Click here to see our viewbook. We believe that a law degree is the most valuable professional degree available today. Indeed, as our world becomes increasingly complex and regulated, the study of law provides an extraordinary range of knowledge and skills that are highly valued, not only in the rapidly evolving legal profession, but in the business, government, nonprofit, and technology arenas as well. As the profession adapts to a structurally changed marketplace, NYLS is staying ahead of the curve. Our Strategic Plan addresses this exciting new landscape and provides a clear framework for our students to be the new leaders of the profession and beyond. That is why we focus on critical areas of employment and growth in the local and global economies, including in business and financial services, government and public interest and intellectual property, media, and emerging technology. To enhance the learning experience, we are leveraging our location in the heart of the City's legal, financial, government, and tech centers by embracing and integrating New York City as our classroom. This is where it all happens. And what happens in New York City matters everywhere. Indeed, our nationally ranked clinical and experiential learning programs afford every student the chance to gain real-world legal experience and contacts needed to be competitive in the new job market. Of course, our academic program's success depends on a strong, engaged, and influential school community. That is why our faculty of renowned legal scholars and practitioners are dedicated to student learning both inside and outside the classroom. They produce acclaimed scholarship and lead advocacy programs that help ensure access to justice, shape legal and public policy debates, and influence legislatures, the courts, and businesses. And they involve students in the process every step of the way. Further, our committed and diverse student body is focused on developing the knowledge, skills, and professional values necessary to succeed. Our students are as supportive of and excited about their classmates' success as they are about their achievements. Our mission is to provide an extraordinary and innovative educational experience that embodies the legal system's fundamental values and creates a bridge from scholarship and service to leadership and practice. To offer a vibrant, diverse, and forward-thinking center of legal studies where students develop the knowledge, skills, and professional values to serve their clients and have thriving careers advancing justice, building the economy, and serving the various needs of modern society and to serve as an incubator of ideas and actions to be emulated throughout New York City, the nation, and the world. As "New York's law school," we are committed to ensuring that our institution reflects the diversity and excellence for which New York is known. Towards this goal, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion supports students, administration and staff, faculty, and alumni in addressing all aspects of diversity, focusing on underrepresented communities and military veterans. For students, this means providing an educational environment that educates, challenges, and develops the knowledge, values, cultural competency, and professional skills needed to become a twenty-first-century attorney, prepared to serve in an increasingly global workplace. From application through graduation and admission to the bar, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion helps diverse students fully engage in the academic programs, student and career services, and law school opportunities. New York Law School immediately attained a formidable reputation due to its student's and faculty's excellence.Dedicated to providing diverse routes to achievement through innovation in scholarship, service, and professional training, by 1904, New York Law School was the country's largest law school. That year, the Law School's founders created one of the nation's first evening divisions to provide a flexible alternative to full-time legal education for those in the workforce or with family obligations. The Evening Division also allowed students to build upon previously established successful careers or begin a second career.
  6. Since 1952, a singular idea has consistently driven our curricula, training, and community work. That key guiding idea is Alfred Adler's groundbreaking concept of social interest or gemeinschaftsgefühl – the idea that our health resides in our community live and connections. Today's idea is more necessary than ever to drive the work and change most needed in challenged communities around the world. In 1952, Rudolf Dreikurs and his colleagues established our institution as the Alfred Adler Institute in Chicago—to train practitioners to apply Adler's idea of social interest or gemeinschaftsgefühl. Adler was the first to focus on wellness in the community context. He advanced the revolutionary idea that responsible practitioners must advocate changing the social conditions that affect population health and well-being. Today, Adler University continues this work to graduate students as socially responsible practitioners—educated to be effective personal and social change agents in the pursuit of justice. Across multiple disciplines and fields that impact population well-being, our alumni are changing the world. Our students come to us to learn how. Our faculty are practitioners, scholars, activists, and mentors who bring a range of experiences and perspectives on social justice and expertise to the classroom—through our Chicago, Vancouver, and Online Campuses. They regularly rethink and improve our pedagogy as the University builds new academic programs to meet emerging social needs. Programs such as our first-of-its-kind Doctor of Couple and Family Therapy, preparing expert practitioners in a field of growing demand, and our online Master of Arts in Nonprofit Management, focused on leading organizations for sustainable social impact. Our Master in Counselling Psychology: Art Therapy in Vancouver is British Columbia's only such program, preparing counselors to guide individuals and communities to greater well-being through art as social action. Our faculty and students—along with our Institute and Centers—are pursuing and producing fantastic work on social issues, including immigration and detention, social exclusion, the social determinants of mental health, LGBTQ mental health, and parenting. More than 600 agencies—and counting—are partnering with the Adler University as community practica and internship sites for our students, enabling our specialized preparation for work with underserved and marginalized populations. Adler University continues the pioneering work of the first community psychologist Alfred Adler by graduating socially responsible practitioners, engaging communities, and advancing social justice. Alfred Adler began community psychology by articulating the constructs of gemeinschaftsgefühl (social interest or the connection between individual and community well being) and systemic/structural community intervention (such as preventative public health measures). The three outcomes of the Mission are interconnected conceptually as well as through the organization of Adler University. The University's education and training prepare students to be socially responsible practitioners who engage communities and advance social justice during their course of study and their later professional lives. The University directly engages communities – through over 500 community partnerships including the direct service contracts of Adler Community Health Services and the training relationships which support the delivery of students' Community Service Practica – in order to provide students with experience training in socially responsible practice and to advance social justice within those communities. The University's Institutes for Social Change bring attention to social justice within the University through stimulating changes in the curricula and through specific didactic and experiential activities for students and faculty – as well as promote social justice beyond the boundaries of the University through engaging communities in a variety of programming. The leading academic institution advancing socially responsible practice, healthy communities, and more just society. The Vision is for Adler University to be the "leading" or premier higher education organization addressing socially responsible practice and its concomitants – locally, regionally, and globally – a unique resource for broadening consistent practice, effecting social justice, understanding policy, initiating advocacy, promoting academic reflection, and producing social action and change. The three external outcomes of the Vision are aligned with the three outcomes of the Mission. Socially responsible practice is central to Adler University's Mission and Vision. It is the extension of Alfred Adler's original ideas regarding the need for a more equal, cooperative, and just society, as well as his revolutionary ideas regarding the potential for activism among health professionals to address social challenges. The University's faculty defined and operationalized the competency of socially responsible practice, with expected knowledge, attitudes, and skills acquired through specific curricular experiences and evaluated through milestones, for graduate programs in clinical psychology, counseling, family therapy, organizational consultation, art therapy, police psychology, and many related disciplines and applications of psychology. Adler University is named for Alfred Adler (1870-1937), a physician, psychotherapist, and founder of Adlerian psychology sometimes called individual psychology. He is considered the first community psychologist because his work pioneered attention to community life, prevention, and population health. Adlerian psychology emphasizes the human need and the ability to create positive social change and impact. Adler held equality, civil rights, mutual respect, and the advancement of democracy as core values. He was one of the first practitioners to provide family and group counseling and use public education to address community health. He was among the first to write about the social determinants of health and mental health. Adler's values and concepts drive the Mission, work, and values at the Adler University today.

MSOE is committed to making its campus and the resources accessible to all. We welcome all students, faculty, staff, and visitors with disabilities. We are dedicated to ensuring that the MSOE campus is an accessible, welcoming working and learning environment for individuals with disabilities, including compliance with federal and state regulations. Student Accessibility Services is an affiliate of the Wellness Center and is committed to making MSOE academically accessible to students with documented disabilities (physical or learning), chronic health conditions, and mental health conditions. For students seeking accessibility, Student Accessibility Services (SAS) provides reasonable accommodations by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Sections 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as well as state and local regulations. Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) maintains its long-standing as an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and Educator. Therefore it is the policy of MSOE to provide equal employment opportunity to all individuals regardless of their race, ethnicity, color, creed, religion, sex, age, national origin, physical or mental disability, military and veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic characteristics, marital status or any other characteristic protected by local, state or federal law. This policy applies to all jobs at the University and all the terms, benefits, privileges, and employment/enrollment conditions. Employees and applicants with disabilities and disabled veterans are encouraged to inform Human Resources if they need a reasonable accommodation to perform a job they are otherwise qualified for. MSOE makes and will continue to make reasonable accommodations to the known physical or mental limitations of an otherwise qualified applicant or employee to promote the employment of qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans unless such accommodations would impose an undue hardship on the operations of the University's business. MSOE also makes reasonable accommodations for sincerely held religious beliefs. At MSOE, we believe in the transformative power of the international learning experience. That is why we make sure all students, regardless of major, have the opportunity to study abroad. Sant’Anna School

Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies is a public university institute - with special autonomy - working in applied sciences: Economics and Management, Law, Political Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, and Plant Biotechnology, Medicine, and Industrial and Information Engineering. The Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies aims at experimenting with innovative paths in research and education. Professors and researchers live and interact with the students, day after day, enjoying a continuous cultural and intellectual exchange. Innovative ideas, which are then developed in collaboration with foreign universities, organizations, companies, and research institutes, are generated here. Due to its international nature, education of excellence, and scientific community, the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies established itself as a reference both in Italy and abroad. The Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies is part of the EUA (European University Association) as an "individual full member". The origins of the Sant'Anna School date back to the late eighteenth century. In 1785, the Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Lorraine founded the "St. Anne Conservatory" in Pisa to attend. to "the education of young women of civil condition." The school is named after its first historic site, the former convent of St. Anne, a fourteenth-century Benedictine monastery, suppressed in 1786 as part of the Leopoldina reforms. The "Mussolini College for Corporate Sciences" had been founded in Pisa in 1931, and the "National Medical College" in 1932 was attached to the Graduate School and later reorganized into the "Medical-Legal College." The "Antonio Pacinotti College" was created in 1951, including the faculties of Economics, Engineering, and Agriculture. With Law no. 117 of 7 March 1967, the various colleges established a single "School of graduate and advanced studies," organized in the subject areas of "Social Sciences" and "Experimental and Applied Sciences," which settled in its current location between 1975 and 1979. In 1987, the Sisters of the conservatory, which was near to being closed, declared they were willing to sell it to the "School of graduate, and advanced studies," provided that the whole complex would remain named after St. Anne based on the model of the nearby Normal School, the "Sant'Anna School of graduate and advanced studies" was therefore established as a university institution with legal personality and administrative/disciplinary autonomy. At the same time, a library was created, which contains more than 70,000 volumes. The Sant'Anna School is a local institution well rooted in the city that has redeveloped many facilities for the benefit of the quality of academic life over the years. This page shows a list of the central locations, including the headquarters in Piazza Martiri Della Libertà. These campus sites host students and researchers, the individual Institutes, and the Guest House. The Quality Assessment Research recognizes the high level of research of the Sant'Anna School (VQR) results for 2004-2010 conducted by the ANVUR. The international magazine "Times Higher Education" ranked the school among the best universities in the World University Rankings 2015-2016.

Since they are the basis of its success, multidisciplinary initiatives will remain the School's central feature for future developments. The School's operational structure is based on a small number of professors/scientists, each of which is a Principal Investigator (PI), which carries out her/his independent research in collaboration with young postdocs and Ph.D. students. SISSA is open to international collaborations and has scientific agreements with more than a hundred institutions. Also, 10% of the permanent staff, 50% of the postdocs, and 33% of the Ph.D. students come from other countries. Our scientific personnel spent long periods in universities or research institutes abroad, with whom they maintain close scientific relations and very often they are part of several international collaborations (e.g., MATPYL, GEANPYL-II, IRSES, UTFit, ETMC, Planck, CECAM, PIRE, COMPSTAR, VESF - Virgo/EGO Scientific Forum, Ebex, Euclid, Magic, Agile, Fermi). Recently, MathLab, a new laboratory for mathematical modeling and scientific computing, started its activity to develop innovative solutions to meet the needs of industrial, business, and health sectors. The headquarters in Torino became an essential opportunity for our business school to move further to the companies on the Italian territory, which found in ESCP Europe Torino Campus a valuable partner for the training of their talents. The ESCP Europe Torino campus presents four distinctive characteristics. It is a young campus with the enthusiasm of a start-up and the phase of the healthy development of successful initiatives. Entrepreneurship, one of the critical values in which Torino campus believes in. This is fundamental for both; on the one hand, training managers and entrepreneurs able to make decisions also under challenging situations thanks to acquired skills and competences. On the other hand, by sustaining the development of entrepreneurial activities started by our students and alumni. Strong links with the business community are, for sure, one of the critical characteristics of the Italian Campus (over half of our activities are with the corporate world). This leads to a benefit for students, who can take advantage of the relationships of the School in the development of their academic and extra-academic curricula, for example, in terms of company projects, internships, applied research studies, entrepreneurial opportunities, and contributions of managers and professionals during the year. Academically, we offer you the highest international standards of ESCP Europe and its world-class certifications: EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA. We adopt it as much as possible by including in our didactics case studies and real-life situations, which can make you practice the role of decision-maker. This approach will provide you with excitement and learning opportunities. Teamwork is, therefore, another critical element of the equation, which you will practice from your very first class. To discover the many other reasons why the ESCP Europe is an established reality in the world of the management education and why it is worth doing a good experience in the Torino campus, we invite you to visit us, during the Opening Ceremony of the Academic Year or to the Grand Summer Gala at the end of the year.

Our vision is to be a regionally acknowledged, multiply accredited, multi-country provider of higher education services for a highly international and mobile student body interested in the frontier areas of business and management. Our mission is to provide economically and culturally relevant, English-language business and management-related education to people who can benefit from it. We are demand-led and customer-focused. We enhance learning, build confidence, and create an opportunity for all who choose to invest in studying at our school. IBS opened its gates in 1991, welcoming students who wished to study business in English. The founders of the school had long-term plans, and thus they moved the college (practically run in some rented rooms of an office block) from Kelenföldi railway station to the second district, one of the most beautiful districts of Buda. In 2014, IBS moved to the north of Budapest and is now offering a real campus experience with three brand new buildings in a business environment. The completely renovated, reshaped, and well-equipped buildings in Graphisoft Park – with the Residence Hall in its close vicinity – is a perfect place for studies and recreation with its riverside setting and garden. Following a successful institutional accreditation in 1997, IBS became a recognized private college in Hungary, with the right to issue Hungarian college degrees (called Bachelor's degrees today) besides the English degrees. Owing to the continuous and systematic development process, IBS runs eight Bachelor's and four Master's programs in addition to the single program (BA in Business Studies) available in 1991. The first degrees were awarded in 1995. The number of IBS graduates by 2012 is over 3300. Our graduates can be found in almost every country in the world, which provides enormous networking possibilities. To maintain this 'human' capital, IBS treats its Alumni community as a top priority and organizes monthly Alumni Evening. We are proud that every third graduate is an Alumni member, which is very high, considering that almost 50% of the students come from abroad. In order to maintain academic excellence, IBS puts particular emphasis on quality assurance. Besides our strategic partner, The University of Buckingham, we are accredited by several other quality assurance bodies. Our institution dramatically benefits from these accreditations since all these institutions have their rigorous evaluation methods. By continually striving to meet these quality standards, IBS keeps revising all its practices and processes in this respect only to result in the constant improvement of quality. It is of high importance to us that our students come from all over the world, and thus IBS maintains its multinational environment. Student life facilitates teamwork and relationship building among people of different cultural backgrounds. Our international partners offer great help in the recruitment of international students.
  20. 6The Budapest Business School, Hungary's market-leading and largest university, educating some 16 000 students, was established due to the Hungarian higher education integration, and on 1 January 2000, the three legal predecessors were merged. The predecessor of the FCCT was the Academy of Commerce, established in 1857. Expanded by the Eastern Academy of Commerce in 1899, this was the first college of commerce in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, in the Central European region. Experts for commerce and banking were trained at this School. After World War II till 1962, there was a secondary school of commerce operating in the impressive old building in Alkotmány street. By restructuring education, it became a Commercial School of Higher Education. Building upon traditions, it was given college status in 1969 by the College of Commerce and Catering name. The Institution finally adopted today's name, implying independent tourism training in 1992. The history of the FIMB dates back to 1957. At this time, the International Commercial Correspondence School was established to train highly qualified experts in commerce who speak foreign languages. In 1962 the School became an independent International Commercial School of Higher Education. In 1971 it was granted College status by the name of College of Foreign Trade. In 1992 two dual award programs were launched in English and French in cooperation with two international partner institutions of higher education. At present, some 4.000 students are studying the various programs offered by the FIMB. The history of the FFA can be traced back to the shared common origins of economic, vocational training of higher education, to the Pest Academy of Commerce established in 1857, then to the Eastern Academy of Commerce. In a strict sense, the College of Accountancy establishment in 1953 can be regarded as the date of foundation. The Institution took the name of the College of Finance and Accountancy in 1970-1971. A regional institute of the college was founded in Zalaegerszeg in 1971-1972, and another one was set up in Salgótarján the following year. Since then, FFA has become the flagship college of higher education in finance and accountancy. Graduates of the legal predecessor institutions and already of the BBS in the past years have become the most widely recognized and the most sought-after experts in the domestic labor market; several of them are prominent personalities of the Hungarian society and economy. In September 2006, eight undergraduate (BA) educational programs (Human Resources, Business Administration and Management, Commerce and Marketing, Communication and Media Science, International Business Economics, Finance and Accounting, Tourism and Catering, Business Teacher Training) were launched under the 'Bologna system.' In September 2008, the first independent post-graduate (MA) educational program (Teacher of Economics) was launched, which was followed by two new programs (Marketing, Tourism Management) in February 2009, and by three new ones (International Relations, Finance, Accounting) in September 2009. On 28 April 2010, the Budapest Business School received a Higher Education Quality Award to recognize its outstanding quality improvement achievement. In September 2010, the Business Administration doctoral (Ph.D.) program of Anglia Ruskin University was started due to the cooperation agreement between Anglia Ruskin University and the Budapest Business School (BBS). In 2016 BBS received the title of "University of Applied Sciences." In the academic year 2017-2018, Budapest Business School offers 12 undergraduate programs, six post-graduate programs, 21 short-cycle higher education programs, 48 post-graduate diploma courses, and a wide choice of adult educational programs. Ten programs, including three master programs, are launched in English, German or French as well. The Ministry of Education and Culture gave the Higher Education Quality Award in 2010 to recognize the quality management activity of the Budapest Business School. The quality policy of the university is formulated considering the following factors: The main requirement of the social and economic environment in the 21st century is the assurance of continuous improvement of Quality of Life through the complex quality management system of educational level, institutional infrastructure, institutional environment, our external partners, levels of knowledge, existential safety of our internal partners. Meeting the Bologna Declaration's requirements concerning the single quality management activity assuring transferability of credits, matching criteria, and methods in higher education institutions in the EU. Quality management work is co-ordinated by the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee under the Senate; operative tasks are performed by the Quality Management Office in collaboration with quality management representatives of individual faculties. The BBS, quality management system, was implemented step by step, and even today, it is under continuous development. On the accreditation in 2005, the Quality Management Manual (at present its third version is in force) was drawn up by the already appropriate quality management organizational unit, and Quality Management policy was formulated. The BBS's quality management system is fundamentally based on higher education quality management standards (ENQA/2005), and it considers the professional recommendations of the consortium of four higher education institutions formed within the framework of HEFOP/2004. From 2006 we have further developed our quality management activity based on the Excellence Model following EFQM Common Assessment Framework that conforms with the EU and is based on self-assessment. Even today, this is one of the directions of our development. As a result of self-assessment, we have mainly processed the strengths and weaknesses of conditions applying the PDCA model's logic in the interest of sustainable growth. Our quality management development is closely connected with the BBS Institutional Development Plan modified in 2007; it can be regarded as its integral part and its means. The long-term competitiveness of our Institution can be assured by sustainable quality management development based on excellence criteria. In addition to the present Excellence Model in our quality development strategy, we aim at introducing the quality standard MSZ EN ISO 9001/2009. In September 2010, we started it at all the three faculties of the college interested in more straightforward international comparability and more exact regulations. Our further aim is to make the MSZ EN ISO 9001/2009 standard higher education-specific by integrating higher education institutional standards into quality standards and to enhance the continuous development of the Excellence Model based on TQM. As a result of the successful implementation of its quality development goals, the Institution acquired an ISO Certification in April 2012. The BBS received the title of the University of Applied Sciences in 2016.
  21. In the present, evermore globalized era, there is, without any doubt, a need for homogenized curricula at a European level and a need for institutions that can offer students qualifications, knowledge, and skills that are recognized across national borders. Aiming to be continuously at the forefront of research and Education, the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) has created a higher education institution under the name of "European Law and Governance School" (ELGS), which constitutes the materialization of this need. The European Law and Governance School are founded upon the belief that the European Union plays a crucial role in ensuring global stability, promoting democracy, the overall progress of humanity, and that the European Union's core values must be upheld while it strives for better integration. The ELGS also believes that the critical source of hope and the only path to successful integration is through the proper Education and training of Europe's youth. Thus, the Vision of the ELGS is to create a generation of youth that will identify themselves as Europeans, serve Europe, and disseminate the idea, culture, and values of Europe throughout the world. Inspired by the values that lie at the heart of the European Union, such as fundamental rights, the free movement of professionals, goods, and services, and the creation of a single market system, as well as by the challenges and opportunities created by these policies, the ELGS has identified the need to create a new form of Education that is Pan-European. This Education must start at the undergraduate level to create and prepare the next generation of legal and governance scholars to work within the fast-evolving European and International institutional structures. The idea was initially conceived by Professor Giuliano Amato, Former Prime Minister of Italy, member of the Board of Directors of the EPLO. To that effect, in 2008, the "Group of Rome" was constituted around him and comprised of the most esteemed professors and practitioners. The Group met regularly to discuss the various strategic and operational aspects of the project. As the time passed, the project matured enough for the Board of Directors of the EPLO to decide in 2009 to create an EPLO agency called the "European Law and Governance School," thus providing it with all the necessary tools and empowerment needed to achieve its objective. The inaugural launching of the School took place with the first symbolic meeting of the Board of Trustees at the premises of the European Parliament in the spring of 2013. The further development of the School followed while 2015 marked the initiation of the Schools' programs. The European Law and Governance School (ELGS) is a modern international school with the aim and mission to offer Excellence in tertiary levels of Education in European Law and Governance. The School aims to shape socially responsible leaders of the future with inquisitive minds and free spirits. It aims to shape the European Citizens of tomorrow who belong to Europe and promote European values. The ELGS is committed to educating the next generation of Europe and the World's legal practitioners, public administrators, and world leaders by imparting them with the knowledge necessary to effectively work within the fast-evolving European and global institutional structures that transcend national frameworks and the skills to confront and address the new global opportunities and challenges. The ELGS provides interdisciplinary undergraduate, postgraduate, and Executive Education courses, with fresh material and a unique design.

  24. WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management is an internationally oriented and mainly privately financed Business School based in Vallendar and Duesseldorf. Founded in 1984, WHU is now one of the most renowned German Business Schools with an exceptional national and international reputation. WHU stands for "Excellence in Management Education" and pursues this goal in its three core areas of activity: academic programs, research, and transfer in the field of general management. This excellent standard has been certified by accreditations from AACSB, EQUIS, and FIBAA and leading positions in national and international rankings. Also, WHU is the only private business school in Germany which is a member of the German Research Association (DFG). WHU students profit from an extensive network of partner universities, companies, and alumni. WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management is committed to "Excellence in Management Education" concerning academic programs, research, and corporate connections. Our commitment to excellent programs includes generating first-rate graduates and establishing a life-long learning environment. Our commitment to excellence in research aims to produce high-quality intellectual contributions to academia and the business world. Regarding corporate connections, our commitment to excellence means that we maintain close ties with the business world and stay in intensive contact with various partners in business and society. The Excellence Strategy as of January 2015 continues to be based on WHU's long-standing vision to be among the top European Business Schools. In order to achieve this vision, the School will focus on the following strategic levers: Quality & sustainable growth: Further increasing the School's size while at the same time assuring WHU's high-quality standards. Decentralization: Fostering ownership and entrepreneurial commitment by decentralization in the School's organization. Digitalization: Allowing continuous improvement of programs and teaching formats, and to increase efficiency in many different areas. Diversity: Fostering internationalization and gender diversity in all stakeholder groups (students, faculty, staff) Executive Education & MBAs: Increasing the number of students in WHU's Full-Time MBA, Part-Time MBA, Executive MBA, and Executive Education Programs. Entrepreneurial spirit: Fostering the entrepreneurial spirit and culture of all members of the School. WHU was founded in 1984 at the initiative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Koblenz. After more than 30 years, it is not only counted among the best and most respected centers of business education in Germany, but it also enjoys an excellent reputation internationally. This success story makes it easy to forget the School's humble beginnings when it was located in an elementary school in Koblenz and the opposition faced by the founders against their idea of opening a private university. This idea of establishing a private university to balance the deficits in business education brought together the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Koblenz, Hanno Ludwig, its Managing Director, Karl Darscheid, and European Business School executive, Udo Glittenberg. Without their long-standing dedication and determination to operate a private university in Koblenz, there would be no WHU today. Initial considerations and discussions concerning the founding of a private university took place in the spring of 1983, culminating in the "basic concept for an independent, international elite university to prepare future leaders for the economy." In May 1983, this basic concept was submitted to the Rhineland Palatinate Ministry of Culture by Karl Darscheid, in his position as Managing Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Koblenz to demonstrate the state's business community's interest in such an institution. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry was the appropriate and credible negotiating partner for the Ministry of Culture, which was the instance deciding on the School's state recognition. The first pre-requisite for this was creating a university body, which was the only type of body that had the right to make an application for state recognition. This first obstacle was surmounted in March 1984 with the approval of the "WHU Foundation". The creation of a sound financial basis, which would ensure the business school's existence in its early years, would also not have been possible without the School's strong business contacts. After the School had been awarded state recognition, the first courses of study began on October 1, 1984. In its first few years, the School was located in the rooms of an elementary school in Koblenz-Karthause. Over the long term, the premises were insufficient for a growing WHU. A search was conducted for an appropriate home for WHU, ideally, a location that would offer scope for expansion. Finally, a suitable building was found in neighboring Vallendar. In August 1988, the School moved to the "Marienburg" in the center of Vallendar. The School was able to celebrate the inauguration of the new premises just in time for the beginning of the Winter semester on October 1, thereby concluding a period of provisional and temporary measures. The code of conduct's objective is to capture the WHU community's shared understanding of standards of good conduct in written form. It will help us act following the "WHU spirit," which will foster our goals as described in our mission statement and vision.
