- We are a new school that draws on a long and established history of educational excellence. The pioneering work of Frances Mary Buss, 160 years ago, in North London, paved the way for an exciting and inclusive movement in the education of young women. NLCS UK has gone on to build on this innovative approach to education and prides itself on its clear vision of academic excellence and passion for subject knowledge and integrity, as well as its holistic approach to all aspects of an exceptional education. Here at NLCS Jeju, we are building on these foundations to create an optimal environment for our community. If you were to ask current parents why they chose NLCS Jeju, they would tell you that the students here are cheerful, balanced, at ease with themselves and each other - yet excited and enthused by the challenges before them. They might add that we succeed in combining academic excellence with a wealth of co-curricular opportunities, all underpinned by a deep commitment to the individual needs and enthusiasms of each pupil. Whilst we enjoy excellent facilities in a prime location, it is our people that make our school a special place. Our staff embodies a wide range of experience and a wealth of enthusiasm. Our parents are tremendously supportive and contribute a huge amount of time and energy to supporting our activities and events. Our students throughout the School are a real delight to teach and have a genuine appetite for learning. If our ethos appeals to you and your son/daughter, then please contact us to find out more. Whilst we hope that our website provides valuable information, there is no substitute for visiting us only then will you truly feel what makes our school a special place to work and to learn. We are a school that prides itself on the ambitious education we deliver. In part, this is possible due to the inspiration we draw from our mother school, NLCS UK, and the important bond that has developed between the two institutions. We are fortunate that our relationship is genuine and close. We have benefited greatly from NLCS UK carrying out regular inspections and monitoring visits of our school, as well as interviewing and training all our new staff at NLCS UK. As the school has grown and developed, we have inevitably carved out our own identity and we are proud of how this is emulated in our aims which, whilst rooted in the pioneering work of NLCS UK, have been adjusted to fit our sense of what makes for a world-class, holistic, international education in Korea. The aims of our Junior School are to provide an ambitious educational program for all our students and to enable each one to develop academic confidence and independence in his or her learning. Our Junior School is a friendly and warm place for boys and girls aged 3 to 11 (Nursery – Year 6). The class sizes remain small to ensure quality interaction between students and teachers. Within this supportive community, the students absorb themselves in the fun and adventure of learning. Currently, we have 315 students, of which over 20% are international students from China, Japan, the UK, and New Zealand. Our highest priority is to maintain a team of outstanding teachers who will inspire and encourage each student. Students in the Junior School follow a curriculum based on that of NLCS UK. This is an academically ambitious program of learning where our teachers create an environment in which children can actively discover new skills, knowledge, and understanding. We aim to develop internationally-minded young people with an understanding of their responsibility to each other and the wider community. To promote positive attitudes and raise self-esteem, we hold weekly Celebration Assemblies for the whole school. In addition, every child in the Junior School, from Years 3-6 belongs to a House, just as they do in the Senior School. As part of a House team, students learn to work with one another, supporting and leading different ages, as well as engaging with the fun of the school-wide House competition. The Senior School provides a rigorous academic education taught by highly qualified, knowledgeable, and inspiring teachers through lively, active lessons. Students are challenged to think for themselves and to develop their minds independently. In the Senior School, we pride ourselves on working closely with families and students to ensure that all children have high academic aspirations and achieve the success needed to ensure they can enter the foremost universities worldwide. The curriculum at NLCS Jeju is based largely on that of NLCS London. In Key Stage 3 (years 7 to 9) departments write their programs of study that aim to provide students with the knowledge base and skills to take the subjects further but also to develop a love of learning for that subject. In Key Stage 4 (years 10 to 11), students work towards their IGCSE course, and in Key Stage 5 (years 12 to 13) students follow the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. North London Collegiate School Jeju was founded in 2011 as a Boarding and Day school. We are located on the amazing island of Jeju, in South Korea, but our proud heritage is from the United Kingdom, wherein 1850 education pioneer Frances Mary Buss established the North London Collegiate School. NLCS Jeju has become, in a short period, a reference for excellent international education in Asia, providing an aspirational academic education taught by highly qualified, knowledgeable, and inspiring teachers through interactive, thought-provoking lessons. The strategic geographical location of this island makes NLCS Jeju a suitable school for students from Korea, China, Japan, Russia, and the rest of Asia. Ours was the first international school to be opened as part of the Global Education City on Jeju Island, which is becoming the center of English education in Korea and the educational hub of Asia. We exist to give our students an exceptional platform for life after school. We are immensely proud to say that our students obtain places at the most prestigious universities around the world, and we are confident you will too. View full school

- At Welkin College School (SIS Canada), we are proud of the unique opportunity we provide for students to enjoy a supportive and challenging high school experience. One of our strengths at Welkin College School (SIS Canada) that we are proud of is our commitment to a rigorous academic curriculum that adequately prepares students for success at post-secondary schools. In our classes, we strive to achieve that perfect balance of intellectual challenge, application of knowledge, and collaborative learning. Our graduates have consistently succeeded at the university or institutes they have attended due to their having attended Welkin College School (SIS Canada). We are living in a time when flexibility is recognized as a great strength. Welkin College School (SIS Canada) is all about flexibility in that we offer an optional trimester approach to studying. Why spend three years in high school when you can complete it in two? The time you save could be put towards jumping into post-secondary or pursuing something if required to attend regular classes. At Welkin College School (SIS Canada) we offer students and families greater choice in determining when to finish secondary school. Every student is different and deserves to be recognized as an individual. With our small class sizes and caring approach, students at Welkin College School (SIS Canada) feel like they are a part of a large extended family. Time and care are taken to regularly check in with each student to be sure they are feeling supported and are on track to developing a strong self-awareness and positive self-image. One's teenage years can be a time of happiness and self-discovery at Welkin College School (SIS Canada). Life at Welkin College School (SIS Canada) is all about building friendships, being the best student one can be, and engaging in character-building adventures. On school-day evenings, students have time to work together on their school projects and homework in a setting that is social and yet studious. On the weekends, students can join in on activities that take them away from the residence to explore the local area and enjoy some personal freedom. At Welkin College School (SIS Canada) students live a balanced life between spending time with friends, focusing on schoolwork, and pursuing activities conducive to a healthy mind and body. Welkin College School (SIS Canada) offers boarding for all of its students in a safe dormitory situated on a reasonably secluded property surrounded by sprawling grassy lawns, abundant trees, and shallow creeks. When not studying, students are encouraged to walk the grounds enjoying the deer, birds, and rabbits that also inhabit the grounds. Welkin College School’s residence is co-ed with dining times and supervised social times allowing for our male and female students to interact. However, it is also organized into segregated living quarters. Welkin College School (SIS Canada) is situated in the cozy town of Coombs, British Columbia right beside a tranquil body of flowing water called French Creek. Coombs is an ideal location for a school because it is safe, quiet, clean, and friendly. Our students regularly visit the markets and shops of Coombs where they are warmly greeted as members of the small community. Our student residence is located in the town of Parksville. Parksville is a mid-sized Vancouver Island town that offers picturesque beaches, parks, restaurants, and shops. Not far from our school and residence is the sizeable city of Nanaimo that offers a variety of community centers, special interest clubs, theaters, shopping, and a ferry to the city of Vancouver for occasional excursions. Nanaimo is just big enough to give students their big city fix but not so big as to present typical big-city dangers. Nanaimo also offers an airport with connecting flights to Vancouver making international travel nice and easy. Mid Vancouver Island in general is an ideal location for a boarding school in that it is renowned for its majestic natural setting, fresh ocean air, and absence of the distractions of city life. The “Island”, as it is commonly known, is revered by all Canadians for its relaxed, unhurried lifestyle, friendly inhabitants, and splendid scenery. What better place to spend one’s formative years? Welkin College School (SIS Canada) utilizes the curriculum prescribed by the British Columbia Ministry of Education with an emphasis on academic subjects as well as Arts and Athletics. Upon graduation, students will receive a Dogwood Diploma issued by the BC Ministry of Education which signifies their successful completion of the program. Grades 7-9. A rounded curriculum during one’s middle school years ensures that students will be prepared for their secondary years. Gr. 7-9 courses include: English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Music, Art, Technology, Career Education, and Health. During the middle school years, greater attention is paid to improving students' English skills within the context of the courses they are studying. Rather than adding to their workload through extra ESL classes, students are supported and taught strategies to exceed at their regular grade-level courses. Grades 10-12. These years are comprised of the courses necessary to satisfy the requirements of BC’s rigorous Graduation Program. Gr. 10 consists mainly of standard required courses that all students must take however Gr. 11 and 12-course schedules will vary according to the post-secondary path a student chooses. - Seoul Academy provides all students with vast opportunities for learning and community involvement. The entire Seoul Academy community shares the responsibility for building the academic success of each student. The mission of Seoul Academy is to ensure students achieve their maximum potential and lead humane, creative, literate, trustworthy, self-directed, and self-sufficient lives. The two biggest aims of the Library Program are to help ensure every student is fully literate and also to stir excitement and satisfaction out of virtually every read for every student. 'Library class' is attended by elementary students only where students will participate in several reading activities or other support readings that all serve to advance their learning in this important field. In addition to our core curriculum, we offer many other extra subjects at Seoul Academy. These subjects, in conjunction with the core curriculum, give the students a well-rounded education. While each is a self-contained subject, cross-curriculum projects and activities are encouraged and, when possible, teachers frequently assign projects that combine 2 or more subjects. While there is no specific deadline for application, an admission decision is made on a 'first-come-first-serve' basis. This means that the application process may end sooner whenever all available enrollment spots are filled. There is a clear advantage to applying early. Elementary school education is the foundation upon which all future learning is built. As such, Seoul Academy is committed to providing each student with a safe and supportive learning environment. Our low student-teacher ratio ensures that teachers can give each student the attention they need to succeed. Our classrooms are bright and inspiring full of active, engaged learners. Our teachers are highly qualified, compassionate, and dedicated to providing meaningful learning experiences. Our curriculum is comprehensive and prepares students for the life and academic challenges in their futures. We strive to provide a well-rounded program that enables proficiency in all subject areas, the arts, physical education, and second language instruction. We care about the social and emotional well-being of each student. We model and expect students to exhibit the skills and attitudes for appropriate social interaction that will enable them to be confident and productive citizens in a global community. Our goal is for students to become motivated, independent learners, capable of achieving success in a complex, ever-changing world. Seoul Academy's middle school program offers a dynamic curriculum ranging from the traditional core subjects (English, Social studies, math, and science) to a wide variety of other curricula including Chinese, Computers, and more. While there is a heavy emphasis on preparing students to meet the challenges of high school abroad in countries like America, Seoul Academy's small-size classes ensure that every middle student receives the individual care and attention to succeed in their particular pursuits beyond the middle school level. Indeed, one big aim of the middle school program is to ensure that every class is personalized, relevant, and stimulating. In the process, all students will study intensively and thoroughly all subject strands expected for high school entrance in a typical secondary environment. At Seoul Academy Elementary, each child in grades PK-4 takes general music class twice a week. Music instructions are planned to meet the US National Standards for Music Education through the use of textbooks and other approved resources. The lower grade levels first learn to use their voices to sing, their bodies to make movements, and percussion instruments to feel the rhythm to explore music and to develop their musicianship. The upper-grade levels continue to learn to sing, dance, play different families of instruments, read notes, ear train, and compose short pieces of music to further develop their musicality. We also offer an extracurricular activity, The Music Makers, for elementary students who want to have even more fun with music. Students experience various genres of music such as choral singing, musical plays, and instrument performances (ex. bucket drumming, recorder, boomwhackers). Furthermore, they learn self-discipline, teamwork, and commitment through being a member of an ensemble. The Music Makers perform at our school’s two major musical events held each year. Our world still, and for the foreseeable future, uses print media as the primary source of news and information. With this in mind, we at Seoul Academy encourage all of our students to develop their reading ability continuously. Indeed, reading comprises several important skills including reading comprehension, critical thinking, drawing out key information in reading material, interpreting inferential material correctly, and connecting their own real-life experiences to the material they read. Summer reading allows students to maintain these skills learned during the regular school year. Every year, Seoul Academy provides an updated list of summer reading books that we feel are quite beneficial in terms of advancing the skills described above. We encourage all students and their families to browse through the appropriate summer reading list according to the student's grade and choose one or more books that interest them and possibly provide a challenge for summer fun and learning. - The French School of Seoul (LFS) is an establishment that agreed with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) and approved for all levels from kindergarten to high school. Founded in 1974 in Itaewon-dong, the LFS has been settled since 1981 in the Seorae-maeul district, of which it is a recognized institution today. This integration in the heart of a multicultural district of Seoul has been consolidated following the decision taken in 2016 by the Parents’ Association (APE) to maintain the establishment on the current site and to carry out extension work. So this is a new chapter of the history of the LFS that begins to be written today, of which we are all actors. Construction work began in April 2017 will continue throughout the school year. They will enable the school to welcome students, staff, and families in new spaces more numerous, more spacious, adapted, and suitable for the educational missions of our establishment in September 2018. We will also develop a culture of safety and security in the establishment. At the same time, we will focus on maintaining and reinforcing a good-quality pedagogical and educational provision, assured by trained and committed staff, concerned with accompanying students for a successful school career. To speak of the excellence of an institution and the success of students is, of course, to speak of the excellence of their exam results, but also their mastery of several languages, of the construction of their training projects in higher education, of their engagement in civil actions, or, daily, of their progress and the efforts established by all. In the continuity of the actions carried out for several years, we must prepare, promote and accompany the future evolutions of the French School of Seoul, ready to school new French, Korean, and Francophone students. In that respect, the project of establishment in progress will define the policy and the action plan of the LFS for the coming years, reaffirming the status of French schools open to its host country and the world. You can count on the sense of responsibility and the total commitment of all the staff of the establishment, on our willingness to work for the sake of all, with the students and their parents, in synergy with the Bureau of Parents’ Association, the services of the French Embassy and the AEFE, partner associations and institutions. The French School of Seoul welcomes French children firstly to accompany expatriate families. This support also makes it possible to extend the public service outside French territory. Depending on the places available, the French high school also aims to educate the children of the host country as well as children from third countries who wish to benefit from French educational know-how. French students (72% in 2015): Native French-speaking Students from the French education system (public, private establishment under contract and of French high school network abroad) are automatically admitted to the extent that the administrative and financial conditions are fulfilled and within the limit of places available. Students from a private non-contracted institution may be tested for entry. Korean students (12% in 2015): Korean students who fulfill the conditions defined by the local regulations (presidential decree of 28/02/2009) can be enrolled in the LFS. Students who have stayed for at least 3 years abroad or who hold a third nationality and one of whose parents is not Korean may be admitted under such conditions to the LFS. If the student comes from the French education system or the French high school network abroad, admission will be possible, subject to the availability of places without an entrance test. Students of other nationalities (16% in 2015, some twenty different nationalities): Depending on the availability of place, students from the French education system or the network of French schools abroad will be admitted without an entrance test. Other Francophone students may be admitted on an entrance test. The second grade is a class of determination which makes it possible to prepare the choice of a series in the first grade. The class of second grade includes courses that are common to all students, representing 80% of the student’s overall schedule, and two courses of exploration, including one in economics, to which optional teaching can be added. In the first and final grades, in all series, the education programs make it possible gradually to acquire knowledge and skills enabling high school students to pass the baccalaureate exam and preparing the pursuit of higher education. The service of School Life is composed of the Senior Education Advisor, Mr. DELABROSSE, and five full-time or part-time supervisors. School life takes care of students outside class time. Its main mission is to ensure that each student follows his schooling in the best conditions, with respect for people, property, and rules of life in the community. The Office of School Life is a place to welcome and listen to students at any time of the day: school or personal problems, research information on the daily organization of the middle school and the high school. The Senior Education Advisor ensures the individual follow-up of students: an interview with students and families about their behavior in the middle school and the high school, listening role in close collaboration with the school nurse and the principal teachers. He regularly informs families of any problems regarding the schooling of their children. It also provides collective student monitoring, for example, by supervising the management of student flows during class time or in the organization of student delegate meetings. Supervisors oversee students mainly during studying hours, during breaks, and at intercourses. They have an educational role for students: respect for the rules of procedure, advice in the organization, help with homework. They are attentive to the various problems that students may encounter. They also manage absences and delays. We advise you to consult regularly your children’s correspondence book and promote using the login credentials that are communicated to families at the beginning of the school year. You’ll find student schedules, grades, homework, absences, and delays as well as regularly updated information. View full school

Regardless of race or creed, Seoul International School is interested in students who are eager to develop within an environment of excellence with a global perspective in education. Seoul International School (SIS) is an academic institute whose purpose is to provide a challenging U.S. curriculum to meet the primary and secondary educational needs of international students living in Seoul, Korea. The school is committed to the arts, humanities, and sciences as the best preparation for higher education, for service to humanity, and life-long learning in our rapidly changing world. Our efforts focus on developing students’ intellectual, creative, moral, physical, and emotional abilities to their fullest, in cooperation with parents and the global community.SIS seeks to offer a broad set of educational experiences, both curricular and co-curricular, in an environment that is safe, orderly, and supportive. We believe that every day of a child’s educational journey should engage, motivate and inspire them, and this is especially true as children begin their educational journey. The Elementary School curriculum is designed by the faculty with the developmental needs of the children in mind. The process of learning, thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry are stressed. This approach promotes a deeper understanding of the material covered and increases student motivation and interest. An important element in an SIS Elementary School education is the learning that takes place in and about the community. Students are encouraged to work collaboratively and to always consider the needs and perspectives of others. Students learn to be kind, honest, and respectful. In turn, they learn that they are deserving of respect. Students in this caring community setting feel heard, honored, and appreciated, freeing them up to enjoy the challenges inherent in the learning that lies before them. Our mission is not only to prepare students for the next step in their educational careers but to foster an international-mindedness that sparks innovation and curiosity in both learning and life. Seoul International School provides a safe and secure learning environment for your child. Significant and ongoing renovations allow us to keep pace with the ever-changing needs of our instructional programs. The most significant recent project has been the completion of the new elementary and middle school, which includes, bright, naturally lit classrooms with ample space for students to work together in groups. In the summer of 2015, the school had its science labs and auditorium renovated in the main building. Our 350 seat school auditorium is used for school assemblies, teacher and parent functions, fine arts productions, and concerts and is fully equipped with lighting and sound systems. Music students are offered a range of facilities from the band and choir rooms to soundproofed practice rooms. When Seoul International School opened its doors in 1973, it became the first foreign school, after Korean Liberation in 1945, to be fully recognized by the ROK Ministry of Education with a license issued to SIS on June 5, 1973. From that beginning, SIS has grown and expanded to provide excellent opportunities in education for the growing and changing expatriate community. SIS was first located on the campus of Konkuk University where a new classroom facility was completed in 1976. The first graduation of the four-year high school program was held in 1978. As SIS grew and expanded a larger facility and campus were needed. In 1981, the present eight-acre site was selected, and the unique building of Korean design with 150,000 square feet was completed just over four years later. The move to the lovely wooded campus with its many cultural artifacts was made in May 1985. Conveniently located on the southeastern border of Seoul in the direction of Seongnam City, the school is about twenty-five minutes south of Lotte World, the Jamsil subway station, and Olympic Park. The Western Association of School and Colleges (WASC) based in California accredited Seoul International School for a six-year term in 1979. Subsequent accreditation was proudly received in 1985, 1991, 1997, 2003, and the spring of 2009. The philosophy and learning expectations explain what Seoul International School is striving to achieve as it adapts to the ever-changing needs of Seoul’s International Community. SIS stands as an educational institution of high quality where culture blending and a global focus are evident in both the academic and activity programs. View full school

- The history of Big Heart Christian School was begun by the opening of the Hanmaum kindergarten in 1993. After a highly successful 10 years with a kindergarten program, parents requested an expansion of the education system expressing dissatisfaction with the current Korean education system. Realizing that fostering future talents based on the Bible is the only solution to the educational problem, several church leaders and myself established BHCS, in March 2005. There has been tremendous development at BHCS, not only the numerical size of the school but also with a high-quality English curriculum. We began with just 6 students and 2 teachers. As God blessed the school, the student enrollment increased and we hired additional teachers with native English speaking abilities. Since its beginning, another big strength has been a low student-to-teacher ratio in our classes. The educational objectives of Big Heart Christian School may be summarized as a nine bullet paradigm targeting a quality Christian Education as follows: God-oriented education: An education that acknowledges God’s will through the power of prayer and dependence upon the Holy Spirit. Future-world education: An education that acknowledges God’s will through the power of prayer and dependence upon the Holy Spirit. Bible-based education: An education that is based upon God’s special revelation in the context of emerging world knowledge. Individually-adjusted education: An education that is formulated upon the needs of the student both in character and in talent. Nature-friendly education: An education that gleans from God’s general revelation as revealed through His creation plan for mankind. Relationship-based education: An education that focuses on an integrated relationship between God, teacher, parents, students, and others. Experience-based education: An education enhanced by real-life experiences. Unified education: An education that integrates school-wide instructional strategies with practical pedagogy and links with other educational institutions. Autonomous education: An education that produces self-motivated, Christian worldview learners who contribute to mankind. BHCS is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). We seek experienced, highly qualified, and certified faculty and administrative staff who are not only capable but who also have a passion and value for genuine Christian Education. View full school
