  4. Midlands Primary School has been successfully educating children since 1952. Our children are expected to work hard and achieve their very best. They are taught by talented staff who are caring and friendly, and who have high expectations of children and themselves. Our children are the key to the success of our school. We aim to ensure they are motivated by learning and offered the best opportunities that we can provide. We hope that they will be respectful and well-behaved individuals, who develop high self-esteem and independence. We value academic and personal success and provide a range of additional support to ensure equality of opportunity. The development of literacy, numeracy, and good work habits are given high priority in Midlands. However, we are also committed to providing a rich, diverse curriculum: music and the arts set alongside our comprehensive extra-curricular program are key elements of this. Midlands has a crucial part to play within the Ham and North Kingston community we want to ensure that our children understand the part that they can play as citizens within it. Ofsted also commented on our “very strong links with parents” – crucial to the partnership that home and school must have to support each child's development. We are a one-form-entry primary school set in the heart of the Ham community. We admit 30 children per year into our Reception class. As a community primary school, we follow the London Borough of Richmond admissions policy and procedures. We also have a delightful Nursery, which admits children in either morning or afternoon fully funded places and also part-funded full-time places. Occasionally, Richmond Admissions can request that we go above our normal class size of 30. We dream big and we never rest on our laurels or stop developing, improving, and innovating our curriculum to ensure we are delivering the new skills and knowledge that our children will need in the future. We know our children extremely well. At Midlands learning is personalized and develops the children’s strengths and interests, we break down barriers and difficulties that the children might come across along the way. Our children make outstanding progress in their lessons. They are proud of themselves and each other. The children, parents, staff, leaders, and governors all strive for continuous improvement. Everyone is encouraged. Everyone is invited to contribute. Our school is a harmonious place to be, where dreaming is nurtured because our children know that with hard work and kindness, every dream is possible. At Midlands, the Full Governing Body comprises 13 governors, including parents, teachers, volunteers from the local authority, and the community. We are an energetic and ambitious group that works together to provide independent oversight of the management and operation of the school, to improve the quality of education provided, and to raise standards. At Midlands, we work with other schools and providers in Achieving for Children and beyond. The children learn the important values of the Horse Rangers Association, the importance of respect and kindness when looking after animals. They learn how to feed, muck out, groom the horses and the day culminates in an hour ride in Bushy Park. At Midlands, we are committed to providing a unique curriculum filled with experiences that enthuse, engage, and challenge our children. We have a rich program of school trips to different places of interest and activities as well as visitors to our school. Our standards in English, Maths, Science and Computing are extremely high alongside this we value the Arts, Sport, Outdoor Learning, Citizenship, and SMSC. Being a small school, we know the children well we seek out and nurture their talents and interests. Pupils are encouraged to be active members of our school by taking on significant roles such as becoming members of the Junior Leadership Team, Class Ambassadors, or Peer Mediator. During assemblies the children have the chance to learn about different religious traditions and celebrations, they deepen their understanding of healthy living, mark British cultural traditions, and celebrate everything great about Midlands! We also hold yearly class assemblies, Christmas performances, Easter, Harvest, and Mothering Sunday assemblies. We welcome visitors into the school to lead assemblies. Recently our guest speakers have been from Ham Youth Centre presenting the importance of E-Safety, the local police force, representatives from RUILS disability awareness, and Merlin the dog from the Pets As Therapy group. 6. We are a happy, hard-working community with a simple core belief: at Mead Road, we are “small enough for everyone to count”. We have a whole-child approach to teaching and learning which means we strive not only for high academic standards but also for the development of each child’s social, emotional, behavioral, moral, and communicative skills too. We offer a varied and exciting curriculum designed to engage and enthuse our little learners, inspiring them, we hope, to begin a lifelong thirst for discovery and knowledge. We want to open their eyes to “awe and wonder” through the experiences we give them, encouraging them to be inquisitive, creative, and confident people. We are very lucky to be set within beautiful grounds in the heart of Chislehurst. Our children benefit from space to run and play, and from being surrounded by nature. Forest School sessions are a firm favorite for lots of our mini-explorers! Mead Road Infant School creates confident, independent learners within a happy, inspiring, challenging environment, where children can reach their full potential. We achieve our vision through: A dedicated team committed to providing excellence Challenging and valuing all children Outstanding teaching with good subject knowledge Instilling confidence in our pupils Creating an atmosphere of respect for all Creating a diverse range of opportunities and experience Providing a modern approach to teaching Establishing and encouraging communication with all our stakeholders Our staff team is dedicated, talented, and enthusiastic about providing the best start to education we possibly can. We are also very fortunate to have very supportive parents and carers, many of whom are involved in the life of the school in some way. Our Governing Body is committed to continual review and constructive challenge so that we maintain high standards and effectively identify and rectify areas for improvement. As part of the William Willett Learning Trust, we are also supported by a wider network that offers us expertise, educational opportunities, and enrichment possibilities. Children deserve the highest quality teaching and learning experiences to enable them to begin their learning journey effectively. We treat all our children as individuals, recognizing that they all have differing needs. Success is best achieved when there is a partnership between home and school we pride ourselves on the “family feel” at Mead Road and value the important contributions parents make to their child’s education. We also firmly believe that children need to feel safe and happy to learn. Mead Road is a place where every child is valued and treasured. Equality is essential, mutual respect is expected and trust grows such that our children feel able to express themselves, take risks and “learn to fly”. The National Curriculum comprises core and foundation subjects. The three major core subjects are English, mathematics, and science and these take up a larger share of curriculum teaching time. The foundation subjects are art and design, computing (previously Information and Communications Technology, or ICT), design and technology, geography, history, music, physical education, and religious education. As we are a small school most children are allowed to participate in a variety of sports including dance, jujitsu, gymnastics, and multi-skills. Our curriculum will be taught with the consideration of the needs of all learners. It will be exciting and will inspire children to nurture a passion for learning. View full school

We have a reputation for being a very friendly school. By joining us you will also be part of creating that friendly atmosphere at our school. Parents and carers can arrange to meet with Teachers and Teaching Assistants at any time throughout the year. We have more formal meetings for parents at different points during the school year. We have 355 pupils on roll. Our school is well staffed with talented and committed staff. Each class has a full-time Teaching Assistant. At Mayflower, we take seriously our responsibility to prepare children for life as active participants in modern British society. British Values are actively shared and promoted amongst children across the school and opinions and behaviors contrary to these values are consistently challenged. In particular PATHS, P4C, and RE lessons provide children with opportunities to deepen and develop their understanding of British Values. As part of our Mayflower Citizens project, children are enabled to engage with and learn about people from different backgrounds and contribute to their local and wider communities. Children are encouraged to make positive choices in their learning and behavior in a safe and supportive environment. Children are supported to make a positive contribution to our local and global communities through trips and links with other schools. As part of our Mayflower Citizens project, each class will take part in a volunteering project to contribute to our local area. Whole school-themed weeks, assemblies, and charity events raise awareness of the difference we can make in the world, supporting national and local charities. Our school’s vision runs through our curriculum. We strive for excellence in learning and want all our pupils to be successful learners. We are constantly searching for new and innovative ways to make learning more exciting. We want everyone at Mayflower to enjoy the sense of adventure learning brings and to discover how learning changes lives. We have high expectations of ourselves and all our learners. We encourage pupils and staff to be problem solvers with a ‘can-do attitude. We make use of our city so that pupils experience and feel part of London. We enable our pupils to understand they are citizens of a wider global community. We make sure our school is an inclusive, stimulating environment that reflects and celebrates our creative learning. Our curriculum is Literacy rich and designed to give our pupils local and global knowledge within a broad and balanced curriculum. Our topics are based on excellent books, storytelling, and visits. This helps put children’s learning in context and also brings learning alive. We want pupils to be talking about their learning and asking questions that shape the learning in their class. We want pupils to persevere, and reflect on learning, to go back and improve their work. We offer a wide range of learning opportunities beyond the school day which change each half term. We have before school, lunchtime and after school clubs which include art, music, drama, dance, sports, booster classes, computer, reading, and modern foreign languages. Pupils choose the area of learning which appeals to them and learn something new for half term. These experiences give pupils new interests and help them to lead healthier lives. Current clubs include: touch typing for KS1 and 2, drumming, wrestling, Bengali and Spanish, Art, ballet, football, table tennis, and science.

  20. At Mauldeth Road Primary School we actively promote a strong set of values. We are required to have a set of the British values that we promote here on our website. However, the children felt that 'shared values' might be a better name. We aim to create a calm, stimulating, and enjoyable learning environment in which children may: Achieve to their full potential. Understand others and respect their beliefs. Care for themselves, their environment, and their community. The school is situated in a pleasant, leafy suburb some four miles from the center of Manchester, close to the Owen's Park area. This is a popular school that enjoys the confidence of parents and carers in the very diverse local community it serves. The school's community has a rich ethnic mix which is represented by the pupils. A proportion of these pupils arrive at school with no English or speaking English as a second language. Children generally start in the Nursery in the school year during which their fourth birthday falls. They stay until the next September when they form part of a single intake into Reception. Please note that to get a reception place, parents MUST apply to Manchester City Council, even if the child is already in the school nursery. To help the children to learn from direct and vivid experiences, they are taken out of school on study visits to enhance their learning. These study visits widen the children’s educational experiences and are not to be confused with day trips! We also bring people into school to talk to and entertain the children, again giving them educational experiences, which broaden their understanding of the world. We regularly hold themed Super Learning Days, where we suspend the normal timetable and work on thinking skills to promote children's awareness of how best they can learn. We also hold termly Art days, and an annual Learning to Learn Week and Book Week. We also teach children Circus Skills, through sessions delivered, to all age groups, at the end of each term. Visits include visits from a variety of people including Theatre Companies, authors, The Fire Service, Railway Police, and Greater Manchester Police Force. During our Aspirations Week, a range of speakers come and talk to children in Years 5 and 6 about their experiences of life, work, and education. We have had university students, lawyers, medics, sound engineers, cartoonists, TV producers, Olympians, company directors, and scientists. We have had visits from former pupils in a range of jobs, including a dentist, a film director, and a professional musician. The theme of citizenship also recurs throughout our teaching and runs alongside our enrichment work. This work aims to provide the children with experiences that will give them an understanding and awareness of the way society works and the contribution they can expect to make. Each year children are elected to join our School Council, where they can debate issues raised by others, directly or through class suggestion boxes. It is vital that all children are kept safe from harm and the staff are vigilant in trying to play their part in this. It is a fundamental duty that anyone working with children follows up on any concerns that arise around a child. Sometimes, to satisfy ourselves that a child is safe from harm, we need to make a referral to Children's Services. It is their job to properly investigate concerns and to provide support where necessary. It is ours to flag up concerns. Sometimes these will prove to be founded and sometimes they will be not. We hope that you will understand that any referral made is only done so in the best interests of your child. If you wish to share a concern about a child, then please make an appointment to see Mrs. Cain (the school's designated teacher for safeguarding) in confidence. We like to think that we instill good, positive values into our children at Mauldeth Road Primary School. By Government requirements, we list below the 'British Values' that we promote. However, when we discussed our values with the children, we decided that a better name would be 'Shared Values'. Why? When we started to talk about our values, we found that there is nothing exclusively 'British' about them. They are just those values that we would all wish our children to share! We ran a poster competition, this year, and will be inserting a link here to some of the winning entries very soon. All governors make a declaration of any pecuniary or relationship interests that they have in the school at the start of each meeting. None have been declared. The full Governing Body of all members meets 6 times a year, once each half term. Three of the meetings are pure “business meetings” and the other three are “discussion” or training meetings when more time is given to such topics as the new curriculum, safeguarding, academisation, etc. View full school

  24. Established in 1959, Mathilda Marks-Kennedy Jewish Primary School is named after Mathilda Marks. Mathilda Marks was the daughter of Michael Marks, founder of Marks and Spencer. She was renowned as a philanthropist and was particularly generous towards educational and medical causes. She was married late in life to Terence Kennedy and had no children of her own, but her legacy lives on through generations of MMK children. The school was originally in Golders Green, where it was known to many parents and pupils as Barclay House. The school relocated to its current site in Mill Hill in 1989 and became a voluntary aided state school in 1999. Our one form entry school caters to 220 children from Nursery to Year Six. We have been consistently listed as one of the top-performing schools in Barnet. MMK plays an important role within Mill Hill’s Jewish community. Our Jewish identity and love of Israel are reflected in the ethos and values of our School. We also embrace important British values of tolerance and respect, acknowledging our diverse society. As a one-form entry school, we can provide a nurturing environment and unique opportunities for every pupil. We pride ourselves on having a caring and dedicated team of teachers and staff and work collaboratively with our parent body and governors to ensure that every child is valued and achieves their potential. MMK is an ambitious and high-achieving School, continuously working to encourage and promote academic excellence and maximum progress for every pupil. We aim to deliver an outstanding education across both the National Curriculum and Jewish Studies Curriculum. As we view children holistically, we attach great importance to their personal development, both as individuals and as part of the School and wider community. To this end, we provide many enrichment and extracurricular activities, which we believe help the children to develop into well-rounded pupils. Mathilda Marks-Kennedy Jewish Primary School aims to provide high-quality experiences in all aspects of education and school life, within an atmosphere where respect for the individual enables each of our pupils to flourish academically, emotionally, and personally. We believe that this will enable children to develop into young people who are fulfilled and secure, socially aware, and able to make a positive contribution to society and our community. We aim to do this in the context of a warm and welcoming Jewish environment so that our children will develop authentic Jewish values and a love of Jewish learning within a modern world. We see Zionism and a love of the State of Israel as important factors in our lives. We also promote and embrace a multi-cultural, tolerant, and respectful Britain. View full school
