  1. Geelong Lutheran College, located in the Armstrong Creek development, is a co-educational Primary and Secondary school offering students education from Prep to Year 12. The Lutheran Education system is the most extensive non-government education system outside of the Catholic school system, providing over 30,000 students across Australia. Lutheran education has a long and proud tradition of education since 1839, springing from a robust Lutheran desire to educate their children within a Christian context. Today, Lutheran schools enroll students from a wide-range of faith backgrounds across all denominations. Lutheran Schools are well-known for their quality, values-based Christian education. Located within the growing Armstrong Creek precinct, our school is a very modern, Prep-Year 12 co-educational College offering a welcoming, lively, and friendly Christian environment. At the heart of the College, since we opened in 2009, is our focus on providing a quality, Christian education for the Greater Geelong and Surf Coast community. We are blessed to have commenced our school from St John's Lutheran School's foundation and ethos, Geelong. Our particular focus is on the whole child, especially the needs of individual students, emphasizing the social/emotional, academic, physical, and spiritual dimensions. We have a diverse student cohort and encourage student enrolment applications from a wide range of backgrounds. We are pleased to offer a comprehensive bus service transport option for students to travel to and from our school. We believe that it is essential that our students feel safe at school so that their learning opportunities can be at an optimal level. Geelong Lutheran College strives for high academic standards to help all students realize their potential and develop their interests. Our outstanding staff is very committed to supporting our students and their ongoing development. Essential to our College is our relationship with God, in the context of the Gospel, where each student is valued and accepted as a child of God. Relationships are an essential part of our Geelong Lutheran College culture, so we use the Restorative Practice model to manage our students' behavior. We offer a range of activities: co-curricular, including sport and music, and extra-curricular, including service-learning and debating. 2. The College provides opportunities for students to maximize their potential personally and academically. The College aims to develop in students and deliver to society young people who can discern what is right, developing the knowledge and skills to commit themselves to action for a better society. The ability to demonstrate initiative, self-discipline, integrity, and compassion in their life style. The ability to withstand peer, and other pressures, demonstrating resilience. That students are prepared to work hard and strive for success in personal life, further education, and employment. That students have had the opportunity to discover the truth of the Gospel of Jesus as well as the nature of God. That student may choose to have a relationship with Him, living in the service of God. Geelong Baptist College is committed to the following principles outlined in the College aims, motto, and core values. The College Affirmation is an amalgamation of these principles. At Geelong Baptist College, we are genuinely interested in each student's well-being, and we aim to see students reach their full potential academically, physically, and spiritually. We hope that every student will be exposed to a wide range of educational experiences while at the College. Students will be encouraged to use every opportunity to develop their skills and talents safely and in a caring environment. Students will be exposed to new challenges throughout their time at the College, and new expectations will be placed upon them. It is essential for students to receive a well-balanced education and to be challenged both within the classroom academically as well as outside the mainstream classroom. These opportunities and challenges are designed to build character and help to develop students for the world outside the College. As a College, we know that the relationship and partnerships forged between home and the school are paramount to our success as parents and educators. We seek to maximize the teaching and learning opportunities for each child through creating and maintaining safe, happy environments where there is an atmosphere conducive to learning. For this reason, we seek to encourage parents and staff to pursue effective ways of building and maintaining open lines of communication. As a professional team of educators and administrators, we are here to serve in an environment in which teachers have the opportunity to teach, and students have the right to learn. Our core values are synonymous with those of the beautiful families who have chosen to send their children to Geelong Baptist. As a community, our commitment to each child's holistic development Academically, Physically, Emotionally, and Spiritually is significant. Geelong Baptist College is a growing community with approximately 300 students across the Primary and Secondary campuses. We encourage all to see our educational community as "Two Schools yet One College" – a College in which students can journey from Foundation right through to graduation after Year Twelve. The benefit of an extended and personal journey of this nature cannot be underestimated. We are acutely aware that your child's education decisions are difficult to make yet are amongst the most important decisions you will make as a parent. View full school
  3. Our goal is to help students identify fully with God's purpose and meaning of their lives – so they can directly contribute to making our world a better place. At our College, we call this doing 'good work' – and along with our five core values of Faith, Grace, Hope, Love, and Truth – this provides the foundation for our Vision Statement: "At the end of their journey at Christian College, our students will be ready to make a positive difference to the lives of others, through 'good work' that is excellent, ethical and engaged in local, national and global contexts." A successful student at our College is not merely one who gets a good job and is blessed with wealth and possessions. Nor is a student's time with us defined by a 'score' at the end of their studies. We believe education is a growth journey, where students transform into not only good learners but good people. Our College promotes 'serving,' hoping to inspire students to make life better for other people, not just themselves. Our students are encouraged to become active participants in their educational journey. They are given greater autonomy to learn and a voice to direct where that learning might seek relevance. Christian College Geelong began in 1980 from humble beginnings, when a single wing of the St Augustine's Orphanage in Highton was leased to create a small school of 60 students, with classes from Prep to Year 10. Despite a small number of enrolments in the foundation years, the College's Board, families, and staff always maintained a strong faith that Christian College would grow into a significant addition to the educational landscape of the Geelong region, as so it would eventually come to fruition. As enrolments grew, the opportunity arose in 1987 to purchase the buildings and playing fields at the original grounds in Highton, now known as our Middle School – Highton, and Christian College then became a pilot school for the introduction of VCE studies. Our five core values underpin the expectations of all interactions within our College. HOPE is moving forward with assurance, regardless of circumstances. Our students will face many challenges on the path to achieving their goals; HOPE gives us the character and resilience needed to face them. FAITH is complete trust in God's promises. As our students search for their own identity in a confusing world, they can always have FAITH in God's plan for them. LOVE is seeking to serve and honor others ahead of ourselves. Our students are encouraged to be selfless in their interactions with others, thus emulating the LOVE God has for them. GRACE is the secret to real joy and gladness of heart. In the face of greed and envy, GRACE allows our students to treat others with compassion, as they aim for a higher purpose - God's purpose. TRUTH is freedom, the key that unlocks wisdom and maturity. The TRUTH protects our students' hearts and minds from falsehoods so that they can find true meaning and happiness. Our College believes transformative learning happens when you go 'beyond the curriculum.' Embracing 21st-century learning in every way, our College is continually challenging how we teach our students – making education less about the teacher at the front of the classroom and more about our teachers being facilitators for our learners. Ground-breaking concepts such as 'Building Learning Power,' where students take ownership of their intellectual development, and 'MYTEEN,' where students take control of their emotional development, give our young people the chance to guide their personal growth. We not only provide our students with facts and skills, but we also teach them 'how to think.' Whether in classrooms, in our local community, or through the vast array of field trips, camps, or interstate and international tours, our students benefit from real-world, meaningful experiences that enrich their educational journey. Fostering leadership and collaboration between students are two fundamental principles of our approach. These critical qualities are continually promoted and reinforced through students' responsibilities and the innovative teaching activities they are exposed to. Our wide choice of VCE, VET, and VCAL pathways linked to anticipated tertiary studies, our state-of-the-art Sport and Art facilities, and transformative experiences such as our 'Back Creek Farm' Rural Studies and those offered through our renowned Music and Drama programs give our students the chance to explore their God-given gifts and interests to their fullest. Our specialized and dedicated teachers work in a culture where going 'above and beyond' to create the best possible learning environment is the norm. Their caring nature is underpinned by our College values of Faith, Grace, Hope, Love, and Truth. Our College celebrates diversity, understanding that every student's journey is different. They are supported by our trademark pastoral care program, which prepares our young people to meet every year's challenges while helping them explore their Christian faith. View full school
  4. The Geelong College is a Uniting Church coeducational day and boarding school with approximately 1,400 students aged three to eighteen, including 100 boarders. The College is situated on two campuses in central Geelong, southwest of Melbourne, and has strong links to the beautiful surrounding coastal and rural areas. The Geelong College aims to provide an inspiring education where all students can learn how to learn, flourish, be innovative, and aspire to futures that harness their many skills and abilities. We aim for our students to be respectful and to confidently develop their academic, emotional, physical, social and spiritual potential. Geelong College also seeks to provide learning experiences that shape personal development in ways that prepare students to positively contribute to society. Sic itur ad Astra which comes from Virgil’s “Aeneid” Book IX, 641. The full quote is “made nova virtute, puer! (blessing on your new bravery, boy!) sic itur ad Astra” (this is the way to the stars). The youthful God Apollo is addressing young Iulus (the son of Aeneas), who has just shot his bow for the first time in battle and been blessed by Jupiter with a victory. He means to instruct him that this is the way to further success and his destiny. From this, we take Be of Courage. Our students dare to try, speak out, help others, discover, and learn from the past. They develop a good work ethic and values through a broad range of learning experiences that prepare them for a happy and successful life. We inspire students to learn how to learn, to choose innovation, and to flourish in a future where their skills and abilities can be truly harnessed by the world. For this is the way to the stars. The quartered shield depicts an open book representing learning, the Burning Bush symbolizing the Reformed Church faith, a claymore signifying the College's Scottish heritage, and the Southern Cross for Australia. The coronet at the top is the symbol of the British Commonwealth. At the base of the shield is the Motto and at the top of the crest is the mythical Pegasus, taken from the Clan Morrison representing the founders of the school. The College is a special place and has played a role in the development of thousands of students and their families since 1861. We aim to inspire students to learn how to learn, flourish, be innovative, and aspire to futures that harness their many skills and abilities. But it is not just the students who are learning, staff and parents seek challenges and development here at the College. Our students learn to be respectful and courageous, as they develop their academic, emotional, physical, social and spiritual potential and prepare to be positive contributors to society through a broad range of learning experiences. The Reggio Emilia approach to education in the Junior School is a thread in our Vision for Learning for all students from Early Learning to Year 12. Consequently, a truly liberal education that values experiences across Performing and Creative Arts, Science, Humanities, learning outdoors, sports, and a wide range of co-curricular activities is a feature of College. We believe passionately in coeducation. The world is actively inclusive and diverse, just like College. Ours is a place where children thrive - girls and boys together in learning, living, growing, working collaboratively, exchanging ideas, and learning from each other to develop a greater understanding of self and others. Through this, our students have a strong sense of belonging. The College is associated with the Uniting Church. We seek to prepare young men and women to be leaders in their communities, who can connect the Christian faith, their spirituality, and their planned contribution to our world. While we are a Christian school, we value freedom and choice by respecting the rights of all people to live by other faith traditions. We engage in conversations as we learn together to accept the individual beliefs of others which shape their convictions and commitments.

  7. An independent Anglican co-educational boarding and day school, Geelong Grammar School boasts a reputation as a pioneer of modern education. From its origins in 1855, the School has always had a distinctive character. After outgrowing several Geelong locations the School moved to a 245-hectare site on the edge of Corio Bay in 1914, creating the unique learning and living environment that exists today. In 1953 it established Timbertop, a remote campus in the foothills of the Victorian Alps inspired by the philosophies of German educator Kurt Hahn. Timbertop exposes the School’s Year 9 students to intellectual, physical, and emotional challenges under demanding environmental conditions, where they connect to their strengths, develop confidence, and learn the value of cooperative endeavor. The School became co-educational in the early 1970s, preparing students for the dynamic of the modern world through enabling boys and girls to live and learn alongside each other. It is now Australia’s largest co-educational boarding school. Spread across four campuses, it has a non-selective enrolment policy and approximately 1,500 students from Early Learning to Year 12, including more than 800 boarders. The School introduced its transformational Positive Education program in 2009. Developed from the science of Positive Psychology in collaboration with Professor Martin Seligman and his team from the University of Pennsylvania, Positive Education focuses on cultivating positive emotions and character traits, encouraging students to find purpose and lead engaged and meaningful lives. More than 300 Geelong Grammar School staff have taken part in intensive residential training courses and Positive Education is taught at each year level, at every campus, and across all aspects of school life. Explicit teaching is delivered in Years 7, 8, 9, and 10 through specific Positive Psychology programs written by the world’s leading research psychologists and developed in collaboration with experienced classroom teachers. Studies over the past 20 years suggest that these explicit Positive Psychology programs lead students to have increased levels of creativity, better critical thinking skills, and increased levels of positive emotion. They also have significant impacts on depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders. View full school
