        LUISS Guido Carli

LUISS – Libera Università Internazionale Degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli – is an independent university. It was created out of a pre-existing Roman institution, Pro Deo, between 1974 and 1978. LUISS offers an innovative educational approach at its four Departments: Economics and Finance, Business and Management, Law, and Political Science. Its goal is not merely to convey knowledge but to instill flexibility in young people, giving them a sense of mastery over their future. Furthermore, LUISS has four Schools for graduate and professional studies: the LUISS Business School, the School of Government, the School of Law, and the School of European Political Economy. Over 500 companies, multinationals, and public and private institutions collaborate with the University, offering its degree candidates and new graduates their first real opportunities to step foot in the business world. The LUISS Placement & Career Education Office provides students with opportunities to meet people in the business world and learn with them. This orientation and educational service facilitate the placement of degree candidates and new graduates in the business world with internships and training at companies, public, and private institutions. It also sets up recurring meetings and presentations with significant multinationals, investment banks, and public and private organizations and institutions. LUISS Guido Carli has its origins in an earlier Roman institution: Pro Deo University, founded in 1966. In 1974 a group of entrepreneurs led by Umberto Agnelli decided to invest human and financial resources in an innovative educational project aimed at executives. LUISS adopted a new educational approach, moving in the direction of top-notch international universities. Other relevant public and private industrial groups joined the University’s founders in subsequent years, along with financial firms, which brought businesspeople an authoritative representation to the University’s Board of Directors. In 1977, the University officially changed its name to LUISS— Libera Università Internazionale Degli Studi Sociali or the Guido Carli Free International University for Social Studies. A year later, Guido Carli, who was then President of the Italian industrial association, Confindustria, became the University’s President. During this period, increased emphasis was put on the underlying elements of LUISS’s educational approach: a rigorous admissions process, a set number of students, the study of foreign languages and IT, and a curriculum that is in line with the needs of the marketplace and closely linked to the business world. Guido Carli remained the President of LUISS until he died in 1993. In 1982, LUISS expanded its number of degree programs. The Department of Law was added to the Departments of Economics and Political Science.

      3. Our key success factors which differentiate us and make unique the Luiss Business School experience are Academic and Applied Research, and Management Education. LUISS Business School develops and promotes research in different academic fields, focusing on Strategy and Corporate Renewal, Corporate Governance and Performance Measurement, and Innovation and Organization Design. The research is grounded in business processes and corporate environments and covers new vital areas, such as Ethics, Responsibility, and Sustainability. The experiential activities and personal leadership are bridges between the needs of the corporate and public organizations and the academic world. LUISS Business School aims to develop students’ cognitive and soft skills, their capacity to relate in an international and multiethnic environment, learn from experience, and know their mission and vision for the future. This is mainly achieved by promoting an entrepreneurial spirit that introduces innovative programs where analytical thinking combined with a “can-do” attitude will lead to growth. LUISS Business School is a bridge between the academic and business world through its long-term partnership with Confindustria. Key partners from the corporate, no profit, and public sectors are directly engaged in the co-creation of specific programs that aim to advance knowledge on management practices. LUISS Business School experience is strongly international to guarantee a global approach and the possibility of creating a network with no boundaries. The architectural jewel of the 19th century was built according to the wishes of Baron Alberto Blanc, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Crispi,’s Cabinet. The campus will ensure students a unique learning experience thanks to the digital technologies offered combined with the prestigious historical setting. The location is formed by the main villa, six smaller villas, and conservatories with typical Mediterranean plants set in a vast park. The School is situated in one of the most remarkable, historical, and artistic parts of Rome, and its buildings mirror the atmosphere and the beauty of the city. LUISS Business School is a partner in growth and transformation processes. The School supports the growth and transformation of its corporate and institutional partners by providing talents and competencies through its education and research activities, thereby allowing them to face present and future economic and social challenges. This approach is unique through an entrepreneurial perspective combined with a problem-solving vision that is nourished by creativity and critical thinking. It focuses on the importance of sustainability, social impact, and diversity and understanding of the opportunities provided by digital transformation. LUISS Business School is the School of Business and Management of the LUISS Guido Carli University.
