      3. Our Vision is to empower learners to achieve their full potential from a world-class, well-rounded, and innovative educational experience, here at SISPIK. Our Mission is to create a culture based on our shared values to promote learning communities that: Work collaboratively for our learners to excel academically Encourage the perseverance and pursuit of personal goals ethically and with integrity Endorse and uphold strong family values Encourage creativity and physical development of our learners in partnership with our neighbors Our school culture centers on a deep and resonant definition of learning. Our academic program builds foundational and critical thinking skills but is also structured to help our students discover optimal ways to express themselves and excel. We are devoted to tapping into our students’ imaginations so they may discover their unique talents and grow in countless ways. We pay attention to each child and create an environment where each student can thrive as an individual and a valued member of a community. The curriculum of SIS PIK provides students with the opportunities to take risks, ask questions, explore ideas, and develop their imaginations while engaging them through active learning and rigorous study. The environment at SIS PIK is designed to promote a love of knowledge, appreciation of disciplinary expertise, and the motivation to reach high academic and personal objectives. In each division of the school, teachers build rich and inspiring learning experiences to help students participate in our changing world as to future global citizens. SIS PIK offers a most unusual educational experience, weaving together the best of three educational traditions: Singapore, Cambridge, and the IB. A profound respect for education and a rigorous approach to learning are foundation stones of our curriculum. SIS PIK makes a deep commitment to experiential learning. This concept of learning-by-doing, both in the classroom and outside it, allows students to further their understanding of questions relevant to their everyday lives. Students at SIS PIK have many opportunities for experiential learning during our Learning Journeys. These journeys extend the boundaries and experiences of learning from the classroom to the world. SIS PIK believes strongly that effective learning engages students and instills in them a love for the active exploration of concepts that have relevance and purpose in their lives. Critical thinking and collaboration are at the heart of this kind of educational experience and lead – as research demonstrates—to higher retention of knowledge and improved academic performance. We encourage students to explore the road less traveled, to ask difficult and thoughtful questions, to take intellectual and creative risks, and to dare to dream. We want our students to live the credo: All things are possible. We believe each child brings an “extraordinary gift” to our community. We cherish our students’ curious minds and embrace every opportunity to help them flourish emotionally and intellectually, now and in the future. View full school

      7. Over at the secondary school, S4 students are to be commended for their performance in the IGCSE examinations, with two-thirds of the grades achieved being distinctions. Welcome back to SISHK: 2016/17 has been the busiest year with the celebrations for our school’s anniversary. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our parents and community for your enthusiastic participation in all the events and for making the year such a memorable one! Our school year ended with some very good news from our students. In July, five of our Primary Two students won one bronze and four gold medals when they represented Hong Kong in the World Maths Invitational in Vietnam. Our DP students also performed very well in their Diploma examinations, with an average of 37 points for the IB Diploma and more than 35% achieved 40 points and above. We are very proud of our graduates as they start the next phase of their learning journey in universities all over the world including Oxford (UK), Cambridge (UK), Northeastern (USA), Berklee (USA), and British Columbia (Canada). One-fifth of the cohort will be matriculating to one of the Hong Kong universities. Some students will be returning to Singapore to pursue their degree studies at the National University of Singapore or Nanyang Technological University while others will be starting National Service back in Singapore. The interests of this cohort reflect the diversity of talents among our students, courses they will be studying range from Media Studies, Music, Law, Medicine, Physics, English, Chemical Engineering, Business to Accountancy, and others. As a whole, the academic achievements of our students are laudable. SISHK prides itself on our academic rigor and our student body ranges widely in terms of academic inclination, creative aptitude, language proficiency, physical capability as we are a non-selective school. In addition to academic excellence, we support our students to discover and pursue their passions and talents and equip them with the tools to face future challenges and thrive in an ever-changing world.| Our team has grown with more teachers joining us from around the world and new heads joining the management team to lead the school forward. In the next few months, we will be upgrading the swimming pool’s water filtration system and constructing a canopy over the basketball courts at the Nam Long Shan campus. Alternative PE lessons are in place during this period and we will have another all-weather outdoor area for the children to enjoy after the works are completed. We will also be further refining our teaching and learning strategies as well as fine-tuning the range of activities and events to further enrich our students’ learning experiences. The team and I are all looking forward to another exciting year ahead, partnering with you to create more learning opportunities and experiences for your children. 8. Singapore International School was first established in September 1991 in Kennedy Town with an enrolment of 200 pupils. In 1995, SISHK moved to its current premises in Aberdeen. The new purpose-built school was built on land granted by the Hong Kong government, and the cost of the building was borne by the Singapore Government. In 2012, our secondary campus was officially open. The two campuses are connected by a link bridge. Presently, the school has an enrolment of close to 1,500 pupils from approximately 20 nationalities with Singaporeans and Hong Kong permanent residents forming the majority. SISHK is recognized as a premier educational institution. Our first two batches of students have done well in their IGCSE examinations: they include winners of the Outstanding Cambridge Learners, such as Top in the World (Additional Mathematics, Global Perspectives, and Mathematics) and Top in Hong Kong (Biology, Global Perspectives, Music and Physics). Our first batch of IBDP students graduated in 2012/13. A vibrant community striving for excellence. To provide a conducive environment for a future-oriented, holistic education, anchored in a rigorous bilingual academic program, for children of all nationalities. We nurture students to be independent life-long learners imbued with sound moral values who are respectful and responsible, and who rise to the challenges of life creatively and enthusiastically in an ever-changing world. The school motto serves as a constant reminder to the school community of students and teachers that small successes will motivate the individual to strive for greater achievements. We respect the dignity and worth of all the students under our care. We believe that all students can be nurtured to achieve their full potential within a school environment that is both caring and challenging. As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child – we will continue to work in partnership with all of our parents and students to make SISHK a caring, safe, and rich learning environment where our students have the time and space to learn, dream, explore, experiment and grow. Over at the secondary school, S4 students are to be commended for their performance in the IGCSE examinations, with two-thirds of the grades achieved being distinctions. 14. 18. As the world's first college to offer a bachelor's degree program dedicated to game development, DigiPen Institute of Technology has long been the top choice for students pursuing careers in the digital interactive media industries. The Admissions Office is in charge of managing and regulating all admissions processes alongside student engagement and recruitment activities. Such processes and activities are conducted ethically and professionally and in keeping with organizational policies and procedures and relevant accreditation requirements. The Admissions Office also administers the Student Ambassador and Student Shadow programs. The industry's performance-driven nature has set high standards and created fierce competition for students entering the job market today. In order to succeed, one must deliver unique and engaging interactive experiences to today's audiences. This type of real technological innovation can only be achieved by those who have a deep, fundamental understanding of the complicated relationship between user and experience. Singapore is now home to DigiPen's first international campus. The Singapore campus was established at the Singapore government's invitation as part of the country's initiative to build the island into an education hub with the vision of turning it into a "Global Schoolhouse." DigiPen's presence will also contribute to the Singapore government's vision of turning the island into a "Global Digital Studio." DigiPen (Singapore) encompasses over 2,960 square meters with a library, dedicated computer labs for students, and classrooms for lectures and instruction. The classrooms vary in size from lecture halls accommodating up to 80 students to small classrooms accommodating 60 students. The labs also vary in size from those accommodating 150 students to smaller ones seating 50 students. The computer workstations provided at DigiPen (Singapore) are selected to meet or exceed the hardware specifications for the required educational software. These computers are equipped with industry software for 2D and 3D animation production and development tools for game engine creation. All computers are on an internal network and have access to printers, servers, and archival media. The Institute upgrades the computer equipment periodically. DigiPen (Singapore) 's library aims to support the Institute's curriculum, students, and faculty. Students have access to a variety of resources and reference books relevant to their program of study. The library also subscribes to a selection of significant journals and magazines related to gaming, simulation, and animation. Furthermore, the library allocates an annual budget for updating the contents of the library. In addition to curriculum-related resources, the library has a collection of career-oriented materials, including books on resumes, cover letters, and interviews. In 2008, we set up our first overseas campus in Singapore at the invitation of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). The engagement with EDB took many years, but the efforts paid off. DigiPen opened its doors to our first batch of undergraduate students, officially marking our entrance as an overseas university into Singapore. In 2010, with the encouragement of EDB, we continued this endeavor by partnering with SIT, Singapore's fifth public university. So, the setting up of our campus to provide education services was our first milestone in Singapore. A few months ago, we officially announced the setting up of our R&D center. The R & D center was built on our campus's success as we developed and accumulated more intellectual know-how while fulfilling our role as an educator. The R&D center represents our further commitment to Singapore. This was our second milestone. DGS is the third component of the 'Education-R&D-Industry' ecosystem that we have implemented in Singapore. The components of this ecosystem are mutually reinforcing and will add more synergy to the whole framework. Having DGS in Singapore marks the third milestone. DGS has two roles to play. First, it is an industry developer. Second, DGS is a publisher. In these two roles, DGS will help third-party developers in the Southeast Asia region to make and publish their games. As a result, we hope this will help develop the interactive entertainment industry further. As a start, DGS will work on the Nintendo 3DS platform, and the games will be distributed globally on the Nintendo e-shop. MDA will also support DGS programs and activities in Singapore. In the future, DGS may broaden its support to other Nintendo platforms and game consoles from other manufacturers. The collaboration between a university, an industry giant, and a government agency is indeed very unique. Not many countries can create such an entity, and it is to Singapore's credit that such a formation can happen here. It is also a testimony that Singapore has what it takes to make such a venture possible. Furthermore, it is a privilege that DigiPen can contribute in such a meaningful way towards Singapore through this setup during its Jubilee year. To further elaborate on what DGS does, as an industry developer DGS will organize an annual DigiPen Game Conference — sometime in late September to early October this year. At the end of this conference, we will have a "Call for Proposals" for third-party developers. We look forward to having third-party developers coming to this conference and submitting their game proposals. DGS will also provide training on some of the Nintendo hardware and assist third-party developers in understanding Nintendo's requirements.

SMU research aims to create a significant impact through five Areas of Excellence. The Office of Research & Tech Transfer (ORTT) is the institutional office overseeing and supporting various research-related matters at the university level. ORTT works with the various SMU Schools, Institutes, Centres, and Labs (ICLs), and other University administration offices such as the Office of Finance (OFN) and the Office of Legal and General Affairs (OLGA) to provide support to researchers across the research project life cycle. It was in 1997 that the Singapore government first mooted the idea of a third university for Singapore. Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Tony Tan believed that the new university should be different from the two established institutions - the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The government wanted SMU to be an experiment in diversity. The experiment began with the Chairman of the new institution's choice, Mr. Ho Kwon Ping, a renowned and successful business entrepreneur. He was joined by an SMU task force of academics, including Professor Tan Chin Tiong, who determined that SMU should be an American-style university offering a broad-based education, in contrast to Singapore's tradition of the more specialized British model. Singapore is a critical financial and aviation hub and emphasizes innovation and prosperity with social and corporate responsibility. Located at the heart of Singapore's bustling central business district, SMU is positioned to tap into these facets and provide you with unparalleled opportunities for networking and personal growth. The city's low crime-rate, accessible and well-connected transportation system, and inexpensive local food make it one of the most sought-after places both regionally and globally to live, work and play. Several social, sporting, recreational, and career-related events and activities are organized by the postgraduate office and students, career services office, and various SMU student clubs for Masters's students throughout the year. You will have many opportunities to pursue your interests and hone your networking skills while exchanging ideas with students from other programs. Organized in two of the weeks during the academic year, the exclusive Postgraduate (PG) Open Week will also bring forth a myriad of enriching and experiential activities for students to immerse in and expand their horizons while taking a break away from the rigors of studies. As our graduating student, you will receive an immense amount of support to excel in your opportunities with potential employers. Our Postgraduate Career Services team has various supporting initiatives on this front. SMU GROW is a university-wide program that involves students, staff, and faculty in cultivating change through experiential and reflexive learning.
