  4. In partnership with students, parents, staff, governors, and the wider community, the vision at Eastlea is: To be recognized as an outstanding school that provides a safe, stimulating, creative, and dynamic learning environment that strives for excellence and values achievement. To be a community of learners where students are known and supported as individuals. To foster individual goals, developing the skills of the learner within a happy caring, and inclusive environment. To prepare students to play an active role in the world To provide a safe learning environment in which students feel secure and where self-esteem, confidence, and respect, both for self and others, can be promoted. To make our school a place where students want to be and want to learn. Young people should leave Eastlea with their understanding deepened, their minds enriched, and their hearts inspired so that they love learning and embrace the challenges of the future. We as part of the Eastlea community will respect and trust each other in celebration of our diverse heritage and shared future. We will honor and uphold the school’s expectations and what we believe and trust to be right. We will aspire to our potential and educational excellence, strive for physical and economic well-being, and contribute to our environment and community. We will continue to improve our lives by learning, caring for our community by being active citizens. We want to learn to be exciting and enjoyable, experienced through participation and achievement in a safe environment. At Eastlea Community School we believe in promoting all strands of literacy. It is for this reason that we have become a certified Accelerated Reader school. Accelerated Reader is a scheme aimed at encouraging students to read for pleasure and develop a life-long love for books. It also enables teachers to accurately assess students’ reading levels and abilities. Above all, this remarkable program enables parents to access information about their child’s progress from the comfort of their own home. Our passion for literacy has also resulted in us being involved in Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge, Debate Mate and in most recent times we have had our version of ‘Ted Talks’ which is aimed at developing a passion for public speaking among our most able students. National events such as World Book Day and National Poetry Day are also given a very high profile across the school and this stands as evidence of our commitment to ensuring that every child at our school is left with an unforgettable experience of the benefits of being highly literate. Student Voice is one of the strengths at Eastlea Community School, a wide cross–section of students willingly volunteer themselves for various initiatives across the school. They are very proud and committed to the school, enthusiastically promoting a broad range of activities to improve the school and the wider community. This includes playing an active role in the school’s governing body and recruitment of all the teaching staff. The Eastlea School Council is democratically elected and students on the School Council are very responsible and commit themselves and encourage others to take responsibility for their learning. Student Council members work on an exciting range of projects and initiatives across the school so that Student Voice is embedded in everything we do. At Eastlea Community School, we believe that a student’s ability to enjoy and achieve is best enhanced by a smooth transition between Key Stages. We need to sustain, in our young people an enthusiasm for learning, confidence in themselves as learners, and a sense of achievement and purpose. It is therefore important that transition is well planned, in stages and that we should not expect new students to cope with a huge change in teaching organization and style all at once. We aim to ensure a smooth and effective transition from primary school to Eastlea Community School, to help all our young people to feel safe and happy, to have their needs met, and to ultimately fulfill their true potential. 5. Eastbury is a wonderful school in which to learn and work. At Eastbury, we want every pupil to be happy and part of our success story. We do our best to ensure all pupils are healthy, feel safe, and are extremely well educated. We, therefore, have high expectations and ambitions for every pupil. Our mission statement is 'Getting the best from and for all our learners'. The Early Years Foundation Stage is a curriculum for children from birth to five. We follow the curriculum in Nursery and Reception. Each child learns skills, acquires new knowledge, and demonstrates their understanding through seven areas of learning and development. The total time spent on teaching each day is 5 hours (excluding break, lunchtime, and registration times), totaling 25 hours per week. Each Year Group is sub-divided into groups of 25 - 30 or less for teaching purposes. Students are grouped according to the needs of the individual subject with setting by ability predominating. The placement of each student is regularly reviewed and is changed when appropriate. Eastbury Sixth Form provides a supportive environment in which students feel valued, grow in confidence and fulfill their academic, moral and social potential by combining high expectations with a powerful support network. Our Sixth form results for both academic and vocational courses are amongst the very best in Barking and Dagenham and many of our students go on to attend the country’s most competitive Universities and Apprenticeships. By joining Eastbury Sixth Form you are choosing to become part of a thriving community with an ever-growing reputation for academic excellence, a comprehensive enrichment program, and post-18 support to ensure every student leaves on an aspirational and well-matched progression route. We place a high emphasis on not just the academic attainment of our students, but also their moral and social development. We offer a wide range of trips, events, and workshops to ensure all our students leave as confidant, independent, and responsible young adults with an appetite to continue their learning with vigor and enthusiasm. Supporting and caring for Students is a key priority. Every student can succeed with the right support and encouragement from home and school. We work closely and develop a partnership with parents to support their child at Eastbury. Parents receive a detailed report of their child's progress once a year. This contains an assessment of current attainment and suggestions for improvement. Throughout the year, progress reports and regular contact keeps parents informed if we have cause for celebration or concern. We encourage all parents to attend our regular Parents' Evenings and Open Days, where there is a valuable opportunity to discuss in greater detail the progress of their child and agree on strategies to help reach the highest possible standards. Our fortnightly newsletters and primary newsletters ensure that parents are kept up-to-date with school events and how to support their child academically. Also, we have a full-time Parent Support Advisor who can make home visits and meet families when needed. Learning Support Specialists and assistants identify students who need support and work closely with them across the curriculum to provide extra help with their learning. A range of additional 'Booster' classes enables learners to succeed in the core subjects of English and Mathematics. We also provide additional lessons and reading schemes to boost students' literacy levels. Our highly regarded Hearing Impaired Centre has well-equipped rooms that cater to the needs of learners with hearing loss. A team of specialist teachers and communicators provides support in small groups and the classroom. Highly experienced Learning Mentors and Youth Workers support the emotional needs of our students and help develop a positive attitude to learning. They work closely with students who are experiencing anxieties about school, have problems in their lives outside of school, or who need help with forming friendship groups. For those students who do not have English as their first Language, our Bilingual Assistants provide support in accessing the curriculum, and specialist teachers provide additional English Classes. As well as developing proficiency in English, we encourage students to be literate in their first language and study a GCSE in their home language. 6. We are a small school with big ambition for our pupils. We pride ourselves on developing all our young people’s academic potential, talents, interests, and abilities and offer a fantastic range of opportunities across the curriculum from S1 to S6. Our results reflect our ethos of aspiration and ambition for all our pupils. We are proud of what we do at Drummond and think that you will be impressed too. You may be aware of the current proposal to move GME provision from James Gillespie’s High School to Drummond. You will find more information on this under the Parent Council tab. For us all at Drummond it is business as usual, continuing with the highest standards of teaching and learning and focusing our seniors on preparing for their exams in the summer term. Our overall aim at Drummond Community High School is to provide for each pupil the opportunity to develop his or her talents and abilities. As parents, you will naturally wish for the best for your child. We, too, share that wish for personal achievement and our efforts are directed towards your child’s education in the widest sense. We want to provide the best possible academic education, but we are also concerned with developing a wide range of personal qualities and skills. Above all, we seek to encourage and support your child’s development into a socially responsible and independent young person. The school will play a major part in achieving these aims, but effective education depends on a partnership between home and school. To realize this partnership we actively encourage you as parents to take a full and positive interest in your child’s education and to pursue this interest through events such as Parents’ Meetings or direct personal contact. An important theme of the school is participation. We encourage our pupils to identify with the school, to be proud of its reputation, and to be involved in the life of the school. We hope that you as a parent will also take an active interest in the life and affairs of the school. You will naturally have a range of questions and anxieties concerning your child’s transfer from primary to high school and we hope that this handbook will help to address some of these questions. The Handbook this year follows a new format, containing information about an educational provision in Scotland and Edinburgh generally, as well as in Drummond Community High School, although we have tried to provide as much practical information about the school as possible. We hope that you find it useful, but if you have any questions, or would like any further information on any aspect of the school or the education of your child, please do not hesitate to contact me. We’ve changed our curriculum model to offer S4 pupils the opportunity to study seven National Qualifications. Pupils in S5 and S6 can still study five Highers. We are also running more Advanced Highers than ever before. We offer the full range of subjects at National 5 and Higher levels, from Art & Design to Drama to all three Sciences to Graphic Communication to Spanish, and everything in between. We have invested heavily in iPads for all pupils and upgrading the ICT across the classrooms with Smartboards. We offer a wide a range of sporting and cultural activities as possible. There is a range of extra-curricular activities available for pupils during lunchtime and after school. Parents will be informed about these by the school. In addition to in-school activities, classes also make regular educational visits and field studies. These visits are linked to pupils’ classwork. View full school
  7. Cwmtawe is an 11-16 comprehensive school based in Pontardawe, serving the upper Swansea valley. Created in 1969, the school previously occupied three different sites. It moved to its present site in 1996 and now offers accommodation and facilities which are second to none. We are oversubscribed in most year groups, with 1,270 pupils currently on roll. In addition to pupils within our natural catchment area, a growing number of parents actively choose to send their children to Cwmtawe from other areas of Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Powys, and Carmarthenshire. Preferred placements now account for nearly half our annual pupil intake. The school prides itself on offering a modern education based on traditional values. The way that staff care for, guide, and support pupils is a significant strength, as is the quality of teaching and learning which leads to outstanding outcomes. Our focus is on hard work and working as a team. This embedded culture leads to outcomes for all pupils to be proud of, both within and outside the classroom. We are immensely proud of the achievements of all our pupils, as we are sure you will see throughout this website. The school has facilities which are second to none. This allows pupils to maximize the opportunities on offer to develop their aptitudes and interests. We are also incredibly proud of the quality of our teaching and support staff. They maintain consistently high expectations of all pupils and work tirelessly to ensure everyone achieves their potential. However, don’t take my word for it. If you are thinking of joining us we would encourage you to visit the school for an informal discussion and to see for yourself. Our mission statement was devised when the new school building was established in 1996, but still accurately encapsulates what Cwmtawe stands for to this day. Our aims as a school are not just academic. We want to develop life-long skills within all our pupils to equip them for life beyond school. Above all, we want pupils to enjoy their time in school and look back on their education with pride. View full school
  8. Currie Community High School is a non-denominational school serving the areas of Currie, Riccarton, Baberton Mains, and Juniper Green on the southwest side of the City of Edinburgh. For more than 350 years there has been a school in Currie. There is, therefore, a long tradition of service to the young people and community of Currie. We are a fully comprehensive, non-denominational high school situated in the South West of Edinburgh. We offer a wide range of courses covering a wide range of subjects from the broad general education in S1-3 through to Advanced Highers in our senior school. Also, we offer a large range of wider opportunities within and beyond the school day. The school aims to give pupils an insight into sustainable development issues and to provide opportunities for them to make a difference in their school environment. Pupils currently assist with maintenance of the ecology sites, recycling, and litter initiatives and are working on health promotion and safe routes to school. We are committed to supporting the development of the whole pupil and as a result, wish to encourage their development in spiritual, moral, social, and cultural terms. Our primary aim is to combine high personal and social standards with a friendly atmosphere and mutual tolerance in which pupils of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds, of all religious persuasions, and varying levels of ability are welcome. We are committed through our school aims to encourage pupils to develop and mature in an atmosphere of tolerance and understanding of the needs of others and society. We strive to create and maintain a climate within which pupils feel valued, included, secure and happy. The example and actions of all staff are important in creating this atmosphere and this will be reflected in the relationship between staff and pupils. If pupils are always treated with honesty, fairness, and respect, the same behaviors can be expected of pupils by staff. In turn, pupils will benefit from the supportive environment in which they are encouraged to behave appropriately towards one another. In December 2014 we completed our whole school consultant The school has developed a variety of approaches to sustainability both through the curriculum and whole school ethos initiatives. The school grounds include a strip of woodland, a green garden, a new fruit orchard, a pond with a surrounding marsh garden, a willow coppice, and a Japanese garden. These are used extensively for teaching pupils about biodiversity, how living things interact, and the impact that the settlement of Currie has had on local habitats. Pupils carry out curricular work in the grounds in Science, Geography, Biology, Art and Design and Social Education and this is under further development. We enjoy extremely good links with our three associated primary schools. This ensures that the transition from primary to secondary school is as smooth as possible and that our young people’s education is progressive and coherent. As a community school, we are mindful of our responsibilities in serving the wider community. This involves the provision of as broad a range as possible of activities to meet the needs and interests of those within our wider community. We are continually looking for ways to strengthen our partnership with parents. Education Scotland highlighted the very good ethos which continues to be a major strength at Currie Community High School. A range of initiatives and opportunities have been developed to allow young people in the school to develop the four capacities and make a positive contribution to the school and their community. 9. At Crosslee, education is about learners experiencing the joy of discovery, solving problems, being creative throughout and beyond the curriculum, and developing their self-confidence as learners whilst maturing socially, and becoming emotionally literate. This school endeavors to combine high standards with a broad, balanced, and rich curriculum that hooks children into their learning with a high priority on excellence and enjoyment. Learners are excited and engaged and enjoy what they are doing, learning to love learning in a positive ethos of nurture, care, and respect. The qualities of self-motivation, independence, and resourcefulness will be the aim for all our learners as we inspire them to develop high aspirations in their future lives. Crosslee Community Primary School’s Admission Policy is following the policy set by the LA. Our admissions figure, allocated by the LA is 60 per year group up to Year 2, and 45 from Year 3-6. Apart from Nursery, all places are now allocated through the LA and not directly by the school. If you require a Nursery place you must apply directly to the school. The Headteacher is responsible for allocating places, using the procedures set out below for Nursery Admission. The Nursery has provision for 52 full-time places. Admissions to Nursery do not come on a first-come-first-served basis. Therefore, the date at which you put a child’s name down does not affect the position on the list. Part-time / Full-time places in Nursery are allocated in line with the LA policy. Children who are already in our Nursery will automatically be sent a pack from Manchester Children’s services to apply for a place in Reception. The staff at Crosslee aim to make their teaching of the curriculum stimulating and relevant to the children and to provide as many practical first-hand experiences as possible. All children are different in terms of ability, maturity, and personality and have different learning needs. We must offer our pupils a broad and balanced curriculum which gives all children a chance to succeed. All children are supported by a range of teaching and learning strategies that allow them to take full advantage of school provision. Our curriculum aims to prepare our children with the skills and knowledge needed for success in their future lives. In the EYFS children are allowed to work towards achieving early learning goals. There are seven areas of learning and development that shape the educational programs in the early years at Crosslee. All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships, and thrive. Crosslee Primary School seeks to develop the full potential of each child, recognizing the uniqueness of each individual. We aim to provide a relevant broad-based curriculum within a caring environment in which all children can develop towards their full potential regardless of ability. At Crosslee it is the belief that all children have an equal right to a full and rounded education which will enable them to achieve their full potential. We use our best endeavors to secure special educational provision for pupils for whom this is required, that is ‘additional to and different from that provided within the differentiated curriculum to better respond to the four areas of need identified in the new Code of Practice. Our Governors bring different areas of expertise to Crosslee Community Primary School. The Governor’s role is to support and challenge the senior staff to continually improve the school. Governors do this through undertaking visits, sitting on committees, giving professional advice, and asking to probe and challenging questions of leaders within the school. They have a vital role to play in driving the school forward and the performance of its pupils, ensuring that resources are used well to give every child the best possible education. They are a key part of the overall system for school accountability. Governors are also responsible for overseeing the Head teacher’s performance management in doing this they contribute directly to shaping the strategic direction of the school. We continue to encourage parents to keep up to date with safety by providing workshops. We hosted a workshop for all parents and carers. This was about keeping your child safe online and using social media. It highlighted the importance of being vigilant with technology. Thank you for your attendance, we are working together to prevent future incidents. The identification and assessment of the special educational needs of children whose first language is not English require particular care. Where there is uncertainty about a particular child, a teacher will look carefully at all aspects of the child’s performance in different subjects to establish whether the problems are due to limitations in their command of English or arises from special educational needs. In each topic, there are opportunities for children to apply their skills in Reading, Writing, Numeracy, and ICT and to develop their vocabulary within each subject. The original school was of wood construction (1929) and based on the land adjacent to Florentine Road. In the 1970s this building was reconstructed using brick with an additional building ( Junior Building) sited adjacent to Stoneycroft field and the school thus became a split site school Over the last few years, Corinthian has undergone major enhancing building works with the single siting of KS1 and KS2 on the Stoneycroft field site and the building of a Children’s Centre with our Foundation Stage on the original school site. A Forest School is an innovative educational approach to outdoor play and learning. Forest School aims to provide unique learning opportunities in an outdoor setting. The development of self-awareness, self-regulation, intrinsic motivation, empathy, social communication skills, independence, positive mental attitude, self-esteem, and confidence is paramount. It provides children with the opportunity to take risks, make choices and initiate their learning in a safe but engaging and inspiring environment. This year we are providing Forest School sessions for Year 3 at Croxteth. Sessions will commence in September. We have lots of fabulous learning experiences planned, including how to build and light fires, tie a variety of knots, build dens, explore natural environmental art, use tools safely, competently, and confidently take risks, climb trees, make mud faces for trees and toast food on the fire. When you join Benson you become a Benson Bee, a member of our community, a team player who supports and encourages all, always prepared to try something new and work hard to achieve success, but most importantly you will always remember that at Benson: 'There are no limits to what you can achieve' Whenever you walk into a school you can get a real sense of what is going on from the way children and adults greet you. At Benson, one is struck by the friendly nature of all the staff and pupils here. Respect for one another is a keystone to our success. We are proud that we treat each other well and know that we in return are shown the respect we all deserve. This school is a ‘respecting rights’ school and as such helps children understand that they are valued and listened to. We will be teaching our children that respect is a very essential element of life. But we also have a really important job to do to ensure that our children grow up with the necessary skills of reading, writing, and maths. We will be trying to instill a real love for books and the characters encountered there. Children will learn not only how to read a wide range of literature but will also have opportunities to talk about how stories impact them and their own lives and how they can bring history & RE alive. We will help children make mathematical links with the world around them and show them how maths skills help solve scientific and geographical problems. Of course, as a healthy school, we are keen to make sure that our children are active and skilled in running, throwing, catching, batting and swimming. We have some top athletes, cricketers, basketball players, and footballers here (watch this space Aston Villa!). Our links with King Edwards Aston Grammar School ensure we have the highest quality ‘skills’ teaching here. We know their support makes a real difference to all we do. We value creativity too. Not just through art and design and technology but through the way we teach in every subject by asking open questions and demanding that our children make judgments and evaluations. Our ‘Ask it’ sessions challenge our children to deepen their understanding of the world around them. So there are no limits. At Benson, we all work to create an environment where all children feel welcome, accepted, valued, safe, and confident that they will get the right support to help develop their talent and achieve their goals. We work hard to help remove barriers to learning, to give each child the chance to reach their full potential. Successful inclusive provision is seen as the responsibility of the whole school community and applicable to all pupils. At Benson Community School we work hard to deliver a curriculum that is engaging, exciting, and inquiring. 23. The Beavers Community Primary School Staff and Governors aim to provide, together with our community, a center of excellence with quality learning and teaching provision for all our pupils. Beavers Community Primary School will, without excuse or compromise, provide the best start in life for all of the children in its care. Values-based schools seek to promote an educational philosophy based on valuing self, others, and the environment through the consideration of an ethical values vocabulary. Values are principles that guide behavior. At Beavers, adults are encouraged to model values and to give time for reflective practices. We believe that this empowers individuals to be effective learners and good citizens. We use a scheme called Project Achieve which encourages children to ‘Stop and Think’ about what’s happened and then make a good choice to remedy it. It trains children to deal positively with difficult situations, which may otherwise lead to conflict. At Beavers Community Primary School, we aim to provide the children with a curriculum that is broad, well-balanced, and above all stimulates the children to learn. We aim to build on the knowledge, understanding, and skills of all children, whatever their starting points, as they progress through the school. The curriculum encompasses the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum while incorporating other experiences and opportunities which best meet the learning and developmental needs of the pupils in our school. Through a positive and caring environment, we provide the opportunity for every child to reach their full potential and develop the skills they need to be successful, independent, and motivated learners. Our curriculum design is based firmly on the principles of good learning matched to the specific needs of the children in our school. National requirements and school requirements are mapped out as a whole school and then individual year groups plan the curriculum for their pupils accordingly. The curriculum is underpinned by the school’s Values (Respect, Equality, Determination, Honesty, Courage, and Compassion) and these are taught on their own and through other areas of the curriculum, including assemblies. The spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of our pupils and their understanding of the core values of our society are woven through the curriculum. At Beavers Community Primary School we seek to create opportunities for children to experience and excel in a range of activities that enhance and extend the National Curriculum. Children have opportunities both inside and outside the classroom eg themed days, trips, workshops, sporting events, visiting speakers, and much more. View full school
  24. We are a creative and innovative school, set in a 21st-century building with state-of-the-art facilities. We have fantastic students and excellent staff. Barnhill is now part of the Barnhill Partnership Trust, along with Belmore Primary Academy. The Trust aims to ‘Build Brighter Futures’ for our students through the delivery of high-quality educational experiences, which allow them to successfully meet their full academic and creative potential. We are also proud of developing positive personal qualities in our students, ensuring that they have the resilience and character to support their futures as fully participating and caring citizens of modern Britain. Ofsted rated this supportive environment as Outstanding. We have outstanding pastoral support, not just according to us, but according to Ofsted. We give every student the support they need to be successful and feel comfortable at school. 95% of students say they are happy or very happy at school, and 97% say they have a good relationship with their teachers. Our results are now very good and will continue to get better each year. In 2013, 85% of students achieved 5 or more A to C grades at GCSE, with 61% including English and Maths. At A-Level, 30% of the grades were A or A*. The progress students make is excellent, or in other words, the grades students achieve relative to their starting point. We are a truly comprehensive school which welcomes children of all abilities and backgrounds, so our headline figure may seem not as high as some “selective schools”. However, when you look beneath this headline, you can see that our students do as well, if not better, than students in any other local school. School is preparation for life. Every student is different and will follow their path, and our job is to prepare them for that future. We value students who want to go into work and have strong relationships with local employers, such as FSL and the Apprenticeship Scheme. We now have many students going to University, including those in the Global Top 10 (Oxford, Cambridge, and UCL). At the same time, our students are also getting onto the most competitive courses such as Medicine. We have built special relationships with local Universities - Brunel, and the University of West London. School is about more than studying. It is about personal development and maturing into a young adult. Barnhill students excel at Sport and we currently have National Champions in four separate sports. Barnhill students also excel at Leadership. Our Year 10 students, for example, run programs in Primary Schools and have been commended by Sport England. And Barnhill students excel at developing character. Participants in the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme, World Challenge, and Prince’s Trust have been singled out for special praise. We have a growing reputation as a Centre of Excellence for teaching. We work with many organizations to train our staff, including Teach First, Challenge Partners, and the Institute of Education. Our staff now work to train and support teachers in other schools. We focus on making teaching engaging and enjoyable, as well as rigorous and focussed. We are fortunate to have an excellent and stable staff who are prepared to go the extra mile. We have a unique and special curriculum, which teachers from all over the country have been to see and learn from. We have a philosophy of “stage not age”, which means a student should study at the right level, however old they are. If they are ready to take GCSEs at 14, they are allowed to take them. If they are ready to start on A-Level subjects in Year 11, we make this possible. We plan our curriculum very carefully so that each individual can progress at the right moment and this has been a major factor in our success over the last five years. A strong relationship between home and school is vital to success. We listen to parents and value their input, ideas, and feedback. If parents are not happy, we want to know so that we can put things right. If parents are happy we want to know so that we can build on the things that work well. Our commitment is a seven-year partnership that will bring success to the child and makes the family and community proud. View full school
  25. In Bancffosfelen School we aim to create a safe and happy environment for your child to stimulate his/her spiritual, moral, cultural, and physical development. Bancffosfelen is a happy school and this springs from the increasing number of different activities that take place here. Such an effort makes the pupils, parents, staff in general, proud of their connection with the school. We like to take an interest in our pupils after they have left and are proud of their educational achievements. After completing their education at Bancffosfelen School, our pupils continue their education at the local Secondary schools. We truly hope that their time here will be happy. Every child is different. They look different, they behave differently and develop at different times. They learn at different levels and in different ways. For the sake of the child, do not compare them with other children. Bancffosfelen Community School is a rural primary school for pupils (boys and girls) from 3½ to eleven years old. On June 25th, 2017 the school celebrated 140 years since it first opened its doors! The school consists of two classrooms, a library, and a craft room. The hall is a multipurpose area, used for assembly, as a dining area at lunchtime, for physical education, and Clwb Hwyl which is an after-school club that is held on Tuesday evenings from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. The school is surrounded by a playing area. No private vehicles are allowed on to the schoolyard for the safety of the pupils. There is a large school playing field next door. The pupils are separated by age into mixed-ability classes. They are taught collaboratively as a whole class, in smaller groups, and individually. This of course depends on the activity introduced, and the needs of the children. Groups of age, ability, friendship, gender, etc. are formed View full school
