About Me

  1. The University's mission is to educate leaders for a global society healthy in character and judgment, confident in their identity and vocation, and committed to service and justice. Simply put, everyone is welcome here. Our students come from more than 45 countries and 30 different denominations and faith backgrounds. So no one is an outsider. This is a place for everyone. We firmly believe our culture is greatly enhanced when individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences become part of the University family and bring their talents and views to the academy. The 225-acre campus is located midway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, just 20 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean nestled against the hills in Thousand Oaks. Off-site centers are located in Woodland Hills, Westlake Village, Oxnard, and Santa Maria. Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary is located in Berkeley. Cal Lutheran is a member of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities, and Independent Colleges. Its program in Financial Planning has been registered with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. Cal Lutheran is one of 26 colleges and universities affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The University's intercollegiate athletic programs compete in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, NCAA Division III. Cal Lutheran offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs through the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Management, Graduate School of Education, Graduate School of Psychology, and Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary. Thirty-seven majors and 34 minors are offered in the traditional undergraduate program. The Bachelor's Degree for Professionals program offers degrees in seven majors. Graduate programs include doctorates in educational leadership, higher education leadership, clinical psychology and theology, and master's degrees in education, psychology, business, economics, information technology, public policy and administration, divinity, and theological studies. Cal Lutheran's intercollegiate athletic teams compete in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and the NCAA Division III. Men's teams compete in baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and water polo. Women's teams compete in basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and water polo. Junior varsity teams compete in men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, baseball, and women's volleyball. As part of that 500-year-old Lutheran tradition, we believe that understanding our purpose as individuals will help us make our best possible contribution to the world. We encourage students to follow their passion for uncovering their purpose. This prepares them for a life of success in which they always offer their very best to others—family, community, and the world. This is one of the most deeply held values in the Lutheran tradition. Moreover, its importance is evident on campus—our students come from more than 45 countries and embody a wide variety of faiths. At Cal Lutheran, your convictions and beliefs are honored and respected. We also provide you with opportunities to consider and discuss faith and intellect matters in an open and friendly environment. This challenges and strengthens you with new intellectual and theological reflections. We want you to make your own decisions. To tackle the fundamental issues with courage. To choose for yourself whether the information you encounter meets the tests of knowledge and truth. Through your inquiries, you will discover profound connections and meanings. We will offer you a structure with options, freedom with responsibility, and integrity with compassion. This challenging academic environment enables you to grow as an independent, thoughtful, and compassionate individual. We firmly believe our culture is enhanced when individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences become part of the University family and bring their talents and views to the academy. In the classroom and laboratory, we see that learning and research benefit when the University is diverse, and when there is a range of questions and opinions. We have found that problem solving, and planning abilities improve when different administrative offices are presented. In every sector, the University's diverse blend of students, staff, and faculty is a tremendous resource that benefits all. At Cal Lutheran, we are committed to an inclusive learning and work environment that values individual differences and respects each person's dignity. We strive to open our doors to students and employees from all walks of life and to assist them once they arrive. Many of our students are the first in their families to attend college. Their insights add significantly to the overall educational experience. California Lutheran University is a selective, comprehensive institution offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in the liberal arts and sciences and professional fields. Mentored by dedicated and accomplished faculty members, students pursue their passion and discover their purpose as they seek to grow as individuals. California Lutheran College was founded in 1959 on a ranch donated by Richard Pederson, the son of Norwegian immigrants. The college opened its doors to 330 students in September 1961 and held its first Commencement in May 1964. Founded in 1959, California Lutheran University is home to more than 2,963 undergraduate and 1,273 graduate students from more than 45 countries and represent a wide variety of faiths. Our dedicated, accomplished faculty works with small classes of open-minded students—about ideas, people, and faith—and are seeking to grow as individuals. Both in the classroom and outside of it, everyone at Cal Lutheran is committed to helping each student pursue their passions to discover their purpose, and follow that purpose to transform their community—and the world.
  2. PLU seeks to educate students for lives of thoughtful inquiry, service, leadership, and care— for other people, for their communities, and the Earth. Pacific Lutheran University purposefully integrates the liberal arts, professional studies, and civic engagement in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. With distinctive international programs and close student-faculty research opportunities, PLU helps its 3,300 students from all faiths and backgrounds discern their life's vocation through coursework, mentorship, and internships at world-class Puget Sound-area businesses and institutions. Founded in 1890 by Norwegian immigrants, PLU continues the distinctive tradition of Lutheran higher education through its commitment to the advancement of knowledge, thoughtful inquiry and questioning, the preparation of citizens in service to the world, and its ongoing reform. Located in the Parkland neighborhood of Tacoma, Washington, PLU is set in a region that offers vast opportunities for outdoor recreation, culture, and sports. The university offers 44 majors and 54 minors and graduate and professional programs in business administration, creative writing, education, finance, marketing research, marriage and family therapy, and nursing. To support students and faculty as they explore life's big questions and engage in fulfilling and meaningful work, the university established the Wild Hope Center for Vocation. A distinctively hopeful exploration, the search for a vocation that faculty and students undertake together endures even in the face of the untamed and unpredictable nature of the world in which we live. PLU purposefully integrates professional studies with the liberal arts for a comprehensive education to successfully prepare students for "lives of thoughtful inquiry, service, leadership, and care." We invite you to look through the majors we offer. It is not unusual for PLU students to double major, and in most cases, students can minor in any discipline that offers a major. Many international students at PLU qualify for a merit-based scholarship. However, in general, students should expect to pay at least a half or more of the annual tuition fee and the entire living cost and other miscellaneous expenses on their own through individual, family, and government sources. Currently, PLU offers no need-based financial aid to international students. A small number of endowed scholarships might become available in some years for an amount not exceeding $3,000 for students who meet specific criteria. Pacific Lutheran University challenges students to succeed to the best of their ability academically, supports them to reach their academic and personal goals, and prepares them for a lifetime of success, both in their careers and in service to others. The mission of the Division of Student Life is "to promote the holistic development of students and steward a dynamic campus community. We engage students in purposeful experiential learning that challenges them to make a difference in the world as they care for themselves and others, and positively impact the diverse communities in which they live." The Division of Student Life works with partners across campus to provide programs and services that advance students' development and well-being. We care about students' holistic development in mind, body, and spirit and cultivate a campus climate that strives to be inclusive and supportive and models respect for every individual. The people of Student Life are knowledgeable, friendly, and ready to serve. We care about your opinions, values, perspective, voice, and interactions with others. We help you live as active and engaged citizens of campus, their communities, and the world. Pacific Lutheran University is committed to a deep engagement with people, cultures, ideas, and the environment. Student Life provides opportunities for experiential learning, leadership, and service programs that support students physically, emotionally, ethically, and intellectually and programs that are just for fun. Increasingly, these programs are offered through faculty-student life collaboration. The university's mission is to "educate students for lives of thoughtful inquiry, service, leadership, and care – for other people, for their communities, and the earth." PLU 2020 uplifts the expectation that PLU will provide graduates who will give society the kinds of leaders and citizens it needs. PLU co-curricular programs promote deep engagement with people, cultures, ideas, and the environment, a rich array of opportunities to inquire into the human condition and the natural world, opportunities for experiential learning, leadership and service, programs that support students physically, emotionally, ethically and intellectually. These programs also promote the university's Integrative Learning Objectives and educate the whole person – body, mind, and spirit. In addition to several academically based co-curricular programs, many departments sponsor co-curricular education programs. Over 80 student clubs and organizations also contribute to out-of-classroom learning on campus. As a university of the first rank, Pacific Lutheran University seeks to maximize the achievement of its mission and become an internationally renowned model of the New American University, purposefully integrating the liberal arts, professional studies, and civic engagement.
  3. Trinity Lutheran College was founded in 1944 as the Lutheran Bible Institute of Seattle (LBIS). A branch of the Minneapolis-based Lutheran Bible Institute (founded in 1919), the college was linked to a movement within Bible-teaching institutions that sought a systematic, in-depth study of the Scriptures laypersons in the historic Reformation tradition. The first LBIS campus was located in downtown Seattle, though it soon moved to the Greenwood area of north Seattle. The college initially offered programs in biblical studies, theology, and missions, later adding Christian education and youth ministry. In 1979, LBIS relocated to the Providence Heights area of Issaquah, a 39-acre wooded campus formerly owned by the Sisters of Providence. The college became accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities in 1982. The name changed to Trinity Lutheran College in 1998 to better reflect its status as an accredited degree-granting institution. The college added programs in early childhood education and music and worship in 2001, and more recently, has added majors in business management, communications, psychology, theology, and graphic design. In 2008, Trinity moved its campus from Issaquah to downtown Everett, remodeling the former Port Gardner building. The current campus includes the Campus Center, an adjacent parking garage, and two nearby student apartment buildings. Today, Trinity offers bachelor’s degrees in eleven majors and 15 minors, as well as a two-year Associate of Biblical Studies, one-year Certificates in Professional Studies, and a one-year Certificate in Biblical Studies. Trinity maintains its distinctiveness as a biblically-centered institution by requiring all bachelor’s students to complete the Trinity Crux Curriculum, which includes biblical studies, spiritual formation, and service-learning.Trinity graduates serve as respected leaders in churches, businesses, government, and nonprofit organizations. The college continues to pursue ways to educate students as faithful and ethical leaders within their fields.
  4. The Evangelische Hochschule Nürnberg (EVHN) - University of Applied Sciences is a nationally recognised centre of university education for religious education, social education and care-oriented careers in the church, social ministries and the wider society. Education is based on the Christian concept of man. Therefore, aside from the scientific foundation of the lessons, research, further and continuing education, there are additional topics on offer – all types of spiritual, personality-building and general education. In addition to their scientific qualification and training, students are encouraged to reflect on their own person and ethical questions in one’s profession and in society. The manageable size of approximately 1,300 students and small study groups allows for a personal cooperation between lecturers and students. As a state-approved university of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria, the EVHN cooperates with reputable practice institutions and other universities at home and abroad. In the Masters course “Social Management” (M.S.M.) staff from welfare institutions (both public and private) are offered to qualify for managerial and administration functions. The Masters course “Adult Education” (M.A.) qualifies for managerial functions in adult education/further education, for an independent employment e.g. as a lecturer, trainer or for cooperation in educational counselling and human resources development. Both Masters courses were reaccredited in 2010.
  5. At Calvary Lutheran Primary School, each student is viewed as a unique person created by God. He made them and loved them and provides each of them with dignity and worth. We acknowledge uniqueness and strengths and encourage students to strive for their personal best and take responsibility for their learning journey while growing in the assurance of their God-given worth and purpose. We strive to be a safe, inclusive, and supportive community that develops positive relationships based on mutual trust, respect, and honesty. Calvary is a small school with big ideas and high expectations! Our School is a stand-alone primary school incorporating Kindergarten and Outside School, Hours Care facilities on-site, and is conveniently located in the southern suburb of Morphett Vale. Together with parents and caregivers, we strive to pursue excellence in learning for each child while nurturing them in the Christian faith. We aim to provide for the spiritual, intellectual, cultural, and physical development of our students in a safe, nurturing, and caring environment providing opportunities for them to REACH for success. We strive to create learning environments that emphasize key competencies, stimulate thinking skills, and utilize technology to create challenging, motivating, and enjoyable learning experiences for all students in our care. Calvary Lutheran Primary School was established in 1983 as an initiative of the Calvary Lutheran Congregation of Morphett Vale in recognition of the need for Christian education in the southern region. Initial enrolments comprised of 36 students and three teaching staff, all in just two transportable buildings purchased second hand. In 1988, the current library, multipurpose room, toilets, and five classrooms were built. This was followed by replacing the temporary staffroom with a fully-functional administration/staffroom building. In 1992 Calvary had grown to a single streamed Reception to Year 7 School with 200 students. During 2010, Calvary established its first Digital Technologies suite consisting of 30 Mac computers and a server room combined with computer and printer facilities in all classrooms and the library. The School’s computing ability grew with the construction of the second ICT suite due to the Federal Government’s BER scheme. Calvary currently has moved to a portable and connected model for Digital Technologies with the introduction of a 1:2 iPad program and the introduction of Mac laptops for student use. Since 2010 the School has continued to grow and in 2015 undertook a building project to develop a Junior Primary Learning Community. This was partly funded by the Commonwealth Government through the Block Grant Authority and has provided the School with state of the art, flexible learning spaces for our youngest learners. Calvary currently has 11 classes from Foundation to Year 7 and continues to grow in size while maintaining strong parent and community support. Calvary Lutheran Primary School is owned, governed, and controlled by Calvary Lutheran Congregation, Morphett Vale. Our School is an agency of one congregation. The School Council acts on the congregation’s behalf, holding two meetings per term. The School derives its financial support from tuition fees from parents, Commonwealth and State Government funding, and general donations. Future growth and development of the School are directed through implementing the strategic plan, which is developed as a co-operative between parents, caregivers, staff, and the school council. As the plan sees the fulfillment of its objectives, it is reviewed and reshaped to give the school community a clear and defined direction. Guidance and direction for the Schools’ staff, administration, and council are provided through its statements, aims, and objectives. These have been developed since the inception of the School and have become a stable and mature foundation. As part of our funding agreement with the Australian Government, we are required to ensure that specific “School Performance Information” is publicly available to the school community. This information is provided to the school community in other forms, such as newsletters, the website throughout the year, and the Annual Principal’s Report. The following downloadable document is a consolidated version of this information under the headings specified by the Australian Government. The information relates to the 2018 school year. 7. Bethany is a growing, vibrant school community. We have experienced a tremendous amount of change over the school's life, and the journey that we have traveled has been immense. The challenges that we had faced since 1982 when the school started have served to refine our understanding of what we want our school to be and to do for our students. Bethany school staff members are dedicated to sharing their passion for learning with the students. This is done in a way that is grounded in developing them as people. We want to help children with values and standards formation that will carry them through life. We want our children to be great people; we can all be proud to know. Our teachers are Christian and have completed studies in Christian Education. They are all accredited as Lutheran teachers. They are committed to providing a quality Christian education to help children develop an enjoyment of learning and growing in maturity—teachers design units of work that challenge students within the context of building strong relationships. Through the Christian Studies Program and the Behavioural Management/Restorative Practices Program, children are taught the value of developing positive ways of working together. Children today need to have excellent skills in the core learning areas and be ready for a wide variety of opportunities and challenges the changing world will bring. Technology is one of the many tools which students use in their learning to find, construct, and apply knowledge purposefully. As you step into our school through our website, we hope you can get a glimpse of our school and the school community's unique nature. It is an exciting, happy learning community that is warm and supportive while maintaining high academic achievement standards, yet accepting the individual needs of students. Mission Statement Centred on Christ, providing quality education, empowering students to serve and achieve. Vision Statement Be acknowledged as an innovator of Christian primary education, with vibrant community partnerships. At Bethany, we believe that the family is essential, and we want to work closely with you. Working as a team and supporting one other student are assisted in achieving their best in both their work and the way that they conduct themselves. At Bethany, we place great importance on student behavior. Through their conduct, students tell us who they are, and they are assisted to see the role that they play in gaining the friendship and respect of others. Bethany Lutheran Primary School offers an educational experience in a smaller school setting..... a community where your child is KNOWN, VALUED, and NURTURED to succeed. The school functions under the requirements for registration as set down by the Queensland Department of Education but maintains the right to teach the Curriculum from a Christian perspective. At Bethany, we use the Australian Curriculum, adapting it to meet our aims and the needs of the children. Teachers use a wide range of teaching materials and resources in preparing the units of study undertaken by the children. The staff support students in their growth and development as a whole person, in laying a strong foundation for lifelong skills in all spheres of life. While the Curriculum drives learning, ICT, and skills in applying strategies, knowledge, and values are taught to assist students in negotiating their way forward in the working and social world of the future. We are conscious of the need to prepare our children to attend a wide variety of secondary schools, both state and independent. The teaching staff, working together, plan the program with care, aiming to bring each child to the highest level of which he or she is capable. We aim to assist each child in achieving a high level of literacy, numeracy, and communication abilities while providing a wide variety of experience throughout all areas of the Curriculum. Through this Curriculum, students can evaluate the values and standards of the society around them and choose the values that they adopt for living with others. Our children are receiving a vast array of messages from the TV and the media, which should not be accepted as their moral values. Real-life issues are managed through our spiritual understandings. Our young people need to be connected to values that build a positive community. These areas are vital to the development of learning in all other areas. Our students need to be literate in so many ways today. Students need to develop skills in finding, evaluating, and processing information. They need to work with others, share understanding, debate them, and use skills and processes to solve problems. Our students, more than ever, need to be well-rounded people with high-level thinking skills. A narrow, purely academic curriculum will not serve children well in the future they are facing. 8. Bethania Lutheran School is a Christ-centred community supporting the educational journey by providing dynamic, innovative teaching and learning, within a nurturing environment. We offer an excellent all-around education for your child, but we also offer a community. A real community where families are prominent and working together is central to all that we do. There is an old saying, ‘it takes a village to raise a child.’ We believe it takes a community to educate one! Research shows that families and schools working together in the partnership are among the most effective ways for your child to achieve individual success. However, that is not all there is to the community. There is that feeling of belonging, connectedness, and the feeling that I am special. As a school, we work hard at helping students and families connect to their class, their teachers, and the school community. Belonging to a real community helps students feel safe enough to discover the unique person God created them to be and helps parents play an essential part in their child’s education. Our active P and F also strive to connect families through fun ‘friend-raising’ activities in classes and across the school. This beautiful Bethania community grows very much out of our Christian beliefs. Our school also understands that parents in our community work hard and make sacrifices to send their children to an independent Christian school such as ours. Our low, inclusive tuition fees reflect this. To further help our families, we also offer discounts for on-time payment of fees and sibling discounts. While a German school had been operating in the area since the early 1900s, the Bethania Lutheran School was opened in January 1976 with one teacher and eighteen pupils in Years 1 to 3. The school was officially opened in the church hall with the first teacher installed, Mrs. Betty Schultz. Conditions in the early history of the school were severe. By 1977 the school was still operating in the church hall with 45 students and two teachers. The first building erected on the school property, teacher accommodation, was opened in October 1977. In May 1978, the first school building was dedicated and opened, and the second school building opened in February 1979. By this time, the pupils numbered 85. The school blossomed over the years and now has over 12 buildings and 200 students in a leafy and tranquil setting. While there is a significant focus on teaching and learning, each school strives to offer far more than that. When a family joins a Lutheran school, they become part of a community that strives to be a secure place that offers warm, caring relationships and a safe environment. A Lutheran school sees each student as being unique with their particular gifts and needs. The approach is not to ask what students and their families can do for the school, but what the school can do for them. Lutheran schools have developed a unique vision that is based on the teachings of the Bible. As a Christian learning community, each school aspires to provide a culture and ethos permeated by the core values of love, justice, compassion, forgiveness, service, humility, courage, hope, quality and appreciation. Bethania Lutheran School is a Christ-centered community supporting the educational journey by providing dynamic, innovative teaching and learning within a nurturing environment. We believe that every student is a unique individual created by God with their special gifts, strengths, and needs. In order for students to build their positive image of themselves as learners and contributors to their communities, they are provided with relevant, purposeful, and appropriate learning experiences. These learning experiences are structured and presented in various ways, with opportunities for both success and personal challenge. Students are encouraged to take ownership of and contribute directly to the learning experience. Achievement and success are things we strive toward for all of our students, irrespective of the point at which they have begun their educational journeys. Success is hard-fought and won, and we celebrate personal achievements daily. Our students are supported by a vast array of learning enrichment approaches, including one-on-one and small group tutoring, in-class support, reading rescue, individualized programs, outside therapy services, and collaborative teaching support. We aim to encourage all children to achieve their personal best through support and extension, meeting each child where they are and growing their ability through individualized programs. It is common to walk into the staffroom and hear a teacher gushing joyously about the latest DRA result or maths achievement of one of the students that they have been working with. The reward of knowing that you have made a significant difference to a child cannot be measured. The Learning Enrichment team consists of three specialist teachers, six teacher aides, and a host of volunteers. Our volunteers come from all walks of life. We have parents, congregational members, friends from the local retirement facilities, and even a couple of university students with spare time on their hands. When you consider that we are only a small school of approximately 260 students, we are blessed to have so many beautiful people supporting our students and teachers. The African proverb ‘It takes a village to raise a child’ is never more accurate than in a place like our school. Parents, teachers, support staff, and volunteers join together to shape the hearts, heads, and lives of an exceptional group of children. View full school

  11. Hillcrest started in 1918, birthed out of a youth revival movement. Calls from churches around the nation inspired the Lutheran Brethren Church to offer a high school option to match their Bible School program. It is with this historical background that we are entering a new century incorporating Classical Christian Education. By the time our students graduate, they will be leaving Hillcrest with so much more than just a diploma. Starting at a new school can be intimidating. We work hard to make your school transition smooth and comfortable at Hillcrest. Nearly half of our student body is new each year. Our Danielsen program, a partnership with the Danielsen School in Bergen, Norway, brings 25+ students each year. In addition to that, Hillcrest enrolls 60 to 70 new students each year. That means you are not the only one who is new. To help students assimilate and make friends, we organize a Welcome Week. The week is devoted to orientation. There are athletic practices, school orientation meetings, and faith-forming services and teachings that help students understand what school is like at Hillcrest. Every student, new or returning, participates in Welcome Week. This starts the entire student body together as we begin the school year. The culture at Hillcrest is warm and inviting, with returning students excited to meet and befriend new students. The teachers are known for their connection with students, and we conduct surveys of our student body to ensure that our students feel cared for and encouraged in their classes. The student life and classrooms at Hillcrest are fun, and you will find it easy to learn and grow in your academic knowledge, relationship with Jesus Christ, and connect with your fellow students inside our program. Our philosophy drives us to help you make friends and build strong mentorship connections. We believe that if you feel cared for, you will be more open to the maturing and growing opportunities that await you at Hillcrest. Hillcrest holds a long and storied tradition: Alumni love Hillcrest. This is partly because students develop and fortify a Biblically-based view of the world that stands true outside the doors of Hillcrest. Hillcrest instructs students to love God's Word, have a passion for the world God created, and be active in His Kingdom. Academic excellence is an expression of worship. As students build an understanding of God's love for them, they are inspired to understand God deeper in their academic pursuits. By building a comprehensive Biblically-based view of Hillcrest's world, Students see that right living involves Biblically-based thinking. It is our prayer that our 18-year-old graduates will not merely attend college, but that they will impact their university with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. At Hillcrest, there is a healthy practice of staying in contact with graduates in genuine concern for the spiritual, academic, and social life. Students and staff often write letters of encouragement to recent graduates, and Hillcrest grads visit teachers and staff regularly. In this community, Hillcrest students build muscles to manage life. They share rooms with students from other cultures, learning how to communicate in the face of conflict and cultural differences. These cultures spill over in the classroom. A simple example is that Hillcrest students come from countries that support communism, socialism, capitalism, and tribal ideologies. The Hillcrest classroom holds varied perspectives. Students learn to use logic and to communicate in love inside the classroom setting. The Bible governs the living and learning environments at Hillcrest. Students are taught that every person is made in the image of God and holds special rights. They are also taught that ideas have consequences that impact image-bearers. Ideas are handled with logic, while students are treated with love and support befitting their image that rests in God's character and not the content of an idea or argument. Inside this learning environment, students build muscles that strengthen confidence and equip them for life. Students' sense of self is reinforced in the image of God, where they study and are taught that their value was set in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Inside this framework, Hillcrest students report that their first years of college are completed with confidence, facing difficulties but having the ability to handle the obstacles.
  12. California Lutheran High School is accredited by WASC, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. WASC is one of six regional associations in the United States that accredit both public and private schools, colleges, and universities. This means that CLHS meets or exceeds every education standard set by the state of California. Our education program is constantly being reviewed to ensure that CLHS offers the highest quality education. Our curriculum is also accepted by the University of California—the most discriminating public institution in California. Empowered by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, California Lutheran High School exists to educate, encourage, and equip young men and women for life and eternity. In the pursuit of our mission, California Lutheran High School will: Promote spiritual growth and Christian service among all members of the campus family, Provide an exceptional faith-based, college-prep educational program, Preserve a distinctively Christian school culture, Prepare lifelong disciples of Christ who serve their future families, churches, and communities with their God-given gifts, Prompt the WELS/ELS students to consider the noble goal of the full-time teaching and preaching ministries, Propound opportunities for Christian service, athletic competition, and the arts through which students can develop varied interests, and Pilot students through a comprehensive program to equip them for Christian leadership in their future families, churches, and careers. California Lutheran High School will serve a growing multi-national student body with Christ-centered classical education built upon our common Lutheran confession of faith. Can you imagine the front of our Education Center without its large stained-glass cross? In its original design, the cross was not there at all. The planning process of the building brought about quite a few changes from the original design. After some discussion at a meeting it was decided that, even though the additional expense would be significant, the cross was important. Sharing God's Word with hundreds of students. Working with families and congregations to mold them into Christian leaders in their homes, their congregations, and their workplaces have always been our mission. What's so important about an oddly shaped window? Quite simply, without any words at all, it tells what we're all about. For our entire history, our school has been...ALL...about the Cross. Many things have, and will continue to change at California Lutheran High School. We will, however, always be...All About the Cross.

    Japan Lutheran College

This school's mission is to train persons who "serve God and the world in the spirit of Christ" through "instruction which values each individual." Christianity, the founding spirit that is JLC's legacy, does not only appear in lectures but is part of all campus life. Much can be learned and gained from the daily interactions with faculty, staff, and other students. Japan Lutheran College has a Campus Christian Center, where the Chaplain (pastor) provides leadership for all the worship-related activities and programs on campus. The Chaplain is served by a Chaplain's Assistant and other helpers and student volunteers who make up the Worship Committee. There are chapel services every class day. While worship is not compulsory, it does provide a place where faculty and students can come together as one, heard the Word of God, and join in prayer. Through the messages presented here, there are opportunities to see another side of those people we interact with daily. The basis of our "Lutheraness"--as it were-of praising God and fostering a love for our fellow humans is found in this Christian instruction. We hope that the years of study at JLC will result in knowledge and skills and be a time that profoundly affects each of us as individuals. Through its instruction of "valuing every person," Japan Lutheran College develops the human resources that "value every person," and so realizes the desire of students to "serve by helping someone." The implementation in 2014 of a 5-course organization in Social Work, Community Development, Child and Family Studies, Clinical Psychology, and Christian Studies clarifies the support for career formation, with academic models for registering and earning professional qualifications. From the moment students enter, Japan Lutheran College carries out interviews and guidance for future employment or further academic study. Many students sitting for an entrance exam have only a vague idea of their future careers. At Japan Lutheran College, students select their specific course of study after progressing to their second year. Following their college entrance, they have an orientation for each course, which clarifies for them which is most suitable, answers to their dreams for the future, and gives a concrete plan for pursuing academic goals. They then choose their course. Students can study in fields besides their course, thus enhancing their learning and acquiring certification. Japan Lutheran College offers an interdisciplinary curriculum for study as the Faculty of Integrated Human Studies, Program in Social Work and Clinical Psychology comprises three fields of studies: Social Work, Clinical Psychology, and Christian Studies. Thus, both psychology and social work studies are based on the Christian perspective of humanity. Students entering the college are trained to be professionals with integrated, holistic approaches for providing care. The goals of the Center's Program are to contribute to the gospel's proclamation through research, instruction, and practical fieldwork that will serve the church and society. All these activities are based on the Christian faith, respecting all people's spiritual needs from a wholistic stance and centered on support for humans to find healing and personal development. The Dale Pastoral Center seeks to contribute to society as a whole by understanding the Christian faith and all humanity, extending its services to the Lutheran Church and all churches in ecumenical fellowship. The resources of the Center are available not only for church workers but for all members. The program emphasizes cooperation among all to carry out its activities through inclusiveness and dialog.
  19. This program leads the children to think about what they stand for about Christian values, life and community issues, and making positive choices. Our senior students have an opportunity to take part in the Young Leaders' Day in the city as a highlight of their learning. Motivational speakers and excellent staff leadership also support the 'in school' program. Each year 7 student has a staff member other than their teacher as a personal mentor. School Captains and leadership teams offer leadership and support to other students. One vehicle for this is the Student Representative Council where environmental officers and safety officers from each class share their ideas. Captains lead these meetings, prepare regular newsletter items and encourage positive action in the school and community. We aim to be the school of choice in our local community for those seeking an excellent Christian education for their children in a relationship-focused environment.
  20. Immanuel Lutheran College is a Prep to Year 12 co-educational school with an onsite Early Learning Centre. Established in 1979, the College is the longest-serving independent school on the Sunshine Coast and has forged a reputation for excellence that goes well beyond the academic achievements of its students. At Immanuel, we take equal pride in encouraging students' academic, cultural, social, physical, spiritual, and pastoral development. Situated on 23 picturesque hectares and surrounded by rainforest, innovation is at the core of our programs, seamlessly blending classroom, mobile and online experiences throughout the learning journey. I am often asked what sets Immanuel students apart. I believe it focuses on the individual harnessing their strengths and developing personalized pathways and programs of learning. While encouraging an individualized approach to learning, we also embrace events such as the Immanuel Arts Festival, Fruehlingsfest, and Voices on the Coast Literature Festival to bring the wider community together. From 2018, a new Environmental Centre, the first of its kind for a school on the Sunshine Coast, will offer students from many schools the opportunity to work in ''living'' classrooms under teacher's teachers'' guidance, including those from our local university. An integral part of our approach to developing the whole person is the unique outdoor education program at our second campus, Mt Binga. Students spend time at Binga across various year levels, participating in a program that promotes teamwork and independent thinkers who have the confidence to take their place in the world and develop the essential values of respect, care, trust, and empathy. Our vision is that Immanuel graduates will be identified by their confidence, optimism, and respect for healthy relationships. They will be highly competent and capable of making a positive contribution to their country and the world. They will be well-grounded with a sense of who they are in the world and a set of values founded in faith, reason, and knowledge. Mission Statement Building Community Learning Together God With Us We acknowledge God'sGod's Word as the authority and guide for the community. In it Christ is revealecenterviding the center of all we do under God'sGod's grace. We believe each person in the community is essential, their worth attested by Christ, and should reach their potential: academically, spiritually, physically, culturally, and socio-emotionally. We aim to strive for excellence in an education that is authentic, life-related, and future-orientated. We believe that in Christ, all are equal, regardless of race, ability, gender, or physical nature, and are committed to each other in caring, just, supporting, encouraging, and forgiving relationships. We believe that we are to serve one another and the community. We believe that the natural environment is to be preserved and protected as we interact with it. We believe that Immanuel is enriched as we develop school pride and spirit and interact with the broader community. The College motto, Walk as Children of the Light, points us in the direction we must be going. We have to more fully come to know Jesus Christ, who is the Light of the World, and know what it means to be "Children of the Light." The motto tells us then to be what we are, and thus a significant objective of the College is to expose its students to the Light of the World and His plan for them. Our logo shows the Cross of Christ in front of the rising sun. Since the sun gives us light, the logo highlights Jesus as the Light of the World. Light also reveals and exposes, and thus we are reminded to look at ourselves as Jesus sees us. The sun is a symbol of the Sunshine Coast and its surf, sand, and enjoyment. The Cross is a symbol of Christ and His love for the world. When these two symbols are put together, we have a picture of Christ in the world where we are.

  22. The College curriculum is based on the Australian Curriculum, along with AusVELS in curriculum areas where the national Curriculum has not yet been finalized. Teachers are involved in curriculum development regularly. Support programs for disadvantaged students are a feature of Lutheran Schools and are provided when the need arises. Open-ended, investigative tasks cater to students of all abilities. For more information about our engaging Curriculum, please contact the College. This year the College has committed to adopting a set of international programs - the International Baccalaureate. Good News Lutheran College believes that the International Baccalaureate aligns incredibly well with its educational philosophies and values and helps better support its amazing multicultural, international community. Mrs. Maria Denholm will head the Primary Years Programme (PYP), to teach children aged 5-12 in our College to be an inquirer both within and outside the classroom environment. The Middle Years Programme (MYP), which will be overseen by Mrs. Erin Bagot, is a five-year program for students aged 11-16, encouraging them to make valuable connections between their education and the real world. IB programs aim to provide a series of rigorous, challenging, and unique curriculums to authorized schools, focusing on developing students to be internationally-minded individuals and promote students' participation in a global society.
  23. Good Shepherd Lutheran College is a Prep-Year 12 community serving the families of beautiful Noosa and surrounding districts. Drawing on more than 25 years of academic success and Christian care, Good Shepherd offers a comprehensive education that equips students to be compassionate, skilled tomorrow's leaders. At Good Shepherd, we recognize the potential of your child. Our dedicated and skilled teaching and non-teaching staff work with you to provide an educational experience that will bring out the best in your child. This is only possible when your child is supported and cared for, as they are a part of the Good Shepherd community. Mission Statement Good Shepherd Lutheran College exists to provide quality Christian education in a caring environment. Our College is part of the ministry of The Lutheran Church in Queensland and has strong ties to the Noosa Lutheran Parish. We wish to show the people of this area a glimpse of God's amazing love for them through it. The Good Shepherd Lutheran Congregation worships each Sunday in its hall, and its Pastor is involved in the school. You are welcome to call on the resources of the congregation at any time. The Lutheran Church believes that a person is brought into a living relationship with Jesus Christ through faith. The Holy Spirit establishes this grace relationship of love and forgiveness through God's Word. The Lutheran Church is a mainstream Christian Church first established in Northern Europe at the Reformation time in the 16th Century. In Australia, recent discussions have occurred between Lutheran, Anglican, Catholic, and Uniting Churches, the result being significant understanding, some agreement, and inter-denominational cooperation with and between these churches. Christian teaching and worship are central to the functions of all Lutheran Schools. More information about what Lutherans believe is available on request from the Registrar. The Chaplain will also be happy to discuss with you any further questions or concerns you may have.

Our Mission Grace Lutheran Primary School is a caring, Christian Community that develops individuals' unique gifts to serve others, be globally aware, and embrace their future. We are a vibrant Christian community that works hard to provide a quality educational environment for children. At Grace, families and staff work in close partnership, supporting each other as we strive to use our unique gifts and talents to the best of our abilities, for the benefit of others. We encourage our Parents and Friends to participate in the school community activities and celebrate together as we Grow in Grace. Our vision is to deliver an internationally recognized primary education that grows each child's unique potential and enriches communities. As we educate young people for roles that are yet to be created, we are conscious at Grace of the need to grow lifelong learners who have both the knowledge and skills and emotional intelligence to engage in a changing world. Here at Grace, we are a school of excellence in all aspects of teaching and learning, and we strive for continual improvement in educational practices and outcomes. As part of the 'Community of Grace,' we have established solid ties with our other 'Grace Places,' namely Grace Crèche and Kindergarten and Grace Lutheran College, to ensure a seamless transition throughout a child's formal years of schooling. With plenty of room for young bodies to grow and develop, our modern facilities and attractive grounds provide a magnificent backdrop to children's learning, which is the key focus of all that we do at Grace. Encouraging each child to be the very best that he/she can be is supported through classroom teachers who work closely with specialist staff in Music, Japanese, HPE, Library, Learning Enrichment, and Support, to ensure that every child feels valued and accepted as a child of God and connected to this unique community. Our staff is committed to identifying and working with individual needs, facilitating engaging and fulfilling learning opportunities, and working in close partnership with parents.
  25. Having served as a leader in Lutheran schools for 20 years, I am acutely aware that at the heart of every great school are people walking together, in partnership, with a shared vision for the future. Good Shepherd Lutheran School is a 'people place' where staff, students, and parents celebrate and live out our values of Love, Optimism, and Creativity. We are a community that is 'Active and connected, growing for LIFE.' Enjoy this glimpse of who we are, what is important to us, and how young lives and families benefit through a connection with Good Shepherd Lutheran School. As you engage in the exciting and vital task of deciding on a school for your child, know that our doors are always open, and your questions and queries are welcomed. I invite you to join me for one of our regularly scheduled principal's tours. Hear about our vision for learners and witness for yourself students' engagement in rich learning experiences within our vibrant and happy environment. Our Vision: Active and connected, growing for LIFE Our vision for lifelong learning is an inspirational statement that acknowledges the tremendous responsibility we assume as we guide and support children and families in a changing world. A traditional African proverb states, 'It takes a village to raise a child.' Success as a learner is not an individual pursuit - it requires shared goals, dedication, commitment, collaboration, and connectivity within the Good Shepherd community and into the world. Growing for LIFE is much more than an academic exercise. 'LIFE' in our vision is strongly connected to Jesus' words in John. I have come that they may have life and have it to the full. The learning environment is a safe and supportive place to build self, social, emotional, and spiritual capacity. All efforts to promote positive attitudes, achievements, and behavior have as their prime goal, the Christian growth and development of students as individuals and community members. This practice is based on the Christian principle of caring for each other rather than maintaining order through a purely penal system. We strive to maintain a school environment where children can experience success while feeling safe, happy, and secure. We encourage commitment to a restorative approach when relational challenges arise. A restorative approach provides an opportunity for those affected by conflict to be part of the healing process when students play a part in repairing and rebuilding relationships and have a clear understanding of behavioral expectations, preventing ongoing conflict results. Learning is attuned to be engaging, developmental, personalized, and differentiated to meet individual needs. Differentiated learning at Good Shepherd involves providing students with different pathways to achieve success. Students engage and focus on a task when they are at the center of their own learning experience. Personalized learning leads to deeper understanding and application for students. Learning is continuously reviewed and challenged as we design a curriculum for the future relevant to our setting and context. We promote flexible learning arrangements focused on growing each child. Learners are enabled to be resourceful, innovative, and persistent and to use initiative. Looking to the future, we recognize our students will be required to be strong problem solvers. In a dynamic world where technology and automation are changing the workplace rapidly, children must be ready to face the challenges, ask questions, and think for themselves. Well developed, these skills will positively impact all facets of their lives. Learners are active and informed citizens, connecting strongly with communities and practice beyond the classroom. At Good Shepherd, we are a local, national, and globally connected school. Being connected through technology in all areas of learning provides students with excellent opportunities to be innovative. Our Christian studies curriculum gives children a spiritual perspective that generates clarity and hope as they attempt to understand the world and their place in it.
