In 1841, the Egyptian-Ottoman settlement was set up to set the limits of the political project that strove for Ahlam Mohamed's ambitions to put an end to the army's size and exploit the state's hand in managing the economy. The state became no longer needed. Then Mohammed saw a review of the educational system by the new situation. Mail credit completed the integration of the Egyptian economy in the European economy, resolving specialized agricultural production status in Egypt.
  7. Established in 1976, The British International School, Cairo is one of Egypt's leading academic institutions. It is renowned for the quality of its education, the care it gives to its pupils, and the sheer breadth of student achievement. As a not-for-profit, coeducational day school, BISC is committed to excellence in international education through a broad, balanced, and progressive curriculum. The School has 950 students with a diverse range of social backgrounds, creeds, and cultures, as our web pages seek to celebrate and convey. BISC was the first school in Egypt to be inspected by the ISI, and the first to have been accredited by the IAPS. The Board of Directors determines the aims and overall conduct of The British International School, Cairo. In conjunction with the Principal, it sets and reviews the policies, plans, and procedures that will ensure the best possible education for present and future pupils. The British International School Cairo is a not-for-profit school with charitable status. It is owned by a perpetual trust of current parents who are members of The British International School Society (BISS). Board members are elected by and responsible to the BISS, by its constitution. Officials from the Ministry of Social Affairs oversee the BISS AGM and independent auditors regulate the Society’s financial affairs. Communication with parents occurs via the AGM, direct bulletins, and through a dedicated email address. To fulfill their responsibilities the Board relies on a secretary to administer meetings, to prepare minutes, etc. for its full board and its sub-committees. There are several Committees each with its own Chairman. The Finance Sub-Committee (FSC) looks at the School’s financial performance and how funds can be made available for fulfilling the School's development aspirations. The FSC meets termly. The Education Sub-Committee (ESC) receives reports about the School’s academic performance and extra-curricular activities and spends time considering the quality of teaching and learning. The ESC meets monthly. The full board also meets termly though there may be additional, special meetings during the year. Their key function, collectively, is to set and monitor the aims of the School and to receive reports from the committees for additional discussion. Please view our current Board members under Our Community/Our Directors.
  8. The British School in Cairo has come a long way since its establishment back in August 2004. It has grown in so many ways – in physical size, in the facilities on campus, in the number of pupils on roll (which has tripled to more than a thousand), and in reputation in the local community. Many of us who have been honored to participate in the School’s journey since then is justifiably proud of its various achievements. We have now started to see pupils who spent a decade or so at the School graduate and enter top universities and competitive faculties, either in Egypt or overseas, many of them with full scholarships. It has been gratifying to see how pupils have flourished at the British School in Cairo over the years, not only academically, but also socially, physically, and culturally. They have had the opportunity to take part in a rich array of sporting, citizenship, and extra-curricular activities, such as trips in Egypt and overseas, camps, musical shows, debates, and concerts. Our pupils continue to be at the heart of our concerns and our decision-making. We are proud of our reputation of having some of the most pleasant and best-behaved cohorts of pupils in any school and wish to remain selective in our intake and to retain the highest standards of ethics and behavior at all times. Levels of academic achievement continue to increase over the years, with some year groups having 100 percent of their pupils at or above the year group target in core skills, despite a vast majority of second-language learners. The Senior Leadership of the school, including many dedicated and long-serving Key Stage Heads, also aims to strengthen relationships with our parent base, including via the new Foundation Parent Workshops and Key Stage One events held this year. It is our passionate belief that our youngsters deserve the very best, fully rounded international education possible to equip them not only for university and the workplace but also to shape their characters and build their cultural, sporting, and other interests and values, as well as general life skills. We aim to ignite their inbuilt passion and thirst for new knowledge and skills and inspire them with a lifetime love of learning. Only in that way, will they truly face the new and fast-changing demands of coming decades and develop into leaders and pioneers in their own right. BSC aims to offer a high standard of education to both Egyptian and international students in Cairo, through the adoption of the main principles of teaching and learning reflected in the National Curriculum of England. We aspire to be an outstanding educational organization by: Striving for excellence Meeting international standards of best practice in all aspects of the educational process Empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes which will enable them to explore hidden talents, and experiment, question, observe and apply what they are learning at their own pace and in their way Establishing and maintaining a school culture in which every student and staff member is valued, esteemed, and encouraged Creating a work environment where teachers are motivated to teach with passion and make continuous improvement in the quality of their teaching. Students at BSC are constantly challenged to excel and achieve to the best of their potential. Our challenging curriculum is tailored to the individual needs, strengths, and interests of each student. Through the recognition and development of their strengths and talents, our students will learn actively through student-centered approaches and will develop their skills, and be encouraged to achieve learner autonomy. Students at BSC become active learners and researchers, who are encouraged to make scholarship and the development of new skills a lifetime habit. We are dedicated to the development of the student as an active learner, a collaborator, and a citizen of his/ her community and the world. Our students will develop a sense of self-worth and self-discipline. We believe that parent involvement is vital to the well-being of students and the school. A British education differs from other systems of education in some key aspects. A key aim is to develop a deep understanding of the subject matter, rather than relying on a large amount of rote learning of facts. Although tests and assessments do take place regularly, there is no “monthly test” as such and, indeed, teaching excessively to the test, rather than highlighting learning for the sake of learning, is frowned upon.
  9. Webpages around the world may be similar, but if ours encourages you to visit us in person and take a tour, we guarantee that you will be impressed with our facilities, and more importantly, how we use them. But a school is much more even than facilities, and what makes NCBIS so special, is our student body a vibrant, dynamic, inquisitive, hard-working, creative, and extremely motivated group of young people who are a joy to be with and to teach, and who graduate as “world-class scholars and more importantly first-class citizens”. While undoubtedly Cairo possesses many fine International Schools, NCBIS in New Cairo, is unique in its ethos and internationalism. As a “not for profit organization”, 100% of the fees are reinvested into the school allowing a continual upgrade of facilities and equipment, keeping us at the cutting edge of IB World Schools in the Middle East and beyond. Currently, 63 nationalities are represented at NCBIS, and by our NGO status, we must maintain at least 60% expatriate student body, which provides that immediate international identity. It can be felt as soon as you enter the campus with a multilingual “welcome” followed by a parade of the flags of many of our most representative nationalities. Once inside the school, that all-important international-mindedness becomes even more apparent as you can’t but help notice students mixing, conversing contentedly in the playground language of English, and integrating into the “one family” that we are so keen to maintain. International-mindedness is one of the key attributes of both the Student and Teacher “Learner Profile” and at NCBIS it is a key component of everything we aim for. Our school is incredibly welcoming and it is the first thing that new students comment on. We work hard to keep it that way too, providing each new student with a buddy and monitoring their integration closely. We also encourage parents to join our wonderful Parents’ Group to work closely with the school on joint initiatives, as well as to socialize both within and outside school. The group organizes regular coffee mornings, lectures, social activities, and dances and is instrumental in coordinating traditional and much-acclaimed events like Halloween and International Day. Together with the Parents’ group we also organize charity fund-raising days for our CAS groups and an annual Family Day which is the highlight of the year’s calendar. Finally, we wouldn’t be a family if we didn’t keep in touch with our alumni, sharing and celebrating their successes at university and beyond, inviting them back to tour their second home, sharing anecdotes and inspirational messages with our student body, and of course, marveling at our constant change and upgrading. We meet them in school, at universities, and will even seek them out overseas! Well, they are our extended family and NCBIS is so much more than a “school”! The NCBIS mission is to provide a learning environment that supports academic achievement whilst promoting personal growth through the attributes of the IB Learner profile, within a caring international community committed to the traditional values of honesty, courtesy, respect, integrity, and fair play. In 2021 NCBIS is an international school of renown that provides an education of excellence by which students are prepared for a rapidly changing world where skills, values, attitudes, and attributes are as important as knowledge. This education enables students to fulfill their academic, sporting, and artistic potential and develop a positive and creative mindset that enables them to achieve success at school and in later life. This is achieved in a happy atmosphere and safe and stimulating physical environment that is conducive to academic learning as well as personal and social growth. NCBIS will continue to be celebrated for its warm and caring ethos and its positive contribution to a sustainable and just world. Our Primary school students follow the Primary Years Programme (PYP), a course of study that ‘prepares students to be active participants in a lifelong journey of learning. The Dutch stream, an integral part of our school history and culture, also bases their curriculum on the PYP but modify it where necessary. In Key Stage 3, the first three years of secondary school, we offer the English National Curriculum leading to the IGCSE / GCSE examinations in Key Stage 4. Our senior students have the opportunity to take the prestigious IB Diploma, an internationally renowned program of study that opens the doors to the best universities in the UK and around the world. None of this would be possible without teachers of the highest caliber, recruited from the best UK and international schools worldwide. In all our endeavors we are fortunate to receive tremendous parental support. We foster a sense of community and understand that positive home-school links are key to our success. We proudly celebrate our successes but at the same time, we are proactive and forward-looking and realize that change and improvement must be constant.

In addition to a strong academic program and a highly supportive athletic and artistic system, all students will have the opportunity to become involved in our special Community Service Projects and make a difference in the lives of less fortunate people. It is our aim that students leave the college as their best self, with a strong sense of confidence and identity, able to cope with the challenges of a fast-moving world with confidence and courage regardless of the path they choose to take. Helping students reach their potential is our primary goal. We look forward to providing a range of academic, cultural, and athletic activities in which all students can play a part and enjoy and which we hope will provide a multitude of opportunities for students to grow, learn and achieve in an inspirational and encouraging environment. We value the British education system and know that it builds a solid foundation for any young person aspiring to go on to study at university. All students, regardless of age and ability, will make exceptional progress, especially given that our core values are to invest in excellent teaching and learning as well as having world-class facilities. The campus provides education from Early Years right through High School, where students receive excellent support and guidance to allow them to make the right choices for the next stage in their education, as well as the prospect of receiving excellent academic qualifications. We recognize the commitment to provide a wonderful learning environment and to ensure that all students are relishing their educational experience. Having a high expectation of all students is important to us here at BICC, as well as ensuring that every student reaches their full potential. It is our key focus to ensure that students have every opportunity to excel, both academically and personally. Our ultimate goal is to be one of the leading schools in Egypt providing an excellent education for all of our learners, and the recruitment of highly qualified and competent teachers has ensured that we are well on track to deliver that goal and we invite you to be part of that journey with us. Our curriculum from Early Years, Key Stage 1 – 5 is rich and offers many routes for students to follow. With a focus on literacy and numeracy, we ensure that students are equipped with the essential skills to become independent learners and motivated individuals. Our modern learning environment is exceptional, having benefitted from a generous investment, which has enabled the school to provide excellent sports facilities, impressive science facilities, an extensive library, and a learning resource center. At BICC we believe that the teaching approach and the teacher/student relationship play a major role in the way students perceive education and construct an attitude towards learning. It is our goal to make both teachers and students feel that they belong to the BICC family where all members are striving to assist each student to achieve their full potential academically, emotionally, and physically. To that end, our teaching philosophy endeavors to foster the following aspects. By opening space for debates and questioning, students will be able to explore new frontiers and challenge boundaries to extract information. This helps build innovative and out-of-the-box modes of thinking and approaches to life queries. With all the technological advancement the world is witnessing, global exposure has become a must. We at BICC believe that students should learn how to understand, tolerate and accept “the Other” even in the case of disagreement. BICC will be keen on providing the students with the option of learning a second language fluently.
  14. In October 1990 the Modern English School Cairo opened its doors with only 28 students enrolled. The school began with the pioneering vision of a group of educators led by Mr. Nabeel Dajani and Mrs. Sawsan Dajani. Its reputation and standing in the community grew quickly and as the school population increased, improved facilities were built, culminating in a recent move to an impressive state-of-the-art campus in New Cairo. In a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the students are encouraged to care for one another and the world around them. MES Cairo is a real international community where the current enrolment of 2076 students aged 3.2 to 18 from 30 nations study together purposefully. Fully established, MES Cairo continues to develop with increased specialist teaching, a strong Learning Development Department, and further exciting Secondary options. Our school community consists of thousands who have lived, learned, taught, worked, and grown together over the years and have formed a special familial bond that is both unique and resilient. It has flourished and grown into something that encompasses connections over time, distance, and generations. As a school that prides itself on continuous improvement, our sights are firmly set on surpassing the very many successes of the last academic year. And we are ready: the school site is fresh from its summer make-over, the staff is feeling energized and invigorated, and our student community is eager to be cared for, challenged, and inspired once again. Modern English School Cairo is a learning community that provides high-quality education for children from Foundation Stage 1 to university entrance level, serving the needs of Egyptian and international families in Cairo. Our broad education is based upon the British Curriculum in Primary. In Secondary, we offer a choice between a British Curriculum, an American Curriculum, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Arabic and Religious Studies are taught throughout the school. We believe in: Recognizing the value of each individual and his/her relationship with others. Promoting international understanding and responsible citizenship in a multicultural context, reflecting the best of Arab, Western, and other world cultures. Providing a supportive, inspiring environment that encourages learners to aim high and achieve their aspirations. Creating opportunities for all to develop confidence, responsibility, and integrity. Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Department is a warm, caring, inspiring hub of activity and wonder. The EYFS environment supports all forms of learning, encouraging children to use their gross and fine motor skills in exciting and fun ways. We are fully committed to developing each child, encouraging independence and confidence in their abilities. Children are given choices and self-selection of activities is at the heart of learning in our Early Years. Children are encouraged to engage with their environment by playing and exploring, being involved in active learning, and creating and thinking critically. These elements of development underpin learning and support children to be effective and motivated learners, in a safe and warm learning environment.
  15. Cairo English School opened in 2006 with 130 students and now has over 1500 students from the ages of 3 to 17. The school is situated on a purpose-built modern campus in the rapidly growing area of New Cairo. The campus includes an Olympic-sized swimming pool, 400-meter running track, football fields, an indoor air-conditioned gymnasium, and modern classrooms including fully equipped science labs and ICT suites. CES is a member of Educational Services Overseas Limited (ESOL), a group of eight American and British schools spanning six countries and three continents. The school draws on the collective experience and professionalism of ESOL schools to help them develop and grow in a well-structured and planned way. CES’s mission is to provide a high-quality British-based international education. The teaching staff work with the parent body to help students become successful learners, confident individuals, and responsible citizens. Students who leave CES not only know, but the necessary skills to reflect and think on what they do, learn and see so they can grow and develop as individuals in university, their careers, and beyond. CES is a member of the British Schools of the Middle East (BMSE) and a full member of the Council of International Schools (CIS). The school is also authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (based in Geneva Switzerland) to deliver the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma. In addition, CES is British Schools Offshore (BSO) inspected and has received the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award. The curriculum at CES follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum leading to the English National Curriculum through to IGCSE at the end of Year 10. After completing IGCSE exams, students can choose to take A Levels (the traditional British route into university) or the increasingly valued IB diploma. The curriculum is rigorous and will allow students to enter the best universities around the world. Although CES is English in character and curriculum, it is sensitive to its location. The school, therefore, delivers the necessary Ministry of Education curriculum in Arabic, Egyptian Social Studies, and Religion to its Egyptian students and Arabic as a Foreign Language to non-Arabic speakers. The school also takes students to places of interest around Cairo (e.g. the Egyptian Museum, the Pyramids of Giza, and Garbage City), linking these trips to the curriculum we follow. Thus CES ensures all students leave the school with a deep understanding of the local culture. We are one of the longest established British education schools in Cairo, with a highly qualified and experienced team of teachers and a world-class facility for academics, sport, and the arts. Not surprisingly, we are one of the most popular choices for parents in the Cairo area. A part of the Esol Education group we focus on providing excellence in education to students in international communities. We give them the knowledge, skills, and character necessary for success in the 21st century. We take great pride not only in our outstanding academic record but also in the opportunities we provide for our students to develop their talents, interests, and skills within a safe and supportive learning environment. Our sense of community is strong, parents are our partners, and we regularly host information and social events for them. Our mission is to nurture a globally-minded community of learners who demonstrate high levels of achievement in the National Curriculum of England and other recognized International Programmes of Study. The CES community believes and promotes the principle, “Together Achieving Personal Excellence”. To aim to: Be BETTER THAN BEFORE (BTB) in everything we do and achieve a culture where personal excellence is paramount. Show kindness and respect for others through demonstrating strong ethical values and character. Reach our full potential through active engagement in lessons and co-curricular activities. Understand and respect others' cultural beliefs and belief structures. Be effective communicators, recognizing English as the common language both socially and academically. Experience success and have it recognized. Identify talents through the program of co-curricular activities and events. Promote a holistic approach to health and well-being. Develop open-minded reflective learners. Promote the principle that differences define, not divide. Take pride in the richness of the Egyptian culture, language, and curriculum.

Graduates join a global community of more than 15,000 CAC alumni and former students who are at the forefront of business, research, the arts, social innovation, and political service. The friendships that students form at CAC last a lifetime. Though our alumni are spread across 90 countries, they are constantly connecting and collaborating. 19. View full school

We give them the knowledge, skills, and character necessary for success in the 21st century. We take great pride not only in our outstanding academic record but also in the opportunities we provide for our students to develop their talents, interests, and skills within a safe and supportive learning environment. 25.
