Carmel School, Kuwait, established in 1969, is conducted by the Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel, who have several educational establishments all over India and the Andamans, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Africa, and Rome. The school is primarily for Indians of all religious denominations. Students from other schools will be tested before they are admitted to their respective classes. A photocopy of the original Birth Certificate must be submitted at the time of admission. Students coming from other schools cannot be admitted without the Leaving Certificate, which must be countersigned by the Inspecting Authority of that State. Application for the withdrawals must be made in the prescribed form given in the Diary and submitted to the Principal at least a fortnight before their leaving. Leaving Certificates will be issued only if all school dues have been paid and library books etc. are returned. The term fee has to be paid even if the child leaves in the middle of the term. The American Academy for Girls is part of the Al-Jeel Al-Jadeed Educational Institute founded in 1964. The institute began with one school, the Al-Jeel Al-Jadeed School in Hawally, and was later joined by the Nasser School in Salmiya in 1969. These two schools were joined in 1993 by The English Academy in Jabriya, the first school in Kuwait to take the title ‘Academy’. Following the founding of these three schools, the board then turned its attention to a very different and very exciting project, the proposal being to establish a school based on the American educational system, to help the young women of Kuwait achieve their true educational potential. Students are encouraged to meet academic challenges with openness, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn. AABA offers an English-Arabic bilingual education from Pre-K through to year 12. The bilingual aspect of the school is its most distinctive feature. Learning through another language gives students a level of second language skills not achievable through a regular language arts program. Perhaps more importantly, a bilingual education prepares children for life in a rapidly changing world, while still maintaining contact with their Arab cultural heritage. Our vision at AABA is to inspire commitment, responsibility, enthusiasm, and creativity with a desire to learn. A unique feature of our school is the scheduled activities that allow children to communicate, explore experiment and discover at their own level. Students have access to a computer lab necessary for today's growing technologies age. We are starting a Drama Club to open the child's imagination to role-play and encourage personal expression. The Kindergarten section has a qualified facilitator who monitors the children's progress as they master many life skills such as pouring, carrying, and sewing necessary for the fine motor skills needed to have good penmanship. The Science Lab is a safely equipped lab utilized for experiments with water, plant life, and various science activities. Reading lessons take place in our bilingual Library complete with appropriate books on various subjects. We are also pleased to inform you that our school has applied for CIS accreditation. A CIS accreditation guarantees excellence in all stages and aspects of school-based education. CIS assures a school, and the community it serves, that an accredited institution provides a quality education program for students based upon a clearly defined philosophy and objectives that are appropriate for the school's unique population.
