About Me

  1. Columbia International School offers motivated students a safe and healthy learning environment wherein in small classes each student is actively engaged in their learning process. In technology and resource-rich classrooms, dynamic and highly qualified teachers support and challenge students to understand the changing world around them. Our teachers incorporate the healthy whole-child concept, recognizing that social and emotional development along with academic progress is essential for each child. Columbia International School also provides students with opportunities to become involved in many aspects of school life, including social and cultural events, community events, and extracurricular activities. These experiences will enable students to develop skills as responsible global citizens and as leaders within our school and our extended school community. I urge you to take full advantage of the many wonderful opportunities, experiences, and advice that will be available to you at Columbia International School. Let Columbia International School’s 21st-century learning open up the world for you. Columbia International School uses the curriculum of the Province of Ontario, Canada, one of the most advanced and respected education systems in the world to explore the world around them. Our school effectiveness and improvement frameworks and our regular Canadian and WASC certification processes along with tremendous support from our parent’s organization ensure our ongoing development as a learning community. All teachers are involved in continuous learning through Columbia International School’s professional learning circles. Our wireless one-to-one laptop environment allows both teachers and students to access the latest information and learning strategies. Our goal is to create a fun, challenging, and supporting lifelong learning environment that allows our students to develop an appreciation of different cultures and perspectives as well as possess superior communication skills and an excellent command of the English language and to have the knowledge and skills to be successful global citizens in the 21st century. If this sounds like the educational environment you would like to be part of, then I urge you to explore the information contained on this website and to make a sound decision for your child. Please feel free to contact the school for any additional information or to schedule a visit. Columbia fosters the personal growth of each student, instills a sense of social awareness, and encourages respect for achievement. The school strives to develop powers of critical and creative thought, preparing its students both for the demands of post-secondary education in English-speaking universities and life as international people. Recognizing the importance of personal development and self-esteem for success in life, the school provides students with varied opportunities for achievement and personal fulfillment through academic studies and other extra-curricular pursuits. Starting school is an exciting time in your child’s life. Columbia International School is proud to offer an English-based kindergarten program that establishes a strong foundation for learning in the early years for students four and five years old. At Columbia International School, your child is entering an environment that values the uniqueness of each child and the diversity of all its learners. In a safe and caring learning environment teachers work to promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of every child to ensure he or she is successful at school. Cradled in the “whole child” philosophy our kindergarten offers a healthy and safe learning environment where each child while actively engaged in their learning process, is supported and challenged to reach their highest potential. Caring and experienced teachers provide opportunities for growth in six major areas: Personal and Social Development, Language, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Health and Physical Activity, and the Arts. Columbia International School’s elementary program incorporates a positive whole child approach that recognizes the need for each child to be healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. The small class size and the collaborative nature of discovery learning methodologies allow for the physical, social, emotional, and academic development of each student. The student-centered approach means purposeful and challenging experiences are designed around ideas, concepts, and themes that are meaningful to students. Caring and highly qualified teachers use the latest strategies to support each student’s language development in our literacy-rich classrooms. In this way, your child develops fluency in both English and Japanese. Columbia Junior High School Program! Our Junior High School for students from grades 7-9 offers two program tracks one for those students who are proficient in English and another program track for students who are beginners or need language support. Small class sizes and our specialized and highly qualified teaching staff ensure individualized attention to language and academic needs and the personal growth and development of each student. In our wireless one-to-one laptop environment, students use the latest technology to support their learning. We encourage all students to get involved in the many programs and activities made available to them at Columbia. Teachers and parents communicating, supporting, and working together are important components of student success. At Columbia, we are committed to offering you a student-centered academic and co-curricular program ensuring an active fun, and rewarding learning experience for your child. Since our founding, we have offered our students one of the most challenging and globally recognized courses of study based on the Ontario (Canada) curriculum. Why Ontario? Well, Ontario consistently places at or near the top in reading, math, and science when compared to other jurisdictions in Canada and worldwide. For example, in comparative studies, Ontario Grade 4 student reading abilities are among the best in the world. In the most recent Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) assessment, Ontario was in the top 3 globally. In addition, 91% of Ontario Grade 10 students met or exceeded the critical science benchmark in the most recent Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) study. In fact, on a global comparison, Ontario (and Canada) has consistently ranked near the top in the PISA ratings, much higher than the United States and Great Britain!
  2. Upper Columbia Academy's history began in the 1920s when Yakima Valley Academy was formed. That school had to close down because the young people were causing it to split at the seams. Walls were held together by metal cables mounted on both sides of the rooms. They had to find a more prominent place. Elder Mote, Upper Columbia Conference president at the time, was permitted by constituents to spend no more than $100,000 for a school. Surprisingly, Elder Mote's was the only bid, and YVA got it, along with 15 hogs that they sold for $1500 to provide operating capital for the first year of school. After the move, the academy was renamed Upper Columbia Academy. Core Values & Objectives are: Relationship With Christ: Upper Columbia Academy is a school where students actively seek a relationship with Christ through prayer, Bible study, service, and evangelism. Family Atmosphere: The staff and community at Upper Columbia Academy care deeply for youth and invest their time and resources to build Christ-centered relationships with students. Student Leadership: We equip students to serve humanity by empowering them with leadership responsibility today. Academic Diversity: We provide high quality, diverse curriculum offering students many alternatives to meet their academic needs. School Objectives areas: Relational Social growth consistent with Biblical standards Unselfish service to church, family, and community Appreciation of the worth of all people Personal mission to take the gospel to the World Preparation for the soon return of Jesus Physical Healthful living habits Appreciation of the value and dignity of labor Mental Strong academic foundations Intellectual curiosity Critical thinking Learning experiences that reflect Seventh-day Adventist values Self-motivated life-long learning skills Aesthetic values and talents Challenge for educational excellence Spiritual A growing knowledge of God as Creator and Sustainer of life Development of a Christian Character Ethical Christian decision-making Utilization of Christian principles in the use of their God-given talents Appreciation for the Word of God Prayer, worship, and faith experience Recognition of God's complete ownership Mission Statement: By the Grace of God, Upper Columbia Academy educates students to develop the physical, mental, and spiritual powers harmoniously, inspiring a life-changing relationship with God and the highest service for others. Upper Columbia Academy is a family of curious learners who believe that proper education addresses a whole person's potential in a balanced development of the physical, mental, spiritual, and social dimensions. While we value the rigorous pursuit of knowledge, our main objective is to help students develop a solid Christian character, realize their worth as children of God, embrace Christian values, and learn to make moral choices. This goal is best reached in a context of responsible freedom and redemptive discipline. The curriculum reflects the worldview and the values revealed in scripture. Students are educated to embrace service as a way of life, be sensitive to people's needs in the home and society, and become active church members. Young people are encouraged to accept Jesus Christ as Creator, Savior, Lord, and Coming King and commit their lives to Him.
  3. Columbia is a two-form entry, community primary school in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. We admit boys and girls from the ages 3 - 11. Our intake of pupils is diverse, reflecting the multi-ethnic community served by the school. Many of our children have English as their second language. This diversity provides a rich context for the school's ethos of inclusion and there is a strong emphasis on respect for every individual member. There is also a strong emphasis on creativity at Columbia: both creativity of thinking, throughout all teaching and learning, and also in the creative arts. The Early Years Unit follows the 'Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and provides a play-based and experiential learning environment. The children are based in their rooms for some parts of the day but spend most of their time engaged in self-initiated and free flow activities throughout the whole set, including the outside play area. Each year group follows the National Curriculum for their stage of learning and, at Columbia, we integrate this learning into cross-curricular themes to make it more meaningful and cohesive. We believe that teaching and learning should have the child at the center and should meet their needs, their interests and enable them to achieve their full potential. There is a wide range of enrichment activities, school visits, and extracurricular activities to complement the National Curriculum. Columbia school provides a particularly rich and creative curriculum, described as outstanding in our last OFSTED report. Although the Curriculum changes regularly to meet the needs and interests of our pupils, we use a curriculum map as our starting point which is based around the expectations and content of the New National Curriculum as well as including our school curriculum. There are many opportunities for children to participate and contribute to the life of the school and we encourage them to take responsibility and become active citizens of our school community, our local community, and the wider world. We aim to make teaching and learning creative, active, and engaging and we do this by putting a high emphasis on talking and thinking together, questioning, making connections, exploring possibilities and experimenting with new ideas, solving problems, and looking for new solutions and possibilities. We greatly value the creative arts and use them throughout our curriculum for their intrinsic worth and to access other areas of learning through the arts. We are proud to be an Artsmark Gold school and a Creative Partnership’s 'School of Creativity,' one of only sixty such schools in the UK.

It gives students a solid foundation in the liberal arts and sciences, helping them develop the intellectual tools they need to excel in any endeavor they pursue. It exposes students to the wisdom and perspective of a variety of disciplines. It builds fundamental skills that they will use, no matter what their ultimate major or career. In a rapidly-changing, increasingly complex world where our graduates may change careers multiple times, a robust general education is needed more than ever. The University of the District of Columbia is historic and modern, all at the same time. Public higher education in the District originated in 1851 when Myrtilla Miner founded a "school for colored girls" in Washington, DC. In 1879, Miner Normal School joined the D.C. public school system. Similarly, Washington Normal School was established in 1873 as a school for white girls. The latter institution was renamed Wilson Normal School in 1913, after James O. Wilson, Washington'sWashington's first superintendent of public schools. In 1929, Congress enacted a statute that converted both regular schools into four-year teacher'steacher's colleges. For several years, Miner Teachers College and Wilson Teachers College were the only institutions of public higher education in the city. After the landmark U.S. Supreme Court school desegregation decision, Brown v. Board of Education (U.S. 1954), the two colleges merged in 1955 to form the District of Columbia Teacher'sTeacher's College. Over the next decade, D.C. residents petitioned to expand higher education that would provide training for careers other than teaching. In 1966, Congress enacted the District of Columbia Public Education Act, which established Federal City College and Washington Technical Institute. Although these schools were still very new, many Washingtonians continued to advocate for a comprehensive university. The City Council authorized the consolidation of the three schools, and in 1976, began the monumental task of creating a new University of the District of Columbia. In 1977, under President Carter'sCarter's leadership, UDC began consolidating its academic programs. These efforts culminated in establishing five colleges: Business and Public Management Education and Human Ecology Liberal and Fine Arts Life Sciences Physical Science, Engineering, and Technology and University College and Continuing Education. UDC continues to transform itself over time to meet the changing needs of its students and the community. The University currently offers 81 undergraduate and graduate academic degree programs through the following colleges and schools: College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES), College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), School of Business and Public Administration (SBPA) School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) the Community College and David A. Clarke School of Law. View full university

  6. Columbia Independent School guides students in their pursuit of excellence, beginning with children at the earliest stages of development in junior kindergarten and creating a seamless educational experience through graduation. Our intentionally crafted curriculum is designed to stretch every child's mind and provide exemplary support for students throughout the lower, middle, and upper school divisions. CIS prepares students for rigorous academic life in college and success in the global world. This preparation is achieved through small class sizes, a committed faculty, a safe and close-knit community built on diverse backgrounds, and lively and engaging classrooms, which exude the joy of living. The faculty and staff at CIS create an intimate learning environment where students receive personalized, quality instruction and guidance throughout their academic journey. Students are engaged with a strong liberal arts curriculum, including courses in fine arts, foreign languages such as Latin, and many others. Also, the Center for Inspiration, Innovation, and Investigation enhance a student's natural curiosity through hands-on experiences that build problem-solving and collaboration skills. CIS has the unique opportunity to bring students together at all grade levels through cross-divisional class projects, assemblies and socials, and all-school community events. Columbia Independent School is a place of opportunity. As the only independent, college preparatory school in Central Missouri, CIS students and families come from diverse backgrounds to join our school and explore the many opportunities and experiences that only a small school like CIS can offer. While many families initially pursue our school because of our strong reputation for academics and our excellent outcomes in preparing students for college, they find that the opportunities to learn and grow extend well beyond traditional learning. In our lower and middle schools, every student studies the visual or performing arts, modern language (Spanish, French, Mandarin), Latin (beginning in middle school), and physical education, in addition to classes in math, history, science, and English. With our Center for Inspiration, Innovation, and Investigation, students in JK - 12 have the opportunity to learn skills in computer coding, 3D design, and printing, and other Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) skills that prepare them for the future they will inherit. Our advisory programs emphasize communication skills, character development, and empathy. Our upper school program is built around the ideals of student engagement and participation. Students take an active role in leading class discussions and enjoy close, meaningful relationships with their peers. Teachers serve as mentors, guiding students both academically and ethically, as our students grow to become leaders and global citizens. CIS students are not bound to specific roles and activities. Each student can be an artist, athlete, and academic - and many of our upper school students choose to be all three. Our mission is to guide students in pursuing excellence through academic, physical, and creative achievement while exemplifying a commitment to integrity, trust, and responsibility. To encourage students to realize the joy of living through personal achievement and service to others in preparation for higher learning and community life. Our Philosophical Principles: CIS is one school, junior kindergarten through 12th grade, sharing a joint mission implemented in an age-appropriate manner. While identifying with a grade level, division, or discipline, the faculty shares a commitment to the entire school. CIS believes that learning is a life-long process, and the best way to help students realize a passion for learning is for teaching and learning to be personalized. Our faculty are supported in this by a student load and teaching schedule that allows for a high individual attention level. The faculty's CIS curriculum is designed based on the skills and content that a graduate is expected to possess. It is integrated within departments and across divisions. It is designed to promote depth of understanding rather than a superficial acquaintance, and students demonstrate mastery in various ways. CIS values its students as individuals. Faculty engage students in multiple contexts (e.g., as teachers, advisors, coaches, etc.). Each student is known and appreciated for who they are and what they bring to our community. CIS is attentive to the emotional and physical health of our students. This includes creating an environment that is physically, intellectually, and morally safe. CIS consciously works to create a culture of integrity, trust, and responsibility. CIS and its families are engaged in a partnership to support the education of their students/children. Families actively support the school through volunteer activities and create a climate at home that values education and supports the school's mission. CIS appreciates the benefits of being an inclusive community and enables all community members to use their unique talents in support of our educational endeavor. CIS faculty model the life-long learning that it aspires to for our graduates. As an institution, CIS supports the faculty's professional development both through fiscal resources and through time for collaborative planning and reflection.

View full school

  15. View full school
  16. Columbia University is one of the world's most important research centers and, at the same time, a distinctive and distinguished learning environment for undergraduates and graduate students in many scholarly and professional fields. The University recognizes the importance of its location in New York City and seeks to link its research and teaching to a great metropolis's vast resources. It seeks to attract a diverse and international faculty and student body, support research, teach on global issues and create academic relationships with many countries and regions. It expects all areas of the University to advance knowledge and learning at the highest level and to convey the products of its efforts to the world. For more than 250 years, Columbia has been a leader in higher education globally and around the world. At the core of our wide range of academic inquiry are the commitment to attract and engage the best minds to pursue greater human understanding, pioneering discoveries, and service to society. The University offers an outstanding and comprehensive array of academic programs. These include three undergraduate schools, thirteen graduate and professional schools, a world-renowned medical center, four affiliated colleges and seminaries, twenty-five libraries, and more than one hundred research centers and institutes. Columbia University was founded in 1754 as King's College by royal charter of King George II of England. It is the oldest institution of higher learning in New York and the fifth oldest in the United States. Controversy preceded the founding of the College, with various groups competing to determine its location and religious affiliation. Advocates of New York City met with success on the first point, while the Anglicans prevailed on the latter. However, all constituencies agreed to commit themselves to principles of religious liberty in establishing the policies of the College. In July 1754, Samuel Johnson held the first classes in a new schoolhouse adjoining Trinity Church, located on lower Broadway in Manhattan. There were eight students in the class. At King's College, the future leaders of colonial society could receive an education designed to "enlarge the Mind, improve the Understanding, polish the whole Man, and qualify them to support the brightest Characters in all the elevated stations in life." One early manifestation of the institution's lofty goals was the establishment in 1767 of the first American medical school to grant the M.D. degree. The American Revolution brought the growth of the College to a halt, forcing a suspension of instruction in 1776 that lasted for eight years. However, the institution continued to influence American life through the people associated with it significantly. Among the earliest students and trustees of King's College were John Jay, the first chief justice of the United States, Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the treasury Gouverneur Morris, the author of the final draft of the U.S. Constitution, and Robert R. Livingston, a member of the five-person committee that drafted the Declaration of Independence. The College reopened in 1784 with a new name—Columbia—that embodied the patriotic fervor that had inspired the nation's quest for independence. The revitalized institution was recognizable as the descendant of its colonial ancestor, thanks to its inclination toward Anglicanism and an urban population's needs. However, there were significant differences: Columbia College reflected the legacy of the Revolution in the greater economic, denominational, and geographic diversity of its new students and leaders. Cloistered campus life gave way to the more common phenomenon of day students who lived at home or lodged in the city. In 1857, the College moved from Park Place, near the present city hall, to Forty-ninth Street and Madison Avenue, where it remained for the next forty years. During the last half of the nineteenth century, Columbia rapidly assumed the shape of a modern university. The Columbia School of Law was founded in 1858. The country's first mining school, a precursor of today's Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, was established in 1864 and awarded the first Columbia Ph.D. in 1875. When Seth Low became Columbia's president in 1890, he vigorously promoted the university ideal for the College, placing the fragmented federation of independent and competing schools under a central administration that stressed cooperation and shared resources. Barnard College for women had become affiliated with Columbia in 1889. The medical school came under the University's aegis in 1891, followed by Teachers College in 1893. The development of graduate faculties in political science, philosophy, and pure science established Columbia as one of the nation's earliest graduate education centers. In 1896, the trustees officially authorized the use of yet another new name, Columbia University, and today the institution is officially known as Columbia University in the City of New York. Low's most significant accomplishment, however, was moving the University from Forty-ninth Street to the more spacious Morningside Heights campus, designed as an urban academic village by McKim, Mead, and White, the renowned turn-of-the-century architectural firm. Architect Charles Follen McKim provided Columbia with stately buildings patterned after those of the Italian Renaissance. The University continued to prosper after its move uptown in 1897. During the presidency of Nicholas Murray Butler (1902–1945), Columbia emerged as a preeminent national center for educational innovation and scholarly achievement. The School of Journalism was established by a bequest of Joseph Pulitzer in 1912. John Erskine taught the first Great Books Honors Seminar at Columbia College in 1919, making the study of original masterworks the foundation of undergraduate education. In the same year, a course on war and peace studies originated the College's influential Core Curriculum. In the words of College alumnus Herman Wouk, Columbia became a place of "doubled magic," where "the best things of the moment were outside the rectangle of Columbia the best things of all human history and thought were inside the rectangle." The study of the sciences flourished along with the liberal arts. Franz Boas founded the modern science of anthropology here in the early decades of the twentieth century, even as Thomas Hunt Morgan set modern genetics. In 1928, Columbia–Presbyterian Medical Center, the first such center to combine teaching, research, and patient care, was officially opened as a joint project between the medical school and The Presbyterian Hospital. By the late 1930s, a Columbia student could study with Jacques Barzun, Paul Lazarsfeld, Mark Van Doren, Lionel Trilling, and I. I. Rabi, to name just a few of the great minds of the Morningside campus. The University's graduates during this time were equally accomplished—for example, two alumni of Columbia's School of Law, Charles Evans Hughes and Harlan Fiske Stone (who was also dean of the School of Law), served successively as Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Research into the atom by faculty members I. I. Rabi, Enrico Fermi, and Polykarp Kusch brought Columbia's Department of Physics to international prominence in the 1940s. The founding of the School of International Affairs (now the School of International and Public Affairs) in 1946 marked the beginning of intensive growth in international relations as a primary scholarly focus of the University. The oral-history movement in the United States was launched at Columbia in 1948. Columbia celebrated its bicentennial in 1954 during a period of steady expansion. This growth mandated a major campus building program in the 1960s, and, by the end of the decade, five of the University's schools were housed in new buildings. It was also in the 1960s that Columbia experienced the most significant crisis in its history. Currents of unrest sweeping the country—among them opposition to the Vietnam War, an increasingly militant civil rights movement, and the ongoing decline of America's inner cities—converged with particular force at Columbia, casting the Morningside campus into the national spotlight. More than 1,000 protesting students occupied five buildings in the last week of April 1968, effectively shutting down the University until the New York City police forcibly removed them. Those events led directly to the cancellation of a proposed gym in Morningside Park, the cessation of specific classified research projects on campus, the retirement of President Grayson Kirk, and a downturn in the University's finances and morale. They also led to the creation of the University Senate, in which faculty, students, and alumni acquired a larger voice in University affairs. In recent decades, Columbia's campuses have seen a revival of spirit and energy that has been truly momentous. Under the leadership of President Michael Sovern, the 1980s saw the completion of significant new facilities, and the pace intensified after George Rupp became president in 1993. A 650-million-dollar building program begun in 1994 provided the impetus for a wide range of projects, including the complete renovation of Furnald Hall and athletics facilities on campus and at Baker Field, the wiring of the campus for Internet and wireless access, the rebuilding of Dodge Hall for the School of the Arts, the construction of new facilities for the Schools of Law and Business, the renovation of Butler Library, and the creation of the Philip L. Milstein Family College Library. The University also continued to develop the Audubon Biotechnology and Research Park, securing Columbia's place at the forefront of medical research. As New York City's only university-related research park, it also contributes to economic growth through the creation of private-sector research collaborations and the generation of new biomedically related business. Scholarship, community, and the purposeful drive empowered by a zeal for the Great Commission have attracted thousands of students for nearly a century to our Christian University and seminary. We have never strayed from our core values. You do not have to either. At CIU, you will form Christ-centered partnerships that will last a lifetime. CIU focuses on developing leaders while affirming the Bible as the foundation for all learning. We live by our motto, "To Know Him and to Make Him Known." We are a multidenominational, evangelical, coeducational Christian university, graduate school, and seminary, all with full accreditation. Located in Columbia, South Carolina, CIU offers more than classes and degrees. You bring us your passion. We will provide you the space for personal growth, academic excellence … the avenues you need to pursue your dreams. During your academic experience at CIU, we want you to engage your head, heart, and hands. That's the Educational Triad. Yes, we want students to excel academically. However, we also want to help you yield to Christ unconditionally while enriching your spiritual life, achieving your personal and career goals, and practicing your vocational skills wherever God leads you. Today, we continue that effort, offering 19 undergraduate majors, graduate and seminary programs, professional certificates, and convenient online programs for working adults. The love of God's word anchors the experience providing you with a foundation that will guide you for the rest of your life. Our faculty and administration bring years of Christ-centered teaching and hands-on experience from around the world. In our small class settings, you receive one-on-one attention from professors and cultivate relationships with them. Christian community is at the heart of CIU. Student life offers you opportunities to build lifelong friendships, pursue interests outside the classroom, and explore creative ways to serve others on- and off-campus. 24. BCCIS opened its doors to 27 students and their families in September 2005. Since then, we are proud to say that we have multiplied to a community of over 800 students and more than 100 staff members, ranging from Early Child Education (ECE) to Kindergarten through grade 12. BCCIS implements the BC curriculum from KG2, to grade 12. The BC curriculum has been ranked as one of the top education systems internationally. We not only strive to help our students become critical thinkers, but to also help support them in their social-emotional growth, and to become the best versions of themselves. BCCIS works hard to employ staff members that are dedicated and well-rounded in multiple disciples. Our staff members make it their personal mission to provide individual support that caters to different students’ needs, as well as provide support inside and outside that classroom. BCCIS considers itself a small community faculty member who creates a close relationship with students and helps create an environment where both academic and personal achievements can be met. We implement an ‘open door policy, which provides opportunities for students to approach faculty members at all times for extra support. At BCCIS we encourage the pursuit of excellence in all endeavors and the acceptance of responsibility for the enrichment of society. Striving for excellence today preparing students to succeed in a challenging world tomorrow. Building a safe, inclusive, and engaging school community has always been one of BCCIS’s main goals. Although academic achievement is important, providing extracurricular activities to engage students has been proven time and time again to have a positive impact on their development. Over the years, BCCIS has taken initiative in developing activities and after-school clubs that will help mold students into successful adults in their post-secondary studies. Our clubs focus on encouraging diversity, developing interpersonal skills, and building empathy while lending a hand to the greater community in Cairo. The most important goal of our early childhood is to help children become enthusiastic learners. this means encouraging children to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas and to think their own thoughts. Our goal is to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners. we are teaching them how to learn in an environment that is developmentally appropriate. we are allowing them to learn at their own pace and in the ways that are best for their developmental level. We also recognize that there are occasionally behavioral issues outside of the appropriate developmental and age continuum for socially acceptable behavior. For example, behavior that results in ongoing classroom management problems such as disruptive or aggressive acting out that causes concern for the well-being of the student and/or other students, will be addressed individually. At such times we will share our observations and concerns with parents to determine if the problem is something we can work on together or if we need to seek advice and counseling from an outside professional agency.
