Florida Prep is a premier day and boarding school in Melbourne, Florida. We are a coeducational college-prep school for grades 5-12. Florida Prep values integrity, community, and scholarship at every level. Set in 11 acres of lush tropical landscape, the Florida Prep campus boasts a full-sized sports field, baseball nets, gymnasium, outdoor concert area, tennis courts, landscaped gardens, and many locations to gather, chat, or seek solitude. Our campus features a large, open grassy play area that allows for unstructured fun and activities, such as playing ball or tag and lots of space in which to enjoy the company of their peers and develop social and language skills. In 1925, Ernest Kouwen-Hoven erected the first building on what is now the Florida Preparatory Academy campus. It was a magnificent Spanish Mediterranean-style mansion, complete with an authentic Art Deco interior. He used the mansion as his home for only one year before selling it in 1926 to A.S. Widrig, who added extra rooms to it and renamed the property "The Lincoln Hotel." In 1957, The Lincoln Hotel was sold to August J. Rimer, the original owner of the Green Bay Packers. He renamed the hotel "The Barcelona." In 1961, Mr. Rimer sold The Barcelona Hotel to Mr. Jonathan Dwight, an educator and aviation enthusiast from New Jersey. Several months later, with his wife Emmy Dwight, he founded Florida Air Academy, a military-style college preparatory school for young men. In the fall of 2005, the Academy began accepting female students in both boarding and day capacities. The girls made an excellent contribution to the school and raised the bar academically. There have been five female valedictorians since the school became coeducational. In 2011, Florida Air Academy celebrated its 50th Anniversary year. Four years later in June of 2015, FAA became Florida Preparatory Academy (Florida Prep) to more accurately reflect its college preparatory identity. The AFJROTC program became an optional elective instead of a requirement. The flight program continues to offer students the opportunity to study to obtain their private pilot's license at age 16! The Academy is now undergoing another change in identity. In 2017 the school was purchased by a California-based investment company, New open USA. As a result, major investment in campus technology, the expansion of the campus footprint, and dormitory refurbishment is currently underway. Several new support programs, including SAT and ACT prep, are being introduced, and a new academic STEAM-focused curriculum, designed to utilize our new campus facilities, is in the pipeline. An active faculty recruitment drive is yielding top-class talent from within the USA and beyond. Academics, leadership, character, and preparing students for college and a global business environment continue to be our primary focus. The mission of Florida Prep is to prepare each student for college success and beyond in a way that leads to personal wisdom and integrity, cross-cultural partnerships and a global vision, and service to others, society, and the environment. Mount Florida Primary and Nursery Class is a three-story sandstone building that was built in 1897 so it is over one hundred years old. The school is now classed as a listed building. Only this term have we been fortunate enough to have new windows installed making the school watertight. A lot more light is coming in making the classrooms and the whole school brighter. The school is situated near Hampden Park in between Carmunnock Road and Cathcart Road. There are two playgrounds. The infant classes are on the upper playground in Carmunnock Road and P4-7 is in the larger lower playground on Cathcart Road. Mount Florida is a non-denominational, multi-racial school. At present we have 237 primary school pupils and 10 classes. We have a nursery class that accommodates 20 children in the morning session and 20 children in the afternoon session. The Curriculum we offer is A Curriculum for Excellence – Early Level. This is a broad and deep general education. The curriculum is experiential and child-centered advocating ‘learning through play. It sets out a wide range of experiences that enable children to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens, and effective contributors. Through engaging activities, the children develop the skills and concepts needed for living in a multi-cultural society. Parents are valued for their role in this partnership of education. You are your child’s first and most important educator and we look forward to working with you and sharing the extensive knowledge and understanding you have of your child. We promote learning through a whole range of activities and experiences. Activities involve the child in making decisions, investigating, and solving problems. All learning is done at the child’s own pace and starts from where he or she is ‘at’ in his/her developmental stage. We have consistently high expectations of children’s achievements and behavior and share these with children and parents. View full school

The Miami-Dade location was established in 1993 following a close relationship with Miami Christian College. The Florida sites offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs represented by three schools of the university – Trinity College, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and Trinity Graduate School. Trinity has a rich legacy that reaches back to the end of the 19th century beginning as a Bible Institute. It is the result of the merger of two Scandinavian immigrant church groups, who began schools to train their ministers and missionaries. The two groups were the Norwegian-Danish Free Church Association and the Swedish Evangelical Free Church of America. Since 1897, Trinity has flourished through many transitions. The latest transition occurred in January 1995 when Trinity College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois and Trinity College in Miami, Florida united to become Trinity International University. Trinity offers students an international vision in a world that is increasingly independent and enrolls students from over forty countries on all our campuses. At Trinity International University-Florida we are committed to the same vision with which we were founded in 1897 and determined to follow in the footsteps of the great universities that were founded on the cornerstone belief that all wisdom lies in Jesus Christ. Our task, if we are to be salt in the world of our day, is to build institutions where we can think like Christians and learn to live as Christians in a culture in which both have become equally hard. Whether preparing to be pastors or missionaries or attorneys, teachers, counselors, scientists, corporate leaders, homemakers or public servants, whatever our calling under God, we need excellence in education, grounded in the lordship of Jesus Christ. That is the goal and task of Trinity International University. Trinity educates men and women to engage in God’s redemptive work in the world by cultivating academic excellence, Christian faithfulness, and lifelong learning. At the heart of Trinity’s mission lies its commitment to engage the culture for Jesus Christ. Trinity’s purpose is to enable its graduates—in all schools and in every discipline—to think and live like Christians in the twenty-first century. We believe that God calls his people into many kinds of the services Trinity’s calling is to prepare them to serve for his glory. We offer the rigorous academics Trinity International University is known for, at a location and pace that is convenient for your busy life. At the University of Florida, we are a people of purpose. We are committed to challenging convention and ourselves. We see things not as they are, but as they could be. And we strive for a more significant impact: one measured in people helped and lived improved. At UF, we have some of the top faculty in the country. In addition to attracting over $700 million in research each year, they foster the uniquely collaborative environment that transforms potential into actual results. Our innovation does not end with our facilities - it is just the beginning. In fact, inside our classrooms, residence halls, and labs, you can help us keep even more incredible things growing - like the U.S. economy, where research dollars are invested into startup companies at five times the national average. We are not content to rest. We aspire to solve grand challenges, and in doing so, to propel UF to the very top tier of public universities. Our Go Greater campaign is an investment in the future of our state, nation, and the world, and YOU. Whatever you have your sights set on, that is merely the beginning. Gators see beyond the horizon. We measure success not in individual achievements but in where we go from there. Because when reaching our goals is just the starting point, there is no end to what you can accomplish as a Gator. We are The Gator Nation. We are a nation of individuals with great potential that's only surpassed by what we can accomplish together. Our commitment to pushing the world forward starts with pushing ourselves. We search our 16 colleges and then look through our library of 100 undergraduate majors and 200 graduate programs. Your path is waiting. No matter where you are, you can earn an undergraduate degree from the University of Florida. With an online bachelor's program ranked #12 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, UF is a leader in online education, allowing you to experience life as a Gator and graduate with the same prestigious degree as your on-campus peers. UF Online offers 20 majors across various disciplines, seven minors, and dedicated academic advisors to help students design their academic pathway. As Gators, we approach our Honors program like everything else — a little differently. At UF, Honors is a challenge aimed at students who want to make the most of their time. Recognizing the diversity of interests, we have a program that can be tailored by the student. Since honors students also live together and participate in a variety of service projects in addition to their studies, it is no surprise that these Gators are changing the world before they even graduate. The Gator commitment extends beyond our more than 200 research, service, education centers, bureaus, and institutes. We have boots on the ground in UF IFAS extension offices in all 67 counties in Florida, keeping our fingers on the pulse of the Sunshine State's needs. Whatever you have got your sights set on, that is merely the beginning. As a Gator, you will learn to see beyond the horizon. We measure success, not in individual achievement, but where you go from there. Because when reaching your goals is just the starting point, there is no end to what Gators can accomplish. At UF, we are continually finding ways to be active in the community. But even with a full plate, Gators are always hungry for more - for more chances to get involved and better ways to pursue better. With the Florida sun beaming down every month of the year, your pursuits at UF will not be restricted to the classroom. And with almost 1,000 student-run organizations, expect your calendar to be full all year long. With an active student body and an abundance of Florida sunshine, recreation is a big part of life on campus. We offer more than 60 intramural and club sports, personal training, a midnight fun run, and one of the country's best fitness facilities. Whether it is a student government that manages one of the most massive budgets in the country, a student body that volunteers more than 3,000 hours of service a year, or mentoring 30 minutes a week, Gators are working for a greater purpose. Gators see things differently. We measure success, not in awards, but in lives saved. We think advancing progress is more important than advancing statistics. And significant breakthroughs are not caused for a victory lap. They are just paths to even bigger ones. Every day, we are striving for a better world through better research. At UF, our research leads us to collaborate across departments, the state, the nation, and the world. Together, our focus is on improving lives—not just in the lab or in theory but also real life. Because we are not just discovering breakthroughs or developing new products, we shape the minds that shape the future. It is a process that leads to not only stronger minds but better brains. For example, our McKnight Brain Institute is one of the nation's most comprehensive and technologically advanced centers devoted to discovering how the normal brain operates and how we can repair the brain following injury, disease, or aging.

In 1965, Florida Senator Robert M. Haverfield introduced Senate Bill 711, which instructed the state Board of Education and the Board of Regents (BOR) to begin planning for developing a state university in Miami. An abandoned airfield is an unusual place for the birth of a university. However, in the summer of 1969, founding FIU president Chuck Perry gathered three leaders who would help him create his vision. Butler Waugh, Donald McDowell, and Nick Sileo joined the 31-year-old Perry at Tamiami Airport and set up shop in the former air traffic controllers' tower. The tower had no phones, no drinkable water, and no furniture. President Perry decided that the control tower should never be destroyed and so it remains standing today at the center of campus, as FIU's Ivory Tower. From that single building on that abandoned airfield, FIU has grown to be one of the country's largest universities. The spirit of entrepreneurship born on that summer day thrives at today's FIU.

On a bright October day in 1964, Lyndon Baines Johnson, 36th President of the United States, squinted into the South Florida sun and declared Florida Atlantic University officially open in his famous Texas drawl. For a sitting U.S. chief executive to officiate a new regional university's dedication was most unusual – but, then, FAU was no ordinary institution of higher learning. From its very inception, FAU was envisioned as the first of a new breed of American universities that would entirely deliberately throw off the ivy-covered trappings of the tradition-bound world of academe and invent new and better ways of making higher education available to those who sought it. Indeed, in his dedication remarks, President Johnson said that America had entered an era "when education is no longer only for the sons of the rich, but for all who can qualify." Speaking on an outdoor stage before a crowd of 15,000, he called for " a new revolution in education." He said that a fully educated American public could vastly enrich life over the next 50 years. Seated on stage behind the President as he spoke was an array of Florida'sFlorida's top political VIPs, including Governor Farris Bryant, U.S. Senators Spessard Holland, and George Smathers, U.S. Congressmen Claude Pepper and Paul Rogers, and a banker named Thomas F. Fleming, Jr., who, more than anybody else, was responsible for bringing America'sAmerica's newest public university to Boca Raton.

In May 1991, then Governor Lawton Chiles signed the legislation authorizing the new university. Southwest Florida’s support for a university was never more evident than during the next year when private landowners offered more than 20 gift sites for the university campus. In early 1992, the Board of Regents selected the site offered by Ben Hill Griffin III and Alico, Inc. of 760 acres of land located just east of Interstate 75 between Alico and Corkscrew Roads.

The four-year graduation rate has steadily risen in recent years as a result of careful and strategic investments in areas such as academic advising, tutoring, and academic coaching.“We decided that student success was our primary goal and the key fulfillment of our mission,” McRorie said. “This success is a return on those investments, which have been major for a university that has the second-lowest state tuition in the country.” Of the freshmen who entered the university in 2013, 68.4 percent graduated in four years. By comparison, only 49.3 percent of first-year students who started at FSU in 2005 graduated in four years.
