  1. The David Posnack Jewish Day School offers a unique, challenging, educational experience, combining an intensive focused secular education with an innovative, exciting Jewish curriculum. At Posnack School, we are concerned not only with our students’ academic accomplishments but also with their social and character development. We believe this can be achieved most successfully when parents and school staff work together in a dynamic learning environment. At Posnack School, every child is nurtured to reach their potential. The Posnack School draws upon the Jewish ethos of hard work and study to produce graduates of the highest caliber, acceptable to the most prestigious institutes of higher education. Our school promotes academic excellence as a central goal. Graduates will master advanced studies in both the arts and sciences. We stress the concepts of team membership and participation in athletics. Sport’s emphasis on cooperation, fitness, and healthy competition, is central to our curriculum. Our philosophy is firmly rooted in Torah and is dedicated to the global community of Jews and the State of Israel. The Posnack School student is exceptionally well rounded, learning in an environment that establishes harmony between Hebrew language, religion, Jewish culture, and a variety of advanced secular studies. The Hebrew language, the vehicle of the Jewish renaissance, will be taught as the portal to our collective past, present, and future. The Posnack School emphasizes the development of ethical and moral values from a Judaic point of view. Our school places great importance on the concept of Tikkun Olam (social action). The focus is on how students, as individuals and as a community, can help improve themselves and their world. The Posnack School stimulates awareness of Jews around the world as well as a strong focus on human rights for all people. Our school acknowledges the inequities in our society and emphasizes tzedakah (philanthropy) in its fullest sense. Civic responsibility and communal participation are standards set for every Posnack School student. For over four decades, the Posnack School has made incredible strides both in serving our children and the broader Jewish community. At our core, the spirit of the Posnack School resides within our students. Every year they actively demonstrate their concern for one another, their care for the school community, and their commitment to making the world a better place. Our school’s founders believed in a clear purpose that is flourishing today and is as vibrant and alive as ever before in our history. The Posnack School tradition of offering our students the finest academics AND Judaics within the confines of a Jewish Day school continues every school year. We are proud of our storied 42-year history and the hundreds of alumni who have passed through our doors. The Posnack School experience is deeply rooted in the traditions of our people and the teachings of our heritage. We strive to instill the values of the Torah in our students and bring its lessons alive in a purposeful and meaningful way. As one of the few kindergartens through 12th-grade community Jewish day schools in the United States, our purpose is critical to the overall future vibrancy of the Jewish community. Our graduates walk the campuses of the colleges throughout the world, and their Posnack School training puts them at the forefront of advocating for Jewish causes. Moving beyond college, being a valuable member of the Posnack School family is a connection and partnership that lasts a lifetime and never truly ends. “Once a Posnack School Ram, always a Posnack School Ram” is our motto.
  2. Maharishi School, one of America’s most unique and progressive schools. What began in 1981 as a single innovative school is now the model for a special kind of holistic education around the world. At Maharishi School, the foundation of our college preparatory program is optimal alertness. You could have the most ideal school imaginable—best teachers, best facilities, best curriculum, and technology—but if students enter the classroom stressed, fatigued, or distracted, how much can be gained? What if there was a way to optimize students’ alertness? Every aspect of school life would be enhanced: assimilating and retaining knowledge, social and emotional development, physical health, and well-being. That is why at Maharishi School we invest in rest—of a special kind. Our students and teachers take time to transcend twice a day, with the practice of yoga and Transcendental Meditation. This allows them to gain deep rest and dissolve stress before it accumulates. It improves brain functioning. In a world of nearly incessant outer stimuli, it gives them a respite of inner silence, a connection with their true self. Through our unique program that is part theory, part practice, students learn to operate from a place of center. They learn how to imbue life with stillness, self-awareness, and presence. This lays the foundation for academic success and prepares students for all areas of future life. Our goal is to help our students be the best version of themselves—starting with knowing who they are. We offer AP exams to prepare our students for college-level work and Honors classes to promote original work. Our students also have a unique interdisciplinary course called the Science of Creative Intelligence where they see underlying, universal principles that are common to the structure and functioning of all aspects of life—their academic subjects, in nature, and themselves. Students make connections between all the surface details and the big ideas. Our students are awake. They are dynamic. We want to help them unleash their creativity, and that’s where Project-Based Learning serves them best. Our Project Period gives students 70 minutes every day to explore their passions, whether in a teacher-designed project or one they have proposed as an independent or small group project. They problem-solve, they experiment, they falter, and keep trying. They are exercising real-life skills in areas of interest, supported by teachers, community experts, and/or online resources. Project Period is another doorway to finding oneself. It’s another place where individuality is honored and encouraged. Maharishi School students awaken hidden potentials and accomplish audacious goals. Our alumni have gone on to prestigious universities such as MIT, Stanford, Middlebury, and Oxford. They boast achievements in renowned international competitions like INTEL Science and Engineering Fair and Destination Imagination’s Global Finals. The daily practice of Transcendental Meditation also helps to keep life in check so our students can just be happy with themselves regardless of the competitions, goals, or pressure they will face. We’re small. All the students know each other. Teachers know all the students. And the small class sizes create a learning environment where every relationship matters and every voice is encouraged and expected. Students from 30 countries have walked through our doors allowing for a rich mosaic of perspectives and preferences. Beyond our doorstep lies Fairfield, a small, safe community stitched together with progressive values and people from all over the world. Smithsonian Magazine recently named Fairfield one of the “Top Small Towns in America to Visit.” It’s so special that Oprah herself came to visit Fairfield and Maharishi School and slipped into a meditation seat next to our students. This intimate and inclusive setting makes Maharishi School a very special home away from home. Maharishi School’s vision of holistic education encompasses not just an array of academic subjects and extracurricular pursuits, but also a focus on character development from outer examples and training. We are committed to drawing out the phenomenal gifts and potential in each person’s inner self. Our mission is to create an innovative Consciousness-Based educational environment where students think deeply and become creative, compassionate, contributing citizens of the world. Core values: In our words and action, we treat others with the respect we want and expect. We accept responsibility for our thoughts, words, and actions. We seek ways to serve others and to be good stewards of our environment. Whenever confronted by challenges or problems, we seek creative solutions. “Don’t agonize, organize.” Our daily practice of Transcendental Meditation builds depth in our thinking and provides the support of Natural Law to fulfill our goals, desires, and Core Values. 6. LCA is an interdenominational school that glorifies God in supporting Christian families by providing a biblically integrated and academically excellent education. An LCA student will be equipped to impact his or her world by exhibiting strong Christian character including service to God and others, and by demonstrating academic achievement, biblical leadership, and the ability to articulate and defend a Christian worldview in all areas of life. The mission of Lighthouse Christian Academy is to partner with Christian parents to provide a biblically integrated and academically excellent education to develop each child’s Christ-like character, intellectual ability, and physical health to the glory of God. We provide a biblically integrated and academically excellent education that develops each child’s Christ-like character, intellectual ability, and physical health to the glory of God. LCA meets all state curriculum requirements, is accredited by the Indiana Department of Education, and is also a member of the Association of Christian Schools International. Choosing a school is an extremely important decision as you carry out your God-given responsibility for the education of your children. Lighthouse Christian Academy sees its role as partnering with parents to carry out this task. Our students, K-12 have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of educational experiences: academic, arts, and athletic related. Every area of influence experienced by the student is guided by a Biblical approach. Our faculty and staff are committed to Christian education. They are committed to our Lord Jesus Christ, to the mission of the school, and the children at LCA. They seek to have each child develop his/her God-given gifts. Our theme verse is Mathew 5:16, “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven,” and our goal is to equip our students to be a LIGHT. Lighthouse Christian Academy is fully accredited by the State of Indiana, State Board of Education through Freeway Status. LCA is also a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). The ACSI is an association of Christian schools whose motto is to strengthen Christian schools and equip Christian educators worldwide as they prepare students academically and inspire them to become devoted followers of Jesus Christ. The LCA Statement of Faith contains fundamental Christian doctrines that Lighthouse Christian Academy teaches and holds unreservedly. These foundational doctrines will be enthusiastically affirmed by the faculty in the classrooms at LCA. Faculty, staff, parents and students should also be aware that certain positions not found in the Statement of Faith are primarily left to the teachings of the student’s home and church. The Lighthouse Christian Academy philosophy of Christian education is based upon the Biblical teaching that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge. Only a Christ-centered education can have meaning and can validly prepare youth for time and eternity. The goal of all education is to help man glorify God and enjoy Him forever. Since a true understanding of the world in which we live cannot be gained apart from the knowledge of the Creator, all aspects of the curriculum should be distinctly Christian, taking into account God’s revelation of Himself. A primary portion of our service to God is to center around loving our neighbors. To this end, a full education should include an emphasis on acquiring and understanding the history and state of the culture within which they will serve God through their dealings with their neighbors. 8. Many people describe their high school years as some of the best years of their lives. It's a time for learning, for friendships, for fun. It's also a time when you begin to prepare yourself for a lifetime of Christian service. That means that your choice of a high school will affect you not only for the next four years, but it will help to set the direction for your entire adult life. Luther Prep offers many things that Christian young people and their parents value. At LPS all of our teachers, dormitory staff, and students share your faith in Christ and your trust in the Word of God. All classes are taught from a Christ-centered perspective. The curriculum is a solid college preparatory curriculum with an emphasis on religion, English, history, science, math, and music. The courses are designed especially to prepare students for Martin Luther College, but they also equip students to attend any college of their choice. With the guidance and help of the Holy Spirit, this school will strive: To proclaim, teach, and apply faithfully the Word of God in all courses of instruction and all other areas of campus life, in keeping with the Holy Scriptures and the teachings of the Lutheran Confessions To promote continuing spiritual growth and faithful Christian discipleship among all members of our campus family through the use of the means of grace To provide a challenging academic course of study in religion, languages, history, science, mathematics, and the arts, to prepare students for continuing their preparation for full-time ministry To enable all students to develop their God-given talents by providing them with a wide range of opportunities in the areas of music, forensics, drama, athletics, social life, and Christian service To promote the high calling of the public ministry through the continuing recruitment and retention of qualified students and a positive image of the ministry among faculty members To deal lovingly and evangelically with each student as a redeemed child of God, offering counseling, encouragement, and loving Christian discipline To regard seriously the great trust that parents have placed in the school and to deal with all of our students in a way that reflects our role as caretakers and parental representatives. Luther Preparatory School is a four-year secondary school owned and operated by the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. It offers a challenging college preparatory curriculum in grades 9-12 to students who are considering the full-time pastoral or teaching ministry as their life’s work. Luther Preparatory School is the oldest Lutheran high school in the United States. It traces its history to its founding on this campus in 1865 as the prep department of Northwestern College. The prep department was given its own identity in 1974 as Northwestern Preparatory School. Luther Prep today is the result of a merger of Northwestern Preparatory School of Watertown, Wisconsin, and Martin Luther Preparatory School of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Martin Luther Preparatory School had been established in 1979 when Martin Luther Academy was moved from its original home on the campus of Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, and when Northwestern Lutheran Academy in Mobridge, South Dakota, was closed. Luther Preparatory School is the successor school to those prep schools which have preceded it and can readily claim the heritage and history of these schools as its own. View full school

  10. Desert Academy has served the Santa Fe community for 25 years. As the first accredited IB World School in Santa Fe, Desert Academy offers an academically challenging, socially engaged, and culturally rich education. We consistently benchmark ourselves against international standards for school improvement through our accreditation by Advanced. a non-profit, non-partisan organization that conducts rigorous, on-site reviews of educational institutions and systems to ensure that all learners realize their full potential. The school community is what makes Desert Academy unique. There is something truly special about Desert Academy, described as “Desertness” by faculty and students. Maybe it's the energy, enthusiasm, commitment, acceptance, and empathy of the students. It might be the way the faculty comes together to encourage risk-taking, innovation, and collaboration, celebrate the individual, and learn from everyone's experiences together. Maybe it's the incredible level of parent involvement and support. Most likely Desertness is a mix of it all, with strong relationships that extend beyond the traditional roles of school-sanctioned ties. Desert Academy was founded in 1994 to provide a caring environment where students could thrive without the typical educational constrictions inherent in public education. The school was first located in Lamy, a small community about 15 miles south of Santa Fe. About 30 students took the train from downtown Santa Fe. In 2001, the school moved to Camino Alire, in the city of Santa Fe. During those years, the school earned a reputation for academic excellence and nurturing, inclusive culture. The core values of open communication and trust in the school’s administrative leaders have remained intact and enabled the school to thrive. As the school’s enrollment grew, Desert moved one final time in 2012 to26 acres on the historic Old Santa Fe Trail. In 2008, Desert Academy adopted the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (grades 11-12) and in 2011 became the first high school in New Mexico to be authorized as an International Baccalaureate World School offering both the Middle Years Program (grades 6 – 10) and the Diploma Program. In recent years, 100 percent of our graduates go on to four-year colleges with an average of $20,000 in scholarships. In 2018, all of our IB diploma graduates were awarded their diplomas with scores far above the international average. Currently, we are a school of 130 students, including international students. At present, over 50% of our population receives some form of tuition assistance, which helps us maintain a high level of diversity. Our parents share the school’s commitment to collaboration, open lines of communication, mutual respect, and a common vision of the school’s goals to be reached. Our faculty and staff are highly educated and experts in their fields, helping students become passionate, serious scholars capable of effective communication, independent thought, meaningful collaboration, and original expression. They also reflect our commitment to global education and international-mindedness former Peace Corps volunteers, faculty with extensive international teaching, or hailing from England, Denmark, France, Italy, China, Croatia, and Mexico. We offer French, Spanish, and Mandarin. Our students travel to Arizona, California, Colorado, Texas, and beyond, with our athletic and speech, and debate teams and abroad with their language teachers or through the Leos Club. We are truly global citizens with Santa Fe hearts. Desert Academy is dedicated to academic and personal excellence. We provide a quality college-preparatory education in a diverse school community, which values individuality, builds character, promotes self-confidence, and fosters global understanding. Desert Academy’s emphasis on the concurrent study of language, literature, humanities, science, mathematics, physical education, and the arts provides continuity of scholarship and cultivates critical thinking skills. Through experiential learning, discussion, investigation, independent research, and writing across the curriculum, students gain competence that will sustain a lifetime of learning. Students are encouraged to acknowledge their responsibility to themselves, their classmates, and the global community. Learning at Desert is not a means to an end, but rather, a bridge to further engagement with the world at large, and as a result, a more meaningful, thoughtful life. Desert Academy at Santa Fe is a diverse community that believes successful education develops basic human values such as respect and integrity. Our curriculum, advisory programs, and school activities embrace differences in gender, race, ethnicity, socio-economic group, sexual identity and orientation, and religious affiliation. We affirm that varying perspectives enrich the life of our school community and the world around us. We strongly believe that academics must not be confined to the classroom and there are many opportunities for students to extend student learning outside the classroom. Our students attend different field trips to prompt interest in topics and consolidate learning. Clubs, too, allow students to forge new interests, as do after-school activities. These activities allow our students to gain an understanding of what it means to live a balanced life, which equals personal well-being according to the IB. In this age of the smartphone, video games, packaged food, and immense competition, activities outside of the classroom act as a counterbalance. So, we strive to foster balanced lifestyles.
  12. From its founding in 1935 to the opening of our York Wing extension in 2015 and beyond, the Lycee Francais de New York has always embraced excellence, innovation, and openness with our students, our raison d'etre. Their learning, growth, and fulfillment are at the center of everything we do as an educational community. Committed to bilingual French and American education of the highest standard, our mission is to prepare students of many origins to be thinkers, innovators, and leaders, at home in the world. We inspire and encourage each student to excel and seek academic and personal challenges, to discover interests and fulfill talents, to embrace diversity and build community, to uphold integrity, and contribute to making a difference. The Lycee Francais de New York is steadfast in its purpose: to prepare our students today to be the thinkers, innovators, and leaders of tomorrow. Our school has always drawn on the strength of our French and American underpinnings to create a unique bilingual, pluricultural learning experience here in New York City. We are forging ahead in providing the most relevant and inspiring education for our students in an interconnected, changing world. Following a process of rigorous self-assessment, we are proud to present a shared vision for the Lycee Francais which sustains excellence and enables our students to fulfill their potential throughout their lives. Our community of parents, faculty, staff, students, and Trustees developed this plan together, building on our school’s core educational mission and objectives. This strategy affirms a path on which the Lycee Francais de New York has already embarked and which identifies what we need to do to remain the best school we can in the years to come. Learning a language is a most rewarding intellectual adventure for young minds. Becoming truly bilingual, especially in our culturally immersive environment, opens students up to other cultures in a genuine way. They gain a deeper understanding of the values, beliefs, and customs of other cultures and an ability to move seamlessly between them. We cannot think of a more valuable preparation for life in our globally connected century. At the Lycee Francais de New York, bilingualism is an inherent part of everyday life for our students. They gain full native fluency in both language and culture, as they move fluidly between our two core languages and cultures in an international environment each day. In the classroom, on the playground, in the field, and on the stage, they engage with native-French and native-English speaking teachers, coaches, leaders and staff, and each other. All of our students are (or become!) bilingual in English and French, and a full 30% speak at least three languages or more. This deep exposure to language and culture offers extraordinary, research-based benefits for students throughout their lives. We like to say that Lycee students are at home in the world, and that starts with the warm, vibrant international community that surrounds them every day, from their classmates, teachers, and staff to our families. Our inclusive learning community is one we work so hard to nurture for the benefit of our students, who are truly our raison d’etre. Our curriculum combines aspects of our two core academic traditions of France and the United States to create a stimulating bilingual learning environment that focuses on student learning, development, and well-being and unleashes the creative potential of every student. Innovation in project-based learning, STEAM, language learning, the arts, and cultural instruction is designed to enhance and deepen our rigorous curriculum. At the Secondary level (grades 6-12), intense preparation for the French Baccalaureate joins both in-class and extracurricular intellectual explorations to prepare students for our complex 21st-century world. The Lycee attracts education leaders from across the globe, with an emphasis on French-educated teachers, language instructors from their home countries, and open-minded U.S. instructors looking to challenge students — and themselves — in our unique cross-cultural setting. Our instructors get to know our students as inquisitive and developing young children and adults. Activities like our dialogue hours in the Secondary School, akin to office hours at the college level, means that doors are always open to keep the spirited conversation going. While we don’t know what the future holds, we do know that adept, adaptable individuals with a technology facility will succeed in it. Our program integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) across curriculums and at all grade levels. The Lycee is committed to smartly enmeshing STEAM with dedicated personnel in our Makerspace and Media Lab and through the activities of our science program and Cultural Center. Our students can count on professionals to help them pursue their passions and foster creativity and collaboration. View full school

Led by a commitment to the common good, we strive to do what is right -- even when nobody is looking. Hard work and self-discipline are essential components for success. Marshall challenges students to develop a strong work ethic and the internal motivation to persevere through times of challenge. Marshall encourages students’ natural inquisitiveness and wonders about the world. Asking questions and taking risks is as important as searching for the right answer. With the desire and courage to move confidently into the future, students can adapt to an ever-changing future in pursuit of their dreams. This notion of gain is something independent school families understand and embrace. It is why independent schools offer so many activities and commit to keeping class sizes small. More than 70% of high school students attend a school with an enrollment greater than 1000. Typically, at those schools, students have to choose between arts and athletics. A decade ago, 73% of public school students quit sports by the start of high school. For these students, doors shut on the opportunity, robbing students of the gain. By contrast, many independent school students try new sports and new activities after the start of high school. This summer, fifty Marshall students demonstrated language skills they had gained while traveling abroad in Germany, France, and Colombia. Studies show that independent schools students start language study earlier, stay with language study longer and graduate with significantly higher rates of proficiency than their public school peers. Independent school students also start the Algebra sequence earlier and, therefore, are more likely to complete Pre-Calculus. On average, students at independent schools write papers more frequently, do presentations more frequently, collaborate more frequently, and hold leadership positions at a higher rate—and each of these is an opportunity to demonstrate understanding. Simply put, opportunities to demonstrate new understandings abound at Marshall. And with each new opportunity, students derive more confidence. From the sixth grade play to Genius Hour, from Menogyn to Senior Projects, our students are asked to gain a full complement of skills and understandings. This expectation to participate is a norm in our student community, which is important because adolescents emulate what they see. So if you are asked about the value of independent education, think of the concert anecdote. Families who invest in independent education have greater assurance that their children will experience “high gain.” It is nearly impossible to attend a school like Marshall without branching out and trying new things. Participation and engagement are the life habits we inculcate. View full school
