      About Me

      1. We opened in 2012 with reception students and have grown by a year group each year. We now have two classes in Year groups Reception to Year 5. By growing slowly but steadily, we can give every one of our 300 children a great deal of personal attention. As well as focusing on helping our pupils become confident readers, writers and mathematicians, we will also be ensuring that, as our pupils progress through the school there is a range of music, drama, and sporting activities for them to choose from. We are proud to be part of a vibrant and supportive international community and are keen that parents and families play an active part in our school life. Our building is smart and modern, and we are fortunate enough to have a lovely playground and excellent equipment and facilities. Especially at such a young age, it is important children are taught and looked after in the right way for them. We want children to retain their individuality and be treated the right way. We step in quickly if a change is needed. For some children, this might involve one-to-one support if they are finding something difficult and for others, it could mean stretching them more to keep them interested. As an Academy parent, you would be welcome to discuss your son or daughter with us at any time. We also send reports home every term. We welcome children of all abilities and want them to enjoy school and thrive. For children with special needs, one of our first steps is to work with their parents and other specialists to create a plan for supporting them. Our approach as a whole is reviewed with children’s classroom teachers, relevant specialists, and parents every half term. As children progress through school, one of our aims will be to make sure we give them a ‘head start’ for the rest of their education. As well as engaging them in the excitement of the subject at hand, these experiences help prepare children for a successful transition to secondary school. In Reception, we follow the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. The curriculum consists of seven areas of learning: Personal, Social, and Emotional Development Physical Development Communication and Language Literacy Mathematics Understanding the World Expressive Arts and Design There are then 17 Early Learning Goals (ELGs) that are part of these areas of learning. If a child achieves these goals by the end of the Reception year then they are said to be working at the expected level. Early Year's learning and development are provided through purposeful play and adult-led structures and routines that build confidence and provide intellectual stimulus and challenge. Throughout the day, children have direct teaching sessions for maths, literacy, and phonics, either as the whole class or in small groups. The rest of the time they take part in activities inside and outside the classroom. Some of the activities are prepared to focus on specific objectives. The children are also able to choose activities from any of the other resources available. View full school
      2. Our Academy opened in September 2014 to provide high-quality primary places for local families. We believe that every child is unique and that each deserves the opportunity to be happy, feel valued, and experience success. We are part of a Federation of schools with an established track record in Bromley and across London. The Harris Federation Primary Team provides a great deal of support to our staff, helping give pupils the highest quality education in a safe and nurturing environment. Our ethos at the Academy is that all children can achieve: it is our job as educators are to do everything possible to enable this to happen. We are delighted to be in a brand new building, which will be a bright, modern, and welcoming place for children to attend. We are fortunate to have a strong and committed partnership with our parent body, a tradition we want to continue as the Academy grows and develops. Whatever a child’s background or starting point, we want to make sure that they finish Year 6 with the academic skills, social skills, and knowledge necessary to succeed. Every lesson at our school will be creative and there will be plenty of time for children to think, to play, to discover and wonder. Each child will be taught in the way that suits them best and we will step in quickly if a change is needed. For some children, this might involve one-to-one support if they are finding something difficult and for others, it could mean stretching them more to keep them interested. Our school will be relaxed and comfortable but pupils will know that good behavior is expected of them. They will be frequently praised and rewarded for trying their best and for being kind, hard-working, and well-behaved. We want the school to feel friendly and welcoming and will always make sure that every pupil has at least one friend. Our children will be taught to respect each other and their teachers. Our academy is a member of the Harris Federation, a group of 44 primary and secondary academies in and around London educating some 30,000 young people. The Harris Federation Teaching School Alliance enables us not only to train and develop teachers and leaders in our academies but also to do so for other schools. Each academy is led and run by its Principal and other senior leaders: we are deliberately a federation rather than a chain. What unites us is a culture that ensures the children and teenagers in our schools get an excellent education within a happy, caring, and supportive environment. As a result of this, all Harris academies so far to have been inspected by Ofsted have been rated either ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ with the vast majority being Outstanding. Many of these academies replaced schools previously considered to have been failing. The aim of our teachers is always to deliver lessons that children enjoy and feel motivated by. We believe that all lessons should be creative, not just arts subjects. We want all of our pupils to be confident readers, writers, and mathematicians. Our teachers make sure these areas as well as the rest of the National Curriculum are taught in ways that engage the natural sense of curiosity that children have. The result of this is that children become eager, confident pupils who understand the joy of learning and are prepared well for academic success. View full school
      3. Welcome to the Harris Primary Academy Philip Lane. Like you, we have high aspirations and ambitions for the children at the academy. There is a driving determination to ensure that all pupils and adults reach their full potential. Our aims, visions, and priorities for improvement underpin all our policy and practice and we revisit and reflect upon these aims, visions, and priorities in our day-to-day work with the pupils and wider community. Harris Primary Academy Philip Lane opened in September 2012. We have 460 very happy, hard-working, and enthusiastic children who are being prepared for happy and successful lives, now and in the future. We aim to: Provide a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment where children enjoy learning and playing. Foster a love of learning within a structured, broad, and balanced curriculum. Provide high standards of teaching to develop knowledge, skills, and understanding in all subjects. Develop self-esteem so each pupil has a positive belief in their abilities and potential. Develop learning skills by encouraging a sense of curiosity, open-mindedness, perseverance, objectivity, reflection, and critical thinking. Nurture pupil diversity emphasizing individual talents in a wide range of fields, including academic, music, sport, art, and drama. Develop values and opinions within the context of mutual respect and understanding of differing belief systems and cultures within our community. Effectively implement the Federation equality plan and monitor progress towards meeting our equality duties We articulate our shared vision for improvement every day by ensuring we focus on the 7 Ps: Passion Purpose Positivity Progress Participation Partner work Pace We are a proud member of the Harris Federation of primary, secondary, and all-through academies and work closely with the central Federation team and other academies to ensure we constantly challenge, support, and encourage each other to meet standards of excellence and fulfill high expectations. Despite having one of the highest proportion of pupils of disadvantaged background in Haringey, 78% of Harris Phillip Lane pupils achieved the combined RWM, one of the highest in the country, and the top 5% of schools with similar pupils (Fischer Family Trust). Progress was ranked in the top 20% nationally for Reading and top 10% for Maths and Writing. Our 2017 KS2 provisional results rank us the seventh highest in the borough this year. We are lucky to be situated at the heart of a vibrant and diverse community with direct access to Downhills Park and close to the local swimming pool, public library, Bernie Grant Arts Centre, and a range of other amenities we use to enrich our children's learning. At HPAPL we aim to uphold the importance of ‘acceptance and engagement with the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs the pupils develop and demonstrate skills and attitudes that will allow them to participate fully in and contribute positively to life in modern Britain’ as laid out in the Ofsted Schools Inspections Handbook, 2015. As learners at Harris Primary Academy Philip Lane, our children are expected to do their best and value their education. As a Literacy specialist academy, we dedicate a lot of class time to ensuring our pupils become confident communicators, readers, and writers, alongside developing imagination, creativity, and confidence. We aim to prepare all students as fully as possible for their secondary education so that they are ready to hit the ground running when they change school at age 11. There are daily lessons in mathematics, reading, and literacy for children of all ages. As pupils progress from our Early Years, the curriculum and teaching styles will evolve so we continue to arouse our pupils' natural curiosity alongside teaching pupils the key skills and knowledge set out in the National Curriculum. Other subjects including science, computing, religious and physical education are taught each week. Homework letters and curriculum snapshots are sent home to families at the start of each new half term and are also available from the link in the menu to the left. We spend time with all our children helping them to understand what they can achieve now as well as what they need to do to become even better. View full school
      4. Welcome to Harris Primary Academy Peckham Park where we are proud to celebrate the wide range of backgrounds, abilities, faiths, and cultures within our school. Our success lies in our drive to ensure every pupil takes pride in their skills, abilities, and talents and uses these to help them attain the highest possible level of education. We work together to ensure that our children have a bright, safe, secure, and happy place to learn. We celebrate their achievements and encourage mutual respect for one another. We feel that by working together with our children and the wider community we can encourage our pupils to show respect, take responsibility, and show resilience as they grow with us. At Harris Primary Academy Peckham Park we have high aspirations and ambitions for our children and there is a driving determination to ensure that all pupils and adults reach their full potential. Our core purpose is to provide all pupils with high-quality learning experiences that lead to high levels of progress and attainment. Our aims and values underpin all our policies and practice. We consider, revisit and reflect upon these in our day-to-day work with the pupils and wider community. Through continued and sustained improvement, and a shared understanding of learning, teaching, assessment, and curriculum, our Academy aims to: Ensure that we inspire in all pupils, a love of learning and the desire to continue to learn Ensure that all pupils have an equal opportunity to take part in the life and work of the Academy and the wider community Provide a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment where children enjoy learning and playing Provide a rich, balanced and varied curriculum Provide high standards of teaching to develop knowledge, skills, and understanding in all subjects Equip all pupils with the learning habits and self-confidence necessary to constructively influence their own lives Enable pupils to learn from each other through a collaborative, inquiry-based approach to learning Promote creativity and independence so that they are more able to explore and discover things for themselves Develop learning skills by encouraging a sense of curiosity, open-mindedness, perseverance, objectivity, reflection, and critical thinking Nurture pupil diversity emphasizing individual talents in a wide range of fields, including academic, music, sport, art, and drama Develop values and opinions within the context of mutual respect and understanding of differing belief systems and cultures within our community Be a place that every child remembers with affection We highly value: How all children are unique, and our curriculum promotes respect for the views of each individual, as well as for people of all cultures. A working partnership with parents and families to support each pupil’s learning, progress, and well-being. The spiritual and moral development of each pupil, as well as their intellectual and physical growth. The importance of each person in our community. We organize our curriculum so that we promote cooperation and understanding between all members of our community. Our environment and we aim, through our curriculum, to teach respect for our world, and how we should care for it. At Harris Primary Academy, we believe that allowing children to think and work creatively develops self-confidence and builds up key learning skills (e.g. how to manage their behavior, their understanding of the learning process, their preferred learning style, to manage information, and learn from others.) Children who think creatively and independently are more likely to discover things for themselves, be open to new ideas, and be motivated to work beyond lesson time to pursue topics of interest. We believe these key skills and attitudes are best developed within a motivating cross-curricular thematic approach. We aim to create a rich and varied curriculum, meeting national requirements but is uniquely developed by us. View full school
      5. We aim to provide our pupils with a well-rounded and enjoyable education that ensures each child succeeds academically, physically, and emotionally - preparing them for life in an ever-changing world. We have identified six shared values, which we develop with the children throughout the academic year: Respect, Unity, Cooperation, Aspiration, Responsibility, and Integrity. Our evolving curriculum has been designed to challenge and inspire the children exposing them to a wide variety of exciting experiences including visits, events, sports, music, and drama but also time to reflect and respond. As a result, our children develop excellent behavior and social skills while they learn. Pupil Premium payments, which are used to enhance the quality of your child's education, are available to all eligible pupils. At Harris Primary Academy Orpington, Pupil Premium is used to provide your child with: Additional support with their learning including Speech and Language Support, Counselling, Booster Classes, and behavior and learning support Target support with reading Discount towards the cost of school trips, visits, and events Discount for all clubs and sports We have a list of '100 things' that we would like every child to have undertaken throughout their primary education. This includes simple things like walking barefoot on a beach and flying a kite to visiting ten London landmarks and performing in a concert. We hope these activities will ensure that the children are exposed to a well-balanced, wide, and rich curriculum - preparing them for their secondary education and future lives. In work and play, our children are encouraged towards the 4Rs to be reciprocal, reflective, resilient, and resourceful. The specialism at our Academy is Literacy, which we chose because we believe that learning to read, write and communicate effectively is extremely important. All of our students have a reading lesson every single day – this is so that they can read fluently by the time they are age 7. Reports are sent home on a termly basis, providing parents with information about their child's progress and noted areas for development. Creativity and fun are important aspects of the way we do things at the Academy – there is always time and space for children to develop their imaginations and thinking skills. We are extremely proud to be part of the Harris Federation which combines 42 primary, secondary and all-through academies across London. As part of a thriving community of schools, we benefit from the ability to share, learn, support, and challenge each other as we grow together. Our academy is a member of the Harris Federation, a group of 44 primary and secondary academies in and around London educating some 30,000 young people. The Harris Federation Teaching School Alliance enables us not only to train and develop teachers and leaders in our academies but also to do so for other schools. Ultimate responsibility for the Academy rests with the Board of Trustees of the Federation, but much of the work of the Board is delegated to the Local Governing Body (the Governors of the Academy). Some Governors are appointed by the Federation whilst others are elected by parents or guardians of students at the Academy or by staff. The Academy is committed to the vital contribution all Governors and staff can make to safeguarding children. We will strive to make sure that every student in the Academy feels secure, well cared for, and able to reach their full potential. We will ensure all our staff, other professionals, parents/carers, and students work together to know the rules about keeping children safe. They will understand the importance of following procedures and listening to each other, especially when there are safety concerns. The Academy will work hard to reduce all the kinds of harm that children can suffer, including abuse, bullying, discrimination, and avoidable injuries. View full school

Our children work within a happy and caring environment where their individual needs are met and talents nurtured. Our aim is that all of our children enjoy success at primary school, so we set high expectations and provide support to ensure they receive the best education. We are pleased that the hard work and dedication of our staff team was recognized by OFSTED when they visited us in May 2016. We were graded 'Outstanding' in all areas. You can read the full report if you click here. What the inspection team, and all visitors to our school, noticed was that the children at HPAKH are its best ambassadors. 8. Our Academy opened in September 2014 to meet significant demand from East Dulwich families for new primary places. We started with a Reception cohort and currently have children in year groups from Reception to Year 3 and will continue to grow by a year group at a time. We moved into our new building in September 2016, providing a bright and modern space for learning. Children lie at the heart of what we do at Harris Primary East Dulwich. We are a happy, ambitious, and inclusive school, reflecting the rich diversity of families in our area. We were delighted in May 2017 when Ofsted judged us to be 'outstanding in all areas. At Harris Primary East Dulwich, we aim to make learning irresistible, ensuring children develop a genuine, life-long, love of learning and that every child flourishes. We do this by providing the best possible education for all of our pupils. We believe that we can provide the very best opportunities for every single child in the school through our vision of ‘Achieving Success Together' which is underpinned by our ‘Keys to Success. We pride ourselves on providing a vibrant learning environment that nurtures and supports children. We encourage our pupils to be responsible for their learning, to grow in confidence, and become independent. The Philosophy for Children (P4C) program is a key feature of our school and the work that we do to prepare our children for their rights and responsibilities as global citizens. In recognition of our work in this area, we were awarded Level 1 of UNICEF's Rights Respecting School Award in July 2017. We offer an exciting and engaging creative curriculum where teachers and pupils work together to ensure high-quality learning experiences that enable every pupil to achieve their very best. Harris Federation works together at Harris Primary East Dulwich in a culture of collaboration and support, committed to providing a calm and stimulating environment. Our core purpose is to provide all pupils with high-quality learning experiences that lead to high levels of progress and attainment. Our values at Harris Primary Academy are encapsulated in our 'Keys to Success, which in turn encapsulates the key qualities and behaviors we develop in Harris Primary Academy East Dulwich children, which will not only create a happy school with good relationships and effective learning but will also prepare them for adult life. These are: Determination Respect Integrity Responsibility Community Spiritedness Curiosity Self-control Conscientiousness Our children are taught in line with the expectations that are set out in the National Curriculum. English, Mathematics, R.E., Music, and P.E. are generally taught as discrete subjects. All the remaining subjects are taught through our thematic curriculum, which is a stimulating topic-based approach to learning. In addition to this, children are taught Mandarin as a Modern Foreign Language alongside furthering their Spanish learning from last year. Our thematic curriculum has been designed to ensure rigorous learning of knowledge and the development of skills which has been mapped to the 2014 National Curriculum to ensure comprehensive coverage of national expectations. It is delivered through half-termly Imaginative Learning Projects which provide a rich menu of exciting and motivating learning activities that make creative links between all aspects of our children’s learning. At Harris Primary Academy East Dulwich, we support our pupils to develop the character attributes, traits, and behaviors that we believe will help to underpin success in school and beyond, both now and in their future lives. We call these the East Dulwich Keys to Success and we believe these are the ‘keys to unlocking future success. At HPAD we have agreed on a set of character attributes or ‘keys’, and the focus on developing these in our pupils is at the core of our ethos at Harris Primary Academy East Dulwich – it underpins everything we do from our curriculum to our approach to behavior management. Develop a learning community that inspires everyone to have high aspirations and develop a life-long love of learning Create a stimulating learning environment in which children and adults feel welcome and safe Ensure that equality of opportunity enables everyone to reach their full potential Support children to become confident, well-rounded individuals who recognize the part that they play in society Develop a culture of respect for different beliefs, religions, and cultures and have a good understanding of British values and democracy Provide a rich and balanced curriculum that inspires children and encourages them to take control of their learning Encourage children to take care of their environment and recognize the part that they play in creating a positive learning environment Create an environment that nurtures the spiritual and moral development of every child and promotes respect for diversity Work with parents and the local community to ensure that an academy is a place of learning for all. We aim to make sure that, from the first day of their education, our pupils have a truly happy experience of school. This means teaching them to become confident learners and making sure we nurture each child’s personality and character. We are proud of our children at the Academy. With the help of our wonderful parent body, they are taught to be kind, caring, self-assured, and eager to learn. We hope that you find our website interesting and informative. The Harris Federation has been recognized as a top performer by education researchers at the Department for Education, Sutton Trust, and Education Policy Institute as well as Watchsted and PwC. We are a not-for-profit charity created by Lord Harris of Peckham. He and his family take an active interest in every Harris academy, supporting us financially and with their time. We believe that all children should be equally valued at our Academy. We will strive to eliminate prejudice and discrimination and to develop an environment where all children can flourish and feel safe. We have a range of agreed policies. Harris Primary Academy Crystal Palace is committed to inclusion and part of the Academy’s strategic planning involves developing cultures, policies, and practices that include all learners. We aim to engender a sense of community and belonging and to offer new opportunities to learners who may have experienced previous difficulties. This does not mean that we will treat all learners in the same way, but that we will respond to learners in ways that take into account their varied life experiences and needs. We believe that educational inclusion is about equal opportunities for all learners, whatever their age, gender, demographic group, ethnicity, additional need, attainment, and background. We pay particular attention to the provision for and the achievement of different groups of learners: Students from families that are financially disadvantaged (PP - Pupil Premium) Students who arrive with below nationally expected ability in any area (LAPs) Boys or Girls Students from minority faiths, ethnicities, travelers, asylum seekers, refugees Students who have English as an additional language (EAL) Students who have Special Educational Needs or a Disability (SEND) Students who are Gifted and Talented (G&T) Students who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transgender (LGBT) Students who are Looked After Children (LAC) Young carers, sick children, children from families under stress Whatever a child’s background or starting point, we want to make sure that they finish Year 6 with the academic skills, social skills, and knowledge necessary to succeed. Every lesson at our school is creative and there is plenty of time for children to think, to play, to discover and wonder. Each child is taught in the way that suits them best and we step in quickly if a change is needed. For some children, this might involve one-to-one support if they are finding something difficult and for others, it could mean stretching them more to keep them interested. Our Academy is relaxed and comfortable but pupils know that good behavior is expected of them. They are frequently praised and rewarded for trying their best and for being kind, hard-working, and well-behaved. We want the Academy to feel friendly and welcoming and we always make sure that every pupil has at least one friend. Our children are taught to respect each other and their teachers. There is a zero-tolerance approach to any type of bullying. View full school
      10. Our Academy opened in September 2012 one of the 44 academies within the Harris Federation. We are sponsored by Lord Harris of Peckham and enjoy the benefits of being part of a high-achieving Federation. All of our academies have been graded as 'Good' or 'Outstanding' from Ofsted. Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park is an Outstanding primary academy and we have high expectations and aspirations for your children. We give them opportunities to enjoy their learning and prepare them for future academic success as well as happy lives. We have a unique creative curriculum, a clear vision, high expectations, strong moral values, and a love of learning. Our academy is a multi-cultural, multi-faith family where children learn together. They respect and value each other. We believe all children are special and we "dig for gold" in every child. This means encouraging children to do their very best, not settling for second-best. The Academy is located in the heart of Tottenham and we are very proud of all of our children. Everyone works hard and behaves well to achieve "exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can think or imagine. We believe that confidence, self-esteem, and strong moral values are the keys to successful futures that all children can make a difference in the world they live in. Therefore at HPACP we develop a 'can-do' attitude empowering every member of the school family to embrace challenge, take risks and aspire to achieve, exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can think or imagine. Learning is at the heart of all we do learning for children, staff, and parents. Our ethos is embedded in our belief that high expectations achieve high outcomes! We also believe in building confidence by giving children opportunities to achieve through challenging and creative learning experiences." However, academic attainment is not enough. We want to grow children who care enough to make a difference in the world. Therefore, we emphasize strong moral values which together form the daily diet at Harris Coleraine Park. We have high expectations for behavior and learning and therefore high expectations of outcomes for children. We want to raise standards and expectations by making sure that, whatever a child’s background or starting point is, they finish Year 6 with the academic skills, social skills, and knowledge necessary to succeed. Our aim is that each of our students should be able to hit the ground running when they begin secondary school. Learning at Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park is exciting, engaging, and relevant. It prepares children for the world we live in now and for our future. In January 2014 we introduced a brand new curriculum which links learning to a theme. Each half term there is a whole-school theme, which is then divided into year group specific aspects, and most subjects are taught through the theme where possible. Our curriculum has been written to be in line with the new national curriculum for England. As half termly units are completed they will be published on our website. There are daily lessons in English (Reading, Writing, Phonics, Spelling, and Grammar) and Mathematics for children of all ages. This helps to make sure that they become confident readers, writers, and mathematicians in the earliest years of their education. Children also learn science, history, geography, RE, PE, art, design technology, drama, dance, and music. They study Personal, Social, and Citizenship education and begin learning a modern foreign language in Year 3. PE, Dance, and Drama are taught by two specialist teachers which ensure children reach the very highest standards possible in all subjects. Reading is a key area for improvement in our academy. The purpose of storytime: To instill the love of books and the excitement of reading. To enrich the vocabulary and extend children's ideas for writing. To encourage/challenge children to increase/extended their reading. Creativity, fun, and self-expression are important aspects of Academy life and, across every subject, we make sure there are time and space for children to develop their imagination and their thinking skills. As a school, we educate and provide boundaries for our pupils to make choices safely, through the provision of a safe environment and a creative curriculum. Our pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and are advised how to exercise these safe examples of this can be seen in our e-safety lessons and instilling BLP into our classrooms. Our pupils are given the freedom to make choices and to take part in after-school activities. Our core value of Respect ensures tolerance of those who have different faiths and beliefs. The Academy enhances pupils' understanding of different faiths and beliefs through religious education studies P.S.H.E. work visits to other schools in different settings to participate in celebrations such as Diwali welcoming visitors from other schools that are not predominately white British and enjoying a depth of study during themed weeks. The Academy takes part in many charity events, holds events like International days where parents are invited in to share their beliefs, traditions, and customs with the children thus helps our Academy to enrich and extend understanding. We are a not-for-profit charity created by Lord Harris of Peckham. He and his family take an active interest in every Harris academy, supporting us financially and with their time. We want children to retain their individuality and creativity and be treated the right way. With a single form in each year group, children at our academy settle quickly and get to know each other and our staff well. We step in quickly if a change is needed. For some children, this might involve one-to-one support if they are finding something difficult and for others, it could mean stretching them more to keep them interested. As an academy parent, you are welcome to discuss your son or daughter with us at any time. We send progress reports home every term with a full written report at the end of the academic year. We welcome children of all abilities and want them to enjoy school and thrive. For children with Special Educational Needs, one of our first steps is to work with their parents and other specialists to create a plan for supporting them. Our approach as a whole is reviewed with children’s classroom teachers, relevant specialists, and parents every half term. Our aim is that all of our children are well prepared to begin the second phase of their education. With each day, week, term, and year being so significant in a child’s life, consistency is particularly important in their primary education. As part of the Harris Federation, which has its training school for teachers, our staff receives outstanding professional development to make sure that standards are consistently high in every classroom. We work closely with other Harris academies in Bromley to share best practices and welcome the opportunities and additional capacity that gives us as a small school. View full school

Every Harris Academy is different, serving its community, but we share an ethos that ensures children and teenagers have access to an excellent education within a happy, caring, and supportive environment. There is also a Harris Federation Teaching School Alliance. This enables the Harris Federation not only to train and develop teachers and leaders in its academies but also to deliver outstanding training for other schools across London. Whatever a child's background or starting point, the staff at HPABe are ambitious for all children and aim to ensure they finish Year 6 with the knowledge, academic skills, and life skills to thrive. We recognize and value each child's personality and work to develop their self-confidence and self-esteem. At HPABe we strongly believe that once a child can read they can access the wider world around them. Each day begins with a high-quality phonics lesson and by the end of Year 1, the vast majority of children move away from the phonics program and develop their higher-level comprehension skills. For the rest of the day, children take part in a busy timetable of Mathematics, English, and thematic work which aims to link all areas of the curriculum. Science, P.E, and Mandarin are taught to a high level by subject specialists. Thematic lessons are challenging and link British Values in a meaningful way, they all have the 'wow' factor at the heart to inspire and motivate pupils. Each child will be taught in the way that suits them best and we will step in quickly if a change is needed. All children who need further support receive extra support to ensure that they make rapid progress. We encourage all pupils in EYFS and KS1 who receive a universal free school meal to stay for school lunch. Pupils are served using china plates and eat with their teachers who encourage good table manners and conversation. At HPABe we believe that 'every child matters and every moment counts' We have a strong and committed team who work together to bring this vision to life. We strongly encourage visits to our academy so that you can see our vision in action. At Harris Primary Academy Beckenham we are committed to promoting the progress and attainment of all our pupils, whatever their backgrounds. We commit to the Harris Federation’s equality and diversity statement which can be seen here. The Pupil Premium is part of our overall budget that we receive annually. We are required to account specifically for how we use this fund. It is allocated based on the number of children meeting national criteria based on the Ever 6 Measure. That includes the total number of: Pupils eligible for free school meals – within the last 6 years Looked after children We use our funding to precise target specific teaching and learning programs or related activities. We are committed to ensuring that all our pupils progress well and access high-quality teaching and provision - every day. We carefully track the progress of all children including children from disadvantaged backgrounds through provision maps and at pupil progress meetings every half term. Tracking also enables us to evaluate the impact of our teaching and intervention programs so we can adjust provision and tailor support. That way, we can make sure we are having the desired impact on pupils’ learning and progress. Programs are used across our Early Years, KS1 & KS2 to help identify children who need support to accelerate progress in their mathematics, reading, writing, speaking, and listening. View full school

Our motto is “Aspire, Learn, Succeed”. This means that we look for every member of our community to be keen to learn, to be willing to engage, and to be successful in their time with us. We want our students to be aspirational we want them to think about what they want to do with their lives, to explore the world and think about where they fit into it, what they can get from it, and what they can offer as well. Our values: Fairness. Relationships. Authenticity. Generosity. Happiness. As part of the Harris Federation, we have strong values which help to define our culture and how we do things. Our commitment to academic excellence, our determination to maintain strong values and to uphold the highest standards of behavior, and our care and support of our students are all embedded. Our curriculum continues to develop in breadth and rigor. For the vast majority of our students, a broad curriculum offer of strong academic provision is appropriate. For a small number of students, there is support available for a more refined range of options, including vocational routes as appropriate to the needs of individual students. Our approach to learning enables students to see the relevance of their learning and experiences to the wider world. We try to give students as many different experiences and opportunities as we can – to broaden their horizons so that they begin to understand and engage with different cultures, ideas and countries. We offer a wide range of activities and trips beyond the classroom each year and regularly survey students to ensure we are providing for their needs and their requests. Also, our specialisms are a vibrant and fundamental part of our academy life and we participate regularly in Federation activities, our students working in collaboration with other high-attaining academies and enjoying a close relationship with our partner boys’ school. We want our students to become thoughtful, caring, resilient young women whose aims are high, who believe in the importance of being life-long learners, who are equipped to lead their generation, who recognize that anything is possible, and who always strive to achieve their personal best. We encourage them to be studious, articulate, and innovative team players who can adapt effectively to the many roles life will demand of them both now and in the future. We hope that each of our students will leave the academy with genuine choices available to them. We believe that further education is a natural and immediate next step for most students but whatever each young person decides to do, we want them to be equipped to be excellent in it. Our growing sixth form works in close partnership with Harris Boys’ Academy East Dulwich and federation with the Harris Sixth Form, which has Harris Westminster as part of its expanding provision, meaning that we can offer a top-class educational experience to every student, including our very highest attainers who are aiming for Oxbridge places. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum throughout the academy, providing students with a wide range of subjects. Our Key Stage 3 provision is largely covered during years 7 and 8 with many subjects commencing GCSE courses at the beginning of, or during, year 9. Other than the RE and non-Science component of Sex Education, all National Curriculum subjects are statutory and we cannot allow withdrawal based on religious grounds. We offer our first set of options to students during Year 8 in readiness for them to commence their GCSE studies in Year 9. We offer a wide range of options to students and then commit to run the most heavily selected courses, aiming to give as many students as possible their first choices. Sometimes this leads to double groups in some subjects. View full school

We are a small, successful Academy in New Beckenham that has recently been judged outstanding in every category by Ofsted. The Progress 8 figure for 2017 is 1.09 and our average grade at A-Level is a grade B. This means that we are now, the most successful school in the borough of Bromley and within the top 1% of schools in the country for progress. It is with enormous pride that I introduce our incredible school and the opportunities that benefit the girls so much. As a local parent myself, I know how important the decision about which school to send your daughter to is and about the relationship of trust that begins when a parent chooses a school to educate their daughter at. This is not a relationship that is taken lightly. We have the highest expectations of the girls (and boys in the Sixth Form) and we make no excuses for that I believe that we should all practice courtesy, consideration, and cooperation and we instill this in the girls from their very first day. Our motto of ‘All Can: We Will’ represents our belief that with our high-quality dedicated teaching and support, coupled with our academic and cultural enhancement curriculum, our girls will mature as responsible individuals who can and will succeed in their chosen paths. We are committed to building the confidence of each student, encouraging and motivating them to take full advantage of all the opportunities to learn and broaden their horizons while understanding the importance of respect and consideration to others. We believe this will enable them to make well-informed life choices beyond their school years and develop as mature and responsible members of the community. We are committed to inspiring our students to raise their aspirations, so they can achieve their very best. Our teachers, along with our Chair of Governors, are ambitious and act as positive role models for the girls. We encourage the students to participate in charitable activities both domestically and abroad, to further their experiences and understanding of our global diverse world. We are committed to strengthening our community through collaboration with parents and local activities. The learning philosophy of Commitment, Optimism, and Resilience develops learners who recognize that challenge is an opportunity, not an obstacle. We know that successful learners are committed, optimistic and resilient and our girls are. We encourage the use of the word yet, introducing strategies informed by the work of Hattie and Dweck, and have developed workshops in resilience and mindfulness. Our success at GCSE and A-Level demonstrates that we are achieving remarkable things. Progress in Maths and Sciences at GCSE level is exceptionally high and we continue our commitment to encourage our girls to study those subjects at A-Level in our Sixth Form. We will further expand teaching in STEM subjects over the coming years. We believe that the girls only have one opportunity to prepare for the challenges that will face them after they leave school and we are dedicated to ensuring that they are well prepared and will lead successful and happy lives. 17. A warm welcome to Harris Boys’ Academy East Dulwich. What makes us special goes far beyond the “outstanding” rating by Ofsted we were delighted to achieve in 2011. At the heart of our success is an absolute belief in the ability of every student to shine – no matter what their background, ability, or character. We will accept no excuses for being anything but the best we can be. When a student joins our academy some will already be high-fliers, others will be good all-rounders and some will face significant and individual challenges. Each student will already have a unique personality, gift, and character that we will develop further by working together. I have made it clear to everyone at the Academy that we are stronger as a team than a group of individuals, and that by pulling in the same direction we will achieve great things. We encourage our students to be critical thinkers and promote these skills throughout the curriculum. A student at Harris Boys' Academy will learn how to engage critically with foreign affairs, religion and society, issues of citizenship, and the media, so they acquire the skills and recognize the value of, thinking for themselves and thinking in a well-reasoned manner. This feeds into our desire to leave our students with the ability to apply these same skills to any context, for example, whether they are being subject to peer pressure, or being actively targeted by extremist ideologies. Children learn best when their school environment is safe, inclusive, and welcoming. We have a culture of mutual respect between students and staff, and zero tolerance of bullying in any form. We have a proven track record of getting the best from all our students, reinforced by very clear expectations regarding student conduct, manners, uniform, and behavior which are non-negotiable and consistently enforced across the Academy. We believe that success occurs in a framework of high expectations, whilst also acknowledging that mistakes provide valuable learning opportunities too. This is a school at which every student has the chance to find his unique path to success, where everyone is aware of their rights and responsibilities towards themselves and others. The curriculum at Harris Boys’ Academy East Dulwich is designed to ensure that each student is educated and supported to succeed in the world today in line with the latest educational research. The Key Stage 3 curriculum is followed by Years 7 and 8 and is designed to provide depth and breadth of study whilst ensuring that appropriate time can be devoted to Mathematics, English, and Science. Key Stage 3 is the bedrock and the foundation for our students to be successful when they leave Harris Boys’ Academy. By getting Key Stage 3 right, the transition to Key Stage 4 is much easier for students. We intend to give students a ‘taste’ of as many subjects as possible, whilst preparing them for, and informing them about, their GCSE options. Literacy and numeracy skills are developed in every subject and across the curriculum. All students have a broad weekly curriculum offer of English, Maths, Science, Geography, History, Spanish, Religious Studies, ICT skills, Physical Education, Design and Technology, Food Technology, Art, Drama, Dance, and Music. To help our students prepare for success in an ever-changing world, we have developed a Key Stage 4 (Years 9, 10, and 11) Programme of Study that offers each student a focussed Curriculum Pathway, as well as an option to incorporate personal interest into his studies. All students follow a core curriculum of English Language, English Literature, Maths, Double Science, either Geography or History, and BTEC First Sport. The majority of our boys will also have a Modern Foreign Language as part of their core curriculum. Our students select their additional subjects to make up their curriculum. This selection is made up of vocational courses and other academic subjects. The list of optional subjects is extensive and will give the boys a real opportunity to experience a subject that they may then want to go off and study at university. At Key Stage 5, we are part of the highly successful Harris Federation Sixth Form with over 120 students studying at Harris Boys’ Academy East Dulwich. View full school

We believe that all children, including those identified as having Special Educational Needs as well as every other student, have a common entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum. This curriculum should be accessible to them, and they will be fully included in all aspects of Academy life. We recognize that pupils learn at different rates and that there are many factors affecting achievement, including ability, emotional state, age, and maturity. We are particularly aware of the needs of our pupils, for whom maturity is a crucial factor in terms of readiness to learn. We believe that many pupils, at some time in their Academic career, may experience difficulties that affect their learning, and we recognize that these may be long or short term. At the Academy, we aim to identify these needs as they arise and provide teaching and learning contexts that enable every child to achieve his or her full potential. View full school

      24. Welcome to Harris Academy Bermondsey. Harris Academy Bermondsey is a girls' school with drive and ambition in the heart of London. Ofsted rated us as Outstanding in every one of their categories in March 2015. We are passionate about making a difference in the lives of our young women, ensuring that they have every opportunity to succeed by identifying and nurturing each one's talents. HAB staff have high expectations of the girls and HAB girls have high expectations of themselves. Our ethos is one of being uncompromising but caring in everything that we do. This is how we have created a happy and safe learning environment, with firm but fair discipline. All HAB girls know our rules and abide by them. We expect every girl to be dressed correctly, on time, and prepared to work hard, always following staff instructions. Our girls always want to live up to these expectations, but on the rare occasion that one of them fails to do so, she knows that there will be clear consequences, followed by support to learn from the experience. We offer outstanding care and guidance for every one of our girls. In Year 7 for example, as well as her Learning Family Mentor, every girl has one-to-one transition coaching from a former student, while as many girls who need it have additional reading lessons so that they can achieve their academic potential from the beginning of their time with us. We also guarantee to every parent or carer that we will work closely with them to raise their daughter successfully, sharing the joys and challenges of this with honesty and integrity. This is summed up in the HAB staff motto, “We are ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen to help their daughters achieve the success they deserve.” HAB girls work together to live up to the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. HAB is a harmonious and supportive environment. Key to this is our Learning Family system, in which every girl belongs to a small group of mixed years, led by a teacher. Starting every day together, the Learning Family members develop strong relationships with girls of different ages and from different backgrounds, breaking down barriers and preventing bullying. Learning Family teachers speak to parents or carers about their daughter's progress and achievements at least once a fortnight Music is a very important part of the life of HAB. All students are offered the chance to study a wide range of instruments, including violin, piano, keyboard, flute, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, singing, drumming, guitar, and bass guitar, through free one-to-one lessons. Music Scholarships are also offered to Year 7 students who have two instrumental lessons a week, attend workshops with professional musicians as well as seeing live music every term. Students in Year 8 are introduced to increasingly complex texts and ideas through the widened range of literature studied. Students will develop different writing styles and develop their powers of observation and description, both of people and places, and will become more equipped at understanding and analyzing characters. Students will also interact with a greater range of non-fiction texts and develop their knowledge of Shakespeare as they move towards the key transition year of Year 9. As a sixth former at Harris Academy Bermondsey, you will have the opportunity to build upon everything you have enjoyed here in the past. You will also be able to take advantage of a range of new opportunities, and new ways of learning and discovery, in an environment that you already call home. Every term, you will be able to choose a Subject Enrichment Course. These are fully funded and provide activities that broaden your interests and experiences. They range from Politics, Philosophy, and Economics to Research Methods, Coding, and Art Appreciation. In addition to your Enrichment Courses, students enroll on a student leadership course, ensuring that alongside academic success, students are equipped with the essential soft skills such as communication, collaboration, and resilience to ensure their success in the wider world. As a Harris sixth form, we also have a wide range of partnerships with universities and other organizations. These give our sixth formers meaningful opportunities and access to facilities, contacts, experiences, and advice that are simply not found elsewhere. View full school
