  5. The school, located in three adjoining buildings at 53-55 st. stephen’s green enjoys a city-center location. However, the majority of its students, drawn from a wide geographical area, largely come from the north and south Dublin suburbs, north County Dublin, County Meath, Co. Wicklow, and Co. Kildare. These have been the traditional catchment areas for the school over many years. Each year, approximately thirty students from the Loreto Junior School (on the same site) enter the first year, making up about one-third of the annual intake. There is a small intake of students, generally from other schools, into other classes, when vacancies exist. Loreto College is a traditional school in that families, over generations, have tended to send their daughters there. Ninety-six girls are admitted to the new first-year each autumn. They are divided into four class groups and this remains the pattern for the school. Class size remains at this level and year groups in the school do not exceed ninety-six students. Welcome to the Loreto College St. Stephen’s Green website. The school was founded in 1833 in the tradition of Mary Ward (1585-1645). The Loreto principles of Truth, Justice, Freedom, Sincerity, and Joy underpin teaching and learning in “the Green”. All our endeavors are centered in God, rooted in Christ, and based on Gospel values. The education offered in the school is holistic with an emphasis on academia, extra-curricular activities, and social justice. A keen sense of community and collaborative teaching and learning is fostered by everyone. Each student is recognized and celebrated for her unique talents and gifts. Mary Ward encouraged us to “Do good and do it well”. By exploring our website you will witness the wonderful achievements of the students and their teachers. You will discover the joy experienced by our students in learning, leadership, sport, music, art, and other extra-curricular activities. You will see how our students bear witness to the Loreto principles and become “seekers of Truth and doers of Justice”. “In an atmosphere of mutual respect and justice, we are a community that aims to provide a rich and diverse curriculum catering for the needs of each student. We provide a holistic education wherein we strive for excellence in the pursuit of knowledge. Social concerns and spiritual values are central to our educational philosophy, while sporting and cultural endeavors are encouraged. Each student is challenged to realize her full potential and to recognize the dignity of each human being”. Loreto College, St. Stephen’s Green is a Catholic school in the Loreto tradition. It is, therefore, part of a worldwide network of schools run by the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (known to us as Loreto). The school, located in three adjoining buildings at 53-55 St. Stephen’s Green, has a city-center location. However, the majority of its students, drawn from a wide geographical area, largely come from the north and south Dublin suburbs, north County Dublin and Counties Meath and Kildare. These have been the traditional catchment areas for the school over many years.

  7. Green Mountain College prepares students for fulfilling lives by taking the goal of creating just and sustainable societies as the unifying theme for its interdisciplinary graduate and undergraduate liberal arts education. The College fosters environmental and personal responsibility, civic engagement, entrepreneurial spirit, and global understanding. At Green Mountain College, we blend the best of classroom theory with practical, hands-on experience. The result is a deeper kind of learning that gives you a leg up in the working world. Students and faculty work together on research projects with real outcomes, like our design/build class, which built a solar garage that charges an electric tractor for use on the farm. Every student gets to vote on the next sustainability ideas to be implemented at the College. You will have opportunities for fieldwork at our student-run farm great internship sites like Greenpeace, Killington Ski Resort, or the Office of Senator Bernie Sanders. It is your world—and it is “the real world,” long before you graduate. With a curriculum built on a framework of social, economic, and environmental sustainability, you will learn the practical skills you need for the workplace and how to live a purposeful life. Ninety-five percent of graduates say they are doing work that they find meaningful. They are prepared for careers in today’s fastest-growing fields, including the green jobs sector. Our graduates do what they love, and the rewards follow. Here, the classroom is more than a place to sit and take notes. It is where you connect, engage, and collaborate with the world’s foremost sustainability experts—your professors. Beyond the classroom, you can expect to work and learn one on one with faculty. They get to know you here, and many become mentors for life. As you hone into your major and prepare for your future career, our Career, Advising, and Teaching (CAT) Center will support you with internships, resume building support, and practice with interviews. To understand who we are — a community working to bring positive change to the world — helps to know who we once were, and how we began, where this tree grew roots. And that place is Vermont – home to a fierce streak of independence, respect for difference, and connection to the natural, intellectual, and spiritual world. Dig under the soil, and you discover our roots intertwined with the stories of those who made their mark on history, like Horace Greeley, who founded the New York Herald Tribune, and who learned the printing trade at a newspaper in East Poultney. The tavern where he lived, the school where he gave his first speech — they still stand here today. As a national reformer, freethinker, and activist, his legacy dovetails with our school's can-do spirit and Vermont. Or John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, whose forward-thinking belief inaccessible education and women’s empowerment, echoes our global responsibility and public service mission. With historical ties to the United Methodist Church, Green Mountain College promotes respect for lifelong learning, human spirituality, gender equality, and our planet. We teach students that history is made by those who lead, like Poultney's settlers, who built one of Vermont’s first libraries. So we transform this inspiration into action, become the first EPA Energy Star campus in the nation, and first reach climate neutrality through clean energy, efficiency, and carbon offsets because this is our history, our roots, your future. Green Mountain College is a place where every academic field is integrated with a focus on sustainability. Here, students lead, teachers guide, and hands-on learning comes to life. Regardless of major, you and your peers complete our Environmental Liberal Arts sequence. This cross-disciplinary program prepares you for a career in today’s fastest-growing fields, including the green jobs sector. You can select from 23 academic majors and 36 minors, or craft your self-designed major through our Progressive Program. Green Mountain College is a small environmental liberal arts college located in Vermont’s beautiful Lakes Region and less than 40 minutes from Vermont’s premier ski resort, Killington Mountain. The campus sits at the intersection of College Street and Main Street in Poultney. A diverse and committed board of trustees with national and regional perspectives sets the overall strategic direction. It ensures the financial and organizational success of the College in achieving its mission. Faculty, staff, and students share in the day-to-day governance of the College. Openness and transparency are essential factors in the goal of creating an atmosphere of respect and equality. The Student Senate, which meets weekly in an open-forum setting, has substantial authority to oversee its internal operations and regularly collaborates with the administration, Staff Assembly, and Faculty Council. Students are often involved in search and other committees. The Faculty Council meets monthly in advance of campus faculty meetings, and faculty forums on research in progress and issues related to teaching are held regularly. The Staff Assembly likewise holds monthly meetings and collaborates with sister organizations. The tradition of holding open meetings for all GMC community members, called “community conversations,” happens at least once a semester.

  12. View full university

  15. Since the amalgamation of the poorly performing infant and junior schools in 2013, Rush Green Primary School has made rapid progress to become one of the highest achieving schools in Barking and Dagenham. In 2016, the school was recognized and congratulated on the very high level of the progress our pupils make, by the Rt Hon Nick Gibb, the Minister of State for School Standards. The school is aiming to continue to build on recent successes and is continuing its upward trajectory towards providing an outstanding education for all children. We have high expectations of what our children can achieve and strive to innovate and inspire all children, through a broad and balanced curriculum, so that they attain their very best and become confident, articulate, and successful individuals in an ever-changing global society. We provide an exceptional learning environment and experience for our children and we use excellent resources, including high-quality staff training, so that pupils make excellent progress. Rush Green Primary School seeks to serve the community by striving to ensure the highest standards of education for every child entrusted to our care. Our vision is to promote a positive, caring learning community where the values of mutual respect, tolerance, compassion, hard work, and commitment enable our learners to become the model global citizens of the future. At Rush Green Primary School we have recently introduced a House Points System. We believe that pupils thrive when they receive praise for their effort, success in their studies, sport, music, and other extra-curricular involvement in the life of the school. The system aims to work together to create a happy and productive learning environment. Every week, in our Friday Golden Assembly, the House Points Cup is awarded to the House with the most House Points. Children can earn House Points for their Houses by working hard in class, producing good quality work, being polite and courteous, helping each other, and setting a good example. Online safety, the safe and responsible use of technology, is a term that encompasses not only Internet technologies but also electronic communications via mobile phones, games consoles, and wireless technology. It highlights the need to educate children and young people about the benefits, risks, and responsibilities of using information technology. It means ensuring that children and young people are protected from harm and supported to achieve the maximum benefit from new and developing technologies without risk to themselves or others. The aim of promoting online safety is to protect young people from the adverse consequences of access or use of electronic media, including bullying, inappropriate sexualized behavior, or exploitation. The Internet is an unmanaged, open communications channel. The World Wide Web, email, blogs, and social networks all transmit information using the Internet’s communication infrastructure internationally at low cost. Anyone can send messages, discuss ideas and publish material with little restriction. These features of the Internet make it an invaluable resource used by millions of people every day. Some of the material on the Internet is published for an adult audience and can include violent and adult content. Information on weapons, crime, and racism may also be unsuitable for children and young people to access. Pupils need to develop critical skills to evaluate online material and learn that publishing personal information could compromise their security and that of others. Schools have a duty of care to enable pupils to use on-line systems safely. SMSC stands for Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural Development. At Rush Green Primary we embrace this broader dimension of learning through SMSC development. We understand that the personal development of all pupils plays a necessary part in their ability to learn and achieve both within this early stage of learning and later as they make their journey through adulthood. It is important to us that all members of our school community help us to provide an education that encourages opportunities for children to explore and develop and understand their own and others’ values and beliefs. To do this we must ensure our children develop spiritual awareness, high standards of behavior, a positive caring attitude towards all, an understanding of social and cultural traditions, and an appreciation of the diversity of other cultures. SMSC is embedded throughout our school community ranging from RE (Religious Education) and SEAL (Spiritual and Emotional aspects of Learning) lessons through to assemblies, charity work, cultural awareness events, visiting speakers, and a wide range of extra-curricular and out of school activities. The school ethos “Strive to Succeed” is also a significant contributor to the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of our pupils. The ethos is embedded strongly throughout all teaching of the National Curriculum subjects and lessons aim to include clear SMSC opportunities. As part of the SMSC development within Rush Green Primary, we have implemented a School Creed for all members of the school community to learn and recite. It is important to us that children display an increasing willingness to participate and to learn about their service within the school. This is depicted throughout the recitation of the School Creed. Children must understand their place within their society and the role they must take within it, ’So many hearts make a school’. To start each new week as a working community the children are expected to recite the School Creed alongside their teachers every Monday. To give the children a broader sense of community the creed is also recited throughout the week during assembly time. Before going home on Friday the children will again recite the creed to finish their week with a sense of belonging. View full school

The staff in the Junior school consisted of the Head Master, Mr. A. Johnson, and ten assistant teachers. Roe Green Junior school is a vibrant multi-cultural and multi-faith school in the very diverse London Borough of Brent. At Roe Green Juniors we respect the diversity of backgrounds of all our pupils. The school also operates a robust system of logging incidents. At Roe Green Juniors we believe that a healthy school is successful in helping pupils to do their best and build on their achievements. We are committed to the ongoing improvement and development of children in all areas of their lives. We promote physical and emotional health by providing accessible and relevant information and equipping pupils with the skills and attitudes to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. Our school motto, ‘Be the Best You Can Be’, supports this ethos. During our last OFSTED inspection, the extent to which our pupils adopt healthy lifestyles was considered to be ‘outstanding’. We continue to make this a priority in our school and encourage children to be both physically and mentally healthy. Healthy living is explored through a variety of curriculum areas, such as Science, PSHCE, PE, and DT, as well as through themed days, visits, and workshops. For example, Year 3 undertake a healthy living day with the organization ‘A-Life,’ which looks at diet and exercise to maintain a healthy body. Children are encouraged to exercise in a variety of ways during playtimes. This includes the use of playground equipment, football, and the adventure garden. Classes have the opportunity to use guided reflection CDs which help to calm the mind and give the children time to reflect and cool down. View full school

At Roe Green Infant & Roe Green Strathcona School, we promote “British Values” through our spiritual, moral, social, and cultural curriculum which permeates throughout the school and helps support and nurture the “whole child”. To ensure the aims and values within the National Curriculum and the new EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) 2014 underpin all teaching and learning within the school. The importance of laws whether they are those that govern the class, the school, or the country, is consistently reinforced. Our school has ‘Classroom Rules’, which are deeply embedded in our work every day. Each class also has a traffic light system that is clearly understood by all and seen to be necessary to ensure that every class member can learn in a safe and ordered environment. Our pupils are taught the value and reasons behind laws, that they govern and protect us, the responsibilities that this involves, and the consequences when laws are broken. Respect is one of the core values of our school as can be seen on our school ethos tree. Our pupils adhere to these core values and ethos, and it is deeply embedded in all that we do at the school. The pupils know and understand that it is expected and imperative that respect is shown to everyone, whatever differences we may have and to everything, however big or small. The core value of Respect at Roe Green Infant School underpins our work every day both in and out of the classroom. Our core value of Respect ensures tolerance of those who have different faiths and beliefs. Roe Green Infant School enhances pupils' understanding of different faiths and beliefs through religious education studies, P.S.H.E. work, Inclusion week, themed faculty weeks, Language of the month, religious festival assemblies, and International evening celebrations. During Art Week the whole school has focused on a continent and each class has specifically focused on one country from that continent. Beliefs, traditions, and customs have been studied in-depth, with visitors being invited into our school to enrich and extend understanding. We have had a whole school theme on the topic of London. Through this, our pupils have gained an enhanced understanding of their place in a culturally diverse society. The school was first opened as Roe Green School on the 8th February 1932. On 11th September 1933, the junior and infant school separated to become Roe Green Infant School and Roe Green Junior School. View full school

Our cluster schools are all linked to a school in the same area. For 2016-17 we are starting the year with a Peace project which is being run in conjunction with our partner schools in Tanzania. Parsons Green has begun the journey towards becoming a Unicef Rights Respecting School. This involves learning about the UNCRC (United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child) and what that means for ourselves and each other. We have been using our Vertical Grouping Project to explore Article 31 – the right to play. It has involved mixing classes from P1 – P7 in our four houses and thinking about what the right to play looks like for us in our school. We have been learning lots of different types of games and getting to know others around the school better. This is helping us to have an even friendlier school built on positive relationships with each other. 20. At Harris Primary Academy Beckenham Green, we believe that consistency and confidence are key to success. As a small academy, with a single form in each year group, we aim to give our pupils a balanced, exciting, and truly enjoyable education that prepares them for success in secondary school and beyond. Located in the heart of Beckenham, we are part of the Harris Federation which runs five other successful primary academies in Bromley and more than 40 academies in total in and around London. We benefit from being part of this thriving community of schools. We are very proud of our children at Harris Primary Academy Beckenham Green, who work hard and behave well. They are rewarded for achievement and effort and we always encourage them to reach for their ‘personal best’, academically and in the way they relate to others. The aim of all our teachers, support staff, and leaders is to give every pupil an education they enjoy and which prepares them for academic success and confident, happy lives. Our academy is a member of the Harris Federation, a group of 44 primary and secondary academies in and around London educating some 30,000 young people. The Harris Federation Teaching School Alliance enables us not only to train and develop teachers and leaders in our academies but also to do so for other schools. Each academy is led and run by its Principal and other senior leaders: we are deliberately a federation rather than a chain. What unites us is a culture that ensures the children and teenagers in our schools get an excellent education within a happy, caring, and supportive environment. As a result of this, all Harris academies so far to have been inspected by Ofsted have been rated either ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ with the vast majority being Outstanding. Many of these academies replaced schools previously considered to have been failing. The Harris Federation has been recognized as a top performer by education researchers at the Department for Education, Sutton Trust, and Education Policy Institute as well as Watchsted and PwC. We are a not-for-profit charity created by Lord Harris of Peckham. He and his family take an active interest in every Harris academy, supporting us financially and with their time. We want children to retain their individuality and creativity and be treated the right way. With a single form in each year group, children at our academy settle quickly and get to know each other and our staff well. We step in quickly if a change is needed. For some children, this might involve one-to-one support if they are finding something difficult and for others, it could mean stretching them more to keep them interested. As an academy parent, you are welcome to discuss your son or daughter with us at any time. We send progress reports home every term with a full written report at the end of the academic year. We welcome children of all abilities and want them to enjoy school and thrive. For children with Special Educational Needs, one of our first steps is to work with their parents and other specialists to create a plan for supporting them. Our approach as a whole is reviewed with children’s classroom teachers, relevant specialists, and parents every half term. Our aim is that all of our children are well prepared to begin the second phase of their education. With each day, week, term, and year being so significant in a child’s life, consistency is particularly important in their primary education. As part of the Harris Federation, which has its training school for teachers, our staff receives outstanding professional development to make sure that standards are consistently high in every classroom. We work closely with other Harris academies in Bromley to share best practices and welcome the opportunities and additional capacity that gives us as a small school. View full school

  22. We think Hall Green Junior School is a wonderful school to be part of, with fantastic children, supportive parents, and dedicated staff. Hall Green Junior School has been a part of Hall Green for 120 years. Since the first school opened in 1893, the schools on the Stratford Road site have grown and developed to meet the needs of the local area, as the area has grown from a rural hamlet to a busy and thriving owner-occupier suburb it is today. JS is now a modern, very successful large Junior School, fully equipped to meet the needs of our children. We are now a fully four-form entry school with a strong communal feeling in each Yera Group and across the school. We aim to serve the needs of the children attending our School. Each child is important to us and we aim to do the very best we can for every child. Our parents are aspirational and caring. We aim to meet the trust they put in us to look after and educate their child. The school has a very simple but very important Vision. School is here to equip every child with the skills to be a successful learner and responsible citizen. By successful learner, we mean academic success in conjunction with lifelong learning skills and attributes. Every child has a Personalised Learning Plan which the teacher, the child, and the parent work towards to help make the child succeed. Hall Green Junior School has developed a personalized learning approach aimed at developing the whole child around our Four Core Skills. Each child has a PLP - a Personalised Learning Plan - which is shared with parents and informs the teacher's planning and the child's learning. The work is organized into Modules, each lasting for 6 weeks (approximately half a term). When possible the work is taught in linked topics but where necessary work is taught in separate subjects. The Modules are designed so that the National Curriculum is covered in a way that meets the needs and abilities of the children. They are also designed to be interesting and exciting. The school works to provide a broad and balanced curriculum, aiming to educate the whole child. All children belong to a team in school and will take part in activities to earn points for their team. The challenges are around developing strategic thinking, being healthy, and developing wider learning skills. At Hall Green Junior we are here to equip every child with the skills to be a successful learner and responsible citizen. We embrace the fact that every child is individual and help the individual need of each child within the mainstream classroom. We aim to integrate all children into the school community: primarily a Hall Green Junior School classroom. We recognize the strengths of each child and the valuable contribution that each child makes. Meeting the child’s needs is the responsibility of the teacher supported by the SENCo - every teacher is a teacher of SEN and the child’s needs are met best in the classroom situation, amongst peers, by adapting classwork and having appropriate levels of support if required. 23. Our school is a large four form entry school situated in Hall Green, a leafy suburb of Birmingham, and we share our site with Hall Green Junior School, with whom we have close links. Although we are a large school we work hard to create a small school feel by knowing our children and their families well and making them all feel special. Not only do we as a school strive to ensure that outcomes for the children's academic success are very high, but we also look to develop them as young people to support them to become responsible citizens and positive contributors to the local and global community. This is done, in part, through "Our Aspirations" and our "British Values" education. We work hard to ensure the children and all members of the school community enjoy a safe and positive experience where they are valued, respected and most of all have fun! We follow a program of Values Education. The concept behind this is to develop children’s emotional intelligence by giving them opportunities to explore the values on which our society is based and the vocabulary to express themselves. Our parents are also involved in our Value of the Month and have given us some very positive feedback about the impact of our Values Education on their children’s social development. At Hall Green Infant and Nursery School, we have successfully followed our Values Programme for many years. Our values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an ethos and learning environment which helps to prepare our pupils for a positive future.
