  1. Newall Green Primary School is a community school for children aged 3 through to the transfer to secondary school-aged 11 years. Set in extensive tree-lined grounds on a very attractive parkland site, in the Wythenshawe district of Manchester offering approximately 700 places for children. Being a large school means that we can offer each child a lot of opportunities but we also pride ourselves that each child is treated as an individual. This is born out by being a partner in the Lancasterian School Barrier-Free initiative, which means that Newall Green Primary School is proud to be able to offer places to pupils with disabilities. We value children in their own right and show respect for their values, culture, and religious beliefs. Newall Green Primary School is one of the largest primary schools in Manchester. It is very important to us that the school retains the friendly 'family feel' that can be found in Primary Schools which are much smaller in size. We are proud of our commitment to raising standards for all our pupils and ensuring that all have the opportunity to reach their full potential. We promote a caring, learning community, where everyone is encouraged, valued, and may flourish. We provide guidance and support for our pupils and their families. There is strong pastoral care from all staff and everyone has a valuable contribution to make to the success of our school. At Newall Green Primary School we want every child and family to work in a supportive, inclusive school so that they make outstanding progress from their starting point. Each child will develop their core skills through a curriculum that promotes Social, Moral, Spiritual, and Cultural development using ‘Peace Mala’ and ‘PATHs.’ This will be embedded in a curriculum that holds outdoor learning central to its focus. As the Admissions Authority for the community and voluntary controlled schools in Manchester, the LA is required to draft, consult on, and determine their admission arrangements. Where there are more applicants than places available the LA will apply the admission arrangements to decide which applicants will be offered places. Admission arrangements for voluntary aided schools, foundation schools, free schools, and academies are set by their Governing Body, who are, the Admission Authority for their establishment. They are responsible for drafting, consulting on, and determining their admission arrangements. Copies of admissions arrangements for these types of schools/academies in Manchester can be found on the school/academy website and the LA’s website. They are also available on request from the relevant school/academy and the LA. All parents/carers are required to apply to their home LA regardless of where the school/academy they are applying to is situated. Manchester residents will apply to Manchester LA. The LA will liaise with other Admissions Authorities in Manchester and other LAs where required. Manchester LA will inform parents/carers in writing of the outcome of their application. A Published Admission Number (PAN) is the number of places a school/academy has in the year of entry. Places will normally only be offered up to the published admission number. A child cannot be refused admission to the normal year of entry on the grounds of prejudice to the provision of efficient education and efficient use of resources unless the published admission number has been reached. Outside of the year of entry, it is expected that the PAN will continue to be applied. However, if circumstances at the school/academy have changed since the year of entry, a place may be refused even if the admission number has not been reached. Our curriculum has our children at its heart. We believe in an exciting and engaging curriculum that is stimulating, challenging, and fun, and a curriculum that offers our children a wealth of experiences and new challenges. On this page, you can find details for each school year. This is in line with DfE's expectations of schools from September 2014. Each child will develop their core skills through a curriculum that promotes Social, Moral, Spiritual, and Cultural development using 'Peace Mala' and 'PATHS'. This will be embedded within a curriculum that holds outdoor learning central to its focus. An integral part of this policy is to ensure that our children are protected from being drawn into terrorism or associated activities. We make certain of this through our robust safeguarding systems. Any children at risk of such activities will be identified and the correct support put into place. All our staff are aware of their responsibilities in the safeguarding of children and will ensure that this responsibility is thoroughly adhered to. The DfE have recently reinforced the need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.” View full school
  2. We are an 11 – 19 high school with a thriving and successful Sixth Form. We have an intense focus on success and offer excellent facilities, together with strong academic and pastoral support. We have an outstanding team of staff who are united in encouraging students to achieve their curriculum targets and develop respect and consideration for others. This means that expectations about achievement are high and that all students are actively supported to believe that they can achieve. We are committed to producing optimistic young people who feel in control of their lives. We place a high value on our relationship with students and their parents and carers and appreciate the importance of this relationship if success is to be achieved by all. We run a fully inclusive school and recognize that everyone has a vital part to play in developing the school. The exam profile for our students rises year upon year, and we are continually striving for further improvements. We offer tremendous opportunities for our students both within the curriculum and outside. As a community school, our resources are also made available for community use through our leisure center. Newall Green High School's sixth form is aimed at meeting the needs of students who are not yet ready for the transition to larger colleges and higher-level courses. Its focus is to prepare students for progression onto further education or apprenticeships. Since our launch in September 2009, we have developed a range of excellent courses, which focus on the development of basic work-related skills and sector learning. The offer was designed to meet the needs of those 16 years olds that may not be ready for the transition to a large college or higher-level course and those not yet ready for the world of work. We recognize that some students may need a high level of support to build confidence and resilience, they may also need more guidance and help with employability and work-related learning skills. Our sixth form provision places a high emphasis on developing these skills and getting students ready for the next stage pathway. Our Profession Pathway, which in partnership with local businesses and apprenticeship providers is designed to enhance skills, develop sector-related knowledge and provide a clear route into employment or further training. It is a one-year program focusing on the development of basic work-related skills and sector learning. We utilize our outstanding facilities and draw on the expertise of our staff, many with substantial industry experience. Our Sixth Form Admissions Policy is based on the principle that there is an appropriate course or program of study accessible for all. Students, existing and prospective, are required to submit an application form and they will be offered an Information, Advice, and Guidance Meeting to help support them in deciding on a program of study that best suits their needs and future aspirations At Newall Green High School we are committed to providing high-quality educational opportunities for all our students. Newall Green High school is built on and driven by our core values represented by STRIVE. Each letter represents a different value. Our work ethic grades which are reported to parents along with progress grades also reflect STRIVE. The name highlights the need for our pupils to think about the world of work and to develop the skills required by future employees. The accompanying wording for the Work Ethic Grades makes it clear to students exactly what we expect in our lessons and around School. It is quite challenging for our pupils to achieve a grade 1 – but that is how they will achieve their full potential at Newall Green High School and be in a fantastic position to achieve well in the future. The pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the gaps between them and their peers. Schools must publish annually an evaluation of their pupil premium spending for the academic year and also plans to spend for the new academic year. Our Learning 2 Learn base provides a nurturing environment within the school for students who require extra support for their social and emotional development their progress and achievement are monitored carefully using alternative, nationally developed systems. The SENDCo and other staff consult with parents and students to design Student Profiles showing how best to support individual children we are happy to meet with parents regularly outside of Reviews and Parents Evenings. Students need to make sure they keep themselves safe at all times when online. The policy below is for school and gives you some guidelines. If you are worried about anything when using the internet then tell someone in your family or at school. View full school
