  1. Taichung Cornel English School was founded on November 07, 1989. We offer an all-English environment for children to learn English. In 1990, Cornel kindergarten was found to be the first school offering Taiwanese children an all-concepts learning environment. Due to the fast growth of our student numbers, Cornel moved from No. 158, Kuo-Kuang Road to No.35, Nan-Men Road in 1997. The campus includes kindergarten and elementary classrooms, an office area, a computer room, and a library. In Summer 2001, we bought another office building and built a multi-functional room where children learn, exercise, dance, and perform their talents. At present, there are 3 buildings for all the kindergarten, elementary, and middle school students. Our foreign teachers come from English-speaking countries. Most of them are certified elementary or secondary school teachers in their home countries. We believe that great teachers produce brilliant students, and only professional teachers can help children learn English more efficiently within a short period. In 2002, we started our Middle School Program for students who had already graduated from Cornel’s elementary program. Also, we provide an online writing correction service for those who would like to practice writing at home. Cornel spares no efforts and we do our best to provide every student with a quality English education. We expect our students to not only speak English well but also be elegant, well-behaved, and talented. Cornel is a school led by professional educators. Every policy and decision is made for children’s English learning, instead of benefiting the owners. Cornel insists on offering the best teachers and teaching materials to help children learn happily and successfully. Cornel has a mission to help Taiwanese children learn English most efficiently and happily. When my family came back from America to Taiwan in the 1980s, my son, Er-Kang was still in kindergarten and spoke English fluently. we hoped that he continued to speak English well so that he can use the language freely and show the best of himself in his workplace. However, there weren’t any bilingual immersion kindergartens in Taiwan at that time. Although there were some English teaching institutions for children, they did not offer a systematic English learning method. we felt hopeless searching for a perfect school. Later, my American friend, Yve, suggested that we open a school of my own and help children to learn English in my ideal way. Having great ambition for my children, we founded Cornel English School. Society during that time couldn’t understand why an infant child should learn English. Many parents believed that learning English at an early age would cause a deficiency in Chinese and were afraid that it would turn out to be a waste of time and money. View full school

  3. In 2002, Adventist College Preparatory Center (ACPC) was founded to provide part-time English Language tutoring for high school students and college-placement assistance for students interested in attending English-speaking universities. During the first year, the school provided tutoring to 30 students and college placement to 6 students. Throughout the following years, the student population increased and, in 2005, the English-language training was eventually integrated into an American curriculum high school. In 2005, the Academy had its first high school graduates—a class of three. In the fall of 2005, ACPC changed its name to Taipei Adventist Preparatory Academy or more commonly known as TAPA. The Taipei Adventist Preparatory Academy continued to grow throughout the years until, in 2012, it reached over 150 students. During this time TAPA had many successes. One of the most notable was the transition to becoming a 1:1 iPad school in the fall of 2011- the first in the Seventh-day Adventist school system (of over 7800 schools worldwide) and the first in Taiwan. After 10 years of service to the students and families of Taipei, TAPA changed its name once again to include a stronger statement of the mission and goals we have for our school in the future. We are excited to share that our name is now The Primacy Collegiate Academy (or “Primacy”) and that our logo has been updated to include symbols that directly relate to our school mission statement as well as incorporate a color the represents the newness of spring: green. Today, Primacy offers approximately 150 students an enriched, expanding academic program. Our fully functioning, transition-to-English-fluency training smoothly integrates into a traditional American high school curriculum. As educators, our passion is to provide a holistic, progressive 21st Century educational environment that includes not only academics, but also emphasis on the development of students’ characters through building healthy lifestyles, caring for others, and knowing God. We hope that through their experiences at our school, and opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom, our students develop habits that lead to success for them throughout their lives. A Primacy education is a distinct, holistic approach to learning. Education embodies much more than just the academic pursuit of knowledge. Complete education also includes physical, spiritual, and emotional elements. It’s when you combine the pursuit of knowledge with the physical, spiritual, and emotional that you develop a complete approach to learning. The fusion of these four elements is what sets the Primacy education apart from other educational philosophies. While Primacy does offer a score of possibilities to our students, academic achievement is a top priority. Rigor and relevance underscore our curriculum, and although our teacher’s main objective is to present our curriculum professionally, our teachers are skilled in making sure every student is afforded an equal chance to master the curriculum. Academic students of all levels can find a home at Primacy, as we aim to challenge students with Advanced Placement® courses, while at the same time assisting developing students in achieving their highest academic level. Part of a holistic Primacy education is to encourage students to live active and healthy lives. The Primacy staff has a clear understanding of the correlation between academic achievement and a healthy lifestyle. Exercise, good emotional balance, and being involved in extra-curricular activities, such as sports and clubs, allow students to work on developing their whole being, which in turn gives needed skills to balance the stresses of life. As a Christian educational institution, a major part of our philosophy is to care for others and know God. At Primacy, we work with our students to develop an understanding that all people are created equal, and should therefore be treated with respect. The values that make up this philosophy include mutual respect, caring for others, and acceptance of all people. View full school

  5. Taipei Adventist American School is accredited by the North American branch of the Seventh-day Adventist education network. Founded in 1872, this network is the largest Protestant private education system in the world with over 7,790 universities, colleges, high schools, and elementary schools serving the needs of more than 1.8 million students. In the United States alone there are over 1,100 schools in all 50 states. The mission of TAAS is to provide American education to Taiwanese and international students with foreign passports. Its curriculum, teachers, and educational environment are equivalent to an American-based school. This level of quality and professionalism allows its students to enter American schools and universities on the same terms as domestic students. The mission of Taipei Adventist American School is to provide an academically challenging, Seventh-day Adventist, value-based, American education to K-8 Taiwanese and international students with foreign passports in the greater Taipei area. TAAS is committed to a nurturing environment that will provide opportunities for spiritual, academic, social, and physical growth. The vision of TAAS is to be the best-known school in Taipei for providing the most holistic instruction possible by following God’s blueprint for education. Here at TAAS, we understand the importance of training the whole child including the mental, physical, social and spiritual, or moral values. We use a top curriculum with small classes that have proven to be successful for students that have passed through our education system. We also provide opportunities for students to learn outside of the classroom through educational field trips, overnight trips like outdoor school, and even mission trips to other countries. Studies have shown that students who go through our system consistently score at least one grade level higher than the national average for the United States. The longer a child stays in our system, the better the chance they will have to be at the top of their class. We also believe that no matter a child’s academic level, religion, or nationality they can be a part of our school family. We strive to meet each student where they are at and help them grow in a diverse environment. This has proven to help students develop better social skills with those who are different. This in turn will help them be more successful at working with others when they are adults. Here at TAAS, our goal is to provide our children with the best possible education that will help them be successful in all areas of life, especially the spiritual and moral. Many parents have found the Christian setting to be ideal for their children as they experience the love and acceptance our teachers provide. View full school

  11. Taipei Kuei Shan School (TKSS), fully accredited by the Taipei City Government Department of Education in the Republic of China, was established in August 1963 as a small private K-9 school and intended to be an experiment in Taiwan Education. The founder, Professor Hsiong Hui-Ying, believed that the large class size of 50 students was the root cause of many educational issues such as learning difficulties and misbehaviors. Thus, Taipei Kuei Shan School was conceived as a research project to investigate this hypothesis based on the possible benefits that could be gained from significantly reduced class sizes. “The experiment design could be better. The test time could be longer. Although there are many shortcomings, with a strong desire and much effort, I’ve conducted a revolution-like attempt to the traditional teaching methods….” Taipei Kuei Shan School recognizes each child will grow into an individual made in the image of God. Our educational practices aim to foster self-worth as well as respect for others, are guided by proven effective methods, and are conducted in a student-oriented style. As a result of such nurturing, the unique gifts of each child can be developed into maturity. Taipei Kuei Shan School is a Christ-centered community where students have opportunities to know God, follow Him, and strive to live uprightly in a way He would approve. Our mission is to educate the whole person and develop life-long learners who are equipped to become knowledgeable and critical thinkers, effective communicators, responsible and engaged world citizens, virtuous servant-leaders, and enthusiastic stewards to serve one another, their community, Taiwan, and the world. Inspiring students to impact the world inspiring students to reach their greatest promise. Who are knowledgeable, critical thinkers, and independent learners? who are skilled questioners: able to define problems, determine what information to seek, and where to find it. who use technology appropriately to help solve problems. Beginning the fall semester of 2002, a Chinese-English bilingual program was launched starting with the 1st and 2nd grades. Keeping with the Kuei Shan tradition of experimental learning coupled with optimizing student learning, the new bilingual program aimed not only to provide an exceptional English literacy curriculum but to build upon the principles that had served Kuei Shan so well throughout its long history. 15. "The purpose of the foundation is the establishment and operation of private kindergarten and primary schools in the Canton of Zurich where the teaching is bilingual German-English. The foundation aims to cultivate, through educational and school measures, tolerance and understanding of foreign languages and other cultures in children." Important for the children! A school where children stand in the center. A school that perceives you as you are gives you a positive feeling of self-confidence and trust in yourself while making learning a worthwhile experience. You share the day school’s small world with both young and old children: when eating, on the playground, at assemblies, and on many cross-class projects and school festivals. The teaching and support team are interested in you and share this world with you. Fair rules give us all help and security so that we are mutually respectful, tolerant, and generous with each other. If there are disagreements, we look for solutions together. We are positive we will find one! A bilingual school that doesn’t stand still and is interested in open communication. The Lakeside School possesses a clearly defined concept while remaining religiously neutral and is therefore not bound by any particular ideology. Due to this, we have a broad outlook and time to reflect and exchange ideas. Anyone interested in the fascinating model of the school finds an open ear with us. The school management and teaching staff are involved in a constant learning process themselves and are happy to consider the personal viewpoints of parents and children. As a result of their training, expertise, and experience they can competently advise on how best to support the individual child. This commitment of getting to know and fostering each individual is very fulfilling and infectious. Due to the staff’s professionalism, children will increase their skills, knowledge, and social competence. Important for the children: topics are taught that engage and challenge you making you think, research, and contribute your ideas. You and all your senses are challenged and all this in a bilingual environment. This lets you immerse yourself in the languages naturally. A whole world will open up to you. View full school

  17. Hull's School was founded in 1945. In the 90s Hull's School became one of the larger independent schools in German Switzerland. Our four-year college program covers the UK Fifth and Sixth Forms. Students are prepared for IGCSE and A-level examinations. 85% of the students are German-speaking while 15% of the students are bilingual (English and German) or speak a language other than German as their mother tongue. 10% of the students do not have Swiss nationality. After the successful launch of an Adult College based on the British curriculum (IGCSEs and A-levels) Hull's School started an English 10th-grade program for Swiss and international teenagers which became part of a four-year program leading up to the British university entrance examinations (A-levels). Hull's School established itself as Zürich's 1st English College. The English College / High School prepares students for the British university entrance examinations (IGCSEs and International A-levels) which are fully recognized by universities in Switzerland (including the ETH and the world-famous St Gallen Business School) and all over the world. Most adolescents who join Hull's School very soon discover that they enjoy learning. English is very popular as a language of instruction The British curriculum enables them to discover their strengths and to succeed academically Difficult subjects frequently become less daunting when they are taught in English as teachers make linguistic allowances for students who are not native speakers of English The curriculum engenders independent thought and encourages team-work Students are introduced to different cultures and study two modern languages in addition to English The British curriculum enables students to succeed in Swiss universities and top universities abroad The teachers are English speaking Students receive free coaching in their weak subjects Students are given extensive pastoral support There is a wide range of exciting optional courses and extracurricular activities Students are encouraged to become part of the school's community by engaging in extracurricular activities. The aim is to involve students more deeply in the school, foster mutual support, and offer opportunities for students to develop their strengths and prove themselves as team players. Experience shows that students who are actively involved in extracurricular activities usually also perform better academically. Most leading universities outside Switzerland and all potential employers give preference to students who are both strong academically and interesting in terms of what they do in their free time. Contributing to the community is one of the key elements of life at Hull's School. Any students who invest 30 hours of their free time in work for the school community receive a Community Service Certificate. These certificates are expected by universities outside Switzerland and are also popular with employers. View full school

  21. Mosaic welcomes children till age 12, we are aiming at tomorrow’s adults. The mosaic school aims at making children aware of the richness of our differences. It prepares them from the very beginning of their school experience, to develop an in-depth knowledge of their own culture as well as of those they will be in contact with. French-English bilingualism: From age three on children are allowed to master both languages. From nursery onwards, an English-speaking and a French-speaking teacher co-directs each class. The school system, as well as society in general, values logical and linguistic intelligence. However, research by psychologists and neurologists indicates that humans use a much wider scope of intelligence. Each is particular and requires a specific environment to develop. Mosaic school supplies this. Mosaic’s mission is to contribute to the child’s global development in partnership with and in complement to the family. The school aims to stimulate and facilitate the child’s intellectual learning, artistic aptitudes, relational sensitivities, and emotional richness. In the long term, Mosaic will ensure the emergence, harmonious development, and mastery of each child of his/her competencies. In the immediate term, Mosaic aims to stimulate the child's global vision of life and to provide a comprehensive choice of tools to pursue self-fulfillment, along with the means to face his/her future social responsibilities. Ethics are at the center of Mosaic’s values: respect and autonomy. Respect is a right, autonomy is a duty. When an individual chooses to free her/himself, as much as possible, from her/his conditioning, he becomes autonomous. We are all responsible—families, teachers, schools, and students—because each acts as a role model for the other. Individual decisions, actions, and omissions bear consequences. Tolerance is essential because no rule exists that fully directs the student, nor anyone else, to develop a conciliatory attitude enabling him/her to act responsibly, honestly, and righteously. It does not stop “here and now”, but remains a collective global biological, cultural, historical, geographical, and social process. Autonomous judgments must come with the capacity to take responsibility for one’s own choices. Central to our teaching, cultures are carriers of knowledge and stand witness to the idea that individuals belong to a larger community. For children with special needs, there are many benefits to an inclusive learning environment. Regardless of their ability level, children learn from one another. In an inclusive classroom, children with special needs have the opportunity to observe their peers, who serve as positive role models by demonstrating the skills that the teachers and therapists are trying to teach. Being an equal member of a classroom community provides many important social benefits as well, including increased self-esteem and the formation of friendships. There are also many benefits for typically developing children, including learning tolerance, developing empathy, and gaining an appreciation for diversity. The real world is a diverse mix of people with a wide range of abilities. At Mosaic, we feel that the sooner we start preparing pupils for this, the better. Mosaic does not undertake to provide for all special educational needs such as severe learning difficulties, but in all grades, moderate special educational needs may be provided for. Mosaic accepts the presence of a classroom auxiliary (« shadow ») to help the integration of children with special needs if this is not deemed to disrupt teaching. Mosaic also favors external support (co-teaching with other schools, for example for dyslexic children) and collaborating with all partners for the well-being of the child (psychologists, etc.). 23. On the site of a former thread factory and easily accessible by public transport, SIS Zürich offers an exceptional infrastructure for all education levels. Over twenty spacious classrooms, a variety of special subject rooms for arts, music, crafts, and woodwork, a gym, and a library are to be found under one roof in the school building. A cafeteria and the popular roof terrace offer recreational space for personal development and stories – be it in German or English. SIS Zürich launched its bilingual college in August 2005. In the summer of 2012, we moved to the new school building at Seidenstrasse in Wallisellen. Today, we offer all educational levels from kindergarten to primary school, advanced secondary school, and college. Bilingualism is experienced both in class and day-to-day school life on all educational levels. The two school languages, German and English, act as a bridge connecting the diverse nationalities and cultures represented under our roof. SIS Zürich is an officially designated bilingual Swiss Gymnasium. Students can graduate both with the Swiss Matura and the International Baccalaureate (IB). Our modern, bright school building with modern classrooms, its gym, playground, and rooftop terrace appeals to all educational levels. Joint events and projects involving all age levels strengthen the diverse school community. A personal learning environment, an appreciative attitude, and a positive approach towards performance are what makes our school unique. Despite its size, SIS Zürich is a personal school with high-quality before and after school care where important skills and attitudes are imparted to children, adolescents, and young adults to help them find their way in a globalized world. Find out everything you need to know about the education levels on offer at SIS: preschool, primary school, secondary school, and college, culminating in the Swiss bilingual Matura and/or the International Baccalaureate (IB). Learn more about the continuous education from kindergarten through to secondary and college level at SIS – one of the major advantages of our bilingual educational concept. SIS Swiss International School Zürich provides a complete education from preschool through to secondary school and college. On all levels, subjects are taught in German and English. Bilingualism, however, is not a requirement for entry at any level. “The sooner, the better.” When it comes to learning a language, this statement is irrefutable. In preschool, children are at an age when their language is particularly susceptible to outside influences. This is why it is important for them not only to practice the second language but also to use it naturally to engage with the world. As a result, kindergarten will prove to be a varied and exciting time for both children and parents. Our bilingual Kindergarten offers a well-supervised, safe, and stimulating learning environment for children aged four to six. SIS has developed its curriculum for children in this age group, comprising six areas of learning and discovery. Our Kindergarten is the ideal preparation for the transition into bilingual SIS Primary School. At our bilingual Primary School, teaching is based on the curriculum of the respective canton. This state curriculum is supplemented by elements of international educational practice as well as by pedagogical standards developed by SIS. By attending our Primary School, children are ideally prepared for the transition into our Bilingual College. Students can transfer from and into the public school system at any time. Following primary school, SIS Zürich offers a three-year advanced secondary school program generally known as progymnasiale Sekundarschule. Since the curriculum is similar to the one used at the college level and classes are largely taught by college teachers, it offers students an ideal preparation for continuing their education in the four-year college program. At SIS secondary level, English and German are equally important, both as languages of instruction and in other parts of day-to-day school life. However, unlike in primary school, each subject is generally taught exclusively in one language. At the college level, SIS Zürich offers two attractive options to students: the Bilingual College and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. With the Swiss Matura or the IB Diploma, there is no limit to the educational opportunities available to our students. As a school, we are committed to doing everything we can to support children as they are growing up and to provide a valuable complement to their family life. This includes lunchtime meal offers, homework supervision, flexible drop-off and pick-up times, as well as exciting activities, even during school holidays. SIS Swiss International School Zürich is a day school. Including our optional before and after school care, the school day runs from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. It is important to us that students of all age groups feel happy and comfortable at our school, which is why we offer a range of services to cater to our students’ various needs. 25. The Ecole d’Humanité is a progressive, international boarding school in the heart of the Swiss Alps that fosters the discovery and development of individual talents in an atmosphere that encourages self-determination, innovation, and tolerance. For over a century these words have expressed the essential challenge that our school invites its students to take on. And because each student is different, this challenge assumes a new form for every one of them. A belief in the utter uniqueness of each student forms the core of Ecole’s philosophy of education. We trust in and respect our students in all their diversity, and we listen to and value their voices. We foster a culture of individuation and negotiation, a dynamic middle way between conformity and rebellion. Ecole students co-construct their school experience, reflect on their successes and struggles, and find their particular niches in a cohesive and lively community. Here they can grow and express their uniqueness, knowing all the while that they are a necessary and valued part of the whole. In such an environment they develop confidence in their strengths and aptitudes, a realistic appraisal of their weaknesses and stumbling blocks, and an intrinsic sense of responsibility and compassion. When the creative risk is encouraged, education becomes an adventure. The Ecole is a diverse learning community composed of students from a wide range of cultural, national, and economic backgrounds. We look for students who think and act genuinely and independently, who wish to discover and develop their unique gifts – whatever these may be – to the full. If you wish to join us in the adventure of discovering who you are in the context of a lively, creative, and sometimes demanding community life, we encourage you to apply. "When the creative risk is possible, education becomes an adventure." Academic life at our school is not a spectator sport! Choice and passion, negotiation, and what-ifs: at Ecole, students actively shape their learning. Even before classes start, Ecole students determine when and how they will study what, constructing an academic program that they will own, not just participate in. Once classes start, students work together in small groups, develop original problem-solving skills, and dare to ask difficult questions. They receive individualized, carefully differentiated feedback instead of grades, and actively and regularly reflect on and evaluate their work. Our graduates become diverse learners and leaders who possess the intellectual, social, and ethical habits to positively impact their communities. "The quality and quantity of social interaction in the Ecole community, along with wonderful physics and math classes with five or six students, made a lasting impression on me, and contributed in a major way to my decision to become a doctor."
