About Me

  1. We are a Kindergarten to Year 12, co-educational, independent Christian school, set in a picturesque, semi-rural location on Sydney's Northern Beaches. We are dedicated to providing quality education within a caring, nurturing, and empowering learning environment from Kindergarten to Year 12, one underpinned by a solid Christian foundation. We focus on the development of the whole child – body, mind, and spirit. We believe that education encompasses more than academics and includes character and spiritual growth. In partnership with you, we aim to produce educated young men and women who are tomorrow's leaders, confident and self-motivated learners with the skills to discover and achieve their full potential in all areas of life. Our vision is to develop each child's child's unique qualities for their future — academically, physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Throughout their 13 years of school, we aim to partner with you, the parents, in developing your child's character to become mature, well-rounded adults, contributing positively to their communities. With this in mind, we have identified six key attributes that we hope to instill in them that will prepare them for their future. Our Vision Statement is to develop each child child's unique qualities, equipping them to enjoy a successful, Christ-centred life. Our Mission Statements provide Christ-centered educational excellence, encompassing each student's spiritual, physical, emotional, and academic development. Our Statement of Faith beliefs is by the Bible, which is God's infallible and authoritative Word. As a summary of our faith, we believe: There is one God the Creator, eternally existing in three Persons — God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God, we believe in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious (enduring death for all men) and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father. It may seem obvious, but education is the first responsibility we have as a School to our students and families. We aim to impart a love of learning in our students to value and embrace the importance of being educated. We employ professional, experienced staff who are highly trained and consistently learning to improve themselves and educate the young people for whom they are responsible. Recognizing and developing spirituality forms an integral part of our children's children's development. This entails growing in knowledge and faith in God and understanding and practicing love for ourselves and others. Chapel, Christian Studies, Pastoral Care, Camps, Connect Groups, and our Youth Pastors are essential avenues to impart this attribute to our students. In the early 1980s, Dr. Phil Pringle (Senior Minister, C3 Church Oxford Falls) had the vision to start a Christian school that was intentional in its spiritual direction and exemplified strong Christian characteristics while offering contemporary, quality education. In 1984 Northside Christian School (now Oxford Falls Grammar School) opened its doors, and by the end of that year, 24 students were enrolled. Through their diligence and perseverance, Dr. Pringle and the original School Board established Oxford Falls Grammar School and later released it to run under an independent, autonomous Board. 2. Underlying everything at Teddies is our mission to prepare our pupils for the rest of their lives by encouraging their passions and talents, enabling them to discover new ones, and supporting them to achieve their potential. Our community fizzes with diverse interests and enthusiasms, while our academic excellence means 90% of our top pupils gain the highest grades in their Sixth Form exams and take up places at the world’s best universities – a record which exceeds the outcomes of many highly selective schools. We are one of a few schools to offer both IB and A-Level alongside each other at Sixth Form, and in our Middle School Program, we have introduced new courses to stretch our candidates at GCSE level, responding directly to the very latest research into how young people learn. Teddies is a fully co-educational boarding and day school, with a wide range of pupils from around the country and 15% joining us from 40 different countries outside the UK. We offer a wide range of scholarships and bursaries. Being co-ed is important to us. Not only does it represent life beyond the school gates, but we feel it contributes to the inclusive and friendly community that brings our pupils, parents, Governors, staff, and the local community together. We reinforce this by enabling pupils to volunteer regularly in the community of north Oxford. At St Edward’s, we encourage an unremitting focus on learning. There is a tangible ethos, inspiring pupils, staff, and parents alike, that anything is possible. There is a belief within the School that everyone has something to contribute to society moreover there is a genuine conviction that each pupil can strive for excellence and has the potential to enjoy real academic success at the highest level. 4. Achieving and sustaining world-class excellence in every area of our teaching and research is at the heart of the University of Oxford's mission. The following pages provide an insight – from the perspective of students and graduates – into the experience of applying to the University of Oxford, studying at the University, and the opportunities available after graduating. Our students receive intensive education, including our distinctive tutorials, and are taught by academic leaders in their field. Colleges provide multidisciplinary communities within which students are supported and intellectually challenged and can meet people from all walks of life and many different countries. The University of Oxford aims to lead the world in research and education. We seek to do this in ways that benefit society on a national and a global scale. Throughout this Plan, we will build on the University's long traditions of independent scholarship and academic freedom while fostering a culture in which innovation plays an important role. The University of Oxford's distinctive structure, born of its history, is a source of strength. Its colleges offer supportive environments that are supportive of individual scholars and characterized by a defining and enduring sense of community. The personal sense of academic identity that they provide is life-long. To develop our capacity to generate and share knowledge in the UK, Europe, and globally, ensuring significant contributions to public policy-making and economic growth. To work effectively with other institutions and organizations, such partnerships can lead to outstanding research and teaching. To fulfill the aims, no potential student should be deterred from applying to Oxford by financial or other barriers, and that financial difficulties should hamper no student's success. To recruit and retain the best academic staff and ensure that under-represented groups have equality of opportunity in recruitment, personal development, and career progression in all employment areas in the University. We will monitor progress against our priorities, commitments, and aims using relevant performance indicators, benchmarks, and targets. Through this, we will maintain focus on the Strategic Plan, ensuring that it continues to meet academic needs, enables us to respond to the external environment, and is updated as appropriate. The University of Oxford is active worldwide across the broadest range of disciplines. With Oxford University Press, our global involvement in education from the pre-school level onwards puts us in a unique position to influence and engage with the world. This global reach in itself draws students and staff of the highest international caliber to the University, taking Oxford's way of engaging with the world with them when they depart. We will seek opportunities to coordinate the University's activities more effectively, and we will build upon Oxford's excellence in, and commitment to, the delivery of education for all. A marvelous university conveys the knowledge created by its community and is open to new ideas generated elsewhere. We will maintain the freedom for individuals and research groups to decide what to research while clarifying where and how to access Oxford expertise. We will seek to develop external collaborations, noting that these may be most effective in those areas where research and teaching strengths are complimentary while supporting connections between research groups at the level of individual projects. The University's extensive network of libraries and museums offers unique opportunities to learn and engage with resources. We will continue to enhance our collections to the benefit of future generations. Access to the University's collections will be improved through programmatic digitization, extending the appreciation of Oxford's role in preserving and sharing the record of human existence and cultural achievement. Access to our museums, galleries, and scientific collections contributes significantly to our public engagement on regional, national and global scales, and we will continue to promote this through programs of events and exhibitions and by fully exploiting the opportunities offered by the web, social media, and other innovative modes of transmission. We will keep under review our undergraduate and graduate admissions processes to ensure equal treatment for all applicants and the effectiveness and consistency of good practice. These reviews will encompass policy on attracting and identifying the best home and international students and policy on continuing education and part-time students' admission. We will seek to ensure that teaching and assessment at Oxford provide an equal opportunity for all students to achieve and demonstrate their full academic potential. To inform this work, we will monitor the academic progress and outcomes amongst students from different backgrounds. We are committed to providing professional development training of the highest quality through Master's and other programs in identified areas and critical professions. We will also explicitly identify the professional and employability skills inherent in our courses, develop further opportunities for funded internships, and encourage students to engage with wider communities while still at Oxford. Strengthening Oxford's global and digital online presence, as signaled in our new priorities, will ensure students studying at Oxford have improved access to materials. We will develop a digital education strategy that builds on our online learning expertise to communicate knowledge created within the University. This will benefit all students, whether studying full-time, part-time, or through the flexible courses offered by the Department for Continuing Education, as well as staff, alumni, and broader society. 5. Ruskin College is an independent college located in Old Headington, three miles from the Centre of Oxford. It was founded in Oxford in 1899, providing vocational degrees, apprenticeships, and access programs with a social purpose that transforms individuals' lives. We are a small college with big ideas with 118 years' experience of enabling individuals to realize their potential in social work, activism, social care, youth work, public service, politics, voluntary work, and the creative industries. We specialize in providing educational opportunities for adults with few or no qualifications and aim to change the lives of those who need a second chance in education. Ruskin welcomes students who want to develop themselves and want to put something back into society. For many of our students, financial, personal, or social obstacles made it impossible for them to seize educational chances earlier in their lives. We understand that. We also recognize that, for many adults, returning to education raises fears and anxieties and awakens hopes and excitement. We offer university-standard education in the informal setting of a small residential College. Are you looking for a second chance in education? Do you want to get a degree but are not sure you can? Did you miss out on exams at school and are not sure you can be a student? If your answer is yes to any of the above, then Ruskin is the place for you! All the staff at Ruskin are aware that many adults are nervous about returning to study. To help with that, we have provided information on how to make an application to the College, our open days, how you can finance your studies (including information on scholarships and bursaries), the College term dates, the excellent on-course student support we provide, our library, and if you are still not convinced, you can read our 'Why study at Ruskin' section! A society where everyone has access to quality education regardless of their background and the opportunity to fulfill their potential. To provide the best level of education and inclusion opportunities to adults - particularly those who may be excluded or disadvantaged - and transform the individuals concerned and the communities, groups, and societies from which they came. Ruskin College has been providing educational second chances since 1899. We offer life-changing opportunities to adults with few or no qualifications. This ethos is central to everything that happens at Ruskin and must be protected and cherished. However, the world is changing rapidly, and we must adapt and modernize to ensure that we remain relevant, stable, and responsive. We must make sure that we are producing students who can thrive in this changing world. Suppose we want to continue enriching lives and improve our students' chances of success in an increasingly competitive environment. In that case, we must review what we do, how we do it, and what we offer. This three-year strategic plan (2017-2020), 'Students First' clearly sets out how we will respond to those challenges. It sets out our vision for preparing Ruskin for a changing world. We will do this by simultaneously protecting our history while securing our future. The 10 'Strategic Priorities' and actions in this plan are closely linked to the existing 'Strategic Aims.' This new clarity will enable the plan's progress to be monitored at all levels of the College. Our College is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. The Governing Executive is responsible for agreeing on the strategic direction of the College and for approving policies and financial plans. There are currently 22 members recruited from the College Council, which comprises representatives from organizations sharing Ruskin's ideals who meet twice a year to offer advice and experience. Members of the Governing Executive are Directors of the company, registered with Companies House and the Charities Commission, and their role is unpaid, excepting travel expenses. Members commit to attending at least three meetings each year. The Governing Executive has several Standing Committees that meet regularly, such as the Audit Committee, Finance Committee, and Search Committee. These are listed below, along with the membership and minutes. Other critical governance-related documents, including the College's Annual Report and Accounts, can also be found here. 6. Oxford Brookes University has over 150 years of history. We started as a small School of Art in borrowed teaching rooms and have grown into one of the UK's top modern universities with a local, national, and international reputation for teaching and research excellence. We have a lot to be proud of and see some of our recent results and achievements here. Oxford Brookes is thinking globally, growing our international footprint, and furthering our already world-leading research. Significant investment in our estate has already resulted in multi-award-winning facilities, and this investment carries on with a £220 million investment over the next ten years. We are also continuing to drive teaching excellence. Our high student satisfaction with teaching quality results from exceptional academics who are talented, supported in their career development, and creative in their delivery. This provides our engaged students with a stimulating learning experience, including opportunities to develop skills both inside and outside their studies, with co-curricular projects to fuel their enthusiasm and hone their abilities. Our university's character is evident in our graduates who use the connections and experiences they gain during their time with us to achieve career success and make a difference to the world. Our many achievements are also down to our fantastic and dedicated staff, all 2,800 of them. Together with our students, alumni, partners, and local supporters, we are a close community, vital to our ongoing success. Our programs are accredited by 36 professional bodies across 17 subject areas and recognized by leading employers. Oxford Brookes University began life as the Oxford School of Art in 1865. It occupied one room on the ground floor of the Taylor Institution in the center of the city. Five years later, the School of Science was incorporated. Classes in a range of scientific and technical subjects were available. As well as evening classes in the University Museum. In 1891 the School was taken over by the Technical Instruction Committee (part of Oxford City Council) and renamed Oxford City Technical School. John Henry Brookes became Vice-Principal of the Oxford City Technical School and Head of the School of Art in 1928. Over the next 30 years, he worked on the development of the institution. His goal was to make education available to all. In 1949, the School moved to a 25-acre site in Headington. Brookes referred to the move as ''setting foot in the Promised Land'' Lord Nuffield laid the foundation stone six years later. Over the years, there were more mergers and name changes. Finally, in 1992 it was named Oxford Brookes University. Today, Oxford Brookes University is a thriving community of staff and students. Committed to helping our students achieve their potential. And to become graduates prepared for fulfilling and useful lives. John Henry Brookes (JHB) was an artist and craftsman, teacher, and outstanding educationalist. He is often described as the spiritual founder of Oxford Brookes University. JHB was born in Northampton in Victorian times. His father was a highly skilled bootmaker, and his mother a tailoress. Craftsmanship and teaching were an integral part of his family history. He became Vice-Principal of the Oxford City Technical School and Head of the School of Art in 1928. Over the next 30 years, he exerted a powerful influence on the development of the institution. Throughout his life, he was committed to the goal of making education available to all. In 1992 Oxford Polytechnic became a university and decided to honor its founding Principal, John Brookes, in its new title. Oxford Brookes University. We encourage our students to become active citizens, and they are regularly engaged in social action. Our award-winning social entrepreneur program encourages social innovation, with students bidding for funding and setting up their social enterprises to address a range of social and environmental problems. In 2017, nursing students won funding to develop their project to research the needs of non-trauma limb amputees in the UK to identify what can be done to improve the emotional and psychological support. Students volunteer both abroad and locally in the UK, getting involved with many charities. Volunteering provides a valuable springboard into their careers. View full university

The form includes a report on the student’s academic achievement, his/her behavior and conduct, and financial clearance. Returning students from 7th – 11th Grades are not registered unless on the recommendation of the immediate principals based on their conduct and commitment to rules and regulations. 10. Established in 1988, Oxford Sixth Form College is one of the UK’s leading independent sixth form colleges for students aged 15-19. Formerly named Oxford Tutorial College, we sustain the tutorial tradition through an average class size of three students and through having no more than six students in an A-Level class. We offer greater flexibility than mainstream schools with over 30 subjects on offer across A-Level, GCSE, and BTEC. For students looking to improve on their results, we also offer specialized, examination board-specific, A-Level retake programs that provide the right environment for you to have the opportunity to improve your results and secure a place at a top university. We are committed to not only providing you with expert tuition but also providing you with the support you need to reach your potential from the moment you make your application. Our students speak of the college environment as being a warm, friendly, and very welcoming place. Whether in the classroom at college or in our boarding houses, all staff provide wonderful guidance and support to ensure students enjoy their time with us and go on to help achieve their personal and academic goals. Our students progress to a wide range of degree programs at top U.K. universities including business management and economics mathematics, engineering and computer science medicine and law art and creative media history and international relations. Our location in the very heart of the city of Oxford, with neighbors including University of Oxford colleges Oriel and Christchurch, is steeped in academic history and one that serves to inspire our students and us to build a successful future. The College offers an approach quite different from that of a traditional school. The key to the Oxford Sixth Form College learning environment is that we aim to provide an alternative to the mainstream. This means that in addition to offering a mainstream, academic, two-year A-Level program, we provide A-Level, BTEC, and GCSE programs of study that in terms of their length, start dates, and combination of academic and vocational subjects are rarely available in mainstream independent schools. We are very much a college preparing young people for the responsibilities of life at university and beyond rather than a school. The culture of the College encourages hard work and a growing sense of responsibility in a supportive environment. From the first meeting with a student at an admissions interview to identify their goals and motivation to providing clear, constructive support, including individual learning plans, during their time with us, we treat each of our students as an individual. Our teaching approach is refreshingly interactive and informal. The support provided by subject tutors is thoughtful and creative, focusing specifically on individual learning styles. Students are encouraged to take an active part in the learning process at every stage. Course material is taught clearly and directly, with careful review and continual practice of previous examination questions. Tutors ensure that students develop a good set of notes and encourage systematic revision. Time is also allowed for an overall subject review as the examinations approach, to check to understand and enable further exam practice. A key part of the Oxford Sixth Form College learning environment is that an active learning style is encouraged and each student may be asked to present material and exchange views with others. This is followed by guidance from the teacher on the interpretation, manipulation, and analysis of the material. Preparation is required. Teaching groups consist of no more than six students in A-Level groups and no more than ten students in the other programs we offer. This small group size enables close discussion of each topic whilst still allowing a high degree of personal attention. Our College is housed in a row of handsome Victorian houses just a few yards from Oxford High Street. The center of Oxford is small enough to explore on foot and is also within easy walking distance of the bus and rail stations. Students can enjoy Oxford’s bookshops, galleries, and museums – many of which are world-class relax and go punting on the river that flows through the city or choose from the many other cultural offers of the city. The main College premises are in King Edward Street, with three further sites within walking distance, all in the heart of the University precinct. We maintain a supervised library well-stocked with essential textbooks and reference materials, and students also have access to a substantial collection of previous examination papers, specifications, and examiners’ reports. Oxford Sixth Form College facilities also include a well-equipped art room and two science laboratories in addition to a biology lab. Between lessons, students can relax in the student common room. There is also an IT suite, where students have Internet access through a fast broadband connection. A wireless network operates throughout the premises. As the College is in a city center location, there are a large number of cafés, sandwich bars and restaurants nearby. We also provide opportunities for joining student clubs and societies, and the academic life of the College is enhanced by a varied range of extra-curricular activities, including cultural visits, music, and sports.

  14. We are often asked, “What makes d’Overbroeck’s different from other schools?”. The answer lies in our shared values and a relaxed but vibrant atmosphere, where the individual is key and laughter is an essential part of everyday life. Our ethos is firmly built on personal relationships, on a relative lack of stuffiness and formal hierarchies, and a strong belief that every individual is at the heart of the school. At the same time, our approach is distinctly collaborative. We believe in leading by example, in a healthy dose of flexibility, and the power of laughter and humanity. ‘Enthusiasm’, ‘maturity’ and ‘courtesy’ are words that visitors to the school frequently use to describe us. We provide an environment that gives both staff and students the space to be themselves as well as the encouragement and stimulus to grow, to learn, to engage with complexity and to achieve their goals. And they’ll also have time for friendship, laughter, and living life to the full. It's not often these days that the Head of a school is there at the gates to see everyone in at the start of the day. But that's what happens each morning when our Years 7 to 11 arrive at Leckford Place. Mark, the Head of this part of d'Overbroeck's is there to welcome everyone. It's a chance to catch up, share news and check up on how things are going. It's part of us being a family school where everyone knows everyone else and where we work together. d'Overbroeck's Sixth Form in Oxford is the biggest part of our school. In addition to our Year 11s progressing through, we have a substantial intake of new students (some 130) who join our Lower Sixth each year - a mix of day students and boarders of students who choose to move to d’Overbroeck’s from other independent and state schools locally, from other parts of the UK and from abroad. If you’re an international student aged between 13 and 15, d'Overbroeck's International school in Oxford has a wide range of courses to help you take your first steps in English education. Whether you want to study IGCSEs in one year, two years, 4 or 5 terms, enroll in our Pre-IGCSE program, or experience studying at a UK school on our Study Abroad course, then our International School is the perfect place to begin. d’Overbroeck’s offers an exceptional academic and extra-curricular program that provides excellent opportunities for individual growth through shared values and an ethos of commitment to each other. We’re often asked what makes d’Overbroeck’s different from other schools. Well of course we offer a progressive and far-reaching academic curriculum delivered by committed and brilliant staff in excellent facilities. And of course, the learning environment is supported by a huge range of sporting, cultural and academic extra-curriculum activities. The school’s success in delivering this program of excellence is evident in our exceptional exam results, in students’ joyful achievements in their extra-curricular activities, and in the enthusiastic endorsement we receive from current and former parents and students. This success is not accidental. It’s based on an ethos of support for every individual, on the development of shared values, and on offering a caring, creative, nurturing, and relatively informal environment that encourages every single student to create the very best versions of themselves, both for today and the future. But it’s not just about individual achievement. At d’Overbroeck’s, we embrace the understanding that we are all in this journey together, that each person – staff as well as students – contributes to the life of the school and of the wider community in their own unique and valuable way. It’s an ethos that recognizes that humans do not exist in isolation that we depend on connection, community, and caring – quite simply, our humanity depends on each other.

In 1891 the School was taken over by the Technical Instruction Committee (part of Oxford City Council) and renamed Oxford City Technical School.

  22. St. Clare’s, Oxford was founded by Anne Dreydel OBE and Pamela Morris in 1953 and grew out of a scheme to establish links between British and European students after the Second World War. The original name was The Oxford English Centre for Foreign Students, which later became St. Clare’s Hall, and then St. Clare’s, Oxford. The College grew quickly to encompass a wide range of nationalities and programs, both at university and pre-university level and in the English Language. In the mid-50s, students came mostly from around a dozen Western European countries, as well as the UK. Nowadays there are 50 nationalities represented on the IB program alone. As well as longer courses of study, shorter summer courses also became a central feature of the College in the early days. Links with universities in the USA date back to the 1960s and formal agreements by which American university students could gain credit towards their US degrees by studying abroad at St. Clare’s started up in the 1970s, and gradually replaced the University of London external degrees that had previously been taught. In 1977 the College introduced the International Baccalaureate Diploma for pre-university students, only the 41st school in the world to do so. There are only 13 other institutions in the world that have taught the IB longer than us. A-Levels were gradually phased out as the IB became established and we are now the longest established IB World School in England. St Clare’s, Oxford remains faithful to its original mission which is to advance international education and understanding. St Clare’s welcomes students and staff of all nationalities and cultures who will benefit from, and contribute to, our learning community. Living and studying together, we learn from one another. We are enriched and challenged by a diversity of views and ideas. The College aims to provide an environment where our students and our staff: Develop their intellects, their imagination, and independence of mind Engage in creative, aesthetic, and physical activities Learn from, and contribute to, our local community Develop a sense of environmental awareness and responsibility to the international community Value honesty, compassion, and intercultural understanding Take personal responsibility for work and conduct Our shared experience is challenging, rigorous, and stimulating, and is supported by student-staff relations based on mutual respect and high expectations. We are committed to extending this experience to students from a wide range of backgrounds.
  23. Oxford Academy is an independent boys boarding school established in 1906 to educate young men seeking an alternative to the traditional classroom approach. In Oxford's one-to-one classroom, each student benefits from his teacher's undivided attention. Through the Oxford Method of Individualized Instruction, our students gain self-confidence, attain academic success, and prepare for the future. For over 100 years, this method has positively impacted the lives of a wide variety of students. While most Oxford students come from the United States, many (up to 30 percent) are international students representing some 20 countries over the past several years. Our goal is to achieve a diverse enrollment where international students can practice English skills, and all students benefit from the cross-cultural exchange. Oxford Academy's faculty of committed educators and its dedicated staff form a supportive and caring community with one goal: each student's success. With a rolling admissions policy, enrollment is open throughout the year as space is available. In 1906, the founders of Oxford Academy established a school inspired by Socrates' teachings, adopting his words "Know Thyself" as its motto. Modeled after Oxford and Cambridge Universities' mentoring pedagogies, Oxford's one-to-one classroom incorporates Socrates' active, personal approach to inquiry and critical thinking. We work to help students think, understand, use initiative, and express themselves with confidence. Today's iteration of the Oxford Method honors the original with a customized course of study that meets each student through engaging coursework and stimulating dialog. The one to one courses, favoring depth over breadth, are typically more intellectually challenging than traditional lecture and test formats. Students engage actively with their teachers and develop a voice as partners in their learning. Pedagogically, this is a high-value education that is truly individualized, incorporating authentic learning and assessment. View full school
