It is not merely doing good, but rather doing what will better or more effectively reveal God's active presence in our work and our world. Discerning what is better is always an essential principle of our decision-making. Academic Excellence - In 1547, the first Jesuits were invited to begin a college in Messina, Italy, to allow the young men to receive the same quality of education that the early Jesuits promoted in training their own. Georgetown University is a descendant of this original commitment to education. Academic excellence describes the great importance that we have placed on the mind's life as a means for uncovering truth and discovering meaning. Georgetown's emphasis on academic excellence is reflected in our faculty and students' careful selection, the quality of teaching, and the importance of research on campus. It has led to our recognition as one of the top 25 universities in the United States. Educating the Whole Person - St. Ignatius believed that God could be discovered in every human endeavor, in every facet of learning and experience, and every field of study. He promoted the development of each person's spiritual, intellectual, artistic, social, and physical aspects. Georgetown's commitment to educating the whole person is evident in our strong core curriculum, our wide array of academic programs, and our commitment to living and learning in spiritual communities. Faith and Justice - The Jesuits made a significant institutional commitment to "the service of faith and the promotion of justice," which obligates us to address the social realities of poverty, oppression, and injustice. While not all Georgetown community members would base their commitment to justice on religious principles, our institutional commitment to promote justice in the world grounds and inspires numerous University projects with the world's underserved communities. Interreligious Understanding - The Georgetown University community comprises a wide variety of religious traditions; we support various faith-based student groups, a variety of affiliated ministries, and numerous interreligious events and services. Also, the University sponsors the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, the Program for Jewish Civilization, the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs, and the Catholic Studies Program. The community in Diversity - The Georgetown community welcomes and sustains rich diversity among our students, faculty, and staff. Approximately 52 percent of our student body are women, 22 percent of our undergraduate students are from a minority ethnic background, and over 2,000 students, faculty, and researchers come from 130 foreign countries. At Qatar's campus, the students comprise about 50 different nationalities from a diverse variety of faiths and cultural backgrounds.

Construction of the building took one year and ten months to complete and cost USD 150 million. The Texas A&M Engineering Building is more than 55,000 sq. meters or 595,000 sq. feet. It consists of two distinct parts, research, and an academic wing. Please click the image to view the virtual tour. The main entrance to the Texas A&M Engineering Building features a solid bronze door. Metal Artwork in Saudi Arabia, a company famous for designing palace doors, produced the door. The door weighs 2.5 tons, and when the main entrance was being completed, the door had to be installed in one piece by forklift. The gigantic door reflects the greatness of what is happening inside. The student lounge is divided into two areas, one for male students and one for female students. Each room has a plasma TV with the latest in gaming technology. The student lounge's common area contains large tables for group study, as well as two foosball tables for when a quick break from studying is needed. 15. Guided by our vision, mission, and values, we are committed to excellence in education that nurtures the intellectual and personal development of our students. Education at QAW embraces an inquiry-based, culturally enriched international curriculum. Our talented teachers go above and beyond to achieve QAW’s vision, encouraging and guiding our students to discover, learn and think creatively. Teachers collaborate and work across subject areas to develop students’ academic skills, inspire inquiry and foster a love for learning. Our students are provided with opportunities to reach their potential and become competent, independent, and responsible individuals who are effective members of the global community. With the support of the Qatar Foundation, our committed Board of Governance, our professional staff of teachers and administrators, we have the expertise to ensure that all our programs are continuously meeting the needs of our students and enhancing their learning experiences. Since the school first opened in 2011, QAW continues to further develop its programs, curriculum, and facilities. We continue to add one grade level every year and hire highly specialized staff to meet the demands of our expansion. We have ambitious plans for the future, yet we never lose sight of what is most important, our students. At the heart of all our planning is student learning. As the QAW community continues to focus on always putting students first, we will be able to fulfill the QAW vision and mission, and our promise to students and their families. Qatar Academy Al Wakra is a private, bilingual, coeducational school that serves its local community by developing students who are critical thinkers, life-long learners, globally-minded responsible citizens that are of the highest academic caliber and grounded in high moral values and cultural integrity. Stallions are the mascot of QAW. The mascot name, “STALLIONS” is an acronym with each letter representing the values that are embodied in QAW students, staff, and community. To achieve our mission of providing the highest possible standards of education that help each student achieve excellence and develop as an independent critical thinker, a lifelong learner, and a responsible citizen, QAW has embedded the teaching, modeling, and practice of “Stallions” values into daily practice. QAW recognizes that all students learn through different modalities and at different rates. Learning Support (LS) services at QAW are designed to address the individual strengths and needs of each child and maximize students’ learning potential. We have Arabic and English speaking staff in the LS department to facilitate the needs of students learning in a dual immersion language program. The LS team provides support in academics, social-emotional development, and health. In addition to providing direct student services, LS staff provides professional development and resources to all staff as well as parents. To reach its vision of providing the highest possible standards of education where students can develop to their full potential to positively impact their community and the world, QAW has implemented the Response to Intervention (RTI) model, which integrates assessment and intervention within a multi-level prevention system to maximize student achievement and to reduce behavior problems. With RTI, schools identify students at risk for poor learning outcomes, monitor student progress, provide evidence-based interventions and adjust intensity and nature to those interventions depending on a student’s responsiveness, and identify students with learning disabilities or other disabilities.

There’s much more to a GEMS education than just great schools that set a benchmark for quality education. Every one of our schools is built on the same core values that encourage every GEMS student, regardless of their age, to develop a social conscience and become active members of their global community. Your child’s education is incredibly precious, which is why we want to talk with you about what makes us special. Last year we completed a self-study and prepared reports to send to the accrediting agencies. This year we will receive a visit from a team of evaluators from these agencies. They will come to review our processes and procedures and make recommendations for any improvements. We look forward to welcoming them to QAD. This is our fourth year of implementing the Middle School model in our community. We provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum for students in grades 6 – 8. Our teachers are specifically trained to teach the students in the middle grades, and we have a robust co-curricular program designed to meet their needs beyond the classroom. 18. Philippine schools overseas (PSOs) are duly registered educational institutions operating outside the Philippines and implementing the basic education curriculum of the Department of Education (DepEd). PSOs are required to comply with the requirements and regulations of the government of the Philippines and the host countries. A valid permit to operate from the host country is required before applying for accreditation from the Philippine DepEd. PSOs are established to address the educational needs of children of Filipinos overseas, and eventually facilitate their reintegration into the Philippine educational system upon their return to the Philippines. The schools also provide a venue for the teaching and propagation of the Filipino culture and heritage among Filipino youth overseas and serve as a locus for Filipino community activity. As of May 2011, there are forty-one (41) PSOs in ten (10) countries – Bahrain, China, East Timor, Greece, Kuwait, Libya, Oman, Qatar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Of these schools, thirty-five (35) have Certificates of Recognition or Government Permits issued by the Philippine DepEd and six (6) have provisional permits. There is an estimated 27,500 students currently enrolled in PSOs at various levels, from pre-elementary, elementary, and high school. The vital role of these schools in the education of children of Filipinos overseas calls for certain standards of management and operation. The IACPSO formulates the policies and procedures governing the establishment, management, and operation of such schools. The IACPSO was established in February 1995 and strengthened through Executive Order No. 252 dated 05 May 2000. It is co-chaired by the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
