- The school aims to create a broad, balanced, and relevant education for all pupils, in a safe and caring atmosphere. Burry Port is a small seaside town, some five miles to the west of Llanelli. The area is developing economically, with recent developments in the field of tourism and leisure. ICT is regarded as a valuable tool that promotes a learning partnership that includes pupils, staff, governors, parents, carers, and the whole community. Our school website aims to promote this vision as part of learning within and beyond the school in the 21st century. Every pupil and member of staff in the school has a Hwb account. Hwb provides a secure learning platform for pupils to use a range of ICT tools and to communicate safely. Hwb includes Microsoft Office 365 tools, including email, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. We use Hwb to work on the curriculum in school and pupils can also access their learning at home. Hwb is funded by Welsh Government and is available free to all schools in Wales. At Burry Port Community Primary School, we welcome, value, and respect everyone. We love to learn and be the best that we can be, challenging and supporting each other along the way. The aims of the school are to: Acquire and apply knowledge, skills, and attitudes relevant to the changing digital world in which they live. Develop enterprising, enquiring minds solving problems and communicate ideas and concepts effectively. Work creatively, independently, and collaboratively Evaluate learning to achieve the highest standards possible across the curriculum Learn to understand manage and express emotions appropriately Respect and value themselves, other people, and the environment To develop motivation and ambition, self-confidence, and high self-esteem Extend and challenge in mind, body, and spirit to be healthy, confident individuals Take responsibility for own actions and make informed choices To recognize ourselves as ethical, informed citizens of Wales the wider world, communicating in Welsh and English Play an active role in the community to prepare pupils for adult life and life-long learning.
