Asker International School is a new school recently established within the municipality of Asker kommune. The school first opened its doors in August 2013. Starting with 5 grades and expanding vertically every year, the school offers an IB structured curriculum. The school started in 2013 with 39 students and 8 employees. We now have approximately 300 students and 36 staff employed in either part-time or full-time positions. We are fortunate to have waiting lists for almost all our grades. We are currently registered as an authorized world school in both the Primary Years Programme and the Middle Years Programme. So far we have representation from over 40 nationalities within our small school community and look forward to expanding this representation to create a truly international environment. From August we will have 10 classes in our Primary section and we are introducing our first grade, 10 class, to the Middle Years Programme, meaning we are undertaking the personal project for the first time this year. We have parallel classes in PYP and currently only single classes from grades 6 to 10. We have a maximum capacity of 20 students per class. Our subject provision in the Middle Years Programme is Mathematics, English, Norwegian, Sciences, Individuals and Societies, Physical Education, Performing arts (Visual Arts currently in grade 6), Design, Spanish (G8-G10), and Mandarin. We do not have an elective foreign language at present. This will probably change as we expand into parallel classes in grades 6-10. The Sweden Finnish School in Upplands Väsby is a private school. October. Today the school consists of pre-school, kindergarten, and compulsory school grades 1-9. Lycée Français Saint Louis in Stockholm was established in 1959 and receives 698 pupils during the academic year 2019-2020 in the international part of the school, from “CP” to “Terminale”. These students, aged 6 to 18, follow the French curriculum, the same as in French schools in France. The younger children are received in a Swedish “Preschool”, which has no agreement with AEFE and is attended by approximately 60 children. These children can later continue to the first class in the school, CP. Lycée Français Saint Louis – is an “International School” approved by the Swedish state, and consists of low and middle school, upper secondary school, and high school. The low and middle school (CP to CM2) welcomes 329 students in 16 classes, the upper secondary school (from the 6ème to the 3ème) welcomes 239 students in 10 different classes, and the high school (from 2nd to Terminale) welcomes 130 high school students in 6 different classes. The teaching provided is in line with all French schools in the AEFE network, ie a French-language education that respects the French National Ministry of Education’s curriculum, schedule, and regulations. At the school, the “Le Diplôme National du Brevet” is being prepared during the final year of secondary school and “Le Baccalauréat” for general education – with the specialization L, ES, and S, and the Swedish OIB, with an approved diploma, during the last year of high school. Students with Swedish as their mother tongue can also study for a Swedish upper secondary school diploma and obtain a Swedish final grade (Slutbetyg). For a long time, the Lycée Français Saint Louis has obtained excellent exam results. In 2019, 100% of candidates obtained their “Baccalauréat” (Lycée) of which more than 41% with the result “very good” or “good”. 99.8% of the candidates obtained the “Diplôme National de Brevet” (Collège) of which more than 68% with the mention “very good”. These excellent results, which are among the best of International French schools around the world, attest to the high quality of the education at our school. With its agreement with l’Agence pour l’Enseignement Français à l’Étranger, (AEFE), the Lycée Français Saint Louis is part of a network of 496 similar schools in 137 different countries around the world. At AEFE’s schools, more than 355,000 students are studying, of which 40% are French and 60% come from other countries. The Headmaster, Laurent Cantuel, and the Director of the Low and Middle School, Maël Renault, are expatriated Frenchmen and employees of AEFE. The school is governed by Swedish law, through the Lycée Français Saint Louis Foundation in Stockholm, with Henrik Hansson as chairman of the board and Yves Chantereau as vice-chairman. The teaching is carried out by qualified teachers from France, as well as by local staff, certified French or Swedish teachers. All students are taught Swedish from first grade and Swedish teaching continues in primary and secondary school. It allows the students to transition to the local education system or to further their education in Sweden after obtaining their diplomas.
