  1. At ECLC we endeavor to provide all students with a fun, engaging, and holistic learning environment where they feel safe, respected, and loved. Our teachers put children at the center of the program – offering experiences and activities that encourage and promote every child’s social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development. We understand that children grow and develop at their own pace. Classroom instruction is differentiated to allow all children to be challenged while feeling successful in all aspects of the program – regardless of their stage of development. We view a child’s developmental level as moving along a continuum and we recognize that movement is not always smooth or predictable. Simply put, the needs and abilities of each child is the primary factor that guides the program. ECLC specializes in the support of children who have English as an additional language by providing a synthetic phonics program that teaches explicitly the letter patterns, sounds, and phonology that underpin the English language. Where necessary we also provide small group instruction to support English second language learners. At ECLC English second language learners are immersed in a positive and rich learning environment where all instruction is in English. We know that language acquisition occurs best when children are exposed to new vocabulary over time, which is why we follow the International Primary Curriculum units of inquiry, which serve to reinforce vocabulary and help children to link their learning to meaningful experiences. Our world is becoming increasingly complex and changes are occurring more and more rapidly, ECLC strives to create an environment that provides a calm and secure place where each child’s uniqueness is celebrated.ECLC exists to provide Early Years Education for children of the local community in Seoul, Korea. ECLC is a secular organization that welcomes children of all nationalities, ethnicities, and religions. To enter ECLC, children must be at least 2 years old before September 1 of that school year.ECLC maintains a rolling enrollment policy during the entire year. Children may enroll, in accordance to their age and subject to class availability, any time throughout the academic year. Students are accepted into the Toddler program at ECLC with the hope that they have at least a ‘beginning awareness’ of their toileting needs. While diapers or “pull-ups” will be allowed initially, we plan that the child will gradually become more capable of taking care of his/her own toileting needs – including no longer needing to wear diapers. For students on the youngest end of this spectrum, ECLC has personnel specifically designated to help out with their diapering and toileting needs. After a reasonable amount of time has elapsed and taken the child’s developmental level into account, if there seems to be no noticeable progress in this area, the parents may be consulted by the teachers to work out a temporary plan to address the situation. We believe children do not simply receive knowledge – they construct it from a variety of active, hands-on experiences. We fit the program to the needs of the child rather than vice versa. “Differentiation” of learning activities is a critical element of a quality early childhood program. We understand that children learn at different rates in different developmental areas. One size does not fit all. Teacher assessment of a child’s abilities is a primary factor in determining what kinds of activities are selected. In general, more emphasis should be placed on the process, rather than the product, of learning. All children should leave ECLC at the end of each day feeling like they were successful. Education is not a race. It is a journey. ECLC provides a child-friendly environment equipped with age-appropriate furniture and materials. It is a very colorful, stimulating child-centered atmosphere. ECLC is located in Dongbingo-dong very close to the Capital Hotel. We use 3 floors of our building and consist of 12 classrooms that accommodate our Toddler, Preschool, K1, and K2 classes. Early Childhood Learning Center is a non-profit early years organization for children aged 2 to 6 years. ECLC has served the Seoul community since 1969. We provide a high-quality English-speaking program for children coming from over 20 different countries. Through both the curriculum and our American-style teaching approaches, we focus on developing the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical potential of each child in a nurturing, secure, and stimulating environment. Our teaching staff is comprised of talented teachers from 6 different countries. Located in Dongbingo-dong, Yongsan-gu near the Capitol Hotel, ECLC is an IPC (International Primary Curriculum) member. At ECLC we endeavor to provide all students with a fun, engaging, and holistic learning environment where they feel safe, respected, and loved. Our teachers put children at the center of the program – offering experiences and activities that encourage and promote every child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. We understand that children grow and develop at their own pace. Simply put, the needs and abilities of each child is the primary factor that guides the program. For those parents currently looking for an Early Childhood program for their child, please feel free to stop by or make an appointment for a tour. We are very proud of our ECLC and would be happy to show you what we have to offer.
  2. The British Education Korea Group currently operates across four sites in Seoul offering the English National Curriculum, with some adaptations to suit the local environment, including Mandarin for all children from nurseries upwards. Places are currently offered to students from 18 months up to Year 8. Each campus has its distinctive ethos which, with the support of the local community, has evolved. However, all our locations share our common aims and values. The group encourages every child to be the best they can be with support and guidance offered at all stages of each student's journey to the senior school of their choice. We firmly believe that effective partnerships with parents are critical in developing each child’s leadership, confidence, and creativity, as well as a strong academic performance. This is all achieved by recruiting excellent teaching staff who place the welfare of the children at the heart of everything they do. The ultimate aim is to ensure that every child in our care is happy and has the absolute best possible start in life in preparation for a happy and successful future in the 21st Century. Education is about much more than studying and passing exams. At British Education Korea we believe that our children should experience a unique character-molding journey, a ‘preparation’ for the next stage of their lives. As well as entry to excellent senior schools in Korea, Asia, and the UK, we will help our pupils develop the tools needed to meet the challenges of the working world and with the confidence to address the inevitable challenges they will face. The key to good schools is good teachers. We always look for professional, passionate people who care about helping every child be the best they can be. The art of inquiry is the most natural gift we all possess. As humans, we are innately curious so it makes sense to tap into the natural curiosities of children to help them to learn. The British National Curriculum, which is the foundation of all our lessons across all age groups. One of the main advantages of an inquiry approach to learning is that it makes students active learners. Active learners recall information, engage in the process of understanding the concepts their learning is based on, and retain information for much longer. The steps to an inquiry approach to learning are rooted in setting up or posing questions that engage learners. The questions used are driven by National Curriculum objectives, but as students become older and more adept at driving their learning, many of the inquiry questions are posed by the students. Curriculum content naturally flows from one subject area to the other as studies are integrated and interrelated. The teacher set up the inquiry by locating the curriculum objectives within subject-specific content and shaping the information into a scheme of work. This allows students to create an end product. The teacher’s role is essential in designing activities that activate prior knowledge. Students learn best when they are active learns that ask questions, investigate solutions, create new knowledge as they gather information, discuss their discoveries and experiences and reflect on new knowledge. Learning is not based on teacher-directed lessons or recall. Students are learning the skills to synthesize, interpret and evaluate. Throughout the inquiry, students are assessed for content knowledge. An authentic assessment task is the preferred assessment type. This ensures that data that is gathered relates only to a student’s new knowledge as it relates to the objective of the inquiry. We are fortunate to have purpose-built facilities and to be in the heart of the exciting and dynamic city of Seoul. Our indoor and outdoor learning spaces provide children with the opportunity to interact with and appreciate nature. This is designed to help the children develop a deep understanding of everyone’s role to care for our world. In our program design, we recognize that an integrated community of diverse people is fundamental to a successful education great facilities and curriculum attracts committed and experienced teachers who are passionately attached to molding young minds and to serving their community. Our teachers come from a variety of countries, bringing with them substantial early years and international teaching experience. Our faculty seeks to nurture and develop the 'whole child' by providing experiences that enhance a child’s cognitive and affective domains. Our teachers are responsive to children’s unique abilities and they design plans for the individual learning needs of our children. We believe that what defines our early year's program is the ability to link the best teachers with a responsive curriculum, in a caring environment. The British Pre-Prep, Bundang House features an integrated learning environment specially designed to stimulate the learning and development of young children from 18 months upwards. The environment is culturally diverse with a wonderful mix of Korean and expatriate families. The children are therefore immersed in an international environment ensuring that children pick up languages spontaneously through a range of meaningful learning experiences in diversity. They learn how to respect diverse traditions and interact with teachers and friends from other nationalities. We offer the renowned inquiry-based approach to learning where children’s ideas, interests, and theories inform the design of curriculum experiences. We encourage young children to explore their environment and express themselves using multiple ways of learning. During a child’s time at The British Pre-Prep, they will learn how to connect their innate curiosity to understand the world they live in. They will be inspired to become innovative leaders who are capable, resilient, and caring. Upon graduation, our children will be given a variety of school choices to extend their learning. 4. Branksome Hall Asia is the sister school of Branksome Hall, a 115-year-old independent girls’ school in Canada, consistently ranked as one of the world’s best boarding schools. Founded in 2012, we are an IB World School that offers the academically rigorous and challenging Diploma Program, Middle Years Program, and the Primary Years Program. At Branksome Hall Asia, we nurture the development of global perspectives and leadership through service, which benefits all students as they discover their “Remarkable” and their place as leaders locally, nationally, and globally. Our distinctive educational journey actively pursues our mission, “To challenge and inspire girls each day to love learning and to shape a better world.” This educational journey promises to support each student to discover within themselves a strong voice, to take risks and step outside their comfort zones, and the power to lead lives of curiosity, empowerment, service to others, and personal fulfillment. Dedicated to providing exemplary educational programs, our students grow as globally-minded learners and leaders prepared for the challenges and opportunities they will meet in a rapidly changing interdependent world. They grow as architects, athletes, debaters, doctors, engineers, historians, lawyers, mathematicians, musicians, researchers, scientists, writers, and much more, and often at the same time. From JK Prep to Grade 12, our students share their learning and living in a state-of-the-art world-class facility that embodies and encourages our value for intellectual inquiry, collaboration, effective communication, and strength of character. Branksome Hall Asia vibrates with students’ energy and warmth. The exceptional Branksome Hall Asia faculty fuels this energy. Experts in their field and dedicated to professional growth, their commitment to the highest levels of learning, to ensure each student discovers her unique “Remarkable,” is central to our success. The Arts are an integral and crucial element in nurturing creativity and the advancement of cognitive function. We provide a rich offering of visual and performing arts experiences for students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12. Students develop artistic skills and creative expression through music, dance, and drama opportunities. Branksome Hall Asia student musicians work with a team of professional visiting music teachers, including opera singers, guitarists, and songwriters, concert cellists, pianists, percussion and wind Symphony Orchestra members. We strongly encourage girls to play brass instruments to share the stage as brass soloists. Our most advanced players and singers are trained to audition for the prestigious Annual Senior School Honor Strings, Wind, and Choir Ensembles. We challenge our students to develop new skills, to learn more about themselves, and to make a difference in the communities in which they live and learn. This focus and encouragement towards a holistic education are delivered through various clubs and activities (outside of the classroom) and grade-specific advisory activities. Our classrooms are a foundation for learning giving our students tools to build on. Hands-on learning experiences outside of the classroom solidify the concepts that have been taught in the classroom. Students are given the means to enhance social interaction, leadership, and self-confidence. We focus on the questions of perception rather than the specifics of geography or language by exploring multiple ways knowledge can be combined, comprehended, and applied in our world. Taking on the roles within community organizations as collaborators and mentors, our students gain exposure and learn about various disparities locally and globally. These experiences enable crucial communication, organization, and teamwork skills. Founded in 1903, Branksome Hall is an independent school for girls. Today, the school is located on a 13-acre campus in Toronto’s Rosedale neighborhood and educates approximately 900 girls from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. The school was founded by Miss Margaret Scott, who served from 1903 to 1910 as the first Principal. Branksome Hall was originally located in a rental property at 102 Bloor Street East, with an enrolment of 70 girls. Seven years later, that property was purchased by the province and Branksome relocated to 592 Sherbourne Street. In 1912, the school purchased Hollydene, the elegant property at 10 Elm Avenue. The house, built in 1880, included a coach house, which soon contained classrooms, and a gymnasium. Holden's spacious lawns were perfect for outdoor games and garden parties. Over the years, both the campus and student enrollment expanded. Branksome Hall’s Toronto campus now includes more than a dozen buildings, ranging from heritage mansions to modern structures, a new Sports Center, and residence buildings. In March 2009, Branksome Hall was invited by the Korean government to establish a campus within the Global Education City on the UNESCO World Heritage-listed island of Jeju. Branksome Hall is identified as one of the World’s top eight schools by a Boston consulting firm, and thus won its place to be invited into this national project. Following the signing of an MOU in September 2009, the school initiated a three-month feasibility study, followed by Branksome Hall Board of Governors visits and ongoing meetings with the Korean Prime Minister’s office, the Governor of Jeju, and the Jeju Free International City Development Center (JDC). After almost 12 months of review, the Branksome Hall Asia project and our next phase of history were underway. In July 2010, Branksome Hall signed a Cooperative Venture Agreement during a ceremony held at Branksome Hall, Toronto. Planning and preparations began. An international architectural design competition was held to select the Branksome Hall Asia designer. MKPL won the competition and immediately began workshops and consultations with the Branksome Hall community and consultants to design a campus that would be innovative, iconic, and reflect the mission, vision, and philosophy of Branksome Hall. Parallel to the design and construction of this remarkable facility, a worldwide search began for the leadership team which was to lead the planning and establishment of the school. Admission of students to Branksome Hall Asia began in January 2012 and the Admissions team assessed and interviewed over 600 prospective students and presented to over 5000 parents in Korea, China, Philippines, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Canada, USA, Australia, Singapore, and Japan. Branksome Hall Asia limited its enrollment to approximately 300 students in its first year and will grow to 1200 students over the following six to eight years.2012 was a historic year for the Branksome Hall global community and we look forward to contributing further to our over 100 years of remarkable history. 6. Established in 1977 the Sultan’s School provides a high-quality education that allows our students to enter the world’s leading universities. Our outstanding facilities, together with a highly professional teaching staff means we are proud of our reputation as one of the leading bilingual schools in the region. The Sultan’s School exists to help young men and women to acquire those ethical and intellectual qualities that are necessary for leadership in the rapidly changing world of Oman. While the focus is upon developing these qualities in Omani citizens, qualified students from other Arab countries are welcome. The educational program will endeavor to produce versatile leaders who are international in their perspective. The school will be preparatory since it is assumed that most graduates will attend a university. The total school program will encourage each student to become a self-directed individual who assumes responsibility for his or her actions. Within the instructional program, there must be a delicate balance between maintaining standards and offering individual programs to meet the varying abilities, learning styles, and previous achievements of each student. Every attempt will be made to identify ability and nourish its development. The Sultan’s School is a co-educational school offering a bilingual Arabic-English holistic education from early childhood to pre-university. The school seeks to provide a broad and balanced education of the highest quality, which reflects and strengthens the Omani and Islamic culture whilst encouraging an international perspective and developing critical, creative thinking in its students. We are justifiably proud of the results our students have gained over the last four decades but we believe education is more than just test scores and examination results. Most of our students join the school in Kindergarten and throughout their 14-year‘ journey’, they have the chance to experience so much more than just what happens in the classroom, through our extensive and enviable extra-curricular and sports program, that is complemented in Years 12 and 13 by an exciting CAS Programme. Having been blessed with such a large campus, we have been able to expand and develop our facilities as the need arises. Today, our students and teachers have access to outstanding facilities that are the envy of many schools. Nevertheless, we are aware that to stay at the forefront of education in the region we need to continue to renew, upgrade and expand our facilities. Most recently, we have invested heavily in renovating and expanding our library, developing a specialist study center for our IB students, remodeled several primary classrooms, and have added more accommodation for the teachers and their families. We seek to encourage every child to make the very best use of their God-given abilities and talents, both within and beyond the curriculum. We, therefore, prize excellence not only in academic subjects but also in the arts and sport. Through laying the firmest of foundations in all aspects of education our children will grow into confident and happy students, who move on to secondary school with the broadest range of skills, and enthusiasm for their studies, and the determination to achieve to the very highest level. This is an exciting prospect and we look forward to working with you to make these aspirations a reality for your child. View full school

  10. Founded in 1994, Montessori Oman is a private bilingual Montessori Pre-school for children aged 2- 6 years Nursery, Kindergarten, and Reception. It is under the license and supervision of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Social Development. Internationally, the school is affiliated with Montessori Educational Programs International (MEPI) and The Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE). We are situated in a residential area in Al Qurum Heights. Our school aims to provide excellent Montessori education in a happy, relaxed and secure environment. The philosophy of Montessori education emphasizes the potential of the individual in ways specific to each child. Montessori Oman is committed to the teaching philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori with a belief that the most important time in a person's development is between birth and age six. Within a carefully prepared and intriguing environment and through the guidance of a loving and well-trained teacher, children are introduced to the joy of learning and move through their learning with confidence. Montessori Oman fosters individual excellence by encouraging each child's initiative and promotes independence as well as self-respect. We choose to emphasize our commonalities as a community rather than our differences. Montessori is an education for life, a learning process where children are encouraged to develop at their own pace in a safe and caring environment. It is based on the child's innate need to develop intellectual and physical abilities and provides a carefully prepared environment to meet and direct this need. The Montessori approach to education is child-centered and is based on mutual respect and cooperation. The teacher in a Montessori classroom is more of a guide and facilitator, respecting the concentration and varied learning approaches of the children. The innate creativity of the child is encouraged in curriculum activities from art and music learning to balance responsibilities with freedom of choice. Montessori offers children the opportunity to realize their potentials in a non-competitive environment and seeks to promote in them: Self-confidence and esteem. Independence and adaptability. A sense of achievement and self-worth. A corporation with others. Initiative and self-motivation. A sense of community and respect for their rights and others. Concentration and persistence in completing a task. Montessori Oman pledges to conduct professionally and personally in ways that will reflect our respect for each other and for the children we serve. We will do whatever is within our talents and capacity to protect the rights of each child to have the freedom and opportunity to develop his/her full potential. Our ultimate goal is to encourage children to become responsible citizens who have the ability and desire to fulfill lifetime educational and social goals. Respecting and nurturing your child's dignity and ability is a critical element of our program. In Montessori classrooms, our directresses address the specific needs of your child, who learns through work, play, and practice with hands-on materials. Our teachers are keenly aware of your child's developmental needs and introduce new challenges and materials accordingly. Our classrooms are very busy places. Indeed. Each is designed so that your child can access materials easily, selecting and replacing them at will. Always clean and tidy, our classrooms are also quieter than traditional classrooms. Because children choose their activities, they remain interested and engaged in what they are learning and accomplishing. Our directresses are always nearby, observing the children and preparing for the next lesson or question. Children develop a love of learning that shines through as they treat their materials with care, returning each apparatus to its proper place at the end of each activity. At the Montessori Oman, children work individually and are encouraged to work at their own pace. We help every child discover and learn from his or her individual experiences. Our directress observes your child as he or she works, and quietly offers guidance and direction. As your child masters an exercise, the directress guides him or her to the next activity and the appropriate next challenge. Every child needs a very special guide for his or her self-led journey of learning. Our teachers are skilled at directing the journey by asking questions rather than providing answers. This unique approach is the result of hundreds of hours of specialized training. Each directress and director is experienced in helping children build self-esteem and self-confidence through individual discovery. Our environment and method provide the discipline. Our teachers provide guidance. Our goal is simple. We prepare children for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning. Our directresses are committed to ensuring that your child receives a broad academic education in the context of a carefully planned, stimulating environment. Through our proven methods, we help children develop the essential foundation habits, attitudes, skills, and ideas that will shape the way they discover, learn and succeed in life. View full school

Events such as Pink Day, National Day, International Day, and our Charity Carnival as well as other charity and sporting events are already on the calendar and give another opportunity for our students to express themselves and to develop in different directions. Lastly, this year’s external examination results are now published, and once again many students have done themselves, their parents, and MIS proud.
