We feel so proud of our students’ achievements due to the parent's and school leadership support. One of the most important improvement strategies is the use of digital technology in classrooms. Grades four to ten boys and girls are using tech-supported tablets in class as part of the Tablet Program. Students are actively involved in the process where they can learn more effectively through interactive resources as well as standardized assessments. Students use their tablets to collect and analyze data, visualize mathematical functions, investigate historical events, or interact with simulations in Science. Our students will use technology to conduct virtual experiments, undertake standardized tests, or document their inquiry process and products. Research has found that this type of use helps students develop a deeper understanding of concepts, critical thinking skills, and other high-order thinking skills. The Tablet Program will play an essential role in supporting the development of essential learning skills. It can broaden access to information, enable multiple ways to present information and create knowledge, and diversify ways of communication and collaboration. Prepare students academically, educationally, and emotionally to achieve their goals and serve their country. A student who generates knowledge with perception and creative thinking. The curriculum at DAS is standards-based, meaning that the content taught is designed to meet educational standards in each content area at each grade level. The American Common Core State Standards form the basis of the DAS curriculum and have been adapted to reflect the specific goals of the school. The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Initiative is a state-led effort coordinated by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). The Early Years program at DAS utilizes an integrated thematic approach that ties the separate disciplines together into studies of the physical universe, the world of nature, and the human experience ensuring a smooth transition between the Early Years and Elementary programs. The DAS Elementary School is comprised of Grade 1-6 and uses the CCSS standards as the framework for its curriculum design while supporting these standards base on texts and resources from various publishers, including Houghton Mifflin Journeys (Language Arts, Science Fusion and Go Math. Social Studies is built upon standards-based thematic units and utilizes the classroom libraries and other resources. Subjects are integrated and progressive building upon skills, content, and themes each year. Beyond the academic core subjects, students have regular Physical Education, French, Art, Library, Computers, and Health classes. Today’s students are preparing to enter a world in which colleges and businesses are demanding more than ever before. Using a credit system, students are given a wide foundation in General Education and are taught a broad range of subjects including Math ( Algebra I and II, Geometry I and II, Calculus) English Literature, English Language, ICT, French, Arabic, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, World History, KSA History, Art and P.E. The new standards also provide a way for teachers to measure student progress throughout the school year and ensure that students are on the pathway to success in their academic careers.
