  1. Children only have one childhood so it is vitally important that parents and teachers get it right for them. Moreton Hall Preparatory School is where your children will become the best that they can be. Our happy, purposeful, warm atmosphere provides what we believe to be the perfect environment to cultivate aspiration, confidence, and excitement for pupils to learn, not just about the world we live in, but also about themselves as individuals and contributors to the future. Whilst we keep pace with all that children face in the modern world, our founding stones are simple and traditional: strong moral values, mutual respect and to reach for the high expectations we set for ourselves. Our ambition for the pupils of Moreton Hall is the same as it is for all the staff here, simply to be the best that we can be. Moreton Hall founds its provision on three core qualities: that our children feel happy, encouraged, and self-assured. People often tell us about the ‘invisible magic’ they feel when they come to our school and our unique brand of purpose, nurture, and aspiration is certainly a part of this. We truly believe that a prep school education at Moreton Hall will provide your children with the ideal environment in which to develop hearts, minds, and spirits, preparing them fully for life at senior school and beyond. Our school is built on fundamental Catholic values which are embedded in the daily life of our students. We gather each morning in the chapel for assembly to share worship and celebrate our individual and collective achievements students also attend mass throughout the term. Should families wish, children can prepare for and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and their First Holy Communion. We have strong Catholic roots but we welcome and celebrate families of all faiths. 3. Children in Moreland are valued as individuals and have the opportunity to excel. We actively nurture self-belief so children feel they can achieve anything with determination, perseverance, and hard work. We expect all our children to reach age-related levels in line with national expectations as a minimum year on year. We aim to ensure that all barriers to learning are removed so every pupil reaches their full potential. This includes regularly looking at every child’s capacity to achieve more. OUR MISSION: "Reaching higher than I dreamed, becoming the person that I want to be, doing the best I can for the world and me". The Early Years Foundation Stage at Moreland School provides a warm, safe environment, physically, emotionally, and physiologically where children can grow in self-awareness and awareness of others in the context of both the wider community and the learning community at Moreland School. It is a place where all learning is valued and where children can lay the foundations for a lifelong love of learning and reach their potential across the 5 Every Child Matters outcomes staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, economic well-being and making a positive contribution. This happens through: An imaginative and inviting learning environment that provokes curiosity, stimulates inquiry, provides appropriate risk and challenge, encourages independence, allows children to make decisions, and promotes problem-solving. This enables children to become self-motivated learners and to develop the characteristics of effective learning that are essential for success. A curriculum rooted in play that provides children with meaningful, enjoyable, and challenging learning experiences. Developing children’s resilience through a focus on building a “growth mindset”. A key-person system that is underpinned by a knowledge of attachment theory and ensures all children feel emotionally secure and settled and ready to learn. High-quality interactions between adults and all children encourage sustained shared thinking and allow children to reflect on their learning. Close working with parents and carers, recognizing that they are their child’s primary educator and that working together in partnership will provide the best outcomes for children. Children in the toddler room, nursery, and reception follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. This is a framework that supports children’s development from birth to the end of their Reception year. The EYFS is based on 4 important principles. A Unique Child Positive Relationships Enabling Environments Learning and Development We actively teach the skills and knowledge children need to prepare to prepare them for life, as well as the essential attributes of resilience, endurance, and inquiry. For English and Mathematics, we will be following the New National Curriculum whilst still adopting a unit-based approach, e.g. in English, pupils will spend several weeks immersed in a particular text type like adventure stories. In Maths, the children will be following the Singapore Maths approach to learning and they may spend a week or so learning about a topic like fractions or shape. The Singapore approach will enable children to think more deeply about mathematical concepts and allow them the opportunity to practice, consolidate, apply their learning and understanding confidently. and All will be in line with the new expectations set out in the National Curriculum and so there may be a period of transition to meet these standards. We will continue to use the IPC (International Primary Curriculum) for Art, Design and Technology, History, Geography, and International aspects of the curriculum. Also this year, Science will be taught through the topic-based approach of the IPC. Some topics have changed, but we feel this is still the most engaging way to get pupils involved in their learning. Personal, Social, and Health Education (PSHE) is taught using the updated scheme of work from Islington. The new ICT curriculum will be covered through cross-curricular work, as well as discrete computing lessons. Weekly planning is based on observation of children’s learning needs and interests. This ensures each child is offered the experiences s/he needs to access the curriculum fully and ensures a responsive and flexible approach to the curriculum. View full school

  5. Nationally celebrated as a center for excellence, and graded Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted (2019 and 2020), our school boasts a rich, 80-year history of supporting boys with Specific Learning and Language difficulties, and associated conditions, in realizing successes far beyond their expectations, transforming their futures. Whilst our academic results at GCSE, A-Level, and BTEC are consistently above the national average for all schools, the education experienced by More House students is much broader than exam syllabus prescription. Many of our boys arrive with little self-confidence. As one community, we build pupils’ academic, creative, sport, and social achievement. A wide curriculum of academic subjects is complemented by an inspiring extra-curricular program, so that each boy is successful amongst his peers, and learns to recognize that success. Building our students’ self-confidence and independence enables them to transform their lives, achieving remarkable academic success, and pursuing aspirational futures. For the majority, this means continuing their education by progressing from our Sixth Form to universities, but others will move into industry-based learning or to other further education courses. Our vision is to lead in transforming the futures of intelligent children who experience Specific Learning Difficulties, Developmental Language Disorders, and associated conditions, by empowering them. The school's purpose is to enable boys who are intelligent to overcome the barriers to learning and success posed by specific learning and language difficulties and associated difficulties. We believe that it is important that such boys are helped to discover and recognize their strengths so that they build their self-esteem and confidence. We seek to instill self-belief and encourage every pupil to have high aspirations for himself. Our pupils must become comfortable with who they are, recognizing that everyone has within their character areas of strength and areas of weaker skills. This confidence and aspiration lead our pupils to achieve astonishing academic results and social outcomes. Our pupils leave More House with the skills and understanding necessary to be independent, self-sufficient, and active members of society. They have developed a broad understanding of, and promote, the differing views and experiences of our multicultural, international society. The school promotes the moral teachings of the Christian faith within the traditions of the Catholic Church, but teaches tolerance and understanding of other faiths and cultural beliefs, and promotes freedom of expression and personal choice. The complementary attributes of respect and a keen curiosity are strongly encouraged in all pupils. The school welcomes and supports pupils, adults, and their wider families who may be of any religious faith or none. All teachers, therapists, members of the boarding house staff, and the teaching-support staff, share a commitment to continued professional development such that the delivery of curriculum and therapy, and all aspects of pupils’ school experience – academic and social – is informed by an understanding of each pupil’s strengths and weaknesses, maximizing their self-belief and progress. Specific aims: To support the individual needs of each pupil, as individuals, so that each thrives, adapting continuously teaching and support strategies to challenge appropriately to pupils’ diverse strengths and weaknesses. To provide all pupils with an environment in which they feel, and are, safe and confident in being themselves, and through which they develop effective skills to promote their mental health and wellbeing. To foster in all pupils a powerful desire to question and to learn, and to realize high aspirations for their future, in terms of continued education and learning, their professional career, and social relationships. To provide a transformative learning environment and opportunities for our pupils so that they achieve outstanding academic results, above the national age-related averages, both at levels two and three, despite having Specific Learning Difficulties, Developmental Language Disorders, and associated conditions. To develop our pupils to become confident and resilient young people, with the experience and skills that allow them to lead independent lives within a modern world, and with the desire to be involved in society. To foster amongst all pupils an understanding, care, and tolerance of all others, within the school’s Catholic ethos and by the fundamental values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. To collaborate with and promote research into the education and support of children and young people with language-related educational difficulties, and use research to improve educational outcomes for all pupils, and those in other educational settings. 7. We believe Morden is a highly successful school. This is down to our happy, friendly children dedicated, and hardworking staff supportive parents and governors, and our exciting and engaging learning environment. Working together in partnerships with parents, we strive towards our school motto – Learn, Achieve, Enjoy. Our main school aim is to ensure that all children reach their personal best. The early years of your child's life are a very important and precious time. In these first steps into education, they will learn, grow and develop into young members of society. At Morden, we aim to give your child the very best start in education with a team that sees the children at the core of everything we do within the school. At Morden we encourage individual personalities to develop, gifts are nurtured and children are given the tools to reach their personal best. Whether your child is starting at our nursery or transferring from another school, we encourage you to look through our website and phone to arrange an appointment to see the learning opportunities we can offer your child. Education is most successful when there is a strong and positive partnership between home and school. We strive to build upon the skills and knowledge which you are providing for your child by offering valuable, fun learning experiences. We have high aspirations for the children at Morden Primary and our vision is that we ensure we are preparing children to be successful in the ever-changing world and community they will grow up in. None of us know what the world will look like in 2076, but we know it will be very different from today. In the years since they were born, many of our children have seen the invention of the iPad and widespread use of smartphones, literally putting knowledge into the hands of millions. The development curve of knowledge and technology and the impact on our lives means that we need to prepare for a future in which change might be rapid. To provide our children with a firm foundation for a lifetime of learning, we must equip our children with the ability to learn and re-learn new skills and knowledge. The development of the whole child – character education– is central to the Morden Primary community. We have created Medium Term Plans which show the learning that takes place in each year group. Every year group has plans showing the curriculum content taught in each term, and through which topic. Each year group has a topic focus which can vary in length from a couple of weeks to a whole term. Each topic is led by a particular subject, such as History, Geography or Science and then as many other subjects are linked to this as possible. This approach helps the children to see links between subjects and also how subjects fit into their world. There are times when subjects have to be taught discretely because we do not make tenuous links. RE, for example, is identified separately on our Medium Term Plans. Maths is also taught separately but children are made aware that we often use mathematical knowledge in other areas of the curriculum. We have adopted the Singapore Maths method of teaching from Early Years, up to Year 3. This approach is also used as a resource in the other KS2 classes. The school’s safeguarding policies can be found in the Policies section of our website and on request at the school office. At Morden Primary School we consider the safeguarding of children to be our most important priority. Children need to feel safe, cared for, and valued to learn and thrive. To ensure the above guidelines are followed we take action to enable all children to have the best outcomes through our safeguarding measures regardless of their age, culture, physical needs, gender, language, racial origin, religious beliefs, and sexual identity. To do this we have clear procedures in place to ensure that disclosures or allegations are taken seriously, recorded correctly, and investigated. Who is Responsible for Safeguarding? Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play in safeguarding children. Staff is made aware that any safeguarding issues need to be reported through the correct routes to the designated Safeguarding Leader. When staff is recruited we follow the procedures set out in our ‘School Recruitment and Selection Policy. Also, ongoing safeguarding measures are in place for staff currently employed i.e. through training and DBS re-checks. In addition to this, all staff receives annual safeguarding training and updates to ensure they could recognize signs and symptoms of abuse and report using our agreed procedures. The school receives a Pupil Premium grant in addition to our main school funding. The purpose of the grant is to help schools address current inequalities and to raise the attainment of children from disadvantaged families. The amount we receive is based on the number of pupils who are known to be eligible for free school meals (FSM) pupils who are in care and have been looked after continuously for more than 6 months children of active armed forces personnel. If your child does not have Free School Meals but may be eligible because of your family's income level, please contact the office (in confidence) to register them. Even if you do not wish them to have the meals, this would mean the school could still claim Pupil Premium funding that may be used to help your child. View full school

We provide a caring, nurturing, and supportive environment where children feel safe and happily ready to learn. Our pupils enjoy helping each other to learn and play. We also have 'thematic' weeks and encourage visitors, such as authors, artists, and members of the community, to widen the children's learning. We embrace technology that opens up learning opportunities that are interesting, interactive, and enjoyable. Children have access to computers in class and are timetabled to use the school's new ICT suite. 21. Montpelier is an innovative center of educational excellence where diversity is recognized and our children, staff, parents, governors, customers, and community have an opportunity to grow and develop in a happy, supportive, purposeful, and well-balanced environment in which every individual contribution is valued. Within the context of belonging, aspiration, safety, identity, challenge, and success, our core purpose always focuses upon teaching, learning, and outcomes. Achievement is outstanding because pupils’ attainment is well above average and the pupils make excellent progress in their learning at all stages of their education. They also progress very well in areas other than the strictly academic, in their social, moral, spiritual, and cultural development, in their enthusiastic take-up of the school’s many extra-curricular activities, and in their development as mature, reflective, and articulate young people. At Montpelier, the quality of education rests upon both outstanding teaching and learning that encourages participation, questioning, and self-assessment. At its heart, our inclusive curriculum is enjoyable and adapted to suit interest. Teaching is excellent throughout the school. Pupils say that this is because ‘teachers make learning more fun by making lessons more fun. We have booked workshops and organized a range of scientific & mathematical activities to enhance the teaching and learning of science and maths from Reception through to Year 6. We are very pleased that several parents have already expressed an interest in contributing to the week’s events. All of our classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards which are available for parents to use when planning a presentation or demonstration for pupils. We aim to have a mix of children in the afternoon and morning groups and allocate places with this in mind. You may state a preference for morning or afternoon on your application form. However, we anticipate morning places will be very heavily over-subscribed and your chances of getting a nursery place are greater if you opt for the afternoon place. We cannot guarantee you will get your preferred session. If the application deadline is missed you will be put on the waiting list. Places will be allocated strictly according to the criteria as they become available. Whether you are new to teaching or have some previous experience, Montpelier offers a commitment to your continuing professional development. Our senior and middle leaders provide support and challenge to help teachers and support staff to focus upon a balanced curriculum that is underpinned by high levels of achievement. You will be encouraged to bring your talents and shape these into skills that will strengthen your teaching and career prospects as you move through the profession. Everybody's success is everybody's responsibility and existing staff are encouraged to play a positive role in the induction and development of those who are new to the school.

  25. Montem is a vibrant inner-city school. We aim to nurture and inspire our learners to become motivated and successful citizens who are equipped to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow. We do this by creating a positive, stimulating environment that promotes the development of children’s academic, social, moral, spiritual, and physical learning. Montem School is a two-form entry Primary School catering for children from 2 to 11. There are 14 classes with 30 children per class and a 52 place Nursery. The classes are organized into age groups with two classes in each year group from Reception through to Year 6. Our school motto is ‘Together We Learn’. Because learning is at the heart of everything we do. We provide a rich and varied curriculum that enables everyone to succeed. We have high expectations of our children and provide lots of support to help them achieve. We believe everyone should enjoy school and we plan lots of exciting activities to make learning fun. Our school values – Cooperation, Honesty, Peace, Love, and Respect – are very important to us. Children learn about these values and are expected to support them. We expect children to treat one and other in a friendly and fair manner. If bullying occurs we will deal with it as quickly as possible and with the cooperation of parents. We aim to provide an environment where children feel safe, secure, and happy. Children learn best when school and parents work together. We work in partnership with parents and carers to support children and are always happy to meet with parents and carers to discuss children’s progress. It is the responsibility of the whole school community to ensure that every child feels cared for and safe in our school. We take seriously our responsibility to protect and keep children in our care safe. At Montem School we provide a curriculum that is rich and varied that enables everyone to succeed. We want everyone to enjoy school and plan lots of exciting activities to engage children with learning. In addition to a daily English lesson, reading is taught every day throughout the school and phonics happens every day in the lower part of the school. Starting in the nursery, all children learn phonics as a key tool for learning to read. We, like many schools, follow the Letters and Sounds scheme. We select texts very carefully to engage children as readers and expose them to a broad range of books. We use a combination of modern and classic texts including texts that reflect our school community. Reading for pleasure is a high priority. Children borrow books from our well-stocked library and benefit from support from our Reading Champion. As children progress through school, they are introduced to different books based on their reading skills. This depends on the child’s ability to decode the words and understand the contents. Please click here for more information about the different 'Book Bands' used to assess children’s reading and how best to support your child reading at a particular band. All our children write every day, in English lessons and throughout the curriculum. Children are taught to write for a range of purposes and in a range of contexts – some real and some imaginary. Daily maths lessons ensure children develop key mathematical skills. Our curriculum strongly emphasizes arithmetic as this is fundamental to all mathematical understanding. Problem-solving enables children to apply mathematical understanding in a range of contexts thereby deepening understanding. Science lessons emphasize a ’hands-on approach to learning. Children develop knowledge and understanding through investigations and experiments. As children progress through school their investigative and scientific skills are developed through a range of focused units. At Montem we can support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in many different ways. Throughout school life, a child may have some difficulties academically, socially, or emotionally. We have facilities for certain kinds of extra help for children in the school. If these are not sufficient we can call in outside help such as the Educational Psychologist, School Health Visitor, or specialist teachers. View full school
