Welcome to Roe Green Infant School. Roe Green Infant School is a Community school, catering to children between the ages of three and seven. The school consists of the Early Years Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception) and Key Stage One (Year One and Year Two). Apart from the Nursery, which has 40-morning places and 40-afternoon places, the year groups are each arranged into 4 mixed ability classes of 30 children.
Our school is a happy place, where children feel secure, enjoy their learning, and develop respect for themselves, others, and the environment. We have high expectations, both socially and academically, and support every pupil in achieving their full potential. We are very proud of our school and are always happy to show prospective parents around.
The school is situated on Princes Avenue, adjacent to Kingsbury High School and Roe Green Park. The school shares the building with Roe Green Junior School. All the classrooms are on the ground floor. The library and art room are accessed via one flight of stairs.

The school has a separate nursery unit for pupils aged 3-4 years. The nursery caters to 40 children in the morning session and a further 40 children in the afternoon session. The Department for Education states that there is a need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs”.
At Roe Green Infant & Roe Green Strathcona School, we promote “British Values” through our spiritual, moral, social, and cultural curriculum which permeates throughout the school and helps support and nurture the “whole child”. This is demonstrated through our core Values and Ethos. Everyone at Roe Green Infant and Roe Green Strathcona embraces the core Values and Ethos and is proud to belong to the school.
“At Roe Green Infant School we promote the basic British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance for those of different faiths and beliefs.
“This ensures young people understand the importance of respect and leave school fully prepared for life in modern Britain.”
We welcome, value, and share the cultures, traditions, and languages of all our families. We provide consistently high standards of teaching and learning and expect all children to do well. We teach children to be responsible, independent, and proud of themselves and to show respect for everyone in our community.
To ensure the aims and values within the National Curriculum and the new EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) 2014 underpin all teaching and learning within the school.
The importance of laws whether they are those that govern the class, the school, or the country, is consistently reinforced. Our school has ‘Classroom Rules’, which are deeply embedded in our work every day. Each class also has a traffic light system that is clearly understood by all and seen to be necessary to ensure that every class member can learn in a safe and ordered environment. Our pupils are taught the value and reasons behind laws, that they govern and protect us, the responsibilities that this involves, and the consequences when laws are broken.
Respect is one of the core values of our school as can be seen on our school ethos tree. Our pupils adhere to these core values and ethos, and it is deeply embedded in all that we do at the school. The pupils know and understand that it is expected and imperative that respect is shown to everyone, whatever differences we may have and to everything, however big or small. The core value of Respect at Roe Green Infant School underpins our work every day both in and out of the classroom.
Our core value of Respect ensures tolerance of those who have different faiths and beliefs. Roe Green Infant School enhances pupils' understanding of different faiths and beliefs through religious education studies, P.S.H.E. work, Inclusion week, themed faculty weeks, Language of the month, religious festival assemblies, and International evening celebrations.
During Art Week the whole school has focused on a continent and each class has specifically focused on one country from that continent. Beliefs, traditions, and customs have been studied in-depth, with visitors being invited into our school to enrich and extend understanding. We have had a whole school theme on the topic of London. Through this, our pupils have gained an enhanced understanding of their place in a culturally diverse society. The school was first opened as Roe Green School on the 8th February 1932. On 11th September 1933, the junior and infant school separated to become Roe Green Infant School and Roe Green Junior School.
