant to travel great distances to the nearest Reformed college. Moreover, the West Coast had many students who would benefit from a specifically Reformed perspective in their college education. At Providence, we believe that an institution is most successful if its vision is stated clearly and integrated consciously into every aspect of community life. The principles that guide Providence are adherence to the teachings of Scripture, Christ-centeredness in both doctrine and practice, and faithful service in extending the Kingdom of God into every area of life. These principles are woven throughout the Providence experience, from school mission statement to syllabus. The name given to Providence Christian College speaks boldly of God's excellent provision in the past and our trust in His goodness to provide for this college's future. God's Word, "providence," means that our sovereign God controls, upholds, and rules everything so that nothing happens to us by chance. As one of our Reformed confessions states, as a result of God's Providence, "we can be patient when things go against us, thankful when things go well, and for the future, we can have good confidence in our faithful God and Father that nothing will separate us from His love" (Heidelberg Catechism, Lord's Day 10). Our name also demands that we remember His sovereign care every day in the future. Whenever we stop trusting His Providence, we will fail. Whenever we begin trusting in ourselves, we will fall. It is our prayer that Providence Christian College, and all those associated with it, will always promote its name, trusting in the compassionate care of our Heavenly Father. The eye-catching centerpiece to Providence's campus is McGavran Hall, named for India's famous Christian missionary, who was a significant influence on modern missions, Donald A. McGavran. Providence classrooms fill the second floor of this impressive three-story structure, recently remodeled and upgraded with newly installed wireless internet. Students enjoy a clean and functional learning environment, complete with wall-sized windows looking out on the campus with mountains in the background. As the Academic Resource Center (ARC) is located down the hall from the classrooms, academic help and a quiet study area are just a short walk away. Open until midnight, and the ARC is the place for late-night study groups and a workspace away from distractions. Pierce Hall is the most versatile and widely-used facility on campus. It is centrally located immediately to the north of Speer Hall. The upper floor houses the cafeteria, which is complete with outdoor balcony seating. Students share meals with Providence staff and faculty, along with the extended community of the campus's other residents and organizations. The Latourette Library stands tall at the north end of the campus. One large room of the second floor houses Providence's book collection and research materials. Against the walls, there are several study carrels and computers for exclusive use by Providence students. In addition to Providence's library, students have access to William Carey's expansive third-floor collection of theological and mission-oriented materials for study. Located at the edge of the campus to the west of the Pierce building, the Gladys Aylward Hall provides residential space for over 300 people. Providence occupies the northern wing of the building with men on the first floor and women on the second. Rooms consist mainly of two-person rooms complete with beds, desks, and ample storage space. Each hall has a spacious, typical restroom. In addition to residences, Aylward provides a well-stocked weight room, several community rooms, community kitchen facilities, barbeque, and mail service. Located on the north edge of campus along Elizabeth Street, Townsend Hall provides additional residential space. It boasts a newly renovated quad style living and a spacious inner courtyard. Providence is committed to affordable education for all of its students, which is why we partner with you to make an educational investment in your future. Because of hundreds of generous donors, 100% of our students receive financial aid. Providence holds its total cost at an average of $7500 less than other Christian colleges in California, and last year 72% of our students received a renewable academic scholarship. 11. Welcome to Pillar College where we are dedicated to helping you pursue God’s purpose and your passions in higher education. Pillar is an undergraduate and graduate institution of higher learning that is faithful to classical Christianity, grounded on the authority of God’s Word, and committed to challenging Christians to serve Christ with passion and purpose. As He came into the world to serve God and humanity, you also are invited to learn how to invest your life to make a lasting impact on our world. Pillar College educates, inspires, and equips students for excellent scholarship, service, and leadership. Rooted in and committed to Pillar College has its roots as an educational ministry of the Pillar of Fire, International. The Pillar of Fire was organized in 1901. It is an evangelical organization with theological roots in the Methodist Episcopal Church and the nineteenth century American Holiness Movement. Originally called Zarephath Bible Institute, ZBI was founded in 1908 as a training school for missionaries, preachers, and teachers. Over the years, it has prepared many students to serve in various occupations in numerous Christian ministry organizations. ZBI became Somerset Christian College on March 23, 2001 When the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education issued the license to grant the two-year Associate in Biblical Studies degree. In 2006 the college was approved to offer four-year Bachelor of Arts degrees. After the loss of the Zarephath Campus due to Hurricane Irene in 2011, Somerset Christian College moved its headquarters to Newark NJ and in 2012 changed its name to Pillar College. Christian faith and love, Pillar fosters intellectual, spiritual, and social development among its diverse student population at various instructional sites. The following is a concise statement of the Wesleyan-Arminian theological doctrines upon which Pillar College is founded. While students are not required to subscribe to all of the following points, all agree to honor the rich tradition upon which this institution was established. We believe that there is one God, creator and sustainer of all things, infinite in love, perfect in judgments, and unchanging in mercy. God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus Christ is God’s Son incarnate, born of the Virgin Mary. He died for the sins of all, taking on Himself, on behalf of sinful persons, God’s judgment upon sin. He rose bodily from the grave and ascended to the right hand of the Father where He intercedes for us. We believe that the Holy Spirit is God present and active in the world. The Holy Spirit was given to the Church in His fullness at Pentecost. By the Spirit, Christ lives in His Church, the gospel is proclaimed, and the kingdom of God is manifested in the world. We believe in the divine inspiration, truthfulness, and authority of both the Old and New Testaments, the only written Word of God, without error in all it affirms. The Scriptures are the only infallible rule of faith and practice. The Holy Spirit preserves God’s Word in the Church today and by it speaks God’s truth to peoples of every age. Pillar College is an accredited learning community dedicated to building tomorrow’s leaders today. The only accredited Christian college in New Jersey, Pillar has been offering a Christ-centered education for over 100 years. We offer traditional four-year Bachelor of Arts degrees in addition to two-year and nontraditional degree or certificate options for adult learners. When you visit any of our three locations—in Somerset, Newark or Paterson—you’ll find that Pillar College is more than an address. It’s a community of supporters. As such, we offer a quality comprehensive education with the highest possible accreditation. Our academic programs are tailored to fit the specific needs of each student. Finlandia offers academic programs of study leading to associate and baccalaureate degrees in the disciplines of art and design (BFA), business (BBA), liberal studies (B.A., A.A., AGS), and health sciences (BSN, AAS). Finlandia University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association for Colleges and Schools (NCA-HLC). Best Value SchoolFinlandia University offers several unique tuition initiatives, numerous merit-based scholarships, and one of the most affordable tuition rates in the upper Midwest for a private university. One hundred percent of our full-time domestic students receive some financial aid in 2015-16 that added up to Finlandia, investing more than $2.7 million into our students' future. In 2017 and 2018, Finn was named a Best Value School. Finlandia University is a learning community dedicated to academic excellence, spiritual growth, and service. With its dedicated faculty and diverse student body, the university fosters intellectual challenge, open dialogue, service to others, and entrepreneurial response to a world characterized by change. One of the most commonly made mistakes in choosing a college is to base one's decision on outward costs alone. To fully determine the best buy, financial aid opportunities must be factored in. Often a small private institution is better able to look at financial aid on an individual basis. This can result in the student realizing more financial aid opportunities, thus offsetting the costs. Apply for free and see how your financial package can add up. You may end up with more affordable tuition than you would with a public institution. Scholarship opportunities from Finlandia that would require an application and that would be in addition to the funding a full-time student would receive for their cumulative Finlandia GPA (or incoming GPA for new students) will be posted here as they become available. We are proud to call the Upper Peninsula of Michigan home and have a passion for welcoming our fellow Yoopers to campus, which is why we are introducing the $4,000 U.P. Commitment Grant. 18. Founded in 1947 by a group of Missionary Church visionaries, the goal was to create leaders for the world. In the seven decades that have passed since then, we have succeeded in that mission! While some things have changed on campus, we've continued to be intentional as we guide students along in their spiritual journey and path to academic success in some key ways: Our students' spiritual formation is about creating a holistic approach for each student's spiritual journey and personal discovery. That begins with being faithful to God and his word. Mentoring is a part of the Bethel community where students can connect with their peers, faculty, staff, and even alumni. At Bethel, students build lifelong relationships that will continue well past graduation. Academics in over 50 areas of study allow students to explore, grow, and prepare for their future careers. Each field of study is rich with knowledgeable professors seeking the success of our students. Every fall, students return to campus, ready to grow and ready to engage in experiences that will shape them for their future roles in the world. From undergraduate programs that train nurses to sign language interpreters to musicians to athletes, our students impact the world. Our students are offered many opportunities through task force trips, internships, and, finally, careers. We can offer more grad courses now than in the past through an expanded online program. Bethel offers graduate programs online, on-campus, and some as hybrids. We offer master's degrees in business administration (Online MBA), counseling (M.A. in Counseling Online), education (including Master's in Education Online, a school administrator license, Special Education Licensure Online, Transition to Teaching Licensure Program – On-campus (evening courses), Master of Reading and Literacy Online, Online Masters Degree in Educational Leadership), ministry (Master of Ministry Degree Online), Nursing (, Educator's track and Administrator track), Teaching, Theological Studies (Master of Ministry and Master of Arts in Theology). The experiences do not end when students leave campus. In our Bethel Community Stories section, we share stories about our alumni, as well as reports on current students, donors, faculty, staff, and friends whom we hope to provide inspiration and seeds of wisdom. We are a Christian community of learners dedicated to building lives of commitment to leadership in the Church and the world. Bethel provides liberating academic and co-curricular programs to challenge the mind, enlarge the vision, and equip the whole person for lifelong service. Our goal is to partner with our students and families to connect them with the resources they need to help their dreams become a reality. Your education at Bethel College is an investment in your future. We are confident that your time at Bethel will help you become the best version of yourself, with your future potential to become even more than you can imagine! Financial aid, grants, scholarships, loans – it can be overwhelming and confusing. While there are common steps for every institution for financial aid, there are also some unique requirements. Federal Aid – financial aid from the federal government, is available to help you pay for education expenses. Grants (Pell, TEACH, SEOG), loans (subsidized, unsubsidized, PLUS), and work-study are federal student aid types you must complete the FAFSA to apply for this aid. More information regarding federal aid can be found on their site. State Aid – Indiana residents may be eligible for grants from the state of Indiana to be applied to their direct tuition costs. These grants are need-based, and the FAFSA must be completed by April 15th to be considered for any applicable state grants. More information regarding state financial aid. Institutional Awards – Bethel College awards many types of institutional scholarships and grants to full-time undergraduate students. Awards may be based on merit or need and may be restricted to tuition costs only. Financial aid awards and policies are subject to change—review list of an expanded list of institutional awards and financial aid policies. Students can apply for an alternative loan to cover remaining educational expenses, but most will need a credit-worthy cosigner. Based on the federal government's criteria, students who receive federal financial aid may be selected for verification. This process is designed to verify the financial information provided on the FAFSA. A verification worksheet and federal tax information is required to complete the process. Additional information may also be requested. To be considered for all financial aid, information must be submitted within 30 days of the college's written request. In no instance will verification information be processed beyond the student's enrollment period. All federal, state, and institutional grants and scholarships will post to your student account at the start of each semester, once all requirements have been met. Some grants or scholarships may have minimum enrollment, or housing requirements endowed scholarships often require a thank-you note from the recipient to be sent to the donor. Some federal programs require additional steps to be completed before funds being released, such as the direct loan and TEACH grant. From the original Oakwood-Slater Hall and Shupe Hall for underclassmen to the newer Logan Village for upper-level students, there's a rich history in our student dorms. In your home away from home, you'll build close friendships and always support our Student Life Staff. Bethel College's Spiritual Life is often referred to as the heartbeat of campus. Whether you are in the chapel, the classroom, or the dorm, you will find opportunities to grow spiritually. Three times a week, students and staff gather together for chapel. With student-led worship and a variety of speakers, this weekly practice allows the Bethel community to engage different perspectives and experiences. Our Spiritual Life team puts on events to engage the campus in spiritual practices and disciplines throughout the year. Read through the Bible in a weekend during Scripture 66, participate in prayer stations during the Collegiate Day of Prayer, or join the weekly alternative service, Vespers. Most significantly, though, Bethel College is a community of discipleship. There is a vibrant mentoring program on campus, and staff, faculty, and students all reap the benefits of these relationships. We hope you will take part in this essential piece of the Bethel experience. View full university

      20. NewSchool of Architecture & Design, a globally recognized and awarded design university, is known for its forward-thinking professors, an inspiring campus community, and top industry connections and collaboration opportunities. NewSchool students are innovative designers who are passionate about pursuing exciting careers in architecture, design, and construction management. From the first day of class, students explore and breakthrough creative boundaries, while hands-on experiences provide the foundation and tools necessary to grow and succeed as a designer. In 1980, the late Richard Welsh founded NewSchool of Architecture in a small industrial building in Chula Vista, California. Welsh had a vision: a superb professional education program that culminated with the Bachelor of Architecture degree. Change and growth came quickly. In 1988, NewSchool of Architecture relocated to central downtown San Diego and, in 1989, Berlin Education Corp. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Futures in Education, Inc.) purchased the school. Soon after, more architecture degree programs were added: the Associate of Arts, the Master of Architecture, and the Master of Science in Architecture. In 2001, ForeFront Education, Inc., acquired the school and changed its name to NewSchool of Architecture & Design. From its earliest days, NewSchool offered an evening class structure to accommodate a large number of working students. In 1991, NewSchool was institutionally accredited. Many mid-career professionals interested in changing vocations were attracted to the afternoon and evening schedules available for NewSchool's architecture degree programs. In 1998, NewSchool's Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) and Master of Architecture (M.Arch) was accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). In July 2008, NewSchool was acquired by Laureate Education, Inc., a global network of more than 60 institutions offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs to more than 1,000,000 students around the world. NewSchool's highly regarded architecture and design programs complement Laureate's global network of higher education institutions. In 2014, NewSchool was awarded regional accreditation by the WASC Senior College and University Commission. In 2016, NewSchool received an 8-year re-accreditation by National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) for its Bachelor of Architecture, First Professional Degree and Master of Architecture, First Professional Degree. The undergraduate architecture curriculum is organized into multiple divisions: The first year introduces students to the foundational elements of architectural design and integrative studies. The second, third, and fourth years continue to introduce and advance skills in architectural design and develop the core elements of building technology and professional practice. This is the case in both the Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Arts in Architecture programs, with minor changes in the Bachelor of Arts in Architecture program due to the reduced number of credits over a 4-year pre-program leading to graduate studies in architecture. The Bachelor of Arts in Architecture program is based on 183 credits versus 225 credits required for the Bachelor of Architecture degree. Additionally, the Bachelor of Arts in Architecture degree does not require an undergraduate thesis sequence to be completed over three consecutive quarters in the program's fifth and final year. Both architectural programs require students to complete a required number of credits in professional elective credits, providing students with a range of interdisciplinary coursework opportunities in other programs such as Construction Management, Graphic Design & Interactive Media, and Interior Architecture & Design. A minor consisting of 18 elective credits is an option for students in either program but may require additional elective credits. The 5-year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree offers a curriculum that prepares students to become licensed architects. This program teaches both the profession's fundamentals and the advanced theories and practical application of creating inspirational structures sustainably. Learn more about the Bachelor of Architecture degree program. The 4-year Bachelor of Arts in Architecture degree prepares students to enter a NAAB accredited first professional Master of Architecture program. This program opens the door to many academic options and prepares students for various architecture and design-related career paths, excluding architectural licensure. Learn more about the Bachelor of Arts in Architecture degree program. NewSchool graduate programs in architecture are committed to exploring the dynamic and changing nature of architecture and what it means to be an architect in the world today. From the pluralistic, relativist perspective of intellectual discourse, to the expanding morphology of practice models, to the very means by which architectural design is produced, the discipline is in a state of unprecedented change. At the same time, there is widespread acknowledgment across fields of the value of design thinking and design education. NewSchool leverages that value in the development of creative thinkers who will serve society in many ways. At NewSchool Assessment is a cyclical or continuous process that can be described in 5 stages. The first step in the assessment cycle is to establish learning outcomes. Once the outcomes are determined, a plan must be established to determine what learning outcomes will be assessed and when they will be assessed (see below for a sample of NewSchool's 3-Year Assessment Plans). The next step in the cycle is teaching or provide learning opportunities (e.g., assignments, projects, lectures, readings). Once teaching has occurred, the assessment of student learning occurs. This is the fourth step. This critical step ensures that students are learning what we teach. The final step in the process is to close the loop and ensure that the results from assessing student learning are being used to make programmatic, curricular, or co-curricular changes. NewSchool of Architecture & Design is committed to making college and graduate school affordable for students through our scholarship programs. We are proud to award more than $1 million in scholarships each year. We offer a robust financial aid program for our domestic undergraduate and graduate students, consisting of our institutional scholarships and grants, state and federal financial aid, federal work-study opportunities, loans, and military benefits! 25.
