  1. Maryvale is a Catholic school where children are educated from the age of 3 to 11 in a caring, supportive and encouraging environment where all aspects of their development: spiritual, moral, emotional, physical, social, personal, cultural, and of course academic are nurtured and can flourish. Maryvale is one of the oldest Catholic Primary Schools in the country. The school was built on the present site in 1881 by the Sisters of Mercy to cater to the children in the orphanage and local Catholic families. There was however a school established in the orphanage itself before this date. The orphanage closed in 1980 and the building is now used as the Diocesan Centre for Catechesis. Our School Mission underpins all we do and say at Maryvale Catholic Primary school. As a community, we pride ourselves on actively living out the mission by loving, living, learning, and praying as Jesus teaches us. Here are some of the ways we live out the mission and ethos of our school: Showing care for those in our local community – raising funds and donating food to our local food bank and our order of nuns. Showing care for those globally – Raising money for charities such as Cafod and Fr. Hudson’s homes. Looking after our elderly – performing for the local pensioners at the community center. Loving each other – we have classroom rules that underpin the mission of the school. We live as role models by following the behavior policy in school and trying our best in all we do. By keeping ourselves and others safe – holding themed days and assemblies e.g. anti-bullying days. Working in partnership with our other schools in the area by sharing ideas, supporting, and working with each other. By living out our mission statement by showing respect for each other and ourselves, being honest, being kind and friendly, and helping others. Working together in partnership – home, school, and parish. Respecting each other – multi-faith weeks. Have high expectations of and work hard. Use our gifts and talents to the best of our ability. The home school agreement underpins the partnership of parents/guardians and school staff working together to benefit the children. Extra-curricular activities and trips are used to enhance the learning opportunities of the children so that they can reach their full potential and enjoy activities of their choice. Enriched curriculum with theme weeks. Pray together through acts of collective worship. Attend mass both in school times and weekends. Parents support the sacramental preparation of their children. Prayer services are led by the children in the class. Set school prayers said during the school day to give time for reflection and thanks. Special feast days and days of prayer. Personal/private prayer – we have our prayer area where children can reflect or pray on their own in a safe environment. Our spiritual council leads acts of worship and is active in promoting the prayer life of the school. Our school choir uses their talents as singers to praise God in song. Following The Department for Education, we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races, and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law. 5. Our school is in Stratford, the home of the London 2012 Olympics. We are situated close to the Olympic development, Stratford Town Centre and Stratford City. On-site is our Children’s Centre which offers a wide range of services to the community We pride ourselves on being a diverse school. We have over 500 children from 34 countries representing 60+ different languages. Well, we are widely recognized as being pioneers in curriculum innovation, carrying out international educational research for the benefit of this school and many other schools within the locality. We are renowned for our award-winning outdoor environment (Cluckingham Palace, Nature’s Garden, Negril Beach, etc) which provides unique learning opportunities for our inner-city students. We are one of only a handful of schools that hold the prestigious Royal Horticultural 5 star Award. We are a model school for Oxford University Press in the teaching of the successful literacy program, Read Write Inc. In addition to our academic success, we are a model school for integrating technology. We continually achieve one of the highest attendance rates in Newham because our children love coming to school. Many pupils take part in music tuition after school hours, as well as maths and English classes after school, on Saturdays and in the holidays. Finally, we are a school that lives its motto to prepare children for the future. We inspire our pupils with unique opportunities e.g. meeting Major Tim Peake, astronaut Alan Titchmarsh, horticulturalists international research Professors, and of course Olympic athletes, a legacy from our involvement in the 2012 Olympics. We ensure our children have ambition, that they are successful learners, and that they enjoy each day that they spend with us at Maryland. Maryland Primary School continues to lead the Critical Thinking Skills project in Newham and this will be an important focus of our work this year, alongside our long-term plan about integrating ICT into the curriculum in new and innovative ways. As a result, we now have our stand-alone website, wE-PUBLISH, established to showcase children’s writing across the school. We have embarked on an exciting journey using the web-based tools provided by Google. We hope to see an improvement in a wide range of areas, such as pupil progress, engagement, independence, resilience, and collaboration. Maryland is one of the first primary schools in Newham to start using these tools and is active in supporting schools interested in exploring the benefits this approach has. Maryland Primary School is a multi-cultural school that takes seriously its duty of laying the foundation for preparing children for adult life beyond formal education in Britain. Maryland pupils are given the opportunity of practical experience of democracy in the yearly Head Boy and Girl elections. Candidates campaign for their post and hustings are held before elections take place. At Maryland School, we believe that by promoting fundamental British Values, every individual within our school community will continue to be treated with courtesy, fairness, and respect. We hope that our pupils will continue to recognize the importance of equality, inclusion, and diversity as they move toward becoming an adult in modern Britain. Maryland School is an inclusive school that ensures adequate provision and access to all areas of school life for all pupils including those with special needs. We acknowledge that pupils may have special educational needs either throughout or at any time during their school career. View full school

  7. We aim to provide the very best education we can. As a successful school with high achieving pupils, we will demand the best of them, but also support and guide them to ensure they can succeed at everything they do. Our Mission is to be a Catholic School that promotes positive relationships founded on the gospel values of respect, care, compassion, and love. We firmly believe that each individual can discover, develop and achieve their full potential to take their place in our ever-changing world. Our core purpose is to “achieve the best for all. This philosophy is at the heart of everything we aspire to do for each member of our community. Ours is a relatively small secondary school which helps us to build strong relationships and to get to know each student as an individual, creating a family-like atmosphere. There is an outstanding pastoral care system in place, which Estyn praised. Pupils can be offered bespoke support and the school works with a wide array of external agencies. As you will see from the data included in this prospectus, Mary Immaculate High School is a high achieving school. The progress young people make is excellent, not only for the more able students but for every child, including those who have learning difficulties or special needs. The staff works exceptionally hard to try to get the best possible results for every pupil. Central to the smooth running of a school are high standards of discipline. We believe that good behavior and respect are essential and we work hard to maintain high standards, expecting and receiving support from parents. The school is proud of its rich extended school program with numerous clubs and activities available each day for an hour after school, with an additional late bus for those who wish to stay. We encourage all of our students to take part in at least one of these. View full school

  9. We at Marvels Lane aim to create a positive and inclusive environment in which all children are safe, happy, and want to learn. The staff team works with dedication and passion to provide a wide range of learning opportunities through high-quality teaching and an irresistible curriculum. We have high expectations for all children’s achievement academically, creatively, socially, and personally – in other words, for every child at Marvels Lane to be the best that they can be. Values Education is: A framework that allows everyone to recognize and understand a set of shared key qualities and values in life. Helping everyone to find and develop these within themselves Helping everyone to come to an understanding that what they say and do influences others and, therefore, the local and wider community of modern Britain Community, Compassion, Confidence, Courage, Equality, Forgiveness, Freedom, Friendship, Honesty, Justice, Kindness, Listening, Love, Manners, Peace, Perseverance, Positivity, Respect, Responsibility, Teamwork, Tolerance, Self-Control and Christmas. These core values will each be a focus for a month, every two years. To enable a deeper understanding of the values, we explore each through stories and by encouraging the children to think, talk and ask questions about them. We give time for values education in circle time, special time, assemblies and within other lessons, wherever possible. We encourage all our families to talk about these values, our current values word is displayed on our calendar. The School Improvement Plan outlines how we aim not only to maintain but to raise school standards and performance. The plan is organized into four sections (Outcomes for Pupils Teaching, Learning & Assessment Personal Development, Behaviour & Welfare and Leadership & Management) which are considered and improved as an ongoing process. As school improvement planning is a continuous process, it will alter as a result of evaluation and review which happens throughout the year. View full school

  11. Martin Primary School was opened in September 2007 after the amalgamation of Martin Junior School and Martin Infant School. 'Martin Primary School provides an outstanding education for its pupils. The headteacher provides inspirational leadership, ably supported by a very strong leadership team and an excellent governing body.' We continue to work hard to ensure we maintain this standard. Martin Primary School is a large school and is in the process of transforming into a three-form entry school. We strive for excellence in all curriculum areas and seek to develop children's talents in the arts, music, and sport as well as in English and mathematics. Our curriculum is challenging and offers learning opportunities to all children. We are committed to providing a safe, secure, and stimulating environment within which children can grow, develop and learn. Martin Primary School has a strong tradition of partnership so that teachers and governors, parents, and children work alongside each other to achieve high standards of work and behavior. At Martin Primary School we aim to provide a happy, safe and exciting learning environment where every child has an equal opportunity to reach his or her full potential. We recognize that children learn best when they are fully and actively engaged in the learning process, which means ensuring high-quality learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. As a team, we strive for excellence, putting children and their learning at the heart of all we do, so we help to create well-rounded individuals with fond, fun memories of their time at Martin Primary school. We keep confidential records of work undertaken and the progress of pupils, including observations and agreed targets. We have undertaken Drawing & Talking Therapy which is a way of engaging children and helping them work through any issues away from a classroom environment. This is currently being implemented with positive results. We run Social Skills groups for children across the school which encourages friendship, problem-solving, anxiety management, building confidence, and helping children take control and deal with change. We also deal with ad-hoc friendship issues (daily) so that this is kept away from the classroom and learning time. (Bubble time Year 3 and Talk Time Boxes). We supervise both playgrounds from 8:30 am every morning and 3:35 pm every afternoon. We also stay with the children who are late to be collected and monitor those who are frequently collected late. We run a daily lunchtime club for children who find it difficult to be outside for long periods. We implemented and oversee the school house system, where children receive points for good behavior and work and are rewarded throughout the year. We oversee the School Council meetings fortnightly, where two children from each class discuss a variety of topics that relate to the daily running of the school. We accompany classes on educational visits as well as school journeys with Year 6. We are available to support parents when needed. We have full team meetings every Friday with Mrs. Waterman and Ms. Jerrard. We review new referrals, current caseloads and support each other with ideas on how best to work with referred children. We handle sensitive information from school, home, and other agencies, and confidentiality is respected unless a situation presents as a safeguarding issue when the designated school safeguarding officers will be informed. We provide opportunities for children to talk in confidence, within the framework of the school policy for disclosure and child protection. View full school

  13. At Marshgate Primary we hold the highest expectations of success for all our children. We ensure this through the delivery of a stimulating and challenging curriculum and an excellent learning environment. Our high specification building is set in landscaped grounds with spacious play areas, green areas, ecology areas, and ponds. The building is equipped with the very latest technology both in the classrooms and in our additional specialized teaching rooms. We hold regular open tours for prospective parents/carers. If you are new to the borough and want to apply for a place for your child in Years 1 to 6 (or Reception once that year has already started), you should contact the Admissions Section to obtain an application form and find out which schools have vacancies. If you live outside the borough, you should contact your home council to obtain their application form and they will liaise with our Admissions Section on your behalf. Please call or email the school office to find out the dates of the next available tour. Parents will be shown around the school by the Head Teacher, or in her absence, a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Prospective parents will be allowed to discuss the school placement with the Head Teacher or a senior teacher and will be able to register their interest in a place at the school. At this time prospective parents will also be given a school prospectus and any other relevant information about the school. Please note there is no parking available in the school. All children are offered a broad and balanced curriculum through the delivery of the Foundation and National Curriculum. Some children may need some additional or different support to allow them to fully assess the curriculum. Early identification is the key to later success. An SEN support plan is drawn up through collaboration between teachers and parents. We work in partnership with families to support every child. The National Curriculum is taught at Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5, & 6). The National Curriculum subjects are English, Mathematics, Computing, Science, History, Geography, Music, Art, Physical Education, Design Technology, Personal Social Health Education (PSHE), and Religious Education. In Reception, your child will be taught the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. This prepares your child to begin the National Curriculum in Year 1. The Governing Body provides strategic leadership of the school through monitoring the work of the school. The Head Teacher is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the school and the Governing Board’s role is to provide support to the headteacher and other staff by acting as a “critical friend”.Governors are not involved in the day-to-day running of the school, but at Marshgate we have a link governor scheme where a governor will follow a particular year group. This ensures that the governing body keeps in touch with how the school operates and how pupils are taught. We also have link Curriculum Governors. Marshgate Primary School is one of an alliance of seven schools and St Mary`s University College based in the London Borough of Richmond in Southwest London. These act as a training provider for Schools Direct. As a Local authority, Richmond is recognized as one of the highest achievings in England and offers a wide range of outstanding and good schools within the primary and special phase. The area is culturally rich with Richmond and Bushy Royal Parks, the River Thames, theatres, museums, excellent sporting facilities, and a wonderful range of restaurants and places of entertainment. Central London is 30 minutes away by London Underground and Southwest overground trains. The seven schools work closely as part of the family of Richmond schools and each brings different strengths and specialisms to the Alliance. They are committed to high standards of pupil achievement and progress, strong home/school partnerships, high levels of care and safeguarding of pupils, a rich and exciting curriculum, and a strong ethos of professional development. There are many ways to become involved in helping the teachers in class, helping with clubs or preparation of materials, sharing any expertise you may have. Please note all parent helpers must be police checked before beginning volunteer work. If you wish to help, please give your name to the office as soon as your child starts school. Every parent is automatically a member of the PTA. The Association aims to support the school and foster the links between the two. The PTA organizes many fundraising and social events. These include social evenings, coffee mornings, afternoon teas, bake sales, picnics, fairs, etc. The PTA has a notice board outside the main hall. A PTA newsletter is distributed regularly. All children are offered a broad and balanced curriculum through the delivery of the Foundation and National Curriculum. Some children may have difficulties with learning in certain areas of the curriculum and some may have difficulties with social and emotional development or behavior. Again, early identification is the key to later success. An individual education program (IEP) is drawn up and agreed with the parents and we work in partnership to help each child. 14. 15. We are a diverse community with learners from many different cultures and backgrounds who are valued and respected. We emphasize excellent progress whatever each individual's starting point or circumstances. At our school, we aim to provide a safe, caring environment where staff, governors, and parents work in partnership to provide high standards of education for all our children. Education is a partnership between home and school. Children learn best when school and homework together for their benefit. When your child starts school, it is not where your job ends and ours begins. It is where our job begins and yours continues. We place a great deal of emphasis on our partnership with parents and there will be many opportunities with you to make a significant contribution to the life of our school. We are fully committed to doing the best for our children (from 4 to 11 years) and they are held as paramount in all our decisions. We are an effective team here and it is through that team pulling in the same direction that we will continue to create a place where exceptional education can be witnessed and where respect is central to all activities. We work in close partnership with the other primary schools in the area and have good links with Stockland Green High School. At Marsh Hill, we feel that the school should provide the foundation and opportunities for children in our care to become well-rounded and capable individual members of a society which continually evolves and develops. When children leave Marsh Hill we want them to be independent learners and thinkers with a range of skills and talents. We can only do this by striving to provide an environment for learning in which children can maximize their potential academically, socially, physically, and emotionally. Our mission is to provide a caring, respectful, tolerant environment in which all individuals are enabled to fulfill their full potential through a creative and enjoyable curriculum. We aim to provide: A broad and varied curriculum promoting a community of enthusiastic and independent learners. A happy, healthy school in which everyone feels valued. A caring, secure and stimulating environment in which to educate each child intellectually, socially, emotionally, morally, and physically, so that he/she can reach their full potential, moving on to the next stage of their education with confidence and high self-esteem, and being prepared for their adult role in society. The teaching of a high standard, enabling children to make good and better progress in all subjects with high standards of both achievement and behavior. An inclusive curriculum, which is broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated to each child’s needs. Equality of opportunity for all children, regardless of age, gender, race, creed, culture, physical disability, or special educational need. A diverse range of opportunities to stimulate the children’s learning and promote inquiry through the curriculum and beyond. Actively promote British Values throughout the curriculum. We aim to raise standards by promoting a school ethos that is underpinned by core values. These values support the development of the whole child as a reflective learner within a calm, caring, happy and purposeful atmosphere. The ethos of our school is built on a foundation of 22 core values which are addressed directly through lessons, assemblies and permeate the whole curriculum. Each month we focus on a particular value. We learn to understand what the values look like and how we can demonstrate the value, in the way we behave, in our attitude towards each other, and in our learning. Parents are encouraged to develop the monthly value at home and have the opportunity to nominate their child for displaying the value. At Marsh Hill, we use the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, National Curriculum for English, Maths, and Science and incorporate the Foundation Subjects (Art and Design, Computing, Design Technology, Geography, History, Languages, Music, PSHCE, and Physical Education) in conjunction with Values Education and Life Skills. To achieve our educational aims, we provide a broad and balanced curriculum that takes into account the uniqueness of each child and develops the whole child, physically, socially, intellectually, and emotionally. We are an inclusive school promoting equal opportunities for all pupils, regardless of DSEN, ability, gender, or race. We help children develop personal and moral values, respect for and tolerance of other cultures, races, religions, and ways of life, and promote their understanding of their role within the community and society as a whole. We ensure continuity and progression from year to year so that all children can perform at a high level, with confidence, across the curriculum. Assessment for learning underpins all teaching and learning so that future learning is informed by the attainment of individuals. Our curriculum is carefully scaffolded to allow for the development of essential skills - collaboration, communication, clarity of thought and expression, a logical approach to problem-solving, critical evaluation and organizational skills - and positive attitudes towards lifelong learning. 17. Marsh Green is an expanding school, moving towards two form entry. Our classrooms are richly resourced with pupils using laptops and iPads daily to further enrich their learning. Visitors to school and school trips make the curriculum come to life and provide memorable learning experiences for all pupils. All schools have their own unique identity and here at Marsh Green, we believe that we have created a stimulating, friendly, and supportive environment in which our pupils can learn and achieve their very best. We encourage our pupils to have a voice and to develop responsibility and respect from the very start in Early Years right through to Year 6.Our strong and committed Governing Body fully supports the school in providing the very best possible educational opportunities for all. We are a music school with strong links to the community music service. All pupils in Year 5 learn to play a musical instrument and pupils in years 2, 3, and 6 receive specialist music tuition. In addition to this, all pupils from year two to six enjoy learning in weekly drumming lessons our gifted and talented drumming group are truly amazing to watch. The Marsh Green choir is a leading choir in the borough with boys and girls equally eager to join and perform. To provide a friendly and supportive ethos in which all pupils and staff, irrespective of gender, race, culture, religion, or disability are valued, are consulted, and can achieve success. To promote a sense of personal worth in an atmosphere of trust and mutual support. To ensure that each child is sufficiently motivated and encouraged to reach his/her full potential. To show children standards of excellence and encourage them to gain satisfaction from their achievements. To help children develop lively and enquiring minds and to be able to communicate effectively. To equip children with attitudes, skills, and knowledge to learn independently. To encourage children’s spiritual, moral, and cultural development in all areas of their life. To help children become responsible citizens with a caring attitude to the environment. To encourage children, parents, and governors to work in partnership to realize the aims of the School. The adults within Early Years will gather evidence on your child’s progress, make observations and use this to create a profile for the children on our online observation assessment tool called 2Simple. We encourage parents to look at their child’s achievements and you are always welcome to discuss any questions or problems with the class teacher or TA. The governing body is a group of people from different parts of the community who come together to support the work of the school, by working closely with the Head Teacher to ensure that standards are high in every area of school life. It focuses particularly on the leadership of the school and financial management. We ask parents to help their children with independence by encouraging the children to hang up their coat and bag, finding their name, and settling at an activity. At the end of the session when you come to school to collect your child, please wait outside the classroom for your child to be dismissed by a member of staff. Please do not call your child yourself, as we need to be aware of which children have left and with whom. To give your child the best start at school, it is important that parents and staff work together, and share their knowledge of the child. Staff is always available for a brief word in the morning or after their morning or afternoon session. Throughout the school year, we hold open evenings or open days when you will be able to see your child’s work and speak to the staff about their progress. If at any other time you have concerns that you need to discuss with us, please let us know and we will make an appointment for you to see the teacher. During the year the Foundation Stage will take part in a Harvest Festival, Sports day, and Christmas celebration and you will be invited to all of these activities. We also have Mother’s Day and Father’s Day parties. Everyone enjoys these events and appreciates the opportunity to come together and celebrate the achievements of the children. Marsh Green Pupils choose representatives from their classes to attend School Council Meetings. The School Council works hard to represent the pupil's ideas and needs from all classes and age groups. If your child is aged four to six and attends a fully state-funded infant, primary or special school, they are entitled to receive a free piece of fruit or vegetable each school day. That provides one of their 5 A DAY portions, and the scheme also helps to increase awareness of the importance of eating fruit and vegetables, encouraging healthy eating habits that can be carried into later life. Our school is united by everyone’s dedication to maximizing pupils’ personal development and wellbeing. All staff understands that emotional health is closely linked to mental health and that as a school we can encourage positive development of mental health in childhood. Consequently, mental health and wellbeing are embedded across the curriculum to allow us developmentally healthy and happy children who are ready to take on the challenges they may face in school and beyond. At Marlborough Primary School we take pride in developing the best possible standards of learning, teaching, and assessment by holding the highest expectations and knowing all our children well. 25. At Marlborough Junior School we believe that the primary phase of education is the most important in a child's learning journey. It is a time when we aim to nurture in all our children a lifelong love of learning. Everyone at Marlborough Junior School is committed to providing a caring and friendly school, a happy place to learn because happy children make engaged learners who will become equipped with the skills to achieve their very best. We encourage children to think for themselves, placing emphasis on problem-solving, decision making, and becoming independent learners. Children's enthusiasm for learning is fostered, as is their pride in their achievements and pride in the school community. Individual efforts are valued and celebrated in an atmosphere that encourages self and mutual respect. Confidence in a school comes from knowing and understanding what is happening within it. We hope you will take advantage of the opportunities throughout the year to visit the school on occasions such as class assemblies, ‘Celebration' assemblies, parent/child workshops, as well as parents evenings. Marlborough Junior School aspires to be easily accessible to parents. A successful school is one where there is a partnership between school and home. When children join our school, they will enjoy themselves, thrive, and achieve their best in our stimulating, learning environment. We use every opportunity to provide motivating activities which will stretch your child's imagination and allow them to learn through first-hand experiences. Our vision is to develop a school community where children can enjoy a welcoming, secure, happy, and healthy environment, where all members can develop self-confidence, self-esteem, self-motivation, independence, compassion, tolerance, and understanding of others. By The Department for Education, we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races, and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law. At Marlborough Junior School, we believe in creating a stimulating environment that allows all our children to learn in a way that motivates and interests them through inspirational learning activities and high-quality teaching. Our creative curriculum at Marlborough revolves around the Cornerstones Curriculum. The Cornerstones Curriculum is a creative and thematic approach to learning that is mapped to the new 2014 Primary National Curriculum to ensure comprehensive coverage of national expectations. Our new curriculum will be delivered through Imaginative Learning Projects (ILPs) which will provide a rich menu of exciting and motivating learning activities that make creative links between all aspects of our children’s learning. We believe children learn better when they are encouraged to use their imagination and apply their learning to engaging contexts. Our new curriculum will provide lots of learning challenges throughout the academic year that will require children to solve problems, apply themselves creatively, and express their knowledge and understanding effectively across the curriculum.
