Moss Hall Infant School is a four-form entry community day school for children between the ages of 4 and 7 years. The school is a one-story building that welcomes and is fully accessible to pupils with a wide range of additional needs. We have a strong commitment to inclusion and our school serves a community that is socially, culturally, and linguistically diverse. We consider this diversity to be an asset, which enriches the educational experience we can offer our children.

Moss Hall Infant School endeavors to be a school where diversity is embraced and where children thrive in a secure, happy, and creative environment. There is a commitment to high expectations and good early years practice to ensure the achievement of high standards for all and where the school community works together to achieve the school aims. Our curriculum is practical, meaningful, and fun and the experiences children have at the school enable them to be confident and happy learners. We build the children’s experience on our clear rules and aims.
We have a positive approach to behavior and we believe that encouragement and praise are vital in helping children to develop a positive self-image. Our code of conduct is supported by a system of rewards for positive behavior, including sharing good work with other children in the class, the whole school in assembly, and with the Head Teacher. We have high expectations of the children and expect them to be well mannered, show respect and consideration for one another, and to take care of the school environment. We want children to develop self-discipline, understand how other people feel, and show respect for property. Some children experience difficulties co-operating in the larger school community from time to time. When a child has difficulties, we endeavor to solve the problem with parents and carers co-operation. In extreme cases, the Head Teacher has the right to exclude a child. In cases of appeal, the Governors would be involved
At Moss Hall, we have a strong commitment to meeting the needs of all children. Many children need extra help at school at one time or another. We work in partnership with parents and carers so we can support any additional needs a child may have. Children with Special Educational Needs and Additional Needs follow the school curriculum as far as they are able. We have a non-class-based Assistant Head / Inclusion Manager, who works closely with staff and parents, and carers to devise appropriate programs of learning for the children. We often work with specialists from other services to support the children’s learning. We also identify and support children who are more able and provide extension and enrichment activities for them.
We take school security very seriously. We have one main entrance situated in Moss Hall Grove where visitors will be greeted by our school administrator. All other doors to the school are locked throughout the school day. All staff and visitors working with children must complete a ‘Working in School’ workshop, which ensures that children only work with approved adults. They must also wear a visitors badge while on the school site.
