Assiut University is located in the capital city of Assiut governorate in Upper Egypt. Assiut is the largest city in Upper Egypt and lies about 375assiut map Kilometers south of Cairo. The governorate's total area covers 1553 square kilometers, of which the city of Assiut occupies around 23 sq Km. With such an area, Assiut comes first among upper Egyptian capital cities. Assiut and ancient civilization had been rooted in the depth of history, and its monuments indicate that it had been one of the vanguards of culture, industry, and the arts for more than 4000 years BC. It is one of the oldest cities in the whole world. Leadership in constructing a community of knowledge by offering outstanding education, advanced research, and society enhancement activities. Support and encouragement for university colleges and institutes to apply for accreditation. Assiut University Faculty of Medicine (AUFOM) was established in 1960. Being the oldest medical school in Upper Egypt, AUFOM serves as Upper Egypt largest academic health complex that combines medical education, biomedical research, patient care, and community outreach services. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine one of the most prominent faculties at Assuit University, and it has been established by Ministerial Decision No. 828 in 1961. The study started in the 1961/1962 academic year, with hard work and distinguished service techniques. The Faculty of Physical Education was established in 1980 as the first Faculty for physical Education in Upper Egypt to prepare qualified graduates specialized in academic knowledge and training to serve citizens in the cultural and physical education institutions. Relying on its talented human resources and facilities, the Faculty offers distinctive academic programs. It is similarly distinct by its graduate programs and environment and community service. Faculty of Commerce, Assiut University is an educational and research institution specializing in accounting, business administration, economics, insurance, and Political Sciences. It offers a variety of programs and courses of study and advanced training in such fields. The Faculty aims at providing opportunities for scientific research, graduate studies, and continuous education for students in Egypt and the Arab world. There are several places of tourist attractions in Assiut Governorate. These essential tourist sites are the ancient graves and tombs of Mir rock, Badari archaeological sites, Al Muharraq Monastery at al Qusyia, the Monastery of Virgin Mary, and some ancient mosques and churches belonging to ancient times. Of relatively modern attractions are the Assiut barrages, Khan Khalili Factory, Al Azhar University, and Environmental Timber Fair. There are two libraries in the Faculty, one on the second floor for the students and the other on the 6th floor for staff members and their assistants. They are located in the administrative building. Both libraries contain about 23960 books in different pharmaceutical branches. The postgraduate library contains about 1680 thesis (Master and Ph.D.) in pharmaceutical sciences. About 83 journals and periodicals in pharmaceutical sciences are present in the postgraduate library. It is considered one of the biggest libraries in the University.
