      3. We are a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) magnet residential high school for scholars in grades 9-12 who enjoy stretching their brains in new and challenging directions. Our students hail from across the state of Maine and around the world. They come for an inquiry, camaraderie, and a unique high school experience. Here students, staff, and faculty engage in energetic intellectual sparring served up with encouragement and support. Why Limestone? Following the 1994 closure of Loring Air Force Base, the Maine State Legislature chartered and funded the Maine School of Science and Mathematics (MSSM) at the site of the Limestone High School. MSSM also acquired the former nearby elementary school and promptly converted it to a 150-bed dormitory. The fall of 2017 saw the first time we hosted our varsity athletic program independent from the Limestone Eagles, LCS, as they recently merged with Caribou High School. The MSSM Penguins enjoy two varsity level athletic teams in all three seasons, both boys and girls. The inaugural fall season bodes well for our scholar-athletes as both soccer teams qualified for the play-offs while several of the cross-country runners advanced to the State meet. Some twenty-plus years later (we hosted our first reunion, the 20th, in 2016) MSSM continues to prepare its students for admission to the world’s top universities and colleges, and we enjoy a hundred percent placement rate year after year. Although a majority of our graduates enter STEM-related fields, all disciplines are being represented. It is fascinating to learn of our alumni’s multi-faceted passions that lead them around the globe but, thankfully, many find their way back to the State of Maine. Throughout the years, MSSM continues to rank strongly in such publications as US News and World Report. As a member of the National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools (NCSSS), MSSM strives to remain current in STEM education. The Maine School of Science and Mathematics (MSSM) brings together and helps a group of Maine's most academically motivated high school students become innovative, well-rounded scholars with the ability to develop, investigate, and communicate critical ideas that improve the human condition and benefit the state of Maine. The school builds and shares a rigorous curriculum that exceeds state educational standards while emphasizing connections between science, mathematics, and the humanities. MSSM extends its mission by fostering a statewide, year-round community of innovative learners that includes many of Maine's students, educators, and the general public. MSSM achieves its mission by: Providing a rigorous, immersive, student-centered curriculum that emphasizes the connections between math, science, and the humanities including post-AP courses and culminating in opportunities for authentic research and community service. Presenting students with supportive opportunities to realize their personal and professional aspirations in Maine both through nurturing, challenging on-campus programs and through partnerships with research and higher education institutions throughout the state and beyond. Creating a supportive, residential environment and academic community that promotes personal development, leadership, service, and academic success. Developing special programs to inspire younger students while also serving as a professional development partner for Maine’s teaching community. The administration, faculty, staff, and Board of Trustees of the Maine School of Science and Mathematics (MSSM) are committed to providing academic excellence to enhance previous student knowledge, as well as to prepare students for future studies. The opportunity to attend MSSM is a privilege, and each student can make the most of this experience by being dedicated to the academic and residential programs. Graduates of MSSM have experienced a well-defined curriculum based upon academic standards fostering both academic discipline and honesty. All students live in residence to fully participate in this scholastic program of excellence with students who share similar interests. The nurturing of this educational community – the integration of the academic and residential components – is crucial to success at MSSM. Students are responsible for taking advantage of the academic and extra-curricular pursuits available at MSSM and for supporting community members in both their academic and personal development. The school is firmly based on the academic standards found in a typical, high-quality British independent school. Moscow International School of Science and Technology (ESS) is a rigorous international university preparatory school specializing in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). ESS is small enough to provide a caring, respectful atmosphere whilst promoting the highest academic achievement. The warm and welcoming school community makes it an ideal place to receive a quality education with a diploma valid for the best Universities around the world. Academic Excellence: the school follows the English National Curriculum of England and Wales with a strong focus on Science and the most innovative approach to teaching methodology. The ESS enriches its program with the best of Russian and international curricula to inspire our students to achieve the highest standards of intellectual and personal development. Students thrive because individual capabilities and learning styles are recognized. Creative and critical thinking are integrated with effective oral and written communication in all classes. Educators emphasize and encourage the meaning and value of community and the joy and importance of lifelong learning. The English School Foundation, (ESF), has founded its International School of Science and Technology in Moscow with the mission to prepare its students to be the leaders of tomorrow. In all aspects of school life, students are encouraged to love learning, live purposefully, and become responsible, contributing citizens of the world. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are crucial for the advancement of civilization. Humanities, world languages, and the fine arts are essential for students to understand and express themselves in the context of the world around them. Research-based education beneficially shapes the adolescent brain. Integrity is fundamental to a responsible and meaningful life. The ethical application of knowledge improves our world. Collaborative and independent learning are both essential for substantive achievement. The habit of excellence can be developed. Education should equip students to contribute positively to society. A healthy body and mind are essential to intellectual development and productive life. Excellent teaching ignites a sense of wonder. We want our students to have well-rounded personalities with independent and inquiring minds, as well as a positive, tolerant, and ethical attitude. By the time our students leave our school, we expect them to have a true sense of confidence and self-worth that will empower them to pursue not only personal interests but also goals that would benefit their community and society at large. The language of instruction at school is English. We have dedicated ESOL teachers that provide extra support to students learning English. We welcome ESOL students from age 3 to 7 years old at our Early Years and Primary school. View full school
      5. The world is changing rapidly, and we are experiencing what many have called the fourth industrial revolution. This revolution is being led by innovations such as artificial intelligence, the internet of things, and big data. These innovations are consuming the world. Rapid globalization has also created more and more complicated international problems. In a further 20 years, the world will be beyond our imagination, and our children will need the abilities and skills to solve problems without clear answers. Although our world is rapidly changing, education at Japanese schools has changed very little in 50 years. That is one of the reasons we decided to open an international science school five years ago and the Laurus International School of Science Primary School last April. As the first and only international school of science in Japan, we promise to devote ourselves to equipping your children with the tools and knowledge they will need to create their own future. Not only will we guide and encourage them to become innovators and leaders, but we will also help them become responsible, contributing members of society during an era of uncertainty. Science does not equal complicated chemical formulas. Children are born scientists, with brimming curiosity, who naturally learn about the world around them. Our curriculum at Laurus International School of Science guides each student by providing opportunities to participate in new, educational experiences. Students are then encouraged to think scientifically by creating a hypothesis and guided to learn by experimentation. Epitomizing the Laurus school ethos, science classes challenge students via stimulating thematic units which encourage children to hypothesize, experiment, and inquire! View full school
      6. Erudio School of Science (ESoS) is a non-formal high school level educational institution that focuses on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Our Vision is to inspire better life through science, technology, engineering, and math education. Our Mission is to create a learning environment that can maximize the potential and uniqueness of each student, nurture creativity, encourage exploration, and guide the self-finding process. At the same time, we aspire to be one of the growth contributors of science, technology, engineering, and math in Indonesia. We believe that every child has the same right as grown-ups to decide everything related to their interests, especially in the learning process. We also believe that students and grown-ups can both be the source of information everyone is a teacher and everyone is a student. That is why we choose a democratic learning environment as our core foundation, to allow the students to grow and learn to be responsible for their own decision. Democratic education infuses the learning process with these fundamental values of our society. Democratic education sees young people not as passive recipients of knowledge, but rather as active co-creators of their learning. They are not the products of an education system but rather valued participants in a vibrant learning community. Democratic education begins with the premise that everyone is unique, so each of us learns differently. By supporting the individual development of each young person within a caring community, democratic education helps young people learn about themselves, engage with the world around them, and become positive and contributing members of society. The academic program at Erudio School of Science emphasizes every aspect of our student’s growth and development. We take advantage of the natural curiosity students to possess by having our teachers present new information in creative ways and teach through exploratory experiences. Our general curriculum includes a variety of challenging courses that meet or exceed state requirements. Suitable class sizes and exceptional, qualified teachers allow Erudio School of Science to offer an intimate and inclusive educational environment, while also ensuring each student receives the individualized attention and support they need. Because everything is project-based, aside from the basic foundations that every student needs to know about science, technology, engineering, and math, everything else is quite fluid. We will give our best to find masters and experts in their respective fields, especially in the area of math and computer science to help the students learn whatever they need to finish their projects. As a benchmark, we are using the National Curriculum of 2013 and Pearson Education's BTEC A and AS Level Diploma in Math, Advanced Math, Computer Science, Advanced Computer Science, and Natural Science to develop the basic sets of topics that the students can choose from. We also provide them with necessary soft skills such as project management, research skills and methods, presentation and communication, and life skills (including how to survive in a city using public transportation, and how to survive a wild with a minimum budget). First, is the National High School Equivalency Program, which is a non-formal school equivalent to a formal high-school diploma. The students will have a choice to take the Natural Science High School Diploma Equivalency or the Social Science High School Equivalency Diploma. Erudio students have been accepted in numerous National (ITB, UI, UGM, etc.) and Private Universities (Binus, UPH, UNPAR, etc.) using these diplomas. Second, we are also a BTEC Center accredited by Pearson Education UK since 2012. We are in the process to get qualified to give A and AS Level 2 and 3, in Math, Advanced Math, Computer Science, Advanced Computer Science, Natural Science, and English Language Diplomas. They can go on to study for a foundation degree, an HND, or a BA degree in many Universities all around the world. View full school
      7. At Heathcote School, no one is left behind. We encourage, challenge, and stretch each pupil through a broad and balanced curriculum, outstanding resources, and high-quality learning experiences ensuring everyone develops resilience leading to success in the classroom and beyond. We include everybody in our vision and support staff and pupils in being self-aware, self-motivated, and independent and create an all-around safe and comfortable experience allowing self-confidence to thrive. This thirst to succeed will ensure learners have bright futures and are ready to meet the demands of the 21st century. We will do this by: Raising standards of achievement for all our pupils. Developing and sharing expertise and resources with local schools and the wider community to foster a spirit of academic partnership in Waltham Forest that is scientific, technological, and vocational. Developing innovative approaches to teaching and learning that will provide models of excellence within the school and wider community. Providing young people with the skills needed to progress into employment, further training, or higher education according to their abilities, aptitudes, and ambitions. This has been a short-term but one packed with achievements throughout the school. We are very proud of so many of our pupils and the positive progress they are making across their subjects and out of the classroom. Just two examples are four of our Year 10 pupils, Tahilah, Joseph, Jessica, and Hussain, who shared their Maths knowledge at an event at Norlington School scoring full marks in one round. The Year 7 and 9 girls’ sports teams have also done amazingly well this term in football and netball. The curriculum is due for review during the year 2017-18 and stakeholders will be consulted. This is to establish a broad and balanced curriculum and to ensure maximum progress for all pupils. Heathcote School offers a broad and balanced curriculum, with clear progression routes for pupils of all abilities through Key Stages 3 to 5. The curriculum over time has evolved to meet the changing demands and needs of our pupils, for example, increased intervention for literacy for identified pupils in Year 7, Study Support for targeted pupils at KS4, and demand-led curriculum at KS4 and KS5. At Heathcote, we personalize and extend our curriculum to meet the needs of individuals and groups of pupils as they progress through the school. Our pupils succeed because we ensure: All pupils have access to a curriculum that supports learning. A strong core means that basic skills are embedded at an early stage so that pupils can access the wider curriculum. We use our specialisms to influence learning opportunities and raise aspirations. The curriculum is inclusive and meets the needs of individual pupils at every Key Stage. ICT is used to enhance teaching and learning. Our pupils have opportunities to develop their spiritual, moral, social, and cultural skills through tutorials and citizenship programs. Healthy lifestyles are promoted. An extended curriculum ensures all pupils have access to catch-up, extension, and enrichment. View full school
      8. East London Science School, a dynamic new secondary school in Bromley-by-Bow. We are about to embark on our fifth year as we approach our first set of GCSE grades in August 2018. This year is about turning dreams into reality. However, even now we still hold to the ideals that we started with. To give every child the best possible education we can offer. We are an exciting, friendly, and ambitious school for both our pupils and parents. We have offered 125 places to pupils starting in September 2017 with a waiting list for places. We work very closely on our admissions with Newham. However, we are not restricted to taking pupils from Newham. Our pupils come to us from across East London including Tower Hamlets. What attracts pupils to the East London Science School is a commitment to deliver a high-quality academic education to all pupils regardless of background or ability. All pupils are given the same demanding curriculum from Year 7 onwards. The focus on science means all pupils receive physics, chemistry, and biology lessons from specialist teachers. Whether it's mathematics, English, languages, the arts, or humanities, pupils receive the same rigorous subject specialist education. We aim to give all our pupils a solid foundation of knowledge which they can draw upon for the rest of their lives. Over the past three years, we have seen our pupils put on two Shakespeare productions, take part in a growing number of sports fixtures and inter-school debating competitions. This alongside their impressive academic performance is already proof enough that they are well on their way to success. Our unique enrichment program has taken pupils on well over 500 trips in the last academic year. With visits to venues as diverse as the Greenwich Observatory and Kings College computer science laboratory. During our Enrichment Fortnight pupils visited the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford. We visited places as far afield as IWM Duxford and Box Hill in Surrey. Our pupils enjoyed residential trips to China, Belgium, New York, and Devon with more planned for next year. We want to open the eyes of every pupil to a whole world of possibilities. We want our pupils’ ambitions to know no limits. We take every opportunity to allow our pupils to hear from leading figures in science and participate in exciting events. Whether it's attending the Royal Society Summer Exhibition or attending New Scientist Live, we want our pupils to find out what it’s like to be involved in science and engineering beyond education. We live in one of the greatest cities in the world. We make sure our pupils have the opportunity to experience everything that London has to offer and more besides. Our enrichment curriculum gives lower school pupils an afternoon out in London every week. Whether they are learning portrait sketching in the Wallace Collection or visiting the Great Equatorial Telescope at Greenwich, it is this first-hand access to such prized venues that sets their imaginations alight. All our girls and boys will receive an excellent academic education which will rival the best on offer in public schools. We aim to give our pupils the confidence to strive for success in everything they do. We will give our pupils a unique space in which their imaginations are set free and given the chance to flourish. All children deserve the best education possible. Education is about more than achieving good grades. We aim to show pupils that ideas have the power to shape the world we live in. We want to instill a love of learning that lasts a lifetime. Good teaching is the best way to open a child’s mind. We expect all our teachers to engage our pupils by intellectually challenging them and bringing knowledge of everything from the sciences, arts, and languages to life. Pupils should be encouraged to nurture their talents and develop new skills. We will foster our pupils’ talents in the arts, sports, and debate to create a space for all our pupils to thrive. Our technical education will give pupils the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in high-tech industries. 19. The establishment of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Sakrand (2nd in Pakistan) chartered by Govt of Sindh on 13th Sep 2012 (SINDH ACT NO. XV OF 2012) is a milestone that will go a long way in the development of livestock sector and socioeconomic status of farming community The University owes to its existence to the foresight and vision of His excellence Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, ex-president Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The livestock sector contributed over 55% of the total contribution of Agriculture to the GDP during the year 2012-2013. The strength of this sector lies in its consistently higher growth rate (4%) than overall of Agriculture sector. The university has been established with the specific objective of the development of the livestock and poultry sector through proper and systematic education, training, research, and extension in modern systems of veterinary and animal sciences and its allied sciences. Such as fisheries, wildlife, range management, silkworm, beekeeping, Dairy and Food Technology, Animal Business Management, Basic Sciences, Humanities, and Information Technology. The need for the inculcation of self-reliance in students for securing coveted placements and addressing the expectations of rural and urban sectors of societies can be met with increased Teaching-Research-Extension linkages. The challenges of keeping abreast with modern trends of Research have been sharpened as well as facilitated on account of the advents of Info-communication Technology (ICT) through which the world has been transformed into a global village. Traditions are good to sustain but new paths are to be searched for growth. This requires innovativeness in ideas and freedom of action. We, as enlightened clans, are expected to convert challenges into opportunities. The problems of livestock production are related to health, genetics, nutrition, and marketing. The young professionals should be capable of improving production and yield through better management of germplasm, nutrition, and disease prevention. The competence of graduates in technologies, value addition in milk, meat, fish, wool, skin, hides, and casings will facilitate equitable development of rural and urban livestock and will help self-reliance, reduced imports, and improvement in exports. While the role of vets as trained biologists is recognized by their contributions in multiple scientific disciplines relevant to WTO, food safety and above all human health, diversification, conservation, and preservation of wildlife, biotechnology, gene sequencing, developing and improving breeds are long-awaited expectations from the veterinarians. To improve and modernize animal entrepreneurship from traditional to the modern farming system through the development of appropriate technologies and research on applied problems. Human resource development to evolve strategies for sustainable development and improvement of animal sector leading to poverty alleviation through food and social security in the country. Human resource development to provide professional manpower for developing livestock and allied sectors. 20. Sarhad University of Science & Information Technology (SUIT), Peshawar, is a renowned name in the educational circles of Pakistan and abroad. It was established in 2001 through an Ordinance of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and is duly recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Since its inception, the University has made commendable achievements in disseminating quality education and, in a short period, it has become a leading institution of higher education in Pakistan. The University offers a wide range of programs from bachelor to doctoral level. These programs are executed through highly qualified and professionally groomed faculty holding Ph.D. degrees from renowned institutions of Pakistan and abroad. The University is dedicated to imparting high-quality education with an emphasis on demand-oriented skill development and training under excellent conditions of learning. Its educational programs are designed to enable the students and servicemen to Develop skills and competence in their respective areas of specialization. Obtain broad-based, cross-functional education with due emphasis on developing critical, analytical, and logical thinking, and knowledge of societal matters. The education is cost-based but affordable. The University is devoted to students' welfare and intends to provide all support and guidance in their pursuit of successful careers and jobs. Sarhad University is committed to the pursuit of truth, the advancement of knowledge, and excellence in academics. At the higher education level, the commitment requires the collaboration of Government, industry, individuals in the country, and global partners. Our vision is to play a key role in research and academic leadership and contribute significantly to disseminating quality education at the tertiary level. The Development of a culture based on integrity, the quest for knowledge, prudence, and social justice is our foremost priority. The mission of Sarhad University is to achieve a good level of academic excellence, which measures favorably on the touchstone of international standards. The University strives to build up a critical mass of highly skilled people capable of playing an effective role in the growth of national and international economies. The University’s educational system is designed in such a way that it encourages traditions, values, tolerance, and enlightenment in our society. The supposed purpose of education, as marketed by academia, is career advancement, higher pay, and empowering a college graduate's job search. This presents the current personal importance of education as the bureaucratic machines are still humming. More degrees, less dignity, more trading, and less teaching have blurred the very purpose of education. We could not even utilize machines or understand the advent of technology. Computers are pack saddled to existing educational models in an inefficient pretense. In many institutes, most technologies are used like hitching horses to a sports car. The horse-drawn car does not compare favorably with traditional horse and buggy. It doesn't matter if the modern conveyance is an ignorant or intentional misapplication it will be better to properly enjoy car and horse separately. At any age, college degrees as requirements are replaceable but independent thinkers and visionary leaders are not. Cultivating a love for learning should become imperative for success instead of a desire to earn more and more for the kitchen. Sarhad University of Science & Information Technology has succeeded in achieving that very objective for which it was established in the year 2001 and that is no doubt bridging the gap between the knowledge gained through academic learning, and the dynamic skills required in the industry, business, government organizations, and other areas of society. Since its inception, the University has passed through numerous ups and downs, but with the grace of Almighty ALLAH, and untiring efforts of the management and faculty, we not only successfully overcame the obstacles and hurdles in our way but also kept the University on the path of progress and development. Today our graduates are effectively serving various Multi-National Companies and Organizations at Provincial and National levels in different capacities, whereas many joined foreign universities for higher studies. The University is striving to provide relevant and purposeful education to its existing students preparing them to confront challenges in this competitive world. Sarhad University is not just addressing the issues of the professional environment such as purpose-built campus, air-conditioned classrooms, and well-equipped laboratories but, more importantly, it is concentrating on the most critical issues like faculty development, curricula tailored to the latest innovations and present-day demands, quality enhancement, effective teaching and evaluation, and character building.
