  1. Our school is a one-form-entry school with an onsite Nursery, based in Waltham Forest and on the border of Redbridge. Surrounded by Epping Forest, the school retains a village school ethos, with a family atmosphere and character. It has a long history, with the reputation of being the oldest primary school in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. We have a special oak tree in the middle of our playground which is thought to be about 500 years old. Today, as in its earliest days, our school aims to enable every pupil to develop to their full potential, providing them with a quality education within a caring environment. We are proud of our pupils, school, and staff, supported by the Governing Board. But don’t take our word for it, please feel free to come and see for yourself. Our school is a place where everyone is valued and supported, where we all work hard to be the best that we can be, both as learners and as responsible citizens and members of society. Our School Values: Support each other and celebrate success Have respect and tolerance for ourselves and each other Be honest Be kind to others Have self-discipline Be responsible for yourself and your actions Are polite and considerate Work well in a team Work hard to do your best You must regularly talk to your children about how to keep safe when accessing the online world. Children must understand that internet use is underpinned by trust but at the same time, children should understand that there are consequences for misuse of this technology. All children at Woodford Green Primary have the opportunity to work with computers and digital equipment from age four to eleven. They are taught how to use ICT tools safely to find, explore, analyze and present information responsibly and creatively to advance their learning across the curriculum. While technology can help us communicate, do work, learn and have fun, it is also important to remember that technology can potentially be dangerous. We recognize the importance of educating children and young people in using these technologies safely. This is achieved by ensuring children within our school understand the benefits and risks of using this technology. We provide safeguards and awareness for users to enable them to control their online experiences. View full school
  2. Woodford Green Preparatory School Known locally as the "Red School" because of the scarlet uniforms, Woodford Green Preparatory School was founded in 1932 to provide a non-denominational Christian education for boys and girls, a tradition that has been maintained throughout our history and expansion to some 384 pupils. Regular assemblies, attended by all, reinforce the community spirit. Pupils are encouraged to take on responsibility. All the top year have community duties, including assisting younger children. While we are justifiably proud of our excellent record of success in entrance examinations for selective secondary schools, we believe that moral, social, and cultural education carry equal weight. Every child in the school is equally important to us, wherever their talents lie. The friendly, supportive environment, in which good work, good behavior, and helpfulness are positively reinforced, encourages all children to develop to their potential. We believe strongly that children ought to enjoy their time at school. We encourage pupils to strive to do their very best through a broad range of experiences. Pupils learn best when they are happy and feel secure. Our dedicated staff works hard to ensure that pupils are supported through excellent pastoral care. Our curriculum is broad and exciting, designed to stimulate a life-long love of learning. Pupils gain independence, resourcefulness and are provided with support and challenge. This is reflected in the recent ISI Inspection Report which highlights the many areas of excellence, which we continually strive to achieve. Our Vision To be known as a school where every pupil is nurtured, encouraged to be curious, and achieves their very best. We are committed to: Fostering the full development of each member of our school. Seeking excellence and inspiring a love for teaching and learning. Encouraging individual learning and thinking, value ourselves, and having a commitment to the care and wellbeing of others within our school. Maintaining and enhancing a safe and healthy environment that promotes a sense of belonging, pride, and achievement. The School's success rate with 11+ entries to a wide range of Senior Schools, both in the independent and state sectors, indicates that the curriculum meets all the requirements of these schools and enables pupils to make a smooth transition to secondary education. Our curriculum is subject to regular review and new ideas are continually discussed and encouraged. View full school
  3. What first strikes visitors to our school is a palpable sense of community. The atmosphere is vibrant, purposeful, and very friendly. Relationships are strong and supportive. There’s always a lot going on and, to an extent which is perhaps unusual, girls of different ages work unselfconsciously together, collaborating on the colorful range of events and activities that make up the fabric of the Woodford school year and contribute to the distinct ethos of the place. It’s a happy and cohesive community and an environment that liberates young women to take the risks and embrace the challenges that will prepare them for their future roles and responsibilities as leaders in tomorrow’s society. Woodford’s success is the result of striking a fine balance between tradition and innovation. Our values are traditional ones and we offer an unashamedly academic curriculum. We are keenly aware, however, that we are preparing our students for a working life none of us can yet anticipate. Our focus, therefore, is on developing the skills, attributes, and habits of mind that will equip them as life-long learners. Woodford leavers are articulate, self-confident, and skilled in the use of modern technologies. We aim to launch them into the world as self-starters, focused but flexible, armed with the courage to grasp opportunities and the resilience and humor to negotiate setbacks along the way. Above all we want them to be equipped to lead happy, fulfilling, and useful lives, wherever and however they choose to lead them. There is something for everyone. Our students will embark upon adult life conscious of their worth, ambitious for their futures, and aware that they are lucky indeed to have been educated here. There is something for everyone. We want our students to enjoy and appreciate their education and to leave Woodford equipped to embark upon happy, fulfilling, and useful lives, wherever and however they choose to lead them. Our Vision: Offering a full and balanced curriculum – and extra-curriculum – which encourages intellectual and personal development. Delivering expert teaching which builds on the previous attainment and makes learning an active, rather than a passive, experience. Developing the practices and resources to support independent learning. Creating opportunities for students to develop leadership and representation skills. Promoting opportunities for serving and supporting others. Providing platforms to showcase student skills and achievements. Scheduling co-curricular activities which encourage creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. Bringing the curriculum to life by emphasizing, wherever possible, a real-world connection. Making available individual advice and guidance to support students in planning for their futures. Encouraging a sense of global responsibility. Learning is the core function of a school, but it’s not, of course, an activity confined to schools, nor an individual’s years in formal education. It is, quite literally, a cradle-to-grave activity. A readiness to learn and to go on learning, and the skills to do so with increasing independence and enjoyment, are attributes that will set a school leaver up not only for Higher Education and employment but for life. We set a premium therefore on developing the skills, attributes, and habits of mind in our students that will equip them with the confidence and versatility to adapt to whatever challenges the future brings. The curriculum at Woodford is academic and, as you would expect of a Grammar School, designed to stimulate and challenge our very able students. View full school
