At Crosslee, education is about learners experiencing the joy of discovery, solving problems, being creative throughout and beyond the curriculum, and developing their self-confidence as learners whilst maturing socially, and becoming emotionally literate. This school endeavors to combine high standards with a broad, balanced, and rich curriculum that hooks children into their learning with a high priority on excellence and enjoyment. Learners are excited and engaged and enjoy what they are doing, learning to love learning in a positive ethos of nurture, care, and respect. The qualities of self-motivation, independence, and resourcefulness will be the aim for all our learners as we inspire them to develop high aspirations in their future lives. Crosslee Community Primary School’s Admission Policy is following the policy set by the LA. Our admissions figure, allocated by the LA is 60 per year group up to Year 2, and 45 from Year 3-6. Apart from Nursery, all places are now allocated through the LA and not directly by the school. If you require a Nursery place you must apply directly to the school. The Headteacher is responsible for allocating places, using the procedures set out below for Nursery Admission. The Nursery has provision for 52 full-time places. Admissions to Nursery do not come on a first-come-first-served basis. Therefore, the date at which you put a child’s name down does not affect the position on the list. Part-time / Full-time places in Nursery are allocated in line with the LA policy. Children who are already in our Nursery will automatically be sent a pack from Manchester Children’s services to apply for a place in Reception. The staff at Crosslee aim to make their teaching of the curriculum stimulating and relevant to the children and to provide as many practical first-hand experiences as possible. All children are different in terms of ability, maturity, and personality and have different learning needs. We must offer our pupils a broad and balanced curriculum which gives all children a chance to succeed. All children are supported by a range of teaching and learning strategies that allow them to take full advantage of school provision. Our curriculum aims to prepare our children with the skills and knowledge needed for success in their future lives. In the EYFS children are allowed to work towards achieving early learning goals. There are seven areas of learning and development that shape the educational programs in the early years at Crosslee. All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships, and thrive. Crosslee Primary School seeks to develop the full potential of each child, recognizing the uniqueness of each individual. We aim to provide a relevant broad-based curriculum within a caring environment in which all children can develop towards their full potential regardless of ability. At Crosslee it is the belief that all children have an equal right to a full and rounded education which will enable them to achieve their full potential. We use our best endeavors to secure special educational provision for pupils for whom this is required, that is ‘additional to and different from that provided within the differentiated curriculum to better respond to the four areas of need identified in the new Code of Practice. Our Governors bring different areas of expertise to Crosslee Community Primary School. The Governor’s role is to support and challenge the senior staff to continually improve the school. Governors do this through undertaking visits, sitting on committees, giving professional advice, and asking to probe and challenging questions of leaders within the school. They have a vital role to play in driving the school forward and the performance of its pupils, ensuring that resources are used well to give every child the best possible education. They are a key part of the overall system for school accountability. Governors are also responsible for overseeing the Head teacher’s performance management in doing this they contribute directly to shaping the strategic direction of the school. We continue to encourage parents to keep up to date with safety by providing workshops. We hosted a workshop for all parents and carers. This was about keeping your child safe online and using social media. It highlighted the importance of being vigilant with technology. Thank you for your attendance, we are working together to prevent future incidents. The identification and assessment of the special educational needs of children whose first language is not English require particular care. Where there is uncertainty about a particular child, a teacher will look carefully at all aspects of the child’s performance in different subjects to establish whether the problems are due to limitations in their command of English or arises from special educational needs.
