      About Me

      1. To serve humanity and make the world a better place to live in via providing a holistic educational system that nurtures innovative future leaders capable of seizing all the opportunities and facing the uncertainties and challenges of our lives. Our philosophy is based on three pillars characterized by Quality-Excellence, Value-based approach, and holistic view. The quality excellence is exemplified by the academic area which relies heavily on strong academic performance provided by well-selected teachers and staff. This excellence spills over students’ experience, research, and teaching, faculty and staff support in addition to communication. The values-based approach is apparent via the students’ character students at Saint – Georges is developed and nurtured holistically to realize their full potential. The holistic view is revealed by the extra-curricular activities which provide a plethora of opportunities to be seized by students based on the belief that such activities shape and build the positive attitude of our students and put the real world in perspective. This contributes to putting the theoretical framework into practice. In addition to these pillars we are committed to the following in our educational approach: Fostering the moral values of students in an environment characterized by its diversity. Providing dedicated, passionate, and qualified principals and teachers. Cultivating respect for the environment and all its resources. Helping students to exercise their full potential through empowerment and working on their potential. Emphasizing analytical and creative thinking as a means to preparing students for the workplace and life. Producing students proficient in English-the lingua franca of our world- while enhancing our students’ verbal and nonverbal communication skills. Cultivating the concept of social responsibility by showing responsibility to all our stakeholders. Cultivating cooperation, teamwork, good health, emotional stability, and maturity and encouraging interest in sports, games, clubs, and social activities. Building the capacity of our faculty and staff via continuous training and development to maintain their core competencies and keep their knowledge updated in a fast pace moving world. Preparing students to be great leaders and positive contributors to their communities and the whole world. Focusing on and engaging in critical contemporary issues. Lucid vision for quality excellence, distinction in teaching and education, and is recognized as an inspiration beacon in our community by preparing citizens who are academically rounded and socially responsible. Our vision aligns with rapid shifts in the global economy, society, and environment, which animate our mission and our values: Creativity, innovation, and a desire to challenge the status quo, both in what and how we teach and in the intellectual ambitions of the School itself. Social engagement, orienting students' academic experience to help them become critically engaged citizens dedicated to solving problems and contributing to the public good. This comes as a consequence of the act that Saint Georges School itself has a sense of citizenship in its community and obligation towards its primary and secondary stakeholders. Over the past tens of years, Saint Georges School has blossomed and gained an edge over other schools operating in the region. Saint Georges School has become recognized for its prestigious reputation and developed a great brand image due to different academic indicators related to the highest levels of success in the Lebanese Baccalaureate Exams and other indicators related to the unique culture developed at our School. Saint Georges School contains 58 classrooms, well-equipped science labs, a library, a fully equipped playground, a sports court, and up-to-date computer labs which comprise the resources utilized by our faculty, staff, and students. This is accompanied by highly competent human capital which is the cornerstone of any success. The emphasis in our schools is on producing a first-class education in a secure environment where the students’ development is always monitored and assessed by a group of well-educated teachers and professors. Saint Georges School offers Arabic, English, and French programs in addition to special Arabic programs for foreign students, Special Needs programs, and Health Services by MediSchool. The school staff comprises teachers with a wide scope of expertise and academic accomplishments, selected based on EEO (equal employment opportunity) standards. This enthusiastic team of teachers and administrative staff seeks to stimulate independence of thoughts, knowledge, and well-balanced education. Our faculty and staff are periodically trained and professionally developed to keep pace with the changing environment in which they operate and provide our students with the latest academic trends. The system of education provided by our School is based on the following approach: The most important aspect of the approach is the attitude of the teacher, where teaching is in a form of play that fosters the blossoming of the child’s natural development. Learning can and should be made interesting, enjoyable, and fun. A large portion of the teaching materials is produced at the school by the teachers, who customize their teaching aids to suit the interests and knowledge levels of the students. Children learn spontaneously when their interests and curiosity are awakened. Teaching is confined to brief periods according to the natural attention span of each child, which is normally 15-30 minutes daily during the first two years. It is never extended beyond the child’s span interest. The act of teaching consists primarily of exploring and using sensory images, objects, and information given to the child pleasantly and interestingly and permitting him/her to observe and inquire about the subject, without compelling him/her to memorize. Colored flashcards with large images are utilized as convenient low-cost teaching aids. Rapid acquisition of basic reading and verbal skills in multiple languages occurs naturally by exposing the child to whole words as objects repetitively for very brief periods. In this manner, at a young age, even children of illiterate parents learn several languages as effortlessly as they normally learn to speak their native tongue. Storytelling is used to make learning fun and to share basic values of goodness, beauty, harmony, responsibility, and right conduct. Observation and Language are used to create a personal bond between the teacher and students which is rich, immediate, and enduring. Information on people and other living things, places, history, geography, and other cultures are presented to the child in the form of stories, pictorial information and explanations combined to present facts in a living, integrated context rather than as a series of separate divorced subjects. Rapid acquisition of basic math skills is achieved through the use of the number line method which enables the child to physically experiment and act out different combinations of addition and subtraction. The Pre-school is a three to five years cycle consisting of English Programs along with Arabic taught as a complementary part. This cycle is divided into 3 classes which are nursery, Kg I, and Kg II. The Pre-school is guided by early childhood education which is an essential building block that enhances the growth and development of the whole child. The Preschool curriculum includes Language Arts, Creative Arts, Reading and Writing Arts, Poems, Sciences, Math, Music, Story, Drama, Puppets, and Physical Education. Students are encouraged to become active and independent learners, critical and creative thinkers, responsible adults, and team players. Students are allowed to construct meaning from their own varied learning experiences. Saint Georges School works as a family where parents and children cooperate to create a healthy, positive, and rewarding learning environment for the child. Saint Georges Pre-School Area is a place for young children to discover, explore, investigate, experiment, and enjoy learning. The primary section at Saint Georges School offers a high quality of education in a supportive and thoughtful environment. It allows students to express themselves and promotes a positive attitude towards creativity. Students are actively engaged in the learning process through the use of different resources and facilities provided to aid teaching methodologies. Our students are also involved in different activities in which they can relate knowledge to their personal experiences or daily interactions. The secondary section at Saint Georges School provides an education that enables an individual to acquire knowledge, skills, habits, attitudes, and values necessary for a successful performance of his responsibilities as a citizen and a rewarding personal life. 3. At MICDS, we strive to live into our bold Mission as we cultivate students who are equipped with academic, social, and emotional intelligence. We shape future leaders who can contribute to a more positive, successful, global society by growing the skills and strengths unique to them as individuals. At MICDS, we strive each day to uplift our bold Mission as we prepare the whole person with the intellectual, social/emotional, and leadership skills they need to be successful and positive contributors to a diverse, global, and rapidly changing society. Below are the ways we—together as school administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and students—bring our Mission to life. We teach students to become resilient self-advocates who are developing into their best selves as they pursue academic excellence, individual achievement, and meaningful collaboration within the community. They acquire the skills to do so through our college preparatory curriculum, advisory, homeroom, enrichment programming, media literacy training, hands-on learning, and co-curricular activities such as athletics, the arts, reading and science groups, and other student activities. Through all of these outlets, we partner with parents and empower students to embody virtues such as respect, honesty, and integrity as they prepare to become confident and responsible citizens in the world they will inherit. We cultivate a learning environment in which all students, faculty, staff, and parents are valued, affirmed, and included as equal members of the community, embracing and celebrating race, color, religion, family structure, national or ethnic origin, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, and gender identity. In addition to celebrating the diversity among us at MICDS, we also prepare our students to become culturally competent as they learn to thrive in a diverse world. Foundational to that preparation involves self-awareness, embracing difference, critical thinking, personal responsibility, and treating others with respect and dignity. In particular, we strive to impart compassion and empathy. We foster a life of discovery, where students pursue their passions in and out of the classroom. Through a variety of classroom and co-curricular activities, students explore their curiosities, innovate, develop a sense of agency and learn the necessary skills and awareness to be thoughtful and ethical leaders. In addition, they work toward advancing the greater good through service to others, in and throughout our MICDS community, locally, domestically, and abroad. At MICDS, we empower students to be upstanders, rather than bystanders. This means they become individuals who take a stand for their values in a respectful way. They speak up when those values are compromised or threatened, and they commit to holding themselves, their peers, and leadership accountable for good and right actions and behavior. We encourage members of the community to report any issues or infractions directly and immediately to an MICDS faculty member or an administrator. Furthermore, we ask students to do what is good and right, not just for them or their gain, but for the whole of the community, thinking especially about those who are most vulnerable. The excellence of an MICDS education is evidenced by the success of our alumni and the scholarship of our faculty and students. At MICDS, we offer challenging academic programs facilitated by educators who are innovative thinkers and leaders and who prepare students to develop academic and personal achievements beyond the classroom. 4. Over the past 50 years, Saint Ann’s has embraced a commitment to education for its own sake, oriented to the capacities of each student, free of the encumbrances of formal grading. At the same time, we are unabashedly committed to excellence in all that we do. The lives of our graduates, their achievements as dancers and doctors, poets and physicists, musicians and mathematicians, speak powerfully to the potential of education based on these principles to ignite a passion for learning and to sustain creative energy in every field of endeavor. We accomplish this by offering talented students instruction shaped by creative and dedicated faculty, forming a true community of learners from pre-Kindergarten through high school. We invite you to sample on this site the ingredients we offer to students with insatiable appetites for learning and creating. We believe education is a rich, subtle exploration and questioning of the world, not a means to an end. Since 1965 Saint Ann’s School has brought together gifted children and passionate teachers in a fierce pursuit of knowledge, skill, and artistry. We cultivate a joy for learning through a deep and rigorous curriculum, in which the arts are an essential presence. So that every child will flourish, we eschew grades, rankings, and prizes in favor of ongoing dialogue and teacher reports. At Saint Ann’s we offer our dreams to those who will share theirs with us. The primary aim of the visual arts program is to elicit from students the most powerful and expressive work possible. This requires profound thought, an enlarging sensibility, and a broader understanding of experience. We aim to help students invent pictorial and plastic activities to carry this wealth of feeling and thought into a comprehensible artistic representation. In the Preschool and Lower School, the Art Department aims to familiarize the children with a wide range of materials, techniques, and pictorial concepts. We consciously differentiate our studio program from the extensive visual work carried out within the individual classrooms. Along with thematic-based projects, the children enter the ‘art studio’ to become fluent with the ‘language’ of image and object making, to understand the ‘instinctive’ nature of the artistic process, and to become more aware of their own unique ‘vision.’ In Middle School, more sophisticated concepts and techniques are introduced, with a continuing emphasis on drawing, painting, and object making. Along with the continued reinforcement of pictorial and compositional fundamentals (texture, form, rhythm, color), contextual, poetic, and conceptual notions are explored. Building skills are expanded through work in plaster, clay, cardboard, and wood. Ultimately, students find their relationship to art through the viewing, discussing, and making of artworks. 5. Since 1885, Saint Thomas Academy has developed leaders guided by an honorable moral compass. Our Catholic foundation, ongoing campus ministry activities, service learning opportunities, and academic requirements in theology and community service will shape your son’s character and beliefs. This, combined with our military leadership curriculum and applied leadership opportunities within the Corps of Cadets, fosters teamwork, mentorship, and servant leadership among all cadets. Throughout our history, the cadets of Saint Thomas Academy have been well-served by the foundation that is unique to the Academy: all-boys, Catholic, college prep, and military leadership. Saint Thomas Academy boasts a 10:1 student-faculty ratio and small class sizes, allowing faculty time to work with your son individually, ensuring he is encouraged and challenged academically. Each week, faculty have scheduled tutoring hours after the regular school day and before after-school activities begin when they can help students who may have a simple question or need personalized instruction. Our manageable size means everyone at the Academy takes an interest in your son’s development. We all embrace our mission of developing boys into young men of character and know this is best realized in partnership with each other, with the boys, and with parents. The Academy’s unique all-male environment fosters an inimitable bond of brotherhood. And yet, your son will have ample opportunity to explore his individual interests through coursework and co-curricular activities, such as the world-renowned Experimental Vehicle Team, top-ranked athletics, or the prestigious Model UN. We will ask a lot academically of your son and provide the support he needs to succeed. Our dedicated faculty are passionate about teaching boys and have tailored their courses to the ways boys learn best. They will help your son develop the skills he needs for college and beyond through hands-on applications, interactive exercises, and creative instruction. Because of our small class sizes, faculty can devote themselves to one-on-one support if your son should need it. For more than 130 years, the Saint Thomas Academy community of students, parents, faculty, and alumni has prepared young men to succeed in college and life in an environment shaped by the message of Jesus Christ. Saint Thomas Academy’s tradition, discipline, and spirit influence the life of a young man long after graduation. Our mission – to develop boys into men of character – is our promise to our students, our families, our community, and the world. We accomplish this through the transformative power of an educational and life experience deeply rooted in Catholic faith and traditions, academic excellence, military leadership, and an all-male environment. Students at Saint Thomas Academy immerse themselves in their studies with great energy and extreme focus. From the beginning of the day until the evening hours, our classrooms, hallways, labs, and learning center buzz with discussion, experiment, and learning. In our curriculum, your son will learn broad genres of literature and writing, develop skills in basic algebra to calculus, and further his understanding of religion. At Saint Thomas Academy, every boy is pushed to reach his full potential and find his passion. The work of creating a community of inclusion that respects individuals is an essential element of the Saint Thomas Academy mission and its values. Diversity activities often challenge assumptions, habits, and long-held beliefs and habits, and they ask all groups to recognize their similarities and celebrate their differences. Saint Thomas Academy is committed to fostering diversity in its student body, faculty, and staff, as a core value of the school community. Saint Thomas Academy encourages respect for individuality and believes in the importance of community. Therefore, Saint Thomas Academy calls students to standards of academic achievement, behavior, and dress that are conducive to self-discipline, respect for others, and sound moral conduct. 6. Our school began in 1955 as a small elementary school committed to developing the individual potential within each child entrusted to our care. Because of our unwavering dedication to doing what is best for our students, that small elementary school has grown to become the premier pre-K through 12th-grade school in Central Alabama. Our teachers provide the strongest and most complete college preparatory curriculum within a caring and supportive learning community. Our commitment to caring for and inspiring the best in each Saint James student has guided us for 60 years, and that will continue to illuminate our path as we look ahead to the future. Without question, the most valuable years of education and formation for a student are the years that he or she learns, grows, and develops between pre-Kindergarten and 12th grade. In those critical formative years, a child develops and grows into a young adult. By the time that student heads to college, the foundation that he or she possesses will largely determine the trajectory of the rest of his or her life. In their years at Saint James, our students are mentored to discover their talents, while sharpening their intellectual abilities and forming their character. Saint James graduates possess a sure foundation and are well equipped to go out into the world and make the most of the opportunities and challenges lying ahead. We welcome you to come to visit Saint James and meet our students and teachers. As you walk across our beautiful collegiate-style campus and pass through the halls where students and teachers are engaged in a vibrant learning community, you will see why Saint James School has been recognized as the top private school in Montgomery, Alabama. Saint James is an independent, nonsectarian, college preparatory school with a student body broadly representative of college-bound students. We are committed to challenging and assisting students in realizing their potential and preparing them for lives of responsibility, service, and achievement. At Saint James School, we believe: Education is the catalyst for success in a child's life. Every child can learn. Every child should be treated with respect and dignity. The school recognizes the individuality of each student and appreciates his or her unique assets, attributes, skills, interests, and needs. Students have different learning styles that can be met through different modes of teaching. Students should be stretched academically to grow intellectually and be prepared for college and leadership roles in the future. Our educational program provides students with opportunities to develop maturity, self-confidence, skills, and knowledge preparing them to attain their highest level of individual potential. Saint James School promotes the intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and cultural development of our students. Our instructional program must reflect the changing social, economic, political, and technological environments in which the students live. Every discipline has a body of knowledge that must be taught and skills that must be mastered. Cultural diversity is an important goal for Saint James School. 10. St. Francis is located in the north of Rome. Our school is a special place, and we are energized by the opportunity of partnering with parents to educate our children. Four beliefs guide our work. We believe in the intellectual, emotional, physical, creative, social, and developmental needs and unique abilities of each child. We believe in helping each child develop self-confidence, self-respect, and self-reliance as essential ingredients for learning. We believe in developing students’ respect and responsibility for their natural, social, and educational environment. We believe students who have a meaningful connection to diverse nationalities will help create a world in which cooperation, tolerance, and kindness prevail. St. Francis is composed of a caring group of teachers and support staff. We strive to create an environment where students feel safe, comfortable, and respected. The School aims to provide a sound education in respect of the values of tolerance, solidarity, trust, and integrity, in a safe, and positive environment. Here each child can attain his or her full potential academically, physically, emotionally, and socially within a small caring atmosphere. Children are encouraged to be responsible, caring, aware, and proud. Politeness, courtesy, and good behavior are of the utmost importance. We are committed to providing a challenging educational environment that encourages high performance in a nurturing atmosphere characterized by dignity and respect for diverse religions and cultures. We believe in the uniqueness of each child and the importance of the early years in developing the child’s positive self-image, establishing language skills, and encouraging creativity. We are certain that children learn by being involved in the learning process and by exploring the world around them with teachers who are sensitive to their needs. This Philosophy reflects the belief that the process of learning is as important as the end product. The curriculum focuses not only on the acquisition of knowledge but also on the development of thinking and problem-solving. The social studies curriculum covers both history and geography in the elementary years. It is also important that the students cover a unit theme in ‘community’. The curriculum provides the opportunity to prepare students with the skills for a socially, politically, economically, and geographically changing world where understanding, knowledge, and interdependence are essential. Saint Francis students gain experience with many different forms and principles of art. We aim to help the children realize how art can be experienced both as an expressive form of oneself, and a reflection of the world about us- past, present, and future. Artwork is often incorporated into other parts of the curriculum and contributes to a deeper understanding of a topic. Children also go on school trips to exhibitions and museums to broaden their experience of the art world. The year culminates in the ‘sfis artfest’ which involves each class working with an overall given theme. Each child will complete both an individual piece and a group/ class art piece. Parents are invited to view the students’ work at the international picnic. View full school
