- The establishment of Saint Joseph Institute of Technology is a dream and vision fulfilled. The institute is a product of a remarkable and splendid dream of a young and enterprising man of Candijay Bohol whose preoccupation and primary interest in life was driven by reaching out to the youth through education as the key that opens the door towards progress and quality of life to the least of the people in Butuan City and its neighboring provinces. The young man who founded the school and became the first president was Dr. Nicomedes A. Salas. SJIT, from a humble beginning, out of scarcity started in 1971 in a rented two-story building, made of wood, equipped with old few typewriters and old sewing machines that Dr. Nicomedes out of small savings, bought in Surigao City. Included was a set of basic furniture for a classroom that became the learning hub of the first 130 students enrolled in two semesters for vocational/technical skills working with a faculty complement of (3) three who could start the tinkering and learning of necessary livelihood skills. With a decade from its small beginnings, SJIT has expanded tremendously with an increasing trend of enrollment, courses offered, and the construction of five-story and six-story buildings equipped with the latest state of the art facilities, equipment, instructional technologies and laboratories, and fully air-conditioned classrooms. Concomitant to this change "from scarce beginnings to sustainable growth, " SJIT has expanded its infrastructure to what is now one of the most imposing and impressive schools in the region. The program offerings were remarkable that they expanded from just the vocational-technical skills-based to professional - technical courses to include, among other the marine engineering, marine transportation, engineering and architecture, information technology, nursing, business and management, and criminology as well as humanities and arts and sciences and education.
- As a member of the Institut Sankt Joseph Community, We witness how our educational ideals are put into practice every day. It is my mission to make sure that each child has access to an academically challenging liberal arts education, which is composed of an ambitious and caring school environment that is grounded in professionalism, solidarity, and Catholic-humanistic ideals. In everyday teaching, we value sufficient time for dialogue, reflection, and thoughtfulness, also about existential and religious issues. It is our goal that every student’s intellectual, creative and spiritual development are developed together as they grow at our school. We offer a vibrant and unique international environment, with students representing over 50 countries worldwide which makes for a diverse student body – culturally, religiously, and socio-economically. An interactive process where children are included in open and trusting relationships, and whereby the teaching staff has the desire and skills necessary to help open up the world to every child. Institut Sankt Joseph was established November 17, 1858, by the St. Joseph Sisters Society, which governed the school until March of 1976. The school was started as an all girl´s academy and stayed that way until 1968 when boys were also admitted. The school’s main building was built in 1914-15, and in 1928 the building underwent a major expansion, wherein a physics and biology lab was added. The building was designed by architect Christian Mandrup-Poulsen, who also designed the sisters’ convent and Jeanne d’Arc School. An inner acquisition and processing system, where children process the influences that he /she meets through interaction with the outside world. The starting point is the child’s experience and prior learning. At Institut Sankt Joseph Copenhagen, we strive to bring the following formation ideas into reality: Every child shall be educated and formed in the values of community, democracy, and equal human dignity. Every child shall have an understanding and an insight into other religions, nationalities, languages, and cultures. Every child shall have self-awareness with a growing recognition of their strengths and values. Every child shall use their abilities for learning, creativity, and proficiency. Every child´s worldview and belief system shall be developed and made more mature. Every child will want to use himself for the benefit of other human beings and the world to create more freedom, justice, and peace. Every child shall have the ability and courage to make ethically founded choices, and know that choices have consequences. Every child shall leave the school with specific competencies, courage to take on life, and a desire for lifelong learning. Students from ISJ will be positive members of society by being polite and empathetic towards others.
- St. John's distinctive liberal arts curriculum and educational practices have long given it a highly respected place among American colleges and universities. Its strong commitment to collaborative inquiry and the study of original texts make St. John's College an incredibly vibrant community of learning. Through close engagement with the works of some of the world's greatest writers and thinkers—from Homer, Plato, and Euclid to Nietzsche, Einstein, and Woolf—students at St. John's College grapple with fundamental questions that confront us as human beings. As they participate in lively discussions and throw themselves into the activity of translating, writing, demonstrating, conducting experiments, and analyzing musical compositions, St. John's students learn to speak articulately, read attentively, reason effectively, and think creatively. All classes at St. John's College are small, and students take active responsibility for their education, formulating questions, and developing their thoughts in dialogue with one another. Faculty at St. John's College share the College's dedication to an education that privileges intellectual engagement over rigid expertise. They regard themselves as guides and mentors whose task is not to transmit information but to pose questions that further students' ability to develop as thinkers in their own right. Every student's contribution receives serious consideration as classes delve into discussions of foundational works of philosophy, literature, history, theology, politics, economics, psychology, music, mathematics, and the laboratory sciences. By immersing themselves in these investigations, by examining their ideas in conversation with faculty and fellow students, and exploring their written work insights, students acquire formidable skills and cultivate enduring critical analysis and thinking habits. They learn to take themselves and others seriously as reasoning and feeling beings, work together as collaborators and colleagues, and lead fruitful lives of independent reflection and shared activity. In addition to the undergraduate program, St. John's students may earn a master of arts degrees through the Graduate Institute. St. John's College faculty are dedicated to teaching and are readily available to students. All classes are small (13 to 19 students), ensuring that every student has a voice. The overall faculty-student ratio is 1 to 8. Paper conferences, informal study groups, the "Take a Tutor to Lunch" program, and a wide variety of extracurricular activities provide any number of occasions for students to interact with faculty members. St. John's College students pursue all manner of activities outside the classroom. The College has a lively theatrical tradition, a host of musical groups ranging from madrigal singers to lunch-time jam sessions, art and photography clubs, language study groups, and an active intramural sports program. In Annapolis, the sailing and rowing teams compete in several regattas each year. Other intercollegiate offerings in Annapolis include the fencing team and the croquet club. In Santa Fe, the Search and Rescue team allows students to develop their backcountry skills and contribute an essential service to the region. St. John's draws students from all 50 states and some 20 foreign countries. The diverse backgrounds and experiences they bring to the College deepen and enrich their shared investigations. Statistics show that St. John's College students excel in their endeavors both at the College and after graduation. Almost 70 percent of St. John's graduates pursue advanced degrees—many enter the nation's leading humanities, science, business, law, and medical programs. St. John's College is in the top two percent of all colleges in the nation for alumni earning PhDs in the humanities, and in the top four percent for earning them in science or engineering. One of St. John's College's many striking features, however, is that there is no typical St. John's graduate: St. John's graduates pursue all manner of careers. They become authors, winemakers, musicians, filmmakers, teachers, astrophysicists—whatever they choose. As students work in and across disciplines, wrestling with philosophic, literary, musical, mathematical, and scientific texts, they acquire habits of mental flexibility and focus, develop their powers of intellect and imagination—and so become effective problem solvers, leaders, thinkers, and communicators. St. John's College alumni span the globe as learners and leaders, as individuals passionate in their pursuit of truth. Life at St. John's is active and engaging. Undergraduate students gain critical thinking skills and learn to innovate and succeed in a changing world. Recent college graduates, public and private school teachers, military members, professionals, and retirees all pursue master's degrees at the Graduate Institute they explore the great works of Western and Eastern civilizations. It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium, allocated to schools per FSM pupil, is spent since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility. However, they will be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families.

In the Second Secondary class, students gain an in-depth understanding of the acquired knowledge by actively participating in the learning process. In conformity with academic norms, students engage in scientific research, maquette building, and scientific term paper writing based on interactive lessons and experimental observation. Students acquire a more profound level of learning through analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and critical thinking. They are initiated during self-evaluation and orientation sessions to choose the most appropriate track for the final year. In the Third Secondary class, students are called forth to meet two important challenges first, pursuing education in college, and second, passing the official exam. They also grow into becoming actively involved in decisions related to their daily life and are directly prepared to embrace life outside the school as active members of society.
