About Me

  1. California Lutheran High School is accredited by WASC, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. WASC is one of six regional associations in the United States that accredit both public and private schools, colleges, and universities. This means that CLHS meets or exceeds every education standard set by the state of California. Our education program is constantly being reviewed to ensure that CLHS offers the highest quality education. Our curriculum is also accepted by the University of California—the most discriminating public institution in California. Empowered by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, California Lutheran High School exists to educate, encourage, and equip young men and women for life and eternity. In the pursuit of our mission, California Lutheran High School will: Promote spiritual growth and Christian service among all members of the campus family, Provide an exceptional faith-based, college-prep educational program, Preserve a distinctively Christian school culture, Prepare lifelong disciples of Christ who serve their future families, churches, and communities with their God-given gifts, Prompt the WELS/ELS students to consider the noble goal of the full-time teaching and preaching ministries, Propound opportunities for Christian service, athletic competition, and the arts through which students can develop varied interests, and Pilot students through a comprehensive program to equip them for Christian leadership in their future families, churches, and careers. California Lutheran High School will serve a growing multi-national student body with Christ-centered classical education built upon our common Lutheran confession of faith. Can you imagine the front of our Education Center without its large stained-glass cross? In its original design, the cross was not there at all. The planning process of the building brought about quite a few changes from the original design. After some discussion at a meeting it was decided that, even though the additional expense would be significant, the cross was important. Sharing God's Word with hundreds of students. Working with families and congregations to mold them into Christian leaders in their homes, their congregations, and their workplaces have always been our mission. What's so important about an oddly shaped window? Quite simply, without any words at all, it tells what we're all about. For our entire history, our school has been...ALL...about the Cross. Many things have, and will continue to change at California Lutheran High School. We will, however, always be...All About the Cross.
  2. Established in 1992, California School is fully registered with the Education Bureau of Hong Kong to offer a full-time regular education to children. California School offers an international curriculum similar to the one used at KGV and other ESF schools. We offer the world-renowned IGCSE (for F4/F5), GCE A-Level (F7). All these are accredited by the U.K. and H.K. governments. Students of other schools normally transfer to California School in F.4. because they want to earn IGCSE/GCE qualifications instead of an HKCEE. Our UK-issued certificates are valid, recognized & accepted worldwide. As a result of the achievements of our students, our GCE classes have consistently expanded. Today the teaching of California School is held in high acclaim by all segments of Sub Continentals. At California School, we not only provide professional academic training but also strive to develop the social character of the whole student. Young people prosper and thrive in an environment which can maintain close contact with them - in this School they will never be "lost in the crowd". Our mission: To provide a stimulating environment that nurtures the all-around development of a child, so that each may in their own unique way, grow into a creative, caring, and responsible individual, ready to meet the new challenges in life. To provide internationally recognized quality education to all students irrespective of his / her ethnic background. To cultivate a sense of responsibility among the students who are the lifeblood of the community. To instill social values in students to become caring, capable, confident, and productive young adults.

At our institution, we strive to graduate professionals who can handle personal and civic challenges and opportunities. Lincoln University's educational approach combines a continuously evolving up-to-date curriculum development to recruit established, professional faculty who can provide state-of-the-art education. Lincoln University developed a perspective built upon institutional goals and learning outcomes. Our success can be measured in part by the number of individual lives the University helped to shape. The vast majority of our students attribute their achievements to education received in the school. Our University plays a vital role in students' life by providing an educational setting where students can foster quality education, good citizenship, personal involvement, and contribution to the world community. The University is conducive to building students' confidence and active participation during individualized faculty-student interaction. We are committed to students' development of personal competency by providing an educational experience to help the students realize personal goals serving the students by offering programs in which an integral component will focus on international and cross-cultural dimensions. The University strives to give students a background in general studies and specialized knowledge in a chosen field. While the University offers its students a wealth of valuable knowledge, it believes that its primary task is to teach students not only concepts but also the process of discovery, analysis, and successful application. Thus, our programs encompass a foundation of concepts and theory, blended with real-life applications. Lincoln University welcomes applications for admission from students of serious purpose qualified to study in their major fields of interest. Admission is based on a review of all credentials presented by an applicant, but in no case is admission denied due to race, color, national origin, gender, age, or handicap. 4. Dominican educates and prepares students to be ethical leaders and socially responsible global citizens who incorporate the Dominican values of study, reflection, community, and service into their lives. The University is committed to diversity, sustainability, and integrating the liberal arts, the sciences, and professional programs. Dominican offers more than 60 programs of study, reflecting our faculty, students, and location's diversity and creativity. With our 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio, average class size of 16, and proximity to San Francisco, we can provide both the personal attention associated with smaller schools and the academic resources and global opportunities associated with larger universities. Dominican is known for being close-knit, friendly, and supportive. With only 1,843 students, small class size, and our small-town, park-like campus, students make amazing friends and truly get to know their professors. They're involved, challenged, and recognized, all while being supported, guided, and encouraged by dedicated faculty and friends. Also, Dominican offers more than 50 student clubs and organizations. Here at Dominican, students do not have to look far to find an opportunity for serenity and reflection. It is everywhere. The University's 80-acre campus with beautifully manicured gardens offers a calming influence and sun-drenched benches to relax upon. At Dominican, students find themselves sharing the basics of good sportsmanship with lacrosse campers, teaming up with local museum curators to create traveling art exhibits, and mentoring low-income families in preparing their tax returns. Last year alone, our students completed over 8,645 service-learning hours. It is no wonder Dominican has once again been named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll – the highest federal recognition for commitment to service-learning and community engagement. Fostering an appreciation of cultural diversity and global interdependence is a fundamental part of your Dominican education. There is no better way to develop a rich understanding of different cultural perspectives than by spending time living, learning, and working in a foreign country. There is a growing demand in the United States, across industries and geographical locations, for multilingual and multicultural professionals. Studying abroad and learning a new language will give you the competitive edge you will need once you graduate. The Dominican University of California encourages undergraduate students to participate in approved and sponsored exchange programs as part of the Engaged Learning Initiative. The Dominican Experience is designed for the twenty-first-century student––the thinker, the doer, the artist, the activist, the trailblazer, the entrepreneur––from every walk of life. Moreover, we have done our research. The data shows that some educational practices are better than others. We have picked the best ones and built them into the Dominican Experience. The Service-Learning Program's mission is to centralize resources and support for faculty, students, partner organizations, and the diverse communities they serve to advance education and social justice through shared learning and collaborative action. The service-learning program provides training, resources, and support for faculty, students, and community partners. We strive to foster intentional, collaborative learning relationships with and between all stakeholders and support the broader university-wide community engagement culture that contributes to student success and prepares students to be engaged citizens in the global society. At Dominican, you will be inspired and pushed, taken care of, and set loose to discover your true passion. We are here to guide you, answer your questions, and prepare you for the beginning of your Dominican story. Your health, wellbeing, and academic success are important to us. Services are free of charge and available to all registered Dominican students. Our program provides a supportive environment where you can explore, change, and grow at your own pace, based on your own needs and desires. We all have a variety of concerns that can affect how we deal with the day-to-day world. Having someone to talk to can often help us put things into perspective and make decisions that will enhance our lives and relationships. Counseling can deal with relationships, school, test anxiety, study problems, suicidal thoughts, family conflict, alcohol and drug use, stress, and general feelings of being "stuck." Sometimes you may not have a specific concern, but need to talk to someone. Clients have been significantly helped by the service the counselors have provided.
  5. Concordia University Irvine, guided by the Great Commission of Christ Jesus and the Lutheran Confessions, empowers students through the liberal arts and professional studies for lives of learning, service, and leadership. Concordia University Irvine prepares students for their vocations—their various callings in life. CUI offers undergraduate, graduate, and online degree programs in a beautiful Southern California location, with online and regional cohort options. Concordia's undergraduate program is distinctive among universities in California because of its nationally recognized Enduring Questions & Ideas (Q&I) Core program, and its Lutheran heritage that provides a thoughtful and caring Christian community that lives out the theology of "Grace Alone. Faith Alone." At Concordia Irvine, we are dedicated not only to fostering a love for lifelong learning, but to shaping a coherent and comprehensive view of the world, of humanity, and of the God who created and redeemed both. We foster an intellectual pursuit of that which is true, a moral commitment to that which is good, and an aesthetic appreciation of beauty. At Concordia University Irvine, marketing is a comprehensive and collaborative process in which administrative and academic leadership work together to develop and manage revenue-generating, mission-aligned programs for multiple higher education markets. Essentially, the role of marketing is to understand market dynamics and leverage them to our advantage in ethical and consistent ways with our mission. Thus, the University's marketing planning process focuses on offering market-sensitive academic programs (product), convenient delivery system options (place), inbound and outbound marketing strategies (promotion), and competitive tuition and financial aid (price). The Office of Marketing and Communications leads marketing and branding initiatives for the University, collaborating with university and program leadership to advance its mission and brand and assist its programs in recruiting students and fundraising by developing promotional strategies. Our work is mostly at the top of the admissions funnel for tuition revenue programs and at the bottom of our fundraising program's giving pyramid. In other words, our work is about content creation across channels and platforms, establishing and affirming brand, increasing name awareness, and generating inquiries and applications. Although we are involved beyond those points in the purchase and donor cycles, Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate & Adult Admissions, the University Foundation, and program personnel largely lead conversion and cultivation strategies and tactics. The MarCom team comprises CUI employees, contracted partners, and vendors that provide expertise and develop data-based strategies and tactics across channels and platforms to meet university goals. Financial aid is a monetary assistance program provided to students for education costs in scholarships, grants, awards, part-time employment, and loans. It includes federal aid, state aid, private or outside aid, and aid from Concordia University. Let us help you find the answers. Concordia is well known for its individualized attention. We are here to help. The Assessment and Care Committee is committed to the mission of the University by providing early intervention for students whose actions pose a concern to personal health and safety or the safety of the University community. Comprised of critical representatives from Student and Academic Affairs, the Committee is committed to campus-wide sharing and synthesis of the information to identify potential risks and develop and implement a response. The ACC is empowered by the Executive Vice President/Chief Enrollment Officer to decide a student's status within the University community. Career Services supports the mission of Concordia University Irvine by helping undergraduate students determine and fulfill their career goals through programs and services that foster, in each student, career management confidence via self-assessment, research, skill development, and exposure to opportunity. The Disability and Learning Resource Center is committed to ensuring that Concordia University Irvine is a campus inclusive and accessible for its diverse population of disabled students, faculty, staff, and visitors. CUI believes that the learning environment extends beyond the traditional lecture hall and laboratory and into the informal learning spaces of the residence halls, recreation areas, and gathering places. Our residence halls provide many opportunities for you to create lifelong friendships, build leadership skills, work, have fun, and get academic support to keep you on the road to graduation and success. You will be supported and challenged to experience more and accomplish more to become the leaders who will transform yourselves and the world. Imagine yourself living in Paris, Salzburg, or Cambridge. These are just a few places where Concordia students have studied. Would you instead study in Oxford, Australia, or Dublin? Talk to us about all of our study abroad programs. As the Great Commission University, Concordia is dedicated to providing a wide variety of mission and service opportunities for student participation. There is a trip offering for every level of the student experience.

At this initial Welcome Meeting, accommodations will be determined individually while meeting with the student and reviewing current professional documentation. The purpose of such accommodations is to provide equal access to classroom programs and campus activities in a manner consistent with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, associated California laws and regulations, and CSU policies. In addition to accommodation and support services to University students, faculty, and staff members, we inform and collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure the successful implementation of academic accommodations and increase access and inclusion of all individuals on campus. Academic Advising and Career Education (AACE) is a one-stop center for academic advising and career development assistance. Our counselors guide students in understanding and completing all General Education and graduation requirements in addition to helping them clarify and attain their career goals. 12. In 2005 President Karen Haynes started a Tribal Initiative at CSUSM. She began her work by creating a Native Advisory Council (NAC) comprised of faculty, staff, and, most importantly, representatives appointed by local tribal communities. The NAC is a broad-based tribal community council with a mission to "assist regional tribal communities in Indian country in articulating educational needs through advisement and regular meetings with CSUSM President and CSUSM Leadership." The NAC works to increase educational, professional, and research opportunities while preserving the cultural integrity of tribal communities and realizing individual and unique concerns. The members first conceived the American Indian Studies Department of the President's Native Advisory Council. In 2007, CSUSM hired the first full-time tribal liaison, Ms. Tishmall Turner (Rincon Band of Luiseno Indians) in the CSU system from a local tribal community. In 2008, Dr. Joely Proudfit (Payomkawichum) joined CSUSM faculty in Sociology/Native Studies and was hired to take the leadership role in developing the California Indian Culture and Sovereignty Center (CICSC). The CICSC charter was approved in 2009, and the doors opened November 17, 2011. The CICSC has a mission to foster collaborative research and community service relationships between faculty, staff, and students at CSUSM and local tribal communities. With tribal staff, faculty, and community support firmly in place at CSUSM, the prominent missing piece to the Tribal Initiative was in curricular offerings. Since 2008 the work to develop an American Indian Studies major/department has been a combination of community-based and formal university-wide collaborations. In the Fall Semester 2014, Provost Graham Oberem convened an American Indian Task Force to determine the need to create an American Indian Studies Department. The Task Force recommended that such a department be created and that a significant study area is also considered shortly. In the Spring Semester 2015, Provost Oberem announced his support of the Task Force's recommendation to create an American Indian Studies Department at the Academic Senate meeting (May 2015). He also announced Dr. Joely Proudfit as the inaugural chair of the American Indian Studies Department. Following her appointment as department chair, Dr. Proudfit was tasked with convening a strategic planning process to develop a vision, mission, and strategic objectives for the AIS department. In the Fall Semester of 2015, Dr. Proudfit worked with a consultant to develop its strategic plan. A core committee and a larger campus-community committee were invited to attend three planning meetings. The Strategic Plan's key outcomes were the creation of a vision statement, a mission statement, and objectives that outlined the process to submit a request for a major in American Indian Studies. The American Indian Studies (AIS) Department was formed by the recommendation of the Provost's Task Force in the Fall Semester 2014. Dr. Proudfit was named the inaugural chair in Spring Semester 2015, and the Native Studies Minor was wholly revised and reformed to meet the educational needs of AIAN in the 21st Century. A proposal to develop a Bachelor of Arts Degree in AIS was submitted for curricular review in the Fall Semester 2015 and is pending approval. The goal was to launch the AIS Major in Fall 2016. The Mission of the American Indian Studies Department is to provide students with research, community- and place-based program of study through an integrated approach to understanding tribal knowledge about the diverse history, government-to-government relationship, community, culture, and social needs of American Indians in California and the U.S. to work effectively with and for tribal communities as they interface with non-Indian communities to exercise tribal sovereignty. AIS provides a bridge between campus and community activities and engagement. Our goal is to create culturally intelligent graduates who will contribute to the regional workforce, including working for Tribal Nations in meaningful ways. Our courses include tribal community engagement, guest lectures, field trips, participatory research, and service-learning activities. The byline for the California Indian Culture and Sovereignty Center states, "Education is the Path to Self-Determination." These words greet our staff, students, faculty, and visitors to our ad hoc American Indian Studies Department, and they are words that we live by. We live in a fast-moving and complicated era of tribal sovereignty in which the most common image that everyday citizens have of American Indians is a casino. As an American Indian educator, I have spent my entire life combating American Indians' harmful stereotypes ranging from the drunken and poor Indian to the Indian-maiden costume that shows up all too frequently at Halloween and in "cowboys and Indians" themed parties. The motivation for me to fight the good fight always boils down to the byline for the CICSC-education is the path to self-determination, and this is true for all of us Indian and non-Indian alike. For American Indian people, mainly, the need for education to sustain the milestones and achievements that our tribal ancestors and leaders have worked so hard to build is paramount. Building a 21st century AIS department, minor, and, hopefully, major will contribute to the pipeline of success that local tribes are building in Southern California. At CSUSM, we are committed to building a healthier and more vibrant community by connecting university knowledge with community knowledge in mutually beneficial ways. In all of our work, we emphasize university-community partnerships that are collaborative, participatory, empowering, systemic, and transformative.
  13. Cal State Fullerton is a leading campus of the CSU, serving as an intellectual and cultural center for Southern California and the driver of workforce and economic development. We are an emerging national model for supporting student success through innovative high-impact educational and co-curricular experiences, including faculty-student collaborative research. It is also designed to help students develop broadly applicable skills such as critical thinking and writing, enhance their capacity for lifelong learning, and strengthen their ability to contribute effectively within our culturally diverse society. The General Education Program provides a common intellectual experience for all students regardless of their primary. It enhances their awareness of themselves in a complex universe, drawing upon multiple points of view and preparing them for full participation in professional and civic life. Through the thoughtful completion of the General Education Program, students will acquire knowledge of diverse disciplinary perspectives, develop skills for analyzing new situations and problems, and gain self-awareness and an understanding of their role in both local and global communities. Launched in 2005, Liberal Education and America's Promise (LEAP) is a national public advocacy and campus action initiative. LEAP champions the importance of a liberal education—for individual students and a nation dependent on economic creativity and democratic vitality. LEAP responds to contemporary demands for more college-educated workers and more engaged and informed citizens. Today, and in the years to come, college graduates need higher levels of learning and knowledge and strong intellectual and practical skills to navigate this more demanding environment successfully and responsibly. Through LEAP, hundreds of campuses are making far-reaching educational changes to help all their students—whatever their chosen field of study—acquire the broad knowledge, higher-order capacities, and real-world experience they need to thrive economically globally engaged democracy. LEAP leaders also work to engage the public with core questions about what matters in college and connect employers and educators as they build new partnerships and make a case for the importance of liberal education in a global economy and our diverse democracy. Cal State Fullerton has more than 37,000 students and approximately 1,800 full- and part-time faculty members. The University offers 107-degree programs in eight colleges. Accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, CSUF is fourth in the nation for the number of bachelor's degrees awarded to minority students and first in California for the number of bachelor's degrees awarded to Hispanics. In 1957, Cal State Fullerton became the 12th state college in California to be authorized by the Legislature as a degree-granting institution. The following year, a site was designated for the campus to be established in northeast Fullerton. The property was purchased in 1959. This is the same year that Dr. William B. Langsforf was appointed as the school's founding president. Today, Cal State Fullerton is a comprehensive, regional university with a main campus that consists of 29 permanent buildings, a picturesque 26-acre Arboretum, and student residence halls. 14. As you consider which law school offers you the right mix of programs and experiences, thank you for considering California Western School of Law. We pride ourselves on welcoming students who share our view of the law as a tool to help solve societal problems, who share our commitment to community engagement - through such programs as the California Innocence Project and Community Law Project - and who will benefit from our focus on the development of both textbook knowledge and practical skills. At California Western, your journey to practice begins in the first year, through the traditional core classes that build a strong foundation upon which you build skill and experience. Our nationally-recognized STEPPS class adds a full year of the first-hand experience as you join your peers in a "mock law firm" environment, working through the ethical and practical requirements many students must face after they begin their careers. Third-year internships - working side-by-side with attorneys and professionals in San Diego and worldwide - and pro bono works further develop new attorneys' skills to build successful careers. San Diego's oldest law school offers the right climate for a career in the law, and I do not just mean the year-round temperate weather or access to abundant recreational and cultural offerings. Our academic programs, diverse student body, and engagement with high-quality faculty and staff provide a range of individual approaches to the profession that together reflect our broad view of the law. California Western School of Law is committed to using the law to solve human and societal problems. Our mission is to train ethical, competent, and compassionate lawyers, representing our diverse society, who can use the law effectively and creatively. We recognize that, in the 21st century, the rapid rate of change will accelerate and create further problems. We also recognize the pervasive perception, and partial reality, that the legal system and lawyers have helped create, rather than solve, the problems our evolving society confronts. While continuing to graduate lawyers well-equipped to practice law, we also seek to graduate creative problem solvers committed to improving our legal system and society. Our graduates will not merely react to problems. However, they will anticipate them and be ready to devise innovative and responsible solutions to serve the needs of their clients and the broader community. Further, by contributing to legal scholarship, participating in public deliberations about legal matters, and serving as a community legal education resource, California Western School of Law will make significant, measurable contributions to the solution of problems in our community, our society, and our world. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to providing the resources you need to succeed in law school and practice. Through these services and more, we help you develop and support your career and professional goals while providing a supportive and comfortable learning environment. The Clinical Internship Program is an essential component of the curriculum at California Western School of Law. The Program builds upon the healthy practice foundation students receive in the second year STEPPS Program. The 13-week Program allows third-year students to earn academic credit for legal work in not-for-profit agencies, private law offices, courts, corporations, or government agencies. Students participate in legal work in these settings and acquire useful insights and experiences toward building their careers. The Program develops and promotes confidence, problem-solving skills, and professionalism that lead to becoming practice-ready attorneys. Most students would not be able to afford law school without some form of financial assistance. The financial aid awarded to California Western students may consist of scholarships, federal and private loans, work-study programs, and veterans' benefits. Our Admissions and Financial Aid staff can help you understand the many scholarships, loans, and work-study options available to help you pay for law school. Any established attorney knows that preparation is crucial to success. At California Western, that preparation starts before your first classes begin. Learn what you need to know before you apply to law school. Once you've enrolled, get a head start on your 1L classes through our Summer Enrichment program. In conjunction with U.C. San Diego and San Diego State University, our A.I.M. for Law Program helps those thinking about law school prepare for the LSAT and meet classmates on a similar journey. The Summer Enrichment Program is a six-week law school class experience that introduces you to a law student's tasks and gives you a better understanding of what law school entails. You will become acquainted with American law's basic structure and the American legal system in such class topics as harmful words, death, birth, property, and freedom and regulation in the market. 15. Cal State Monterey Bay provides over 7,500 students an extraordinary opportunity to learn on a residential campus just one mile from the beautiful Monterey Bay shores. Our diverse student body receives personal attention in small classes while pursuing degrees in 25 undergraduate and seven graduate majors. Our mission is to build a multicultural learning community founded on academic excellence from which all partners in the educational process emerge prepared to contribute productively, responsibly, and ethically to California and the global community. Founded in 1994 on the former site of Fort Ord by educators and community leaders, Cal State Monterey Bay faculty and staff build on that legacy as we explore innovative ways to meet the needs of a new generation of students while simultaneously powering the Monterey County economy. While we serve students from California's entire state, 38 percent of our undergraduates come from Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz counties. We pride ourselves on making higher education accessible to traditionally underserved and low-income populations. Seventy-two percent of our students receive some form of financial aid. Fifty-three percent of our students are among the first generation of their family to go to college. Moreover, with 52 percent of our students living on campus, we are among the most residential universities in the CSU. On September 4, 1995, President Bill Clinton joined with local, state, and federal officials at the inauguration of this campus, the 21st in the Cal State University system. Today, Cal State Monterey Bay has made a remarkably successful transition from the former Fort Ord into a thriving university. Last fall, we opened the doors to the largest group of first-time freshmen in our history, as our overall enrollment grew to more than 7,500 students. As our university has grown, we have maintained the close-knit campus culture prized by our students and our graduates since its founding. Students are drawn here by our outstanding academic programs, many of which are closely tied to regional needs and the Central Coast's unique geography. Our campus is adjacent to one of the world's most productive agricultural regions and some of its most attractive tourist destinations. The Pacific Ocean at our back door provides abundant recreational opportunities, as well as a site for innovative research that reflects our campus's focus on environmental stewardship and sustainability. Inspired by our founding Vision, innovators have always found a home here at Cal State Monterey Bay. In fact, by at least one measure, CSUMB is the state's most innovative campus. When Gov. Jerry Brown established a $50 million program to reward higher education innovation this year, 52 colleges and universities from across the state applied. Two CSUMB projects – our CSIT-in-3 collaboration with Hartnell College and our Math Huge developmental program – won awards, receiving a total of $8 million, more than any other campus. The campus has also established an unmatched record in service-learning and community outreach. Cal State Monterey Bay is a two-time winner of the President's Award for Higher Education Community Service and has been named to the Community Service Honor Roll in the years it has not received the top honor. That makes us the most decorated university for service learning in the nation. California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) is envisioned as a comprehensive state university that values service through high-quality education. The campus will be distinctive in serving California's diverse people, especially the working class and historically undereducated and low-income populations. It will feature an enriched living and learning environment and year-round operation. The identity of the university will be framed by substantive commitment to multilingual, multicultural, gender-equitable learning. The university will be a collaborative, intellectual community distinguished by partnerships with existing public and private institutions. These cooperative agreements enable students, faculty, and staff to cross institutional boundaries for innovative instruction, broadly defined scholarly and creative activity, and coordinated community service. The university will invest in preparation for the future through the integrated and experimental use of technologies as resources to people, catalysts for learning, and providers of increased access and enriched quality learning. The curriculum of CSUMB will be student and society centered and of sufficient breadth and depth to meet statewide and regional needs, specifically those involving both inner-city and isolated rural populations, and needs relevant to communities in the immediate Tri-County region (Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito). The programs of instruction will strive for distinction, building on regional assets in developing specialty clusters in such areas as the sciences (marine, atmospheric, and environmental), visual and performing arts, and related humanities languages, cultures, and international studies education business studies of human behavior, information, and communication, within broad curricular areas and professional study. The university will develop a culture of innovation in its overall conceptual design and organization and will utilize new and varied pedagogical and instructional approaches, including distance learning. Institutional programs will value and cultivate creative and productive talents of students, faculty, and staff, seek ways to contribute to the economy of the state, the well-being of our communities, and the quality of life and development of its students, faculty, and service areas.

The U.S. Department of Education designates our University as both a Hispanic-Serving Institution and an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution. Fresno State has roots dating back to 1911 when the Fresno State Normal School's doors opened to 150 hopeful students. Today, the student population is more than 25,000, and the University has garnered national attention for its rise in college rankings. With majors in 66 bachelor's, 44 master's, and three doctoral subject areas, Fresno State has come a long way from its modest beginning. They are prominent leaders, innovators, and critical thinkers in every industry, transforming our region and communities worldwide. Nestled in the center of California, in one of the richest agricultural valleys on the planet and one of the most culturally-diverse regions in the country, Fresno State is a place where students grow from high-impact practices. This is a fertile place to equip and empower our students for success boldly. Moreover, our students' success – the next generation of leaders in our region and beyond – is of utmost importance. Our community ties are strong because we believe this region can thrive when the community and University work as one. That is why we show our commitment to the community by providing millions of hours of service, partnering with local organizations, and spreading Fresno State pride across the Valley. We know the Bulldog spirit is infectious. University Advancement works with alumni, friends, and our community to broaden the resources available to Fresno State, thereby strengthening higher education in the Central Valley and elevating our region. University Development works to match a donor's passion with areas in need of support at Fresno State. Whether investing in student programs, faculty research, or community projects, gifts of all sizes play a crucial role in educating and empowering students for success. Advancement Services manages information to better support engagement and fundraising efforts with alumni, friends, and the community. Fresno State's Diversity in Study Abroad Sponsorship offers funds to Fresno State undergraduate students of limited financial means to pursue academic studies abroad. Qualified students may receive up to the entire program fee for a program from the Division of Continuing and Global Education to cost an eligible study abroad program. The Richard H. Freimuth Memorial Fund and Continuing and Global Education share the commitment to provide financial support to undergraduate students traveling abroad. This experience will make a lasting difference in students' lives by allowing them to discover other cultures, thus expanding their knowledge of the world. Freeman-ASIA (Freeman Awards for Study in Asia) is designed to support U.S-based undergraduates with demonstrated financial need to study overseas in East or Southeast Asia. The program's goal is to increase the number of U.S. citizens and permanent residents with first-hand exposure to and understand Asia and its peoples and cultures.
  18. The school has continued to improve through God's grace. It is now accredited by the BPPE (a division of the California Department of Education), the ABHE (the Association for Biblical Higher Education, an association of theological schools), and TRACS (the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, also an association of Christian schools). Therefore, graduates of Bethesda University can enter any graduate school in the world. We are proud that the University has developed into a great institution similar to other high-quality universities in the U.S. In particular, our school's music department has produced many outstanding musicians. Its graduates have gone on to graduate schools in the U.S. or have returned to Korea and contributed to society in various ways through music. Now is the time when the world requires millennium leaders. Come to Bethesda University with great vision and hope. The school's excellent faculty will help you become a qualified leader in the 21st Century who combines intellect, musical talent, and Christianity with balance. In 1976, Bethesda University was founded on a Christian groundwork derived from Pentecostal Theology to equip future leaders with the professional skills needed to become leaders in world peace and world missions by building churches and Bible institutions worldwide. In the initial years of the 21st Century and into the future, B.U.'s goal is to be a global center for Christian academic training that produces devoted Christian leaders and professionals in the Pentecostal movement and worship God. Bethesda University is a Christ-centered community of higher education which aims to prepare students with the academic knowledge, professional skills, and spiritual values to become servant leaders in a global society. In harmony with the school's mission and institutional goals, Bethesda University expects specific outcomes to be demonstrated in its graduates. These foundational outcomes are enlarged by the specific, measurable objectives articulated in each academic program offered by the institution. The combination of these institutional objectives for each student and each academic program's objectives provides a basis for assessing a student's progress and the institution's effectiveness in fulfilling its mission. Bethesda University offers a Bachelor of Arts in Religion, Music, Early Childhood Education, and Business Administration. There are four concentrations in the B.A. in Religion. A student may choose a concentration in Biblical Studies, Pastoral Ministry, Christian Education, Missions. There are three concentrations in the B.A. in Business Administration. Bethesda University offers four graduate programs: Master of Arts in Biblical Studies, Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Master of Arts in Music, and Master & Business Administration(MBA). Federal financial aid helps students pay for most kinds of education after high school. Federal financial aid includes Federal Pell Grant, Federal SEOG (Supplemental Educational Opportunities Grant), Federal College Work-Study, and Stafford Subsidized Loan. Grants are awarded based on need and income and do not have to be repaid. Stafford Subsidized Loan is also based on need and income, but must be repaid once the recipient graduates or withdraws from the University. However, payments do not have to begin until six months following graduation or withdrawal, during which time no interest is accrued. The federal government sets interest. The recipient of a Stafford loan is responsible for making payments until the loan is fully repaid. Bethesda University offers programs designed to train teachers and directors of preschools, child care centers, and family child care homes. To receive the preschool teacher certificate, students must complete the following courses with an average grade of C or better: EC 101, 102, 103, and 201. Infant and toddler care providers also need to complete EC 320 class. The Preschool director certificate requires completion of the courses for the teaching certificate and EC 202. Just as medical doctors have internships, those preparing to serve God and the Christian community more effectively should have hands-on experience in Christian service. Since Bethesda University is uniquely concerned with preparing God's people to become full-time or lay leaders in Christian ministry, all bachelor level students are required to participate in ministry outside of the classroom experience. B.A. students enroll in six Christian Service classes, each worth 0.5 credits and M.Div. M.A. students enroll in six Christian Service classes, each worth 1.0 credit. Supervision, evaluation, and recommendations will be provided by the Christian Service Director, and in some cases, by a ministry supervisor or mentor. Jesus provided the model of equipping disciples by including practical ministry as a part of the training. This model enables students to practice in their field of study. Ministry experience is a necessary component of developing Christian maturity. This practical training's primary goal is to help students discover their gifts, talents, abilities, and calling from God. This service also allows students to validate or invalidate the concepts they are forming in the classrooms. The input of various Christian leaders who serve as Student Ministry (Christian Service) mentors is also valuable.

A horseless carriage (one of the few) "sped" down mud and brick roads. A pioneer fervor dominated the thinking of progressive civic leaders. Los Angeles, "The City of the Angels," was a bustling city of 319,000 inhabitants. Movies were still in their infancy, still silent. In this milieu, Dr. Charles Cale and his wife, Linnie, committed themselves to disseminate the knowledge of a little known, yet ancient, healing art chiropractic. Dr. Cale sought to formalize the training of chiropractic physicians. By 1911, when modern chiropractic was only 16 years into its history, Dr. Cale applied for and received a charter for Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (LACC). The Cales began the first classes in their home, a nine-month study that included anatomy, chiropractic principles, and technique. The end of the 20th Century brought a significant change to LACC for the past 89 years. The College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CAOM) was added, and the Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) was created to house both LACC and CAOM. This marked a turning point from an institution offering a single program to a multi-program university with plans of offering additional programs in what society has labeled alternative health sciences.
  20. SCI-Arc teaches architects to engage, speculate, and innovate, to take the lead in reimagining the limits of architecture. Our students and faculty critically examine the rich possibilities of the built environment. SCI-Arc asks questions regarding new theoretical constructs and designed realities to constitute possible futures from design and materials to culture and experience. We contribute an imaginative, rigorous, and forward-thinking approach to help shape the architectural profession's end. SCI-Arc is where architects become mad scientists. It is where art, science, and industry converge, and new futures unfold. At SCI-Arc, we forecast the migrations of culture. We stare down complex technologies and command them to do our bidding. We are agile and street smart. Where others drown in the complex flows of urban life, we thrive and choreograph its movements. We are prophets of beauty, broadcasters of ideas, and tellers of stories. We are builders, leaders, and dreamers. SCI-Arc is a world-renowned center of innovation and one of the nation's few independent architecture schools, offering undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs. We are dedicated to educating architects who will imagine and shape the future. The school is located in a quarter-mile long former freight depot in the Arts District of Los Angeles. It is distinguished by its studios' vibrant atmosphere, which provides students with a uniquely inspiring environment in which to study architecture and design. An integral part of the emerging cultural hub of a city with a tradition of architectural experimentation, SCI-Arc is devoted to finding radically new responses to today's world's real needs and aspirations. We offer students a unique experience as they pursue their degrees. Our approximately 500 students and 80 faculty members—most of the latter practicing architects—work together in a fluid, non-hierarchical manner to re-think assumptions, create, explore, and test the limits of architecture. SCI-Arc's undergraduate program focuses on both the discipline and the practice of architecture, offering design excellence and intellectual breadth through a liberal arts education. SCI-Arc's graduate programs encourage an open-ended spirit of inquiry, actively responding to shifts in society, technology, and culture. SCI-Arc EDGE, Center for Advanced Studies in Architecture, offers four postgraduate one-year degree programs and a fellowship, all devoted to investigations of architecture's twenty-first-century frontiers. Every summer, SCI-Arc organizes two independent programs—Making+Meaning and Design Immersion Days—open to anyone interested in the architecture discipline. SCI-Arc students have the opportunity to participate in study abroad and exchange initiatives with other institutes and universities around the world and at SCI-Arc Satellites. The Tokyo Study Abroad Program introduces students to the architectural and cultural vibrancy of Japan's capital city. SCI-Arc's academic education is built on a series of performance criteria and learning objectives. SCI-Arc is distinguished by its vibrant studios that provide students with a uniquely inspiring environment to study architecture. The studio culture, supported by a faculty of working architects, emphasizes professional excellence, unorthodox investigation, and material exploration. Students interested in pursuing a career in architecture should become familiar with the institute's many resources, opportunities, and programs. SCI-Arc's diverse international student body comes from forty-eight different countries. Citizens from other countries are reviewed for admission on the same basis as citizens of the United States of America. In addition to federal student aid, there are state aid programs available. The passage of the California Dream Act of 2011 extended eligibility for certain types of institutional and state support to students who meet AB540 criteria but are without valid immigration status. SCI-Arc and the Office of Financial Aid are highly committed to our Dream Act-eligible students' success and are proud of those who have been selected to join our campus. Scholarships are awarded to entering undergraduate and graduate students and continuing students based on merit and financial need. Since it first opened in 1972, SCI-Arc has been relentlessly expanding and raising its ambitions. Now is not the time to ease off the gas pedal and relax. Instead, now is the time to accelerate. The scope of what SCI-Arc represents and offers to the world should keep multiplying. In our globalized era, design matters never like before, and we can astonish the world by showing it all the different ways in which design can transform it. SCI-Arc is an institute and not a university—that is one of our many unique strengths. We are not constrained by stubborn bureaucracy, and we are not preservationists of traditional forms of knowledge. We hurry into new territories, and we can be both inside and outside of the world. We entangle ourselves in complex ways, and we write our own rules of engagement and research. The ethical questions of architecture are poignant for an institute so dedicated to innovation. It isn't hyperbole to posit that the very existence of architecture as a profession and as a way of thinking and knowing is at stake. Architecture needs its heroes, but more importantly, the world needs architects to take on that position and to conjure images of what the future might become. We experiment and keep taking risks to remake the real.

You will begin to figure out that it is not exaggerating to say that the four years you spend in college will be some of the most exciting, memorable years of your life, and the friends and experiences you have in College will help shape the course of your life. Student Life helps you make those initial connections that will span the entirety of your time at Saint Mary's.
  23. Vanguard University is a private, Christian, comprehensive University of liberal arts and professional studies equipping students for a Spirit-empowered life of Christ-centered leadership and service. Since 2010, the U.S. News & World Report has ranked Vanguard in the top 10 among the best baccalaureate colleges in the west in their rankings of colleges and universities, and The Princeton Review named VU a 2014 "Best in the West" College. Vanguard is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The vision that guides the VUSC community is rooted in the University's heritage as an institution of the Pentecostal tradition, which was birthed out of the Azusa Street Revival in Los Angeles, California turn of the twentieth century. From its inception, the movement generated a multicultural, multiracial, and gender-inclusive community of Spirit-empowered Christian believers committed to peacemaking and reconciliation. With global consciousness, these foremothers and forefathers of a renewed Christian faith carried the good news of the gospel around the world. A strong commitment to cultural diversity, racial reconciliation, and gender equality is a consequence of VUSC being deeply grounded in the faith tradition that brought the University into existence. Moreover, these core values continue to define the institutional vision that pulls the VUSC community toward its mission and educational targets and goals. Within this Christian context of inclusiveness, the University aims to provide a quality educational experience by cultivating the Spirit-empowered life in Christian experience and service, promoting academic excellence that integrates faith and life, and providing professor-mentors a dynamic community environment. It became Southern California Bible College-the first four-year institution of the Assemblies of God. In 1943 the college received recognition by the government for the training of military chaplains. It moved to the present campus in 1950. The name was changed to Southern California College nine years later when major liberal arts majors were added to the curriculum.
