Here at Cheetham Church of England Community Academy, we believe that a school is a place of learning for everyone and that we learn best when we feel safe, when we respect one another and when we work as a team. Admission arrangements for Cheetham Church of England Community Academy are set by the Academy Trust, who are the Admission Authority for this establishment. They are responsible for drafting, consulting on, and determining their admission arrangements, and it was agreed that this would be done by the local authority on behalf of the academy. All parents/carers are required to apply to their home LA regardless of where the school/academy they are applying to is situated. Manchester residents will apply to Manchester LA. The LA will liaise with other Admissions Authorities in Manchester and other LAs where required. Manchester LA will inform parents/carers in writing of the outcome of their application. We also believe that pupils’ difficulties in learning or reluctance to learn may be caused by such things as demotivation, fear of failure, and the impact of managing feelings on behavior, rather than by lack of ability. Our diverse community is reflected and celebrated in our curriculum, through which we can build excellent communication and life skills, enabling our children to achieve and become confident, tolerant, respectful adults. In our school faith is valued and we aim to enrich spiritual development so that our children understand who they are about the environment, the school the local and global communities. Through a relentless focus on continuous development, we strive to enable all our learners to achieve and develop a passion for learning Here at Cheetham, we follow a carefully planned E-safety curriculum to ensure that children are taught skills and knowledge progressively throughout their time at school. Each teacher adopts the following guidelines to ensure it is relevant and appropriate for the children in their class. E-safety is not only taught in dedicated lessons but woven into the curriculum each time children have access to technology. At Cheetham Church of England Community Academy, we are committed to the inclusion of all children and Special Educational Needs as part of our School Development Plan. We aim to make our SEN provision a model of excellent practice. The school has a strong SEND support network. Cheetham Church of England Community Academy is an inclusive place of learning where diversity is both welcomed and celebrated. We have caring, well-trained staff who value the unique qualities, gifts, and potential of each child. The SEND Support Team at Cheetham includes a member of the school’s leadership team, sped teacher, a Speech and language therapist, and several SEN teaching assistants who are trained in various courses and the different SEN needs. Our SEN policy outlines the school’s commitment to SEN to ensure the highest quality provision for all our pupils. All staff understands the importance of self-esteem as a basis for emotional well-being and academic progress. We do all we can to ensure that our pupils learn in a secure environment and that they experience acceptance, reassurance, and opportunity. All pupils in our Academy receive quality first teaching. This means that a range of teaching and learning styles are used and that appropriate learning objective are set for all children with a curriculum matched to their needs. View full school
